As a fellow Overwatch veteran, this resonates deeply with me. Allowing individual contribution into the equation would make the moment to moment feel like it really matters as oppose to the direct win or loss. By proxy this should make games better. Match matching absolutely needs a rework.

The way it works in overwatch is how MMR is calculated in all MOBAS. Based purely off win/loss. It's frustrating though, it should go off individual performance per match.

I’m so happy some one else has had a similar experience, I thought it was just me. I will admit I suck, and yet for some reason I get matched up against widows that will kill my whole team before the fight even starts. What blizzard needs to do is drop the forced 50% win rate, and separate the mmr’s between game modes, and roles.

Being a silver player in OW1, I fell in rank to Bronze in OW2, and I genuinely feel this. It's so weird that I'm paired with either total newbies (no skins, feeding on respawn) or one of the teams is clearly veteran players with all the old skins + some baseline coordination. It's hell trying to climb because I either have to hard carry (thankless task if I'm healing) or my team obliterates the enemy. It's absolutely wild this "50/50" thing.
Also fantastic suggestion for endorsement-based matching? I find people with high endorsement levels usually give a crap and are good teammates, and maybe if this was implemented for solo queue it would feel a lot better. I mean, why ELSE is endorsement there? I main tank and healer, and hover between 3-4 endorsement level generally. What a dream it would be to be paired with nice players who give a shit.

This is just speculation, but I think the mmr system doesn’t drop you down because it’s trying to predict where it thinks you should be and it keeps getting it wrong. I am a high diamond player and I played a game today where we had a dps player who played for 12 minutes and did 1500 total damage. No player at even plat level should ever be capable of such a low amount of contribution over twelve minutes. But there they were. There were players in the lobby with 12,000+ damage and and kills/assists over 20. My teammate had 2 kills and no assists. That player must have had a miserable time in the game, due to the matchmaking. He died constantly for twelve minutes and could not contribute, I felt frustrated for them.

      @chrissoto4878 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I think your sentiment about 'if the tank feeds it's gg' is pretty damn accurate since the meta shift to 5v5.
With one less tank (and the ability to only have 1); it makes the role being one, and likewise the one on your team WAYYY more imperative to your success.
DPS was always important and that hasn't changed, but in line with your 1 tank needing to be kept alive cause you only have one; the healers performance is also a big indicator of if you'll win.
If you have healers who can't keep the tank alive, or a tank that hyper extends out of LoS so you can't heal him; you have a recipe for a quick gg.
I went from a diamond tank main in OW1 to a support main in OW2 who avoids ranked like the plague; because healer is one of the most undervalued roles in OW2 rn, and I can't trust the job to people who fill the roll. Especially in casual matches lol.

@@chrissoto4878 I've been playing support as kiriko mostly just so I can minimize my teams overextensions. It's frustrating that many players don't watch their own health. Supports cannot out heal 100 damage per second if you take a 4 on 2 fight with 40 hp. People should use cover like they have no heals, not stand in the middle of the choke eating the team shots. Yes, it gives ult, but its not worth it when we only have so many resources to stay alive. I want to Suzu in clutch situations, not keep you alive from taking unnecessary damage. Then when the anti nade or tire comes out we got no resources. Supports are most effective if you give us some breathing room to add dps to the team fights instead of heal botting to stop from losing a player in a bad position. Always playing catch up with heals or taking 1v1s against diving dps in the back line, leads to easy picks at the front line. TEAM Support for supports is lacking. Tunnel vision loses games... wish people would turn around for once.

Her ult can effortlessly win fights/games if people follow up. But like you said; she can't do everything. People do stupid shit and expect you to be able to cleanse them every 5 seconds. It'd be nice if they were aware of cool downs or LoS before spamming 'healer diff' in chat while I have the highest healing stat in game (doing at least 10k-12k on avg) and sometimes DPS that rivals our/the enemies ADC 🙄
Edit: But to touch on more of what you said; yeah the real problem is the team doesn't support the support like you said. People take unnecessary damage doing harebrained shit, expect us to keep them alive, and when we inevitably can't; they bm and throw/rage quit the game.
They fundamentally are not knowledgeable at the game; and then fault/punish you for their lack of skills. Unfortunately 'rambo strats' don't work in a 5v5 *team oriented* game; these people simply have to learn to play with their team better or burden everyone they're allied with.

Fast forward to the launch of ow2, and I fell in love. In a world where all new shooters are battle royales or tactical sweatfests, it was nice to see a game that ran on all platforms from a potato pc or switch to a top of the line rig or ps5.
Games were competitive, but modes like tdm/ffa/and customs were a lot of fun. No one really understood the meta and games were always crazy.
That first month, the old gang and I were playing the same game on all different platforms for the first time in years, and I even got some new people who haven’t really games online in years to try out our tdm/ffa custom lobbies and essentially treat it like a vr chat with guns. It was the most fun I had since halo 3, and that’s a huge compliment.
Fast forward another month, everything feels different. Each game is a sweat fest, even on casual modes that I frequent. No one really wants to play anymore, especially matchmaking.

So when I start a new account that’s ranked lower I’ll go 7-7 but still get ranked up 2-3 tiers cause the game registers I shouldn’t be playing in that tier.

the stomp or be stomped gameplay was also there for overwatch 1. Balanced matches were rare, but those matches made people feel good. What you see is the result of loosing 2 players per match, which makes fights a lot more focused. The Time to kill got reduced compared to overwatch 1, but not enough, while at the same time the fights feel much more chaotic with less players per team compared to the first game.
Another factor that makes people notice the one sided matches, are the leaderboards you can see in the match. It makes you very aware of when a stomp happens. The matchmaking was as skewered back then as it is now. I would say the free2play made it worse because of the player fluctuations.
There were many mechanics in the first game that made people kinda toxic. Now that they took most of those away and replaced them with something else (if at all), people still get toxic, but also burned out faster. The first game did well to make people addicted, while giving them only enough informations to not question what is happening. Now you got more informations (and less in competitive ranking) and all those mechanics that give you dopamine are gone, so the "High" wears off faster, giving way for frustration.
Heck i was pretty negative towards the first game, cause i knew they had much more unused potential, but even then i was hooked on the game for at least 1 or 2 years until i completely stopped. I have heard people talk about being burned out from Overwatch 2 after ONE month.

gotta use a little example to Overwatch 2 trying to add something so people feel better playing: In the first beta they changed Brigittes Shield Bash to feel more impactful, while not really changing anything about it based on damage and so on. It just *feels* better to use now. The little mechanics, that should keep you hooked. Brig is still a garbage pick but at least it feels better playing her now while getting stomped.

That's a good point the leaderboard is showing exactly who wasn't pulling their own weight.

    • @Desgaroth

@@larongbuko I don't know exactly why, but Blizzard knows those little tricks you talked about are what makes people addicted to the gameplay. And then they removed them with the excuse of them making people toxic. It's like they want people to get away from the game as fast as possible.
I also just recently saw the South Park episode about "Freemium" Games and they tell people a lot about addicting games and their mechanics to keep people addicted.
An Example being peole who stopped playing for a while, so they suddenly recieve mails about going back to the game due to an event or different update. Just like Blizzard likes to do. The only thing that's missing is gifting people something for their return to the game so they are more inclined to pay for something. idk i started when over watch 2 came out, and the lobby felt horrendous, but i learned how to play really quickly. i ended all my roles on high gold, and my support was platinum . There are two things i noticed on VERY rare occasions that I'd have a match that like actually felt it like both teams were just as good and that they were nearly always one sided either we roll them or they roll us BUT this new season it feels more like teams are kinda balanced? but its more so in the way that im in high plat for support and somtimes get lobbys that feel like they should be bronze or silver? like my teammates and my enemies are really bad, so it cancels out, but at the same time their are always like 1 or 2 decent players on each team. More often than not, that's me now thats not the worst but it is kinda bad but the issue i find is if they have a good tank and a good support and im a good support and have the best stats in the lobby for support deaths included but my tanker is worse and they are meant to be the same mmr as the enemy tanker and the redt of my team is really bad i nearly always lose on this situation even if i have like 1 death 20 elims or more 30-40 assists 10k+ heals and 5k+ damage and whatever utility the support im playing eg damage boost- anti nade- speed and so on high usage aswell but still lose? even though i performed the best possible just kinda sucks like to get punished when you have practiced and gotten much better and their is a very noticeable gap kinda sucks and tbh i feel that is kinda dumb. also old over watch players that where high rank but arent good anymore or treat it like 6v6 who are silver coming into my plat lobbys is just really dumb because sure they need to lose to change their mmr but how many games does that have to ruin for other people yk? which is why i think a reset would be good for mmr BUT ONE THING that i feel would help so much is if they just made it stricter on who you can queue with like i should not be the only plat in the lobby or their only 3 plats in the lobby between two teams i feel if it was stricter and not based off of last seasons mmr but actually rank that would be better because like bro i do not need another match where i play support while they have a diamond challenger as a tank and i have a silver especially when they claim "they are simliar skill level" when they are clearly not queuing for a match should not feel like gambling

First of all I agree about one sided matches. It is either I get stomped. Or my team stomps the enemy. None of the results feel fun and engaging because there was no actual "competition" in that. So lately I am only playing quick matches that actually feel more balanced thus making them more fun and enjoyable to play… I am speaking here about high plat / low diamond ranks in competitve btw (I was mid-high masters (avarage 3,750SR) in OW1 mostly playing supports)
Second problem occurs a lot in competitive matchmaking - since game is F2P now I see a LOT of 4-stacks in my games. And there are two problems to it. The first one is simple and sometimes can be fixed, but usually these 4-stacks refuse to join chat. So I am literally playing game alone. With no calls. No info. Nothing… But the worst part which is second problem - the allowed threshold between player's skill tiers. I had match yesterday on Plat1 rank as support and got matched into a 4-stack with both DPS being Gold5… I know there is hidden MMR behind visual rank but I refuse to believe that the gap between visual rank representation and hidden MMR is SOOO HUGE! It is almost 2 skill divisions. Worst part about this problem is that I play support and currently supports are not the easiest role to carry games solo so I am little bit dependent from my DPS and tank. I believe in this exact example 4-stack premade had also Diamond player so the avarage rank was Plat…
And last - third problem is cheaters. Before I rant about cheaters lets discuss OW1 as a good example. I have played OW1 around 2 years in a row since it's release and later I revisited game from time to time later on… I don't even know how many hours I have spent in game… But I guess that could be around 2'500hrs… And in all my time spent in game I have probably seen 2 cheaters and maybe had 3-4 suspects that look like a cheaters. So imagine having a game that was played almost 3 years in a row and I got to see almost to none cheaters. Now in OW2 I have seen 100% aim-locking rage hacking clowns about 6 times already and that is only in 2 month of playing this trash (and I also have to mention that I spend much less time in game compared to OW1 because it is not as fresh as it was then and also I am getting fuccin older so I got things to do…) And I will not even complain about people being suspects to be a cheaters because I feel like every fourth to fifth game will have that 1 player that looks VEEEERY SUS. I played on high masters in OW1 and I have seen very talented players so I know how natural aim looks like AND ALSO how good game sense looks like in combination with good aiming (mostly positioning, understanding threat levels, awareness and many more small details)… Those suspects 99% of time have none of those small details. Even crosshair placement absolutely makes no sense. And duud… Cheats are going WILD these days. We got AI that can draw and write pretty much anything for you so imagine how advanced cheats have became with all those trigger bots, soft aim locks and so on… If you think that cheats are always getting spotted easy then you must do some funny research in internet of what these hacks are capable of these days…
And to prove my theory about having TOOONS of cheaters in OW2 just check the YT videos related to cheaters content. It was very hard to find a video of cheaters in OW1. Now I see new video that is dedicated to cheaters (mostly VOD-ing) every single day. No joke… EVERY FUCCN DAY!
OW2 is just a pathetic rebranding of dead product. Let's not even discuss progression system and monetization of game…

This matchmaking honestly needs a complete overhaul, and quickly. How is a system where MMR is untethered from rank supposed to be satisfying in any way, not to even mention the forced 50% winrate it tries to achieve by matching you with extremely low or high skill players based on whether it needs you to lose or win. It just feels bad, and it isn't even working. Almost every game is a stomp in one direction or another. If they care about statistics so much then they clearly need to start measuring different stats if they don't see the massive issues here. I have 70% winrate playing almost exclusively Brig in competitive with slightly under 100 games played in OW2 but my rank and MMR clearly isn't adjusting fast enough, and I think it's because I play in a 5-stack very often. The only way for the matchmaking to "balance" my winrate is to give the enemy team higher MMR players, and my team lower MMR players, which is why I heavily gravitate towards playing with 4 other people, because even one random teammate in this matchmaking system is practically throwing.

The main thing ill say about overwatch matchmaking at the moment is that it just feels so unrewarding. Knowing that after a season of grinding so hard just to get back to the rank ive gotten before ill be sent back down to gold from diamond is just awful. The plan for players to win 50/50 is absolutely insane, a balanced game will naturally do that if playing against players of the same rank, given the removal of the mmr system. And this wish for players to win half there games is stupid, it makes climbing boring and tedious

You bring up very good points. I ended up in bronze 2 at the end of season 1. It is nice hearing from someone that isn’t in top 500 or whatever. Anyway, I figured that it would be easier for blizzard to start everyone in the rank they ended up in last season. Ie if you ended up in gold 1 you start in gold one. Then your first couple matches should be based on how well you played in those matches. As you appear to play worst in comparison to the others you play with or against then adjust your rank that way. So in comparison you look like you’re getting better you climb if you look like your getting worse you fall. If you like you’re playing about even you stay where you’re at.

One less tank, overpriced skins, a limited map pool, crappy things like souvenirs and name tags in the battle pass when all I care about is skins, highlights, and emotes. And then there's the crappy matchmaking system. You either squash or get squashed. Only like 20% of the matches are even remotely competitive. Also, another problem that's been there since OW1 is the patches mainly cater to the top 1% of the game because Blizzard is obsessed with it's lame OWL and not the, long suffering, majority of players (silver, gold, and plat). It's making me want to move on, and I guess that's probably a good thing as far as life is concerned.

They actively punish you for trying to be a good player instead of 2 boxes 3000 xp, they couldn’t even bother to give you a battle pass level, and being a good player is even harder now, they act like removing medals makes this game less toxic, then they make it so you can see everyone’s damage heals kills assists and mitigation so what’s the point

I'm going to try to make this as short as possible mmr is roughly the same as your SR was in overwatch 1. In overwatch 1 matches were made based off of mmr also, but due to you being able to see your SR most people assumed it was only based off of SR. The reason that we know this is that 3900+ SR in overwatch 1 got reset to 3900 at the start of every season no matter if you won all of your placements or lost them. So the game would recognize that the mmr and sr we're different and would try to equalize them through your matches. That is what is happening for everyone now instead of just GM players and high masters players. Flats made a video talking about this topic a while back that explains it quite well. Let me end this on a personal experience with the mmr system I am currently a masters 3 player on support ended masters 5 last season. I recently deranked from masters 2 to masters 3 due to my record being 7-10. Out of those 17 games I had at least 1 GM player on each team for 13 of them. And out of the first 7 games there I had a top 500 tank on each team for 4 of them. This is due to me going 14 and 3 in my last 2 rank up cycles. So the game put me in harder to win games because I was winning more. However when I lost the games it slowly lowered the level of players I was playing with to find the right ranks for me to play against to hold at 50% win rate. While my rank right now is masters 3 the average rank of my matches due to the mmr is masters 1.
TLDR: mmr has always been in overwatch, people just didn't realize it till it was used without showing SR.

I started playing a lot more overwatch this season especially competitive, originally I was high silver on tank however in the span of 5 days - week I had gotten myself up to gold 1, this is where the trouble began for me. I assume the game either thought I was smurfing or that I deserved to play against players way higher than my skill, my original winrate after making it to gold 1 was usually around 77-81% now that winrate is only 55%. The game had thrust me headlong into a slew of platinum 2+ games some probably being low diamond and as a result my winrate crashed. However I was still doing overall decent, yes I had more bad games, but I still ended up doing similar damage, having a similar amount of deaths, etc, I feel as though not only was I thrown into a rank I was not prepared for, but also that my teammates might have been experiencing similar things to me based on how they played. It did not matter what I did, whether it be the fact that theyre dps were sufficiently better than ours, or that our supports were not only lacking in the heals but failed to get decent value out of their utility. Now I find it almost impossible to win on this role, no matter how many times I lose the matches never get easier and no matter how good I play something always comes up like before, even the games that seem winnable I get leavers. In this one game we had a leaver and STILL ALMOST pushed the cart to where they had stopped it, in the fight for first on dorado I had to 1) eat the torbs ult 2) get nano'd 3)cancel the enemy NANO'D sig ult 4) use my own nano'd sig ult 5) and kill two people while getting the other two people down to 1 before rocking the sig and dying. All of that just to win a fight after we had a leaver in game where I am 99% certain we would have won.

Their Whole Monetization plan for the game screams short term money grab. There is no long term plans from the people in command. They do not have faith in the game whatsoever. Sure overwatch Devs have that faith, but they have to do what the higher ups say. all the older Blizzard members who had the power to at least hold off that anti consumer management already left years ago. Think about it. Jeff left and shortly after we hear drastic changes on the balancing and later on about the monetization. We can see that many heroes are not designed for 5v5 but 6v6. The 5v5 change was most likely a decision after Jeff left, cause they had Years to think about how to change the other heroes accordingly, if 5v5 was planned all along.
Don't know his name anymore but the character designer left shortly after finishing the hero designs for the team. He was also fed up with the way the company was going, or else he would not jump off the moment he was done with the least he could have done. If there was hope for the game to be a long term success, they would have kept him because they know the heroes are what brings the people in. But he just made them a backlog and left.

Not only do you need 50 games to be in top 500 but you can't drop from 4500 to 2700 in two or three games. If I had to guess I would say he was a diamond or masters player.
I saw the reverse too where one teammate had a top 500 title in a Plat game and the enemies said gg after one minute. He was on Phara and said its his off role yet people started giving up. Then Apex Legends and Valorant came out. and i climbed. my climb was equal to the amount of time i put in and i could see my effort translate into skill and wins. I always knew what i could do better next time.
even now, Overwatch lacks that. i am mechanically better than i ever was in the old days, and back then, i reached Low Plat. but this time around? I can’t get out of gold because every game is a tossup. It’s rare to have equally matched games. I either roll or get rolled.

You sir said everything I've ever felt so far playing this game! I jump into qp, ya know, I wanna do my challenges. Bam, I get thrown into a losing game, and it gets counted against me, which isn't fair if you're a fill-in. Most of my games are severely one-sided, where I end up on the losing side. Literally, the other day, I played, and it took me 6 games to get 1 win for the damn challenge. The mmr is not fair at all. I climbed back up to support masters, tier 4, but I had to five stack with my friends because on my acc, my mmr is so bad due to being thrown into losing/throwers in my games, even in ow1. I would love for a mmr reset. The passion I had for this game is rapidly dying. In most cases, I force myself to play to finish the battle pass that I paid for then leave. I hate that they won't do anything.
And can't even chill play with my friend that's lower tiers because we get higher ranked players that sweat their balls off. Sometimes I have to go on my smurf just to get easy lobby games to play with my friend since they're not "game sense" ready.
But like I said, all that you've said in this video is literally me. I'm not a hard competitive player unless I 5 stack because when I solo in qp or comp, my games are brutally one sided for no reason.

So, I was a masters player back when I used to play OW big time in OW1, so this is probably coming from the perspective of “the enemy team”:
It’s really not fun having like, brand new players placed on my team or the enemy’s. I can tell when I’m in a game that I shouldn’t be in, and that’s basically every game I’ve played of OW2z
I haven’t played a whole lot of comp just cuz I don’t play the game for that much anymore and it’s stressful for me, but quick play just, isn’t fun. It’s sometimes not even really a competition, we either roll or my teammates are so bad we lose (for lack of a better way to put that). This coming from a support player, mostly reliant on my team to do their job to win as long as I do mine, but I can’t help people who don’t know what they’re doing. It is QP, so I don’t get super upset by it or anything, it’s just annoying and makes the casual experience kinda suck.
The game is def not what it used to be, and it makes me really sad lol. Now-a-days I just play Mercy like Kiriko for fun (and also because it allows me to feel like I have actual impact on my games lmao) and that’s basically the extent of my Overwatch playing. I queue for all roles cuz I hope I’ll get something other than support, and sometimes I do, but playing support is also just kinda ass rn. I try to find my own fun but when the company doesn’t care about my enjoyment then idk if I should care about their game.

Yesterday, I played a few games in competitive as a tank making space and landing Orisa javelins and lost 4 out of 6 because DPS couldn't kill anything and supports refused to heal. Then I played 3 more games as a support and won only once because once again DPS couldn't kill and the tank kept dying in the enemy backline while I desperately tried to keep everyone alive. I'm a gold player in all roles but I felt like I was playing with a bronze team and the enemy team was platinum, diamond, or even grandmaster rank. I hope this gets fixed soon.

As a “hardcore casual” fan of Overwatch, I feel like I agree with your overall point. My experience with OW2 has been that like 8/10 matches feel noticeably one-sided: either my team absolutely demolishes the other team, or the other way around. And I thought it was mainly due to the rebalancing between 1 and 2, but now I’m realizing the matchmaking may be a bigger factor. This game feels like they’ve sucked away so much of what made OW appealing to a wide audience and have narrowed their focus on try-hard e-sports PC players exclusively, targeting the whales who will buy the unreasonably priced costmetics, and everyone else is just along for the ride.

There is a reason why I play exclusively DPS when I can, playing Tank or Support is terrible when your team is so varied in MMR, you'll have gold support and platinum dps while the diamond tanks will win on a coin flip of their support actually paying attention to them or the DPS not splitting off from the team and dying

Recently I've had so many games where there's one or two enemy players that are leagues above everyone else and our team doesn't stand a chance. Today there was an enemy hanzo who had 28 elims and the player with the most elims on my team had 4. We couldn't get close the the point or walk around a corner without dying. I've had a lot of days where it's like that, but I've also had a couple where my team steamrolls the enemy team 90% of the games. I'd say a match is actually balanced 5-10% of the time. Though I feel that matchmaking has been this terrible since around the doomfist update.

I'm masters in open queue and hadn't played role queue since launch and my rank went down to a stinkin gold 3 on tank so I got on to grind it up and the matches felt impossible I lost like 5 matches before my 7 wins and looking at the career profile of the enemy team they were completely diamond and shit but after that small rank up I was in actual gold games and won 7 in a row rocketed up to plat 2 feels completely random. And being a ball player the coordination and mental capacity of the enemy team really matters so it's annoying only having either a diamonds challenger title or having to find a public profile first push is always a disaster

I just uninstalled yesterday after yet another session of competitive games with god awful matchmaking. Me and my friend were either getting completely steamrolled, matched up with players who had no idea what they were doing, or facing teams that were obviously way above our skill level. We had several matches where our teammates never used their ults, had zero elims with 10-15+ deaths or just kept rushing into 5v1's, dying and then complaining about the rest of us in chat. The final straw wasn't a matchmaking issue but instead a push match where we lost at the last second by a distance of 94.79 meters to 94.74 meters despite having 2 players pushing the bot and no enemies around, the match just ended in defeat out of nowhere. I'm done until they fix the game. I can't keep dealing with frustration day after day.

my win rate is actually around 60% but im very high level tf2 and csgo player so the transition was pretty easy and i have my buddies to help out with whatever knowledge i lack. I think playing with at least 2 friends who are good at the game makes a really huge difference. i’ve only played for around a month consistently and i got like mid to high gold in that time frame. From what i’ve seen, almost half if not more of the reasons why so many games are very one sided is because of tanks. It feels like almost every time that my team handily wins or loses, there a massive tank gap between the two teams. Tanks in general need a lot of reworking in my opinion, feels like they’re still built to be in a 2 tank system which isn’t the case anymore.

Private profiles, no more 3rd party websites where you can check your individual stats on a hero, no more rank displays ingame (not even your own rank?!), no individual winrate per role (you have to calculate it by yourself and some excel sheets), SR is hidden for some random reason... I only just started playing Overwatch 2, period. Never touched the game, or even other FPS, before. I play a lot with friends, so I’m sure my MMR is a bit confused, but I feel like at one point, I actually had normal games.
I’ve never played ranked (maybe I should?), but after I played a handful of public matches with my friend group who was teaching me on my first day, I decided to play a few matches by myself. And it felt…good. Like I was playing with people just as new as I was who were just as confused about how to use the characters. Nowadays whenever I’m in quick play, my team either A: Has decent synergy, but the other team is just 1000 times better and we lose, or B: Has terrible synergy and we get stomped and lose. On occasion, maybe 1 in 50 games, the team can get a hard-fought victory.
One of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had recently comes from trying to learn Widowmaker. Like I said, I’m brand new. I have no familiarity with the maps. But, I’m actually a pretty good sniper…once I can get into position. However, I always end up in matches where no one is watching my back, and then I get destroyed by Reaper or Farah or Genji who jumped up to my spot and started railing into me from behind before I can even register where the shots are coming from. And then…I die. I know part of it is just “git gud” and, yeah, I’m trying. But I’m still learning the game, and I get put up against people with way more experience.
(On that note, bless the Moira who came to find me in a match earlier today and stayed with me to pocket so I could get some decent shots. She was clearly more experienced, but was very patient with me. ❤)
I’ve also tried practicing against AI, but that’s a strange experience because even the AI can trash us. And being good against AI doesn’t translate well to real life games.

It feels to me like their plan to keep that fifty percent win rate is to alternate between getting my booty stretched out by gms to stomping bronze players until they rage quit. They give me a game where I have absolutely no chance of winning, and then a game where the only way I'd lose is if I left my computer. Yeah, I've got a fifty percent win rate but I'm also not getting a decent game no matter what happens. There's no suspense, I can tell within the first minute how the game is going to end, and it is wearing on my will and enjoyment
