Thanks for all the insight. Buying 2, for pistol and rifle is too much and changing calibers seems like a nightmare. Makes sense to keep it at the same caliber. Any broken primers and powder spill?
@@onpsxmember at first 223 was a fucking pain priming that’s why I got a 2nd case mouth expander and I use it at the priming stating to hold the case center for priming however I do t case mouth expand at the priming station I do it at the station after. Once i did that it’s been gravy ever since
Great video. I have been debating on getting one of these for just case prep and maybe load dedicated down the road. I also have the Mark 7 trimmer on my dillon. Get yourself dewalt stealth sonic vacuum. I run mine in the house and it's around 65-70 db. I am curious on how much thread you have left on your trim die. I am guessing 300 blk is out of the question on that tool head?
I haven't tried 223 on my X-10 yet, just 9mm and subsonic 300blk and the powder measure always seems within +/- 0.1gr 223 seems like it does require its own press, to change all that stuff out from 9mm seems like it'd be a lot of work.
What trimmer are you running and bullet feeder? Could you send a run down of what order you have each station setup? I’m a first reloader and just trying to get a similar setup. Thanks, I probably shouldn’t have jumped into the pool right off the bat😂
@@thicc_and_quick-go1kf I am not crying dude. I do own the press and the trimmer and my results are way different than yours. The press is fu*king joke. It's always breaking something and very inaccurate round to round.
@ 🤷🏻♂️ I have done just shy of 6k 223 rounds on mine with the mark 7 trimmer and it’s as clean as can be with a small shop vac, the Lyman pro dies are mint and the press runs flawless, I’d love to get mark 7 apex 10 presses and I will but not for a few years
@@D-LineReviews ya it’s a threaded stage, if you are doing rifle ammo I suggest a case mouth expanding die in that stage, that way it holds the brass center, a hold down is not actually needed though
@@thicc_and_quick-go1kf I’m not getting primers seated up sometimes at all, sometimes crushed. Like 3 out of 100 are fucked up, one of those 3 is not seated, ends up crushed in priming mechanism and stops whole press. I disassembled whole priming assembly, clean it, degreased it, heck even polished the wheel (it was gunky). Nothing, nada. Using M die on priming position and doesn’t seem to help. Ordered another hold down die and will have to move powder measure back to 7th position, and remove Lee fcd entirely to see how that will work. Because I want to keep mark 7 powder check die and with bullet feeder I would not have enough stations for crimp die as Lyman m die is needed for bullet feeder. It hold down doesn’t help, I don’t know. Seems like priming has problem with really hard crimped pockets which even swager doesn’t process all that well. Hoping hold down would fix that and heck with fcd, bullet seater (Redding) should iron out light flare from M die anyway.
@ thanks. Today will also check if the four screws on prime and swage linear rails are tightened. Heard that some units do not have tightened them. No wonder, yesterday a screw from powder measure came out (the bottom from the powder drum holders). I obviously tightened those up screws when I assembled powder drop after degreasing it. It measures perfectly within 0.1 gr. To priming - on the discussion board at Brian enos one user mentions two set screws under priming wheel were not tightened enough, slightly protruding. I know about those two as I saw them when disassembled priming assembly, will check those screws too.
@@thicc_and_quick-go1kf OK so today I've checked everything back again. Found out that swaging rod was not pushing up to the end of primer pocket. I set it previously with cutout brass but not with all stations full. Now I feel that it really swages. Next thing, found that main bolt on swage/priming cam was loose, I tightened it down, as well as all screws on cam block (and screws holding whole assembly too). Degreased priming rod - this was the one I missed over. Voila, 300 rounds without any issue at all.

Mark 7 trimmer. It's awesome for the money. But the trimmer power control unit is rather large unfortunately.
