my parents lived in a Quonset hut in '54, I lived there in 75, re-visited in 2013, huge airport now, lots of development, high rise condos, shopping malls, Koreans, Russians, always full of Japanese, even taxi's charge Japanese rip off rates. Top private school $10-15,000 USD annual, just under 4 hour flight from Narita, Japan.
My son is in the Navy and heading there in another month. I can't wait to visit him there, it's even more beautiful than I thought. I've always heard that Guam was referred to as the "poor man's Hawaii".
It's unbelievable to me how Guam has developed in the nearly 50 years since I was stationed at the NCS. Unbeliebvable. It's really a beautiful island. It looks completely unrecognizable. Do thjey still have that ONE radio and television station KUAM out of Agana.
There are some as nice as this one. You can get a nice place by yourself but if you combine you oha with friends you can get a really nice place. There are a lot on island
Ginger, my friend, lives in Guam. I have met Ginger at some of the SABE national self-advocacy conferences in the United States of America two or three times.
wayyy overpriced! but it does look nice inside. what i hate the most are the windows facing marine drive, they're small and cheap like an afterthought.
Chamorros use to live in all the islands of the Marianas until the 2nd war. Now we are scattered and without our lands. Pagan, Alamagan and Agrihan are occupied but not all are able to live there because of the US law for education. The Marianas unfortunately became a fine ass place strategically for the war that isn't ours to begin with. Chamorros got murdered for you to have your job today. Just like the Native Americans.
riderof5 Would you guys be able to save some of that housing money and live in cheaper places ? Or is it "use it or lose it " ? Seems like a waste of $$ for 3 military,if you have the option to bank some.
Of all the 5 U.S. territories (Guam, Northern Mariana Islansd, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa), the residents are U.S. citizens except for American Samoans who are U.S. nationals.
Guam housing is ridiculously expensive. Most houses/apartments are very dirty but still charging high rent. This island is not beautiful at all with dying marine environments and brown tree snake infested land and seriously corrupted government. A tropical island but not many coconut trees or local fruits. Do not pick this island for your next place.
What do you mean "not many coconut trees"? I see plenty around. There's at least 4 around my home and a lot more in my neighborhood. I must agree on the high rent though, houses and apartments are really expensive just to rent. And you said Guam is not beautiful? Well I guess beauty is in the eye of the holder. In my opinion there is a lot of beautiful places on Guam. Some areas may be dirty, but we try our best to clean them. Also I kind of agree with Kellie, you're the only person I know that hate Guam.
It's not a country and far from being a third world country like China. Guam is a U.S. territory and its residents are United States citizens. So it is safe to say it is part of the United States of America.
Wang, you need to travel far away from your backyard. Guam is never a third world. Tourist goes shopping in Guam dutyfree bec they’re tax free. This time, this place is saturated with military. Which is another plus to their economy.

It was 4400 a month. Had 1 roommate. We are Navy with our over inflated housing allowance
wayyy overpriced! but it does look nice inside. what i hate the most are the windows facing marine drive, they're small and cheap like an afterthought.
Yeah well, 25 migrant workers could live there as well. So maybe 4400 is not so bad.
pffft thats 1100 each for 4 guys...i pay that in california and i dont get to see the ocean. looks great
But how much a month is rent for something like this? Soon to be Navy and Guam could be a option. Any tips and info would be appreciated!
Steven Thacker 4400
Thanks!
+Steven Thacker yea, here's some advice. Stay your Navy ass away
At $4400 per month, you can bet I'll stay my ass away. Not a Navy ass, just an ass.

+walshj U.S. citizens
Why does it matter though?
Of all the 5 U.S. territories (Guam, Northern Mariana Islansd, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa), the residents are U.S. citizens except for American Samoans who are U.S. nationals.
What do u guys do for employment?

How about "corrupt local government" ? It can't be as bad as saipan right?
I don't keep up with too much politics, but I never heard that our government was corrupted. Maybe it is and that I just never heard of it.
why y'all hating Guam is beautiful
DO NOT GO TO GUAM. It's better left alone. (Now this is nearly impossible.) No more destruction!
This is that very expensive place on Guam. Not bad at all!
