Your compassion, empathy, and respect for these animals speak volumes for the bloke you are Simon, you're a good man. What a great way to show your audience that pest control is not always about the kill. Keep up the great work mate and I hope you and Jack have a happy and safe Christmas/New Year.
I look forward to your adventures in 2023. It is so good to be able to watch a very ethical and professional hunter in action. Keep up the great work. Happy New Year
I’ve said time and time again, it’s not just about killing. I’ve lost count the times I’ve watched foxes go about the daily business and could have quite easily shot them, but chose not to. Problem foxes are always fair game, but it’s sometimes exercising restraint in certain circumstances. All the best for the new year bud.
Hi Simon. Fighting the demons over the Christmas time, but seeing the video of the cubs and your obvious compassion and love for animals has made me smile. Thank you for that! sláinte
Thanks for sharing that video simon , to be honest over the last 30 ish years I’ve watched more foxes than I’ve shot . I like yourself only shoot them if there a problem and I get great enjoyment out of watching them as even to this day I’m still learning about them as all foxes have different habits. Thanks for sharing mate. 👍
Top content from a top countryman. A fox that's not causing a problem is not a problem 👍. No one will look down on you Simon in fact I am sure people will hold you in higher esteem. Happy New Year to you and Jack 😎👍
A very happy new year to you, your family and good old Jack. Thanks for demonstrating we're not bloodthirsty "kill 'em all" monsters. I have a few permission's where foxes are not a problem and I thoroughly enjoy watching the fox families grow up from a distance, unmolested.
Two sayings that I remember til the end of my day's... "Why try and mend something if it's not broken"? (why kill an animal if it's not being a problem etc) "Never look down on someone... Unless you're helping them up" so Simon your acts of kindness and respect for others and the wildlife we are so lucky to have will never be looked down on from my eye's mate👍😷👍
Thanks Greg he did to be fair, it was so funny to see a black lab being chased with 7 fox cubs a sight i will never ever see again, i just wish i had filmed more of it to show you all.
I can once remember watching a fox on Linicro hill on the Isle of Skye, where i live hunting. The fox made its way to an old ruin, where it found something that was of great interest to it. For its tail went straight up in the air. Just as though it had got an electric shock. After that it made its way deeper into the ruins where i lost sight of it. Probably bad news for a vole. But the foxes reaction put a smile on my face.
I think there may be quite a few of us here that have similar stories that show our soft side, we do after all, know our quarry and most other species better than most, and this knowledge only inspires adoration for all creatures great and small. Happy new year mate! ;)
You got a heart pal, I use to feed foxes out of my hand in the city parks! With my Nan and grandad used to be a big time county person shooting foxes all the time! But same times it’s good to have a friend. Happy new year to ya .. 👍🏻
GREAT VIDEO SIMON ... !!!!! WELL MATE THIS SHOWS YOU HAVE A GREAT HEART ... !!!!!!!! AND YOU HAVE A JOB TO DO ... !!!!!! SOME PEOPLE TYPE, OTHERS PUSH A PENCIL , YOU PUSH LEAD .... !!!!!!! CHEERS ...!!!! DOUBLE G. HERE ... !!!!! GARY .
Hey brother that’s a great lesson for everyone to see we don’t shoot everything we see we love nature and enjoy it as much as the next person I know I have let a bunch of deer go over the years and we have to manage the herds and the foxes of course but what people don’t understand is that the some disease transfers to the herds and will some come to us . But we also have to understand the loss of the food source of killing calves birds deer and other animals and it is left up to us to do those things and it helps everyone. Great video Simon great to see u as always and look forward to the next one. Cheer’s
Nice one Simon, yet again. You have a sensible head and a warm heart. Who could look down on you?, no one. Happy new year to you and Jack. All the best for 2023…
Simon, Howdy; Thanks for the video, Hope Fredrick has a long an peaceful life or should say behaves himself for a long time. Give jack a scratch on any of his favorite spots. Enjoy your New Years.
HNY again to you & Jack! This is a great example of what being a true countryman is all about and something for the urban dweller experts to ponder. Hope Mrs Frederick shows you her cubs in March.
Good on you Simon. Here in New Zealand I like to do pest control on rabbits & possums mainly but any other introduced pests that cross my path but often the general public don't understand it's not about killing. It's about life, the life of the native species that the introduced pests effect and it takes a caring nature to do this well. To keep motivated to do it regularly for the good of the environment and native species. Keep up the great work
That's pretty cool how you met those little guys and still able to be associated with today. And unless they become a problem you will be able to follow them around. I hope that you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
You're a good man Simon, Frederick gives you the respect of not killing lambs or chickens and you give him that same respect and let him walk on. He definitely remembers you or he wouldn't be that comfortable that close to you. I had a beautiful fox come out of a thicket one evening while sitting on ground up against a tree deer hunting, less than 40ft from me, he surprised himself and also surprised me, he was like "ut ohhh"😂 But remained calm and he just meandered off taking his time. Surprisingly enough it was the first day of fox season... Anyway, the little kits really loved Jack and he them😄 You are a good man my good friend and don't fret on what others may think, you definitely made the RIGHT decision buddy!! God Bless you brother 🙏 Jay.
Thank you Silver, at the time i like kept it like a dirty little secret because of the kind of job i do, i used to take my daughters up to play with them and such, lol, any way you stay safe my friend.
Land i used to shoot over i spent nights watching the fox cubs each year and same thing,if they weren't an issue we left them as they got older but my magic time was a pair of barn owls that visited each night..
I use to do alot of fly fishing . Use to feed cubs trout . And yes they come out of hole and take food from u . I see where ur coming from Simon with this vid , a hunter see's more and understands nature more than some people realise .
Age , experience ,respect and a good head is what saves Fred . Respect for your quarry and the countryside is all to your credit . I always leave pigeons and the odd bunny for charlie . There aint many around what gives um a chance , gears to hi tech now , even though i have it myself ..
That summed up being a true countryman Simon. I feel the same. Pest control is managing when animals cause conflict of interests. Protecting ground nesters or stock. I often scare woodies and corvids off of arable land rather than shoot. Only when the get fixated on shoots/rape and such do l resort to killing. My last "difficult" fox was a known poultry killer, even in daytime. Thats why he is being mounted. You are a genuine bloke, honest and entertaining. All the best mate.
This video shows that we hunters do care about the wildlife we hunt. Your a good man Simon, thank you for this video. So, it was a great Christmas and I hope you have a wonderful new year. From a Scottish descendant in America thank you for your understanding of wildlife. 👍 Have a good one Simon. God Bless you and Jack.
There is a purpose in what you do. It’s not about killing, but controlling the costly damage done by some predators to farmers. That was a great heart warming story Simon. Much respect for what you do. Have a safe and Happy New Year.
Hi Simon. I totally agree with you .I've got two foxes on my permission, it's nice watch them go about there business .it's a cattle farm so they can do any harm . Great video 👍
Great video Si total respect to you. It goes to show what a true pest controller you are and alot of people could learn a thing or two from this. Thanks for sharing and happy new year to you and Jack.
Frederick is lucky he made friends with such a totally professional shooter who is a credit to his sport. All the very very best to you for 2023 buddy.
Thanks for this post and years ago I had a family of Gray Foxes that were born on my property in California and I would feed them and they are impressive animals. May your family including Jack have a great New Year.
Great to see you again in 2022 Simon! Often a job description is pointed yet fair at the same time. Here the point is proven in one of the best ways possible. Happy New You to you, your family, and of course to Jack! -Bob...

I bet you couldn’t shoot Frederick if ever he was being a problem. He’s got your heart strings.
