I been using heat sink for a bit while now I guess I am not only one use heat sink I side the heat sink over the hot wheels then use a hair dry good old heat sink nice job..
I've never used those so couldn't comment on the quality or issues. I was designing some of my own wheels as I now have a 3d resin printer, but life got in the way. Hopefully I get back to that real soon and I may start offering my own wheel sets.

Sure, after a fine grit sandpaper you can use different rubbing compounds and a polish for a mirror finish if you wish. In my VW build video I polished the diecast body using that method. Just chuck the wheel lips in the drill and polish away!
Great tutorial! I think you could have cut the aluminium with your jeweler's saw easier if your drill direction had been reversed as the metal appeared to be spinning with the direction of the saw teeth as opposed to against the bite of the blade teeth.
Thanks for the reply. Its actually spinning against the teeth of the blade. This was actually a coping saw (I have since purchased a jewlers saw, much better)so the blade teeth are quite a bit larger. If you think about it you still need a sawing motion because otherwise even with the spinning of the drill the aluminum would only be cutting on one or two of the same saw teeth which is not very effective at cutting. The sawing motion really speeds up the process. If you were to have some sort of cutting bit like on a real lathe the opposite would be true.
Thats cool! I was wondering if they roll as good as factory plastic wheels? I wouldnt think they would be as fast but i dont know. WHats your verdict on that?
Thanks! You probably could probably make them pretty fast. They do roll well, but they do have a little more weight as you would expect. But realistically these are for more static purposes. Because the amount of time I spend building my customs I am not about to fling them across the table or floor lol.

@@vick_garage if you mean use aluminum tube to make the wheel rims... I would if I could easily obtain the size I would need and it was affordable. This is a cheap easy way to achieve a good result, and most everyone has these laying around, plus you a couple sets from one handle.
Its the larger sized hobby knife/X-acto which measures right at 15/32nds of an inch or 11.9mm. It is hollow and has the thick sidewall, but toward the end is solid. It's the cheapest source of aluminum for this.
No you don't need 4 exactos, depending on the width of the wheel you could make 2 sets of 4 wheels out of one knife. Hobby knives are cheap and easy to find. Try buying aluminum tubing in the correct size and you tell me which is cheaper. Have you ever built any? Do you know a better way?

@@superrad1659 Bro I do not know. Mine was a generic brand hobby knife. I went and measured the diameter which is 7/16th of an inch, if that helps.

I was having great difficulty pushing axles into wheels. I have greenlight and M2 tire and wheels sets for hotwheels size 1/64 diecast vehicles.

Anything to substitute for the metal used to make the wheel instead of an exacto?
If you can source aluminum tubing with enough wall thickness then you can use that for sure. It's just finding that affordable that's the problem.

The heat shrink tube for the tires isis for 22 gauge wire 3/8" or 9.5mm. hope that helps!

Of course there is a better, cheaper way, but this tutorial gives you just idea from where you can scrape the materials around your table.
