Heads up - make sure to hook your Rane SL outputs into the LINE INPUTS of your analog mixer and not the PHONO INPUTS, otherwise it will be completely distorted.
Only a turn table should ever be connected to a phono input as the mixer has inbuilt preamps that boost this signals connection, hence the distortion when you plug a line level input in such as the Rane SL
was having issues with my new Numark Scratch mixer skipping and this tutorial helped me solve that problem and also taught me how to use the hot cues. Very helpful

Seoulcoolguy Yes! I’m running on Mac Catalina so I had to allow serato access to my microphone in the comps privacy settings. By default I probably denied access after upgrading however long ago... possible you might have done the same thing. Hopefully that’s solves your prob!
Seoulcoolguy weirdly it didn’t give me the deck option either but it did by default activate my turntables and read the time coded vinyl. Maybe double check your mixer inputs are set properly???

Hello I appreciate your video. I recently purchased the pioneer DJM-S5 along with the Audio-Technica atlp 1240 turn table. Everything is connected properly my problem is when I use this serato control vinyl and press play everything is backwards. I've tried using the keyboard shortcuts q and a and nothing works. Is there perhaps an updated version of the serato control vinyl that I need to be using?

On the SX3 setup shown here, can you connect to the Phono inputs on 1/2 but map them to channels 3/4 on the controller? Looking to have a 4 deck setup but want to keep 1/2 for the built-in decks and use 3/4 for the external turntables so the faders stay relative to the deck locations.
Had an issue using Pioneer XDJ-XZ with up-to-date Serato and Firmware, with MacOS Catalina, where the vinyl control signal wasn't recognised. FIXED as in another comment by changing privacy settings to allow Serato to access the microphone. AND the second trick was to use the phono input for Channel 3/4 on the back of the mixer but set to COMPUTER input on the front of the mixer for Channel 3/4. So weird and such a simple fix. Posting in case someone else is looking to solve the same issue!

why wont my control vinyl move the track? even with my calibration set like you said the vinyl still doesn't trigger the song i just hear the tone. no one else seems to have this problem so i cant find any solutions please i'm desperate for an answer.
In my setup screen there is no audio tab. My issue is this: MacBook Catalina 10.15.7 and Rane 70 mixer. The mixer only sends sound when in internal mode. The cue pads all work. The control vinyl does not (cannot manipulate the sound) When using Pioneer SX2 controller no issue. Only with the Rane 70 n turntables. Advice?
I was wondering if you could help me out. I just got this mixer, DJM S7, and I calibrated the turntables inside the Serato software. But for some reason I can constantly hear the tone playing, no matter what functions I have it on. I can still hear it even when I play the music. Even when the music is not playing and the needle is still going around the control vinyl, I can still hear the tone nonstop! Is there a reason why this is???

I jave 2 turntables and the djm-s9. Deck 1 won't calibrate. It displays a vertical green line in the center. Deck 1 will not playusic from song just noise.

Coming from someone that has no Serato interface, what do I need before buying up Serato DVS? Last time I heard of Serato they had the Rane SL2 and SL3, since they discountinued them now, is the DVS the better option now? especially since SL3 and SL4 devices range from $300 to $800 now.
I have only a1210, a pt 01, an handykutz mixer and an old numark dm1000x . What’s the cheaper option to timecode those analog parts? It would be cheaper than phase dj?
I managed to set it all up and plays fine syncing with Serato software. I am using Pioneer DDJ SX2 and 2x Technics Turntables. However when I play normal vinyl through the Pioneer controller, the sound quality drops, and is not a clean sound compared if I plugged in my turntables to a normal Pioneer mixer (DJM-500). The sound when plugged through the Pioneer DDJ SX2 is so bad I had to give up this set up in order to play and enjoy my vinyl records, which is a shame. Basically the equaliser on the DDJ SX2 didn't help at all, tweaking the knobs didn''t even give that much difference...like turning the bass to max had zero effect. Did I do something wrong? under audio i do not see the tab turntables....i use a columbia gp3 and akai AMX serato mixer...i just activated DVS/Vinyl...but the sound is very distorted....someone advice me thanks
@@rebelvinyl i think its the noisemap vynil noise to have the signal to synchronise the moves on the platters with the song. I have change the stylus and i hear the noise less but i think it's normal...
So Im planing to buy a serato dvs but Im not quite sure if I get how all of this works. Right now I am using two turntables plugged into the mixer and the mixer plugged into the amplifier. My question is what would I have to change to make it all work with dvs. Do i have to buy a mixer with the usb connection, connect turntables to the mixer and then connect the mixer straight to the laptop skiping the amplifier? FIXED: When running mac OS Catalina, make sure your security & privacy settings allow Serato to have access to your microphone, and any other feature it might need for that matter. Simple solution that can drive you crazy...

I have Numark Scratch, 2x reloop 8000 with condor S.when I connecting, I have the following issues 1) crossfader is not active at all. it doesn't switch between decks. 2) Calibrating settings disappeared after a few scratches. When i go to my expansion package I do not Have an option for vinyl/cdj control. One, according to the serato website if I’m running a DJM 3s mixer (which I am) I do not need to purchase any expansion package. My time code is working. I hear the time code buzz and I can play regular vinyl records. So I am assuming my 1200s are working. My question is to get the turntable/cdj option on my software (Serato DJ pro) do I need to purchase the Serato DJ package as an upgrade, the dvs expansion package, or all three in one of the bundles.

Will Serato dj pro in ABS mode on DVS through my cdj2000 and sl4 box or nxs mixer ever let me use hot cues even if I plug in another midi and map it to the hot cues buttons on the software? Will there be a update for this ever or will it only work on REL mode - I don’t like REL mode because the cue button on CDJS doesn’t let the track go back to the start...
cool video.. but i have been having this issue with my software for a very long time now.. 1st i dont have that set up menu on my audio where i can choose turntable. then i alway have 3 calibration decks. and the most important part is when i'm moving the dvs slow to catch a cue point or in a slow scratch, it drifts. or it skips if im going to slow.. what do you think it could be?

Hi Jamie, my dvs system is set up but my right channel plays the control vinyl as well as the track on it. I have tried everything I can think of but it still plays. Any ideas why??
You can put the DVS into THRU mode to play regular vinyl so yes!

SO. im a ole school Dj justvgetting back in the game. Radio Shack realistic mixer ole school... I got a reloop elite mixer, a reloop mk2 8000 and a nix 500. im trying to figure out space age DVS, but im confused. do I plug everything in digital ,analog or both. duo I just connect everything to thee mixer or one or the other analog or digital. do both ways work with dvs? anyone got a moment to help out an old schooler catch up to present day djing. it hasn't been exactly, plug and play! lol
Sigh. I have Serato DJ Pro and the Serato AMX controller. All I want is to dj with audio files as well as vinyl and CD into the phono inputs as is. I don't want to control the sound of CD or vinyl. I just want the sound to go through the mixer. Simple? Apparently not. :-/ Don't have "deck setup" in the preferences. Do I need that if I don't need DVS? Just want the analogue signal to go through.
Great video, thanks! Just wondering, if using Serato with only one turntable...whilst mixing between tracks is there a need to use absolute or relative mode? Or could either mode be used?
In Traktor at least you can just press play and it will keep playing without caring about the turntable and without a jump. You can also instant double it to the other channel.
My guess is no because it looks like you can just hook turntables up and use your controller as the mixer for vinyl mixing. It looks like you have to purchase an expansion pack to use Serato Vinyl to control mp3s in Serato pro.
I've just bought traktor scratch but I have an issue which is apparently prevalent on serato too. I can hear the time code signal / frequency quite loudly from my needle, and it continues when a track is playing. How can you stop this from happening?
When I set it up this weekend, I was not able to see the turn table options in the audio deck set up portion of Serato? I got the Serato vinyl to play for a split second and then it stopped and I've been stuck ever since.
nice man, I failed to set my sensitivity and was sure it was the deck, but now its crystal smooth DVS goodness. Except my Denon DS1 is acting shit and sound is crap

I never knew that the calibration had anything to do with that. I always thought it was for noise around you (sound from speakers etc.)

Yes any player playing a time code signal can be used. You’d just plug into the Line input rather than phono. 🙏
How do I set up serato through my denon x1800 I'm new to this and would like some help
the pitch range on an 1210 is +/-8%, yet the ptch of the song in the software is at 35% whole playing... how do you achieve that? :)

plug in another midi and map it to the hot cues buttons on the software?
Will there be a update for this ever or will it only work on REL mode - I don’t like REL mode because the cue button on CDJS doesn’t let the track go back to the start...
cool video.. but i have been having this issue with my software for a very long time now.. 1st i dont have that set up menu on my audio where i can choose turntable. then i alway have 3 calibration decks. and the most important part is when i'm moving the dvs slow to catch a cue point or in a slow scratch, it drifts. or it skips if im going to slow.. what do you think it could be?

I just got a Numark Scratch mixer & while watching this video I went into my settings & noticed I don't see these options. Did I miss something during installation & are these settings still the same?

Hi Jamie, my dvs system is set up but my right channel plays the control vinyl as well as the track on it. I have tried everything I can think of but it still plays. Any ideas why??
What mixer/sound card are you using?

You can put the DVS into THRU mode to play regular vinyl so yes!

SO. im a ole school Dj justvgetting back in the game. Radio Shack realistic mixer ole school... I got a reloop elite mixer, a reloop mk2 8000 and a nix 500. im trying to figure out space age DVS, but im confused. do I plug everything in digital ,analog or both. duo I just connect everything to thee mixer or one or the other analog or digital. do both ways work with dvs? anyone got a moment to help out an old schooler catch up to present day djing. it hasn't been exactly, plug and play! lol
Sigh. I have Serato DJ Pro and the Serato AMX controller. All I want is to dj with audio files as well as vinyl and CD into the phono inputs as is. I don't want to control the sound of CD or vinyl. I just want the sound to go through the mixer. Simple? Apparently not. :-/ Don't have "deck setup" in the preferences. Do I need that if I don't need DVS? Just want the analogue signal to go through.

Great video, thanks! Just wondering, if using Serato with only one turntable...whilst mixing between tracks is there a need to use absolute or relative mode? Or could either mode be used?
In Traktor at least you can just press play and it will keep playing without caring about the turntable and without a jump. You can also instant double it to the other channel.

My guess is no because it looks like you can just hook turntables up and use your controller as the mixer for vinyl mixing. It looks like you have to purchase an expansion pack to use Serato Vinyl to control mp3s in Serato pro.
I've just bought traktor scratch but I have an issue which is apparently prevalent on serato too. I can hear the time code signal / frequency quite loudly from my needle, and it continues when a track is playing. How can you stop this from happening?
you can't. Just like any regular vinyl, you will hear whatever is on the vinyl even if the sound is turned off.

When I set it up this weekend, I was not able to see the turn table options in the audio deck set up portion of Serato? I got the Serato vinyl to play for a split second and then it stopped and I've been stuck ever since.

nice man, I failed to set my sensitivity and was sure it was the deck, but now its crystal smooth DVS goodness. Except my Denon DS1 is acting shit and sound is crap

For some apparent reason the audio section is not displaying the deck setup I have everything activated my mixer as well what could it be?
