I am a White Boy...? I grew up with Black Folk... My Daddy was a 'holiness preacher'... and I am off course touched by the young man's singing..thats how I found this? That's my favorite song...'Father...I stretch my hands....to thee.... no other Help I know...' but I am more touched by the tenderness and compassion? ...that the 'Father' gives his son. My daddy went to be with Jesus.
Here it is 4/8/2022, 6:41 a.m. to be exact, and Pastor Dewey still looks the same and sounds the same. Just a little bigger. But still SANG his behind off!
I'm a member of Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church where this young pastor now serves. He has grown our congregation to well over 8,500 souls and growing and has led us to a new 7,000 seat cathedral in Decatur , Ga on a 7 Building 55 acre Campus. Just on yesterday evening Pastor Smith was Hooded by The United Theological Seminary from Dayton , OH with his well earned Doctorate in Ministry. I'd like to Congratulate the newly Hooded Dr. E. Dewey Smith Jr. My pastor . And may God bless him:-)
My dear grandmother sang this when she faced things in life that she had to pray about because she had not answers to but she took it to God.he always brought her through.
YESSSSS! This songs always comes to me when I'm in agony & don't know exactly what to pray for. I'm 42 & grateful to have been raised singing the old songs.
It seems among the Black Church..that everyone supports..and encourages...and.... 'helps' you? I had the 'call of God on my life'.... but... so many sorrow from sin? When my daddy died there was no one to... support me spiritually? but I ... am encouraged by this song. I do stretch my hands to my Heavenly Father...... It's not....overly emotional? but there's a very Sweet Presence in this service... It's real peeps.
I wasn't a year old yet when this was filmed, but I grew up in a small baptist church in Bolton, MS. These are the songs that move me... My soul understands this language....
What's up boo, I love your profile picture on your TH-cam page and I would love to get to know you. Please give me a call at 478-998-2194. Please give me a call when you have time.
I too was raise in a Baptist church where my daddy song the old songs of Dr wyatt.that touchs the deep souls..still to this day nothing can touch these old hymns...Thanks be to God🙏🙏🙏🙏
Glory Hallelujah! What a powerful song! Thank you Jesus for your tender mercies, grace, favor, love, victory, anointed and for dying so we might have life yet you rose with ALL power in your hands. Hallelujah
I certainly thank God for being raised and brought up in the Baptist Church! My training was here, and because of this I was licensed as a Preacher in the Baptist Church as well. Although I am now operating freely in the spiritual gifts God has blessed me with, I thank God for these very deep spiritual roots!
Father, I stretch my hands to thee, No other help I know; If thou withdraw thyself from me, Ah! whither shall I go? What did thy only Son endure Before I drew my breath; What pain, what labour, to secure My soul from endless death! O Jesus, could I this believe, I now should feel thy power; Now all my wants thou wouldst relieve In this, the accepted hour. Author of faith, to thee I lift My weary, longing eyes: O let me now receive that gift! My soul without it dies. Surely thou canst not let me die; O speak, and I shall live! For here I will unwearied lie, Till thou thy Spirit give. How would my fainting soul rejoice, Could I but see thy face! Now let me hear thy quickening voice, And taste thy pardoning grace!
Praise the Lord. I grew up hearing and singing this song. As a little girl I did not get the words correctly. I sang what it sounded like. Now when I sing it...God's presence fills me thru and thru. Praise God for rich history of singing those old meter hymns.
man i remember these days...i was 6 years old in '89 ....songs like this put a lot of things in perspective...these songs are more than just good music, the lyrics mean so much more

it's so good to see videos like this from Macon!!!!!! It's been a while since I held hands with the members of Macedonia and did their devotion hymns... Love ya'll.
I pray that whoever you are on this link that you will come to know God and accept His invitation to accept Jesus as your Saviour. For those who are returning repent, and God will forgive you and rejoice over you. This magnificent song is a reminder that when everything falls apart, we can stretch out our hands to God, He alone hears and can answer our hopeless situations. Psalm 34.4. “I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Baby, you still have the call on your life...When God gives you a gift, he does not take it from you...It is up to you to use it...It is call free will...He is a forgiving God, a Sovereign God, THE ONLY LIVING GOD...No matter how bad you think your sins are/were, God loves you just the same...Try him son, and see if he don't welcome you home...I am praying for you...
What pain and agony....Somethings have a tendency to trigger/ push you back into intense grief. I lost a very special person by murder and the things I've experienced and experiecing has put me back in that place....
LOL, I was thinking this is Pastor Dewey Smith's son, and said to myself oh my how this young man looks just like his father, but it is actually him, himself, Pastor Dewey Smith at 19y.o. I have never meant Pastor Smith but his ministry has truly blessed me way here in Baltimore, MD. God Bless you Pastor Smith (still laughing at myself).
If you are supposed to 'preach' ....if you have the 'call'... you are tormented forever? .... I wish I had someone to.... support me? My life is now ruined by sin... Don't let this happen to you... young people reading this. My sad story. It's true? William
William Lester I pray your testimony is that you came home and you are doing the work of the Lord who called and chose you before the foundation of the world. Bless you brother!
A person does not have to know U personally, no matter If they are behind a pc or not for we All are humans that have encountered sin, all we do as Christians is to point U and anyone else in the right direction to eliminate any sin and that direction is Jesus Christ, this applies to any man who is alive, you have to establish a relationship with Jesus Christ for there is absolutely nothing to hard for God to handle, he truly loves U and we who are Christians also love U, love U as a brother.
