That section of the state is known for kolaches and other traditional Czech foods because the traditions were brought over and kept alive, and the locals fell in love with the food.

Not just Northwest Texas. Central, and Southeast Texas as well. The kolač was introduced to Texas by Czech immigrants in the 19th century.
