I know this isn't THE main theme, but when MGS4 came out and that music wasn't allowed to be used anymore, it genuinely made me sad. One of my favourite ever themes, for videogames or films.
This definitely can play in the movie. i can already see it. Movie opens with 0:04 Showing fade ins and outs of a shadowy figure covered in scars practicing kata in a cabin deep in Alaska(similar to how the pilot of Cowboy Bebop shows Spike the first time). The camera pans across the floor as this theme plays, showing empty liquor bottles, packets of cigarettes, photos of the man in the military much younger...happier. Newspaper clippings taped to the wall, some of which reads "Big Boss dead!" "War criminal taken down in....." "Who is Solid Snake? The shocking truth!" "Solid Snake disappears. Wanted for questi...." "Solid Snake...man, myth....or conspiracy?" 0:33 Kicks in after some time, as the figure gets dressed, readies his dogs and we piece together this person is now in the middle of a dog sleding race. The music ramps up(as does the race) as the weather conditions(blizzard) triggers war experiences and signs of PTSD, dead bodies in the snow come alive and scream in pain, visions of past battles form in the blizzard(magic realism) until he sees a...grey fox which forces him to crash at 1:47 He lays in the snow until he hears a voice(another memory) of an older man calling his name a feint whisper.."Snaaake, it's not over...not yet" 1:54 The man, "Snake" picks himself up and sees the fox has vanished. Back up, he now finishes the race. He doesn't win it, but waiting for him at the finish is a man, an old friend, a Colonel who needs him for a mission....
@@matiasfaccini9995 BRO ... I can already see the intro in my head: Camera is flying over the ocean towards an Island. Dark shadows begin to loom beneath the waves, and the faint silhouette of a submerged metal structure emerges. At 0:33 a muffled explosion in the distance, shaking the water. Suddenly, the camera shifts upward and accelerates, breaching the surface. We are met with the rocky, snow-covered shores of Shadow Moses Island, the camera flying low across the coastline, revealing steel fences and the imposing walls of the island’s military facilities. We also see some soldiers walking. At 1:00, as the camera closes in on the complex, flying around in the buildings. The sound of an alert siren echoes across the island the moment the camera sees a camera. Searchlights swing violently from left to right, illuminating a figure in the distance. At 1:26, the camera zooms in, focusing on a man’s shadowy silhouette, dressed in tactical gear. His headband flutters in the wind. The figure turns slightly, and cigarette smoke curling into the freezing air ... Solid Snake. 1:48 A voiceover begins, Snake’s raspy voice: "Kept you waiting, huh?" The words linger as the Metal Gear Solid logo fades back in, accompanied by the familiar, chilling tones of the main theme. P.S. The flying camera could also been from the POV from a nikita gun that is flying around.
@@solblackguy Harry Gregson Williams studied under Hans, and at the time was working for him. Hans was asked but in an interview it was said he was "too expensive." Hans actually warned Harry against doing it, telling him "you didn't get into this to compose for games." What we got was a production which used Hans Zimmers Media Ventures library, and since Harry was under Zimmer's guidance at the time, we likely received something very similar to what Hans would have done.
Snake was my hero growing up, lets just say he had more influence on me than my own father, I am beyond excited knowing MGS3 is getting the remake. Hm, kept you waiting huh?
Nice cover did you intend on the orchestra sounding as dry and raw? It works well with the synths. I always go for more sustain and staccato type vibes when ive covered this over the years. Your version gives it a near rock feel / mild edm vibe Neat
Thanks man, appreciate it…. the staccato strings started really wet but they got lost in the mix so gradually kept pulling it forward. I figured it’s the most iconic part of the track so should be the main focus
This is amazing! I've stumbled upon one of your covers and been listening to quite a few since. Your arrangements are godly. One thing though, do you use a lot of stereo separation or just L/R panning with no Center? Everything sounds too "wide" to me.
Thanks man, really appreciate it. Yea I agree with the panning on this one, it’s a bit off. I normally pan the orchestra and place the synths, kicks, lower percussion in the middle. Obviously I didn’t use as much of those in this track and didn’t compensate
Solid Snake: "Otacon, there's a gorilla wearing a tie here. He's huge!" Otacon: "That's Donkey Kong. As you can tell, he's got strength to spare. He may be king of the jungle, but he lives in a house just like you or me. And he seems pretty smart - Well, for an ape, anyway. The Donkey Kong who fought that epic battle with Mario was this guy's grandfather."

Thanks man… the main ones I used are Albion one and metropolis ark 1 for the orchestra. Heavyocity Damage 2 for the percussion and Keepforest devastator for the trailer FX/synths

What do you mean it wasn’t allowed?
@@ParbleCrow it sounded too similar to winter road
@@tuomashanninen4001 Weird cuz they used it again in mgs5, "big boss returns" guess they settled the matter and were allowed to use it again

funnily enough if Konami had paid like a very small amount of money to whoever owned the song at the time we could still have it
The only thing better than this cover was listening to the theme for the first time back in 1997! Amazing work you did here.

This right here is what Hans Zimmer would have done. Great job man.
Come to think of it, Hans Zimmer would’ve been the perfect composer for a Metal Gear Solid movie
@@mayochup makes sense considering the soundtrack was very Hans Zimmer inspired
