Everything that Ardbeg touches is glorious. The workers there are super humble as well . If I made what they made, I'd be strutting around with a giant gold chain like Dan. Thanks for the review on this!
I've gotten to the point being satisfied watching you two drink these expensive rare whiskies I know I'll never be able to try. I basically just live vicariously through you guys now.
Holy cow! They answered my question! I was actually drinking a my second second glass of Macallan 12 double cask while watching this video. When Daniel looked at the camera and said to keep working on the palette, it was one of the coolest moments ever. It felt like I was having a drink with the grandfather somm and the master mooch. Thanks for the encouragement love the videos!
I was there at dinner with Rex and Brad, and Rex tried everything to creep Brad out and get him to back down, but Brad would not be fazed. It was hilarious.
They say... Brad LeClerc, the Whisk(e)y Demigod, was forged from the purest Canadian ice and birthed by Zeus so mere mortals could have a hero -- a true champion of the pweeple. Fighting the good fight, he is somewhere between Somm & Mooch. With the whisk(e)y strength of 10 ordinary MBs!
Eric Schwab you have figured him out. He wants to be the first Canadian to hold office in the USA. He figures just get everybody drunk and they will vote for whomever
The point Rex makes toward the end is a good one and should be absorbed by all who watch. The Ardbeg 10 is fantastic whisky priced correctly with an age statement at 46% and not filtered. (it may in fact have a little colour in it.) It should be supported. The hunger to buy whatever new NAS Ardbeg releases should be assuaged by the existence of the TEN. Buy it, love it. It's a fine example.
Hey Daniel and Rex! I just recently found out that two prominent woman in the whiskey industry graduated from my engineering program at the University of Louisville! Andrea Wilson is the Master of Maturation at Michter's, and Marianne Barnes is the Master Distiller at Castle & Key. My question for you guys is, what is the difference between a Master of Maturation and a Master Distiller? Fun Fact: Mrs. Barnes was the first woman to be named Master Distiller in Kentucky since prohibition :)
One deals with the barrel aging and the other deals with distilling. Of the two, the aging would be the most artsy crafts and distilling would be the more science and data driven in my humble and ignorant opinion
Appreciate the Ardbeg 10 comparison and the notes of the two. Not sure if I’ll ever be able to get my hands on the 21, but the 10 is definitely in my price range and future. Cheers gents.
Ardbeg is definitely one my fav distillery these days. I went to a tasting in my hometown hosted by the Canadian National Brand Manager for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, Ruaraidh "ROO-ry" McIntyre (his dad still works at Ardbeg Distillery on Islay). What an evening - we got to taste Ardebg 10 yo, Ardbeg An Oa, Ardbeg Uigedail, Ardbeg Corryvrekan, Ardbeg Dark Cove Commitee release and Ardbeg Kelpie Commitee release. Beautiful!
Oh my Stars and Garters !!!! or should I say... Ball Sacks!!! The Glencarin shelf is FULL!!!! Looks like Rex finally returned the glasses. Good Boy Rex!!!!
This whisky sounds incredible. Been following the channel for almost 6 months and I find myself watching every new episode I see on my TH-cam feed. Can’t get enough, even if I haven’t been a whiskey fan much during that time (been all about craft beer) but decided to try getting into whiskeys. I had tried the sample sizes of glenmorangie original and Chivas 12 with not too much luck until I watched your JW double black video and decided to go balls in on a bottle. Absolutely love it and want to get into more Islay blends and single malts. However being that I’m 22 And just really starting my adventure into the beautiful world of whisky without a ton of disposable income, my question to the tribe is. What are your best damn “budget” islay whiskeys?
When friends ask me how to get to the point where they can experience subtlety and nuance in whiskey, I always say the same thing. I have them think of something they already know really well (mostly use coffee bc alot of ppl drink it) and have them remember what it was like when they first started drinking it and how they got to the point where they can decide what is a good coffee. Most ppl will agree all coffee tasted very similar at first and it wasn't until they drank it long enough, and experienced enough of it, were they finally able to taste small differences. Same thing applies to whisky. I've found if u give examples of something they already know, they'll realize the path to understanding both are virtually the same. Time and experience trumps all.
If you guys don't think it's THAT much better than the 10, I can just swing by later and take the rest of that 21 back with me. No problem at all :P I converted 3 or 4 people to the #cultofardbeg with that bottle already!
Following the videos and your love of Wild Turkey and all Things Matthew Mcconaughey, hopefully you guys can get your hands on the new Wild Turkey Longbranch to try it out!
The way you describe the difference between Dark Cove and the 21 year, Dark cove is the journey one goes on with the ups and downs as they happen, the 21 year is the Icelandic poetic edda telling of the journey. Now I must find a bottle haha
Thats one insane whisky the Ardbeg 21yr but sold out rather quickly here in the UK, Brad you MB and great video guys. Have you guys tried the new Ardbeg Grooves as it's one which I've been curious about as I'm a big fan of the Uigeadail. Slainte! The Drone was scouting out the Whiskey Vault!
Whisky kindred! Can you possibly manage to get your hands on a bottle of the French whisky, called Rozellieures single malt whisky, rare collection. AND do a review of it please.
Poor uninitiated bastards who come across this video looking for a review of a fine 21 year old Ardbeg, and then having to endure listening to two guys talking about waxing each other, before getting to the actual review. On the other hand, if they stay and subscribe, they're the real deal!
saw glenfarclas 21 back there, love it, that is my first ever whisky. Could, you guys do a video on that, please? Also, 21years old glenfiddich rum finish video would be also fantastic. Cheers
I have a question that had nothing to do with Ardbeg, but just the whisky vault in general. It could be you’ve said it in an earlier episode, but then i have missed it. Anyway, why is the Vault itself on like the 4th? Floor of the building? I suppose Texas doesnt get earthquake, but to me it would seem more logical to have it on the ground floor or basement.
Dear Biker-Hobbit and Convenience-Store-Brand-Gandalf: after watching this video, I have a question for you. Would it be fair to say that Daniel is more of an Ardbeg 10 and Rex is more the 21, in that Daniel "spreads himself out more" by going into the history and making of the whisk[e]ys he reviews, whereas Rex is the more "private" and mysterious one? Follow up question: if so, does that mean that Rex represents all Daniel could become if he would shut the f*ck up for a second and just drink the whisk[e]y?
I have tried a good few single malts and all the regular blends you see on a shelf but i wanted to try something new and was 50 50 on an Octomore or a friendly Macallan. What would you recommend.
I don’t get much “protein/meat” from Ardbeg Ten. Smoke, lots of cereal sweetness (oatmeal), lemons, black pepper and a little licorice with a cigar ash finish.
So this tobacco note that people seem to often find in islay's presents its self as almost the exact same smell as a fresh can of Copenhagen original. I find it to be most prominent in the laphroaig select.
Hi Daniel and Rex, Ardbeg the question of to buy or not to buy. What the hell do do if roll the dice on a whisky you have never tried snd find out you truly hate it? Do invite friends over and start with your best whisky, but end with the whisky you to kill
Great channel. I’m new here but picking up a lot of good info and love the combo of you two which is as finely balanced as some of the whiskeys you imbibe. You also have me hooked into expanding my horizons and annoying my friends with newly acquired knowledge that they secretly enjoy. Btw cracking open a 33 glenlivet with my father for his 71 which he received on his 70 in the coming week. Interested in your opinions of it. . Looking forward to that. Question - you often mention adjectives to describe the nose and flavors that vary depending on the choice of the moment, such as Smokey, fruity, apricot, leather, the list goes on and on. Aside from the smokiness being attributed to the peat , what methods are used to infuse or bring out some of the other flavors? Do they actually add florals or fruits etc to the mix? Is it the barrel? Or is it wizardry of another kind? Cheers.
Posted about the Vault on the most recent Ryan Is Driving video. (A channel about a guys who drives Uber and records his adventures). He was randomly invited into this guy's house who claims to have the largest whiskey collection in the South East (of America). I have to say, it's impressive. He even said he had an open bottle of 50 year old Macallan. If you guys are interested in content like that, go check out his most recent video (not even close to the most exciting video he has, but it has a ton of whiskey towards the end). :D
Oh what's that your Honor? Yes, I took some of her 401K and decided to divest a little and bought some Ardbeg 21. Oh no your Honor, I don't know how the bottle got emptied. Cheers.
I actually ordered it from the US and never touched it before getting out here to Austin because the shipping was WAAAAY cheaper than the absurd Canadian taxes I would have had to pay to get a bottle locally and then bring it down. So no GST for those government types from me... well... not for THAT bottle anyway lol
Brad, you would have fit in perfectly with those old time scallawags who ran whiskey supply ships in international waters off the coast of the US during prohibition.... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_McCoy_(bootlegger)
Great review. I will have to try the 10 since it is more in my price range . So tomorrow.....a waxing we will go , a waxing we will go , hi ho the dario a waxing we will go Hey ! Wax the fiddly bits
Brad Leclerc has definitely earned his DemiGod status. As for the 'enticing' description of the Ardbeg - 'protein-y biscuits'? Ewww. Of all the things to have wandering around in the nasal cavity, that.
Oh crap that send button will the death of me. I think I will just buy the Ardbeg and drink like Daniel and Rex say and just drink the damn whisky. And a final thought for days when you so tired every episode is whipping your butt, do you remember Boston Legal ending, so why not get two extremely comfortable over stuffed leather chairs with round drinking table and cigar humidor. Of courseI, if do you this I will not apologize to your wives for that fateful decision. - Just Mose
Damn it. You guys suck. :P I was saving for some Lag16, but now I have to go buy some Ardbeg 10. Ok, maybe having my first few (read as several) drams of Laphroaig 10 last week might have something to do with it. I suddenly need to try Ardbeg.
Rex’s new hair thing is just that....a thing. Bald, waxed, poached, peeled, sliced, or diced you have to face the fact it’s still JUST plain old REX, no matter what he does.....sigh.
Everything that Ardbeg touches is glorious. The workers there are super humble as well . If I made what they made, I'd be strutting around with a giant gold chain like Dan.
Thanks for the review on this!
So what you are saying is that I shouldn’t be using Ardbeg only as an aftershave?
I've gotten to the point being satisfied watching you two drink these expensive rare whiskies I know I'll never be able to try. I basically just live vicariously through you guys now.

Out REXing Rex is the only civil non-violent hope you have in such a situation.
Im so loving old smuggler

Canadian Whisky Smith I am so proud of my demi-husband-whiskey-god for championing the pweeple and providing them all the whiskeys!
It all sounds too good to be purely altruistic. Is he running for office? Lol!
Eric Schwab you have figured him out. He wants to be the first Canadian to hold office in the USA. He figures just get everybody drunk and they will vote for whomever
Oh GOD! Vote for anyone? That’s what happened in 2016! Lol!
He can drink for free as President. Start making your “must have” potables list!
The point Rex makes toward the end is a good one and should be absorbed by all who watch. The Ardbeg 10 is fantastic whisky priced correctly with an age statement at 46% and not filtered. (it may in fact have a little colour in it.)
It should be supported. The hunger to buy whatever new NAS Ardbeg releases should be assuaged by the existence of the TEN. Buy it, love it. It's a fine example.

Can you guys review Ardbeg Uigeadail?
Compare Ardbeg 10, Uigeadail, and Corryvreckan
Good on you Brad. May the Demigod live a long life of shenanigans, Giving, and Mooching.
Appreciate the Ardbeg 10 comparison and the notes of the two. Not sure if I’ll ever be able to get my hands on the 21, but the 10 is definitely in my price range and future. Cheers gents.
Is a sommelier + mooch hybrid known as a “smooch”?
Ardbeg is definitely one my fav distillery these days. I went to a tasting in my hometown hosted by the Canadian National Brand Manager for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, Ruaraidh "ROO-ry" McIntyre (his dad still works at Ardbeg Distillery on Islay). Ardbeg 21 😮 must be something amazing 🥃😋!!
Brad is slowly becoming a major part of the whiskey tribe.
he's a good guy. very active and he showed up in person. glad to shine the spotlight on MB's like that.
Still a "good guy" after yesterday's events? You must still be in shock! Lawl.
If you guys like the Ardbeg 21 then you must try the Ardbeg Twenty Something (23 yr old).

LOL!
I need that Laphroaig 500 Year Old to convert them to the #FriendsOfLaphroaig !!
Brad LaClerc is the wierd al yankovic of the tribe this explains his abnormal somm mooch phenomenon.
He is "Pretty Fly For a White Guy"
Following the videos and your love of Wild Turkey and all Things Matthew Mcconaughey, hopefully you guys can get your hands on the new Wild Turkey Longbranch to try it out!
The way you describe the difference between Dark Cove and the 21 year, Dark cove is the journey one goes on with the ups and downs as they happen, the 21 year is the Icelandic poetic edda telling of the journey. Now I must find a bottle haha
Top ten "iconic Islay's"!!!
I am watching this with a brand new bottle of ardbeg 10. Starting to get more complexity from islay whisky

Welcome to the BRAD SHOW!
CULT OF ARDBEG ASSEMBLE!!
I'm already here!
The 2 man cult
Daniel Brower #FriendsOfLaphroaig forever !!!
This reminded me that I owe Daniel a revision of a tasting sheet. Lemme got on that rill quick.
How come every one of your videos make my head feel like exploding with weirdness? And why am I getting addicted? 😂😂😂
Damn it Rex! Son of a bean bag is going to be my new favorite saying...... Also all Hail Ardbeg!
What a beautiful shot of the vault. You should walk off camera together more often.
Dear Biker-Hobbit and Convenience-Store-Brand-Gandalf: after watching this video, I have a question for you. Do a review for laphroaig triple wood
Hi Daniel and Rex,
Ardbeg the question of to buy or not to buy. What the hell do do if roll the dice on a whisky you have never tried snd find out you truly hate it? Do invite friends over and start with your best whisky, but end with the whisky you to kill
I found a box of Black Art at a small liquor store in the city a week or so ago, but at $340 I couldn't justify buying it
Can you try to make a Arlbeg 21?
Ardbeg 10 in south Georgia runs about 70$ :(
Is ardbeg 10 and 21 from the same "base" only 21 is older or is the malt somehow different ?
Isn’t the 200th anniversary whiskey the perpetum?
Bring back another REX WEEEEEEEK!!
Also to go with it a Daniel week where Daniel goes full out whiskey nerd!!!
Y'all should try Texas Crown Club Whiskey 🥃

I was very happy to learn that "busy baby" wasn't racist lol
And that is why Brad is a Demigod.
So I'll be coming by to drop off another whiskey. Is there any way that I could ry the octave that I donated since I have no had it.
if we're available, of course. brad was at a class so it was easy. short of that, fridays between 430-530 usually work if D knows you're coming.
Can you guys review “JTS Brown”?
I want "Passport Scotch" review!
*Google search for 10y Ardbeg at the local store* Yep, its $100 in Canada

Speaking of waxing...
Is #waxrex still a thing??
Yay!!!!
Rex, all waxing and shenanigans aside what is your favorite islay under $100 I don't feel like enough of the pweeble ask you questions like this
Soommmooch!
Something about that just doesn't sound QUITE right. haha
Oh what's that your Honor? Yes, I took some of her 401K and decided to divest a little and bought some Ardbeg 21. Oh no your Honor, I don't know how the bottle got emptied. Cheers.
I was hoping, that you mix a bit of 10 with 21 and see if some magic will happen ... maybe next time ...
Ardbeg 10 for $30?? Can’t find it under $50 in California or Oregon.
Socialist states always add on something extra to all
Prices for the pweeple! Lol!
It's more like $80 usd up here in the Frozen wastelands of Ontario... Still hella cheaper than the 21 though haha
Brad Leclerc The pweeple thank you for the GST you paid on that sucker!
I actually ordered it from the US and never touched it before getting out here to Austin because the shipping was WAAAAY cheaper than the absurd Canadian taxes I would have had to pay to get a bottle locally and then bring it down. I think now is the time to shave Rexs's hair, he sporting a man bun.... Just saying.

Witness me!!
All Hail ARDBEG!
Lol u mooched daniels whiskey and caught his karma cold rex!
Where is ardbeg 10 $30!? Lies!
Shaun Garland I think it was ‘protein-y brisket’ ..... dunno if that’s better or worse? 🤷🏼♀️
Ardbeg 10 to me is pure smoke. I like it but that's all I smell or taste.
Ardbeg 10 is about $55 in central indiana, worth every penny! #cultofardbeg
Was Chad drunk when posting this video? 😆
The title says Ardbeg 21 + Lagavulin 16 Cameo.
But no Lagavulin 16.
Update: Thanks for the title edit.
I left for two months, come back, and Daniel sounds like he’s got a damn stoma for half the video 😂
- Just Mose
If you’re all thirst, I may be first.
John Barry yes
you guys just made me hungry. I am curious as how a son of a bean bag look like.
Nothing wrong with dudes waxing dudes, if you respect a man you should be willing to rip the hair from his body.
85th thirst
Yay Daniel hit puberty...
What's up with your voice Dan? To much singing?
He had been teaching a whiskey somm necklace for two days this point on basically no sleep. I'm sort of amazed he could stay conscious at all.
Ardbeg 21... Gig. A. Dee.
#chadweek
Waxing dudes, since 2018 I guess!
Fuck, finally..... the book looks cool but I gotta say, the real pay off is realizing Danny boy over there looks like a bearded bush baby......
Bald, waxed, poached, peeled, sliced, or diced you have to face the fact it’s still JUST plain old REX, no matter what he does.....sigh.
you're welcome?
Lol! Fish on the line! Reeling it in nice and slow! I knew that catfish would bite sooner or later! Lol
I used cheez whiz flavored bacon for bait! Lol!

Man buns are illegal or at least should be. Get rid of that thing.
