    Refreshing Video. Loved the soundtrack. Great still at the end before the videos popup. Amazing. Beautiful hike! I've done this same hike back in the early 2000's when Ultralight wasn't a thing and I was new to backpacking. 55lb pack and all. Yikes it was heavy! Got dehydrated mid-way through, didn't recognize the symptoms of heat exhaustion or dehydration. Finished anyway and ended up in the hospital for 2 days with IV's. Never made the same mistake again. Brings back memory's seeing this! Thanks!!!

    Thanks for the memories.

    I've done parts of this trail going to other lakes separately, but never as a full loop. I'm debating doing it this summer, after the PCT. Just to get in another scenic trail, and that's one of my favorite areas. Do you remember what spots you camped at each night? Thanks for sharing your beautiful video.

    Sorry your camera is still doing the bad audio thing, I enjoyed your cinematic shots, but I did miss your explanations/speaking to the camera, and I feel like it could have benefitted from more quick real time shots and less timelapses. Still a fan! Will always watch your videos 😊

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was 2+ hours of footage and most people don’t watch videos over 5 minutes long so I tried to keep it short. I’m just trying some new editing techniques until something sticks. I kept getting told by SO many people that my talking head shots were annoying so I’ve stopped filming like that completely.

    In prepping for my loop around the 3 sis, I see this 2018 vid. (I went up the pct about 30 days b4 you guys) Hey, what’s the tyvek over the thermarest do for you inside the tent? Curious.

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My sleeping pad was collecting condensation in the little cups so I put the tyvek sheet on. I feel like it also made it warmer.

      Hike Oregon excellent. I just bought Exped’s new 1.5” blue foam z pad. Will use under my neotherm winter pad, mostly for comfort side sleeping. And yes, tyvek is wonderful. Been using it for groundcloth, dining flys, etc!

    I am working out a 50 miler backpacking trip for a small group of scouts. On all trails this trail is ranked as difficult. Do you agree with this? Do you have any advice on a great 50 loop trail in Oregon I could take 15 scouts? Thank you in advanced

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I would rate it as difficult. You probably won’t be able to take such a large group on this hike because it is quite difficult to get permits now for this area. I would recommend the Diamond Peak wilderness since you won’t need limited entry permits. I am happy to help you plan your itinerary www.hikeoregon.net/store/p126/Diamond_Peak_Wilderness_Tailored_Trip_Itinerary.html

    Great video!
    A few questions:
    Why the Tyvek-looking cover for your sleep pad? Dirt mitigation perhaps?
    Looking to do the 3 Sisters trail next summer. How hammock-friendly do you think it is? As in are there plenty of trees? Many of the stretches look fairly tree-less in your video.
    Like the new video format, but also enjoy you talking and explaining stuff too.
    I live in Portland and your trip videos have given me some great insight into future trips.
    Thank you!!

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Earlier in the summer I had issues with condensation issues between my mat and sleeping bag (I think because my sleeping bag is so warm), so a wonderful subscriber sent me a Tyvek piece and my mother in law sewed it into a sheet. There are trees at every campsite we were at. They are quite small trees so I'm not sure how sturdy they'd be for hammock camping. Many people don't like my talking head shots in my hiking videos so I wanted to try something different :).

    Did you get a paper map or did you use one on your phone or is it pretty easy to follow the trails without a map? I've done the hike up to south sister and I've hiked by the witchus creek before but I'm not familiar with the other parts of the trails!

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely had a physical map that we referred to at pretty much every intersection. There isn’t a Three Sisters Loop Trail, you’re just on different trails that connect to one another so you have to make sure to stay on the right trail. All the intersections are marked by signs though so if you have a map it is easy to follow.
