He's Super Mystic Sonic but with somehow less movement control. Unless you're cracked on addy you're just gonna fly into walls and off the map. Also you pretty much have to change characters if it's a water level and you're not just skipping all the water parts. He's annoyingly useless in any amount of water which is unfortunate, though a funny nod to Sonic X. I'd hoped he'd be more flexible so that normal players could enjoy him too. I love the design and his easter eggs and even the bloodlust mechanic but overall he's just a less intuitive SMS and is meant to skip 90% of the level. If you actually want to play the game and go through the levels he's just not granular enough in his movement. You're either going incredibly slow or incredibly fast. At least SMS had ways to stop movement like the ground slam. I still think X Sonic is really cool and artistically awesome. If they either add a more granular mode to him where he has more control or expand on his movement abilities to allow actual methodical gameplay instead of just memorizing and practicing jumps and angles like it's CS, he'd be excellent. I can appreciate and understand skillful usage of movement to beat the level quickly, and expect a lot of "git gud lol," but that is such a specific playstyle catered to only veterans who wanna beat the levels in as short a time as possible. I was just never an SMS "beat each level in under 20 seconds" kinda player, so it sucks that that gives me a lot less to look forward to as a result. Let me know if I'm missing anything, cheers!"
When it comes to character design, there's really no question. It's really cool, every animation looks gorgeous. And in terms of gameplay, it's really weird

@@DoMikoto absolutely! real talent and love went into the sprites and personality, but the gameplay unfortunately falls flat in 90% of use cases unless you have a pre-planned route. if you agree with these types of sentiments please upvote reviews on the mod page so that it doesn't get neglected! To get tutorial x, there are 3 ways, 1: Get an 100% save data and go to extras, click on level select and find tutorial x (must have xpack) 2: Go on an 100% save slot (any char) And go find tutorial x (just like the first way) 3: type "devmode 2" in the console and then type "map xa"
I hate how a mod made for speedrunners became one of the most well-known SRB2 mods (because of those channels with the structure "Sonic _____"). I'm not kidding, on my country, I saw a youtuber with 12K subscribers open a stream where he plays through SRB2 with X Sonic and he has NEVER played SRB2 before as he states that. Result? He finished GFZ1 in 6 minutes. Seriously, when people say "SRB2 has great mods", they don't know what they're talking about. Mods solely make SRB2 the best Sonic game to me.
In all honesty, it's a pretty hard character to get. Not to mention I don't think it saves with each bootup of the game, unlike the solchars. So that means to get Dark Sonic, Domikoto would have to do various challenges, some unfair depending on if you're using a modpack or not, every single time he boots into a game.
