RIP Mr. Speranza and thank you for your service and love of our country. My Dad was a proud member of the 517th Abn RCT in WWII and taught me the original version of this song when I was a kid. It's both sad and good to see that it has added verses for the generations that followed amd that one of the traditions that started with those amazing men is still around today.

My great uncle died in a POW camp in World War II and we have identified his remains and he is now rested by his parents.
