I think repeating lyrics can be really effective in illustrating when an artist dwells on a topic or wants the listener to think closely about something. Sufjan Stevens on "Casimir Pulaski Day" ending the song with "And he takes, and he takes, and he takes" is so heart-wrenching exactly because he repeats the line, as though Stevens himself is trying to come to terms with it or grappling with his own faith over the death of a friend.
LETS ARGUE: Fear Inoculum is the perfect single release for Tool. It sounds enough like their previous stuff to motivate old heads and new listeners to go back and stream their released discography.
Fruciante's "Central" has a really strong utilization of lyric repetition that really compliments not only that track on its own, but the entirety of The Empyrian!
As an enthusiast in Dadaist art i must say the closest popular music has ever come has to be DEVO, especially their first two records. The group has gone on record saying that they are highly inspired by Dadaism, forming their group as a disgusted reaction to the disappointments of the 60s and the Vietnam war, just as Dadaism formed as a disgusted response to WW1. Devo were also incredibly strange, original, and provocative, all traits strongly affiliated with dadaism
