We lost both Shockwave and its driver today at Battle Creek. Chris Darnell was by all means an amazing showman who even with a machine that would make it hard to be humble, was one chilled-out nice guy. The Airshow world will never forget this man’s showman spirit and the machine he handled so well.
Video never does this thing justice... I only saw it once years ago, but it stuck with me. The acceleration is pretty shocking, and the overall scale and speed feels unnatural. Kind of a lame and childish gimmick in theory, but when you see it you realize it's actually awesome.
Seriously. When was the last time a top fuel car hit 350... yes, they would smoke the truck on a circle track... but in a straight line? With the TURBINE weighing more than a top fuel car? This is fucking impressive
Actually a top fuel car will go from a stand still to 340mph in about 3.7sec,this look like around 12 seconds to get to 348.No comparison at all.And WTF are you going on about a circle track???
