Episode Summary:
After much resistance, Judith convinces Michonne to help Magna's group by escorting them to Hilltop. While setting up radio transmitting equipment, Rosita and Eugene are followed by a strangely-acting herd of walkers. Carol takes the teenage Henry to Hilltop to apprentice as a blacksmith; they are ambushed by Jed, Regina and several former Saviors who steal their supplies. Carol later burns the group alive and takes Henry to visit Daryl, who is living alone in the wilderness. Negan remains a prisoner in Alexandria but has apparently adopted a less antagonistic attitude.

This was such a great episode. The Girl that plays judith is so good and I immediately loved her.
Henry's actor is REAL brother of actress who played SOPHIA (Carol's daughter-turned-zombie in season 1 & 2).
okay, check it... it's been 6 years between rick getting blown up and flown out to wherever TF he went, and when we saw judith rescue this new group (magna, yumiko, connie, kelly, and luke). there was even a "six years later" prompt on the screen but you were freaking out about rick getting blown up and missed it.
We’ve seen that Judith likes to help people I think that’s why we’ve seen her talking to Negan I assume for the past 6 years she’s been talking to him and bringing out a better side of him.
Favorite J-Leisim of this reaction..."I guarantee she's(Carol) gonna find a way to get that back!" when that Savior took her wedding ring....you know our Carol so well!
Idk if it's been mentioned but random TWD trivia: the actress who played Carol's daughter Sophia, the actor who played little Henry and the actor who now plays big Henry are all siblings. 🫶🏽
Henry (younger and older) was played by brothers. They both did pretty well!

Grown up Judith seems so cool! And yes I heard RJ and almost died! Michonne was preggars when Rick “died”! Rick Jr I assume! Loving this new world and all the new things we get like the council and RJ and Judith and Negan talking, the new ppl seem awesome! Love to see ur reactions to season 9!!
I have a quick story. Once when I was young my mom had to handle a situation with another woman over a fight me and another kid had. Not much later after it happened my very old drunk uncle told me a mom will suck a D*** or Cut one off to protect her child. After seeing this episode as a man I finally understood what he meant. Side note: I didn’t at the time because I was about 11 when he told me that. Shame/Thanks for that Uncle Bobby.

In the new group Connie is the deaf woman and Kelly (The one with the short hair) is her sister Connie is actually deaf IRL and Kelly is losing her hearing IRL

People give Magna way too much crap in this episode They were on the road for 10 years Of course she is gonna be mistrustful Remember Rick in Season 5 with Aaron and Co lol
Right. I always felt that she was actually the smartest one out of her group.
I agree so much with this! I never liked the hypocrisy of the fandom during this episode. When Rick hid guns and everything everyone was all for it but Magna gets crap. She’s looking out for her family. I would say also that unlike Rick she never actually acted in a hostile or threatening way towards the Alexandrians, only suspicion which I honestly don’t blame her for. Love Magna. I’m willing to argue that Magna is one of the kindest and most selfless characters in TWD.

Magna (the feral wild hot chick) reminds me of early Michonne when she first found the group.
This episode feels like a premiere a really REALLY Fantastic premiere.

I am SO GLAD you like the new group especially Magna. I would've been upset if you didn't like her bc so many people didn't. Also honestly Magnas group reminds me of Rick's when they entered Alexandria.

This is another of one of my favourite episodes (GOSH I have so many), as I loved learning about the new group. Going to help you with the names J-Lei. There's Luke (Music Teacher), Magna (jailbird woman who said she waited tables at a Truck Stop), Yumiko (head injury woman), Connie (Journalist/deaf lady who communicates using American Sign Language) & Kelly (young High School student girl talking and signing).
Michonne is not only parenting a 10-year old Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming), same age as Carl was at the beginning of the series, but also an approximately 5-year old son in R.J. (Antony Azor), her child with the supposedly late Rick Grimes; and Judith has been building a secret friendship with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), still imprisoned, now clocking in at roughly eight years inside his jail cell.
Magna: "HEY, can I ask you a question".
Michonne: "NO".😆
Fth. Gabriel & Rosita was a shock to us all - didn't see that one coming, but I guess we wouldn't due to the time jump.
Wasn't happy Eugene jumped and injured his leg after accidentally kicking away the ladder. I remember we were saying DON'T, DON'T just wait for Rosita or call her to hold the ladder,🤦🏽♀️ but HEY-HO it wouldn't be TWD without some tense teeth-gritting drama.🤷🏽♀️
Makes me sad and cry when Judith said to her mummy Michonne she was forgetting Carl & Rick's voices and that they were fading.😢💔

And about the Eugene scene, something that always annoyed me, who doesn’t put the backpack on over both shoulders when climbing down from that height? Could he really be surprised that it fell off when it hung halfway over one shoulder?😂
@@emmaaaa1004That's ME you're talking about Emma, I'm 💯% guilty of this said crime, LOL - have you been spying on me?😂 I have this rucksack or backpack as you American's call it and I swear 9 times out of 10 if I'm taking it with me I'll just sling it over my right shoulder even though it was designed for both shoulders and my daughter always nags me to wear it properly on both shoulders and I'll tell her "I know, it's just easier for me to get to it quickly like this and I can't be bothered to struggle and take it off its too much trouble", then she rightly so lectures me about my chronic lower bad back pain I suffer with daily and that she doesn't want to hear ANY complaining if I hurt my back further and have to endure more sugery and procedures.🥺🥰

Yes she's a sassy cheeky little thing when she's ready, but mostly respectful, she knows not to cross a certain line. She's a young lady now, but when she's in that cheeky mood, do you know I still chase her up the stairs and she runs into her room screaming and slams the door to lock me out then she's struggling to keep it shut, but bad back or not I still show her who's the boss and who is stronger and get that door open then it's game over, I jump on her and pretend to strangle her or smack her bum or some temporary hold until she cannot take it no more or I poke her where I know it tickles her and she screams so loud and begs for mercy.🤣😁 I know, I know I need to grow up, I promise I will one of these days, but they say you're as young as you feel so I say leave me alone. We drive my mother, her Grandmother insane on her visits when we're like that, she moans she cannot stand the noise or she shouts up to me "Karen leave that child alone" and we ignore her its all screams and giggles from both of us and that encourages my daughter because she then starts screaming "GRANDMA SAVE ME, GRANDMA HELP MEEEE", then I'm huffing and puffing at the end of that session completely worn out! Wasted talent, she could have got a good screaming part on TWD too.😜😂
In the meantime, the neighbours must think I'm trying to murder her, they'll call the police on me one of these days I swear.🤣
Just keep in mind that a lot of time has passed by since Rick left So people can change a lot in that time.

J-Lei, have you thought about reacting to/watching Fear the Walking Dead and World Beyond? As a huge fan of the show and story, I think you'd like both of them. No spoilers, but they contain tie ins, crossovers and clues....
I tried to resist .... but .... you have a child in Judith that progressed in age from about 2 to about 9. You have Henry who aged from about 10 to about 16. Take a deep breath and absorb what's there. You get all the other more difficult subtleties ... but ....
I’ve been begging them to show Judith the tapes for AGES 😭
Rick has a son he never met. Rosie is pregnant with Zeke's baby and married to Gabriel. Judith runs around in woods killing all alone without a guardian and befriends Negan. Henry finally gets to go on a trip with Carol. I say a lot has happened.

In his defense w/o subtitles on (along with commentating at the moment perhaps) it's definitely a easy miss or will at least have you asking yourself "did I just hear what I think I heard?!?" 🤔

It seems you missed a MAJOR plot point in the final scene when Rosita and Eugene hid in the mud.
As one of the Zombies appeared to talk to the others and they both hear faint whispers of "Where are they?" and "They must be close, don't let them get away", as the horde passes so you'll need to watch that scene again.
There was a 6 year time jump at the end of episode 9x05 ( and a 1 and half year one between episodes 8x16 & 9x05 ) making Judith 9 years old now.
Episode 8x16 takes place on day 628 ( 1 year, 8 months, 23 days ) of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Episode 9x01 takes place on day 1,170 ( 3 years, 2 months, 15 days ) of the Zombie Apocalypse.
In episode 9x05 Rick floats down the river and is saved by Ann /Jadis after the bridge explosion on day 1,207 ( 3 years, 3 months, 22 day ) of the Zombie Apocalypse.
The end of episode 9x05 and all of episode 9x06 takes place on days 4,056 - 4,058 ( 11 years, 1 month 13 days ) of the Zombie Apocalypse.
The reason Carol let her hair grow long was because she felt safe with her husband, Ezekiel, as you recall she cut it all off so her husband Ed couldn't grab her by it when beating her.
The actor, Matt Lintz who plays older Henry is the older brother of the actor Macsen Lintz, who played younger Henry and they both are the younger brothers of actress Madison Lintz who played Carol's daughter, Sophia Peletier in SE1 & SE2.
Negan's been in jail for almost 8 years now.

the time skip is 6 years, the biggest twd has ever done. judith is now 9 instead of 3.
You stopped ur review a bit early. You missed Rosita n Eugene hiding and what they heard. That would of shaken ur views on this episode, its still great but you missed a major discovery.
