I'm addicted to watching your videos ATM, my Psyker gameplay has improved a lot because of you. Kudos to you and also the peeps you play with, they are so skilled.
I have realized that horde control is very crucial in 4th difficulty, and good ogryn is hard to comeby, so I also use this flame staff like chocob here. The result was awsome, especially when I met 3 rangers. I keep them safe during horde and they make sure no specials touch us. They even let me use brain burst properly
If you have the MK V Combat axe + peril block feat you can be very safe during hordes while dishing out massive damage. You can just infinite chain push attack. You will lose out on deflector + force sword utility, but gain a lot of damage in return.
@@giaanluu1583 unsure about the cleave diff. But it seems like it's dmg is one of the higher ones for axes. If you get brutal momentum blessing you get unlimited cleave on a headshot anyways.
@@ABC14412 Ye all the combat axes and tactical axes are insanely strong with brutal momentum. @@phxloki I find the really short delay and superior reach to combat knife makes the dueling sword a fantastic defensive option. Clears slower than power sword, but I am less likely to take chip damage
Personally I would like to see more pistol options for the veteran and zealot classes. For example having a plasma pistol or an inferno pistol on zealot would be cool. Also adding a power axe would be cool.
Hello! Nice video! I am currently trying to find the melee weapon I prefer on Damnation as I find the Force Sword is letting me down on hordes a bit, and unlike this team you are playing with, people often just don't stick around to let me flame. I have noticed that at around 3:32ish, you slide and swing your weapon. Is there some sort of movement enhancing property of the duelling sword here? What are you doing exactly keystroke wise? How do you find losing the ability to use your special with your Force Sword? Do you miss it?
With the purgatus, the extra soul-fire is great for sofetening everything up. For Surge, I usually get the perk where warp charges reduce the cost of warp attacks, then the ult where it doesn't dump charges, so you can really lay out tonnes of CC, since damage isn't important for that build. Also the random head-pop and chance to get warp charges on kills for the whole team so you can stay on the staff full-time and still get bonuses.
he dropped it in description. i don't like the 10% BB proc but that's his character his decision. also he never quels with bare hands so i don't get the point of free mvmt speed. i am on the other hand very glad he plays purgatus and his friend is playing surge. cause these two are the only viable staves for hard content. Void being a solo minded all rounder a little sucky at everything. i would personally go 1-2-1-X-1-3 the three first talents being absolutely rigid for every psyker with a little in game experience.
@@Farsightful yes I saw that but the weapon stats/roles would have been insightful. I'm only just leveling my psyker now, 4th character, so the more info I can get the better.
@@Farsightful For me the BB proc feat is most useful when you don't take 3 in last row of feats since it helps build warp charges up after you dump them with the 1 or 2 in the last row. As for the free movement while quelling, that works for staff too, no? Or maybe staff always has free movement but I don't even know because I always take the feat.
@@braisedtoast9002 basically with a flame thrower you don't really care about the staff dmg. and for efficiency it's way more enjoyable to play with warp resist, charge speed, and quel speed. ( the radius is important as well)
staves have a higher movement speed while quelling. it's slightly impaired ( something like 25%) but it does not make a difference in damnation since you re not exactly "running" all the way to the end. as for the 10% proc it's 15s procs off random targets with regular hits ( no dots). does not generate additional peril. i tested it aand it sucked really badly for me. i barely made it proc once on a proper brainburst in the meat grinder and never got to 3 warp charges using a flamethrower on 12 mobs for 2 minutes. Meanwhile i can have 6% additional damage and 12% peril resistance in a much more reliable fashion. Also the "1 or 2" talent in the last row dump warp charges for a reason. i Find that "Haste" is very interesting for peril cooling purposes especially when going full stagger for a team with an infuriating low reaction time. The other one soulblaze if i recall correctly is just a very badly tuned talent that does too few damages to be actually usefull in order to kill something, BUT it highlights enemy to help out your team see them. i guess it's still something. you can try that talent for yourself with a flame thrower and check where the DOT is maxed out. it is a finger up your ass. just like the whole veteran class.and just like an ogryn in front of you is for a veteran.
I wish I could be as good. I tried the surge staff for stagger, but it's limited in the number of targets. At Heresy, the horde overwhelms this. I feel like I should have re-specialized!
This had been the most helpful comment section! A question I have is I like void swords simply for their special "do a lot of damage" button. The one I have has deflector, too. But I see a lot of psykers using other swords. I know that the rapier is super fast and ez to help doing fast damage but is voidsword still a viable option in t4 or higher? ( I've just got to 30 so I've been mostly farming 3s since I don't have a solid template to play with yet)
i know this is 2 months later but no one answered you so ill say that i play T5 and and the force sword is more than viable, the best set up in my opinion is deflector and bloodthirsty, with bloodthirsty you just use your special attack to kill a weak target and for the next 5 seconds 100% of your attacks are critical hits, hordes/elites/bosses; you'll erase them all with no effort, just light attack away and mow through anything, when you stop hearing the crit sound just charge it back up again. You're vulnerable for just a second while your sword does the killing animation so dont use the heavy attack because it takes a little longer and just keep pulling away until the sword pops them then immediately dodge or push and then start swinging away.
Mmh I have a question, when I do the slide with the dueling sword I slide way longer and thus become slower. Is there something like slide canceling or something so that you can perform another slide faster?
Theres an ingame option to have crouch be on hold to crouch (something like that), that option should be set to hold to crouch to help cancel slides by letting go of crouch button midslide
Sprint, light attack, slide. Pretty forgiving timing, limited to the saber as far as I know. Apparently the knife can with the heavy but it's slower because you have to wind up a heavy.
@@robertchristman8462 many weapons can do it, but distance varies and most aren't more effective than sprinting. The timing is also different between each of them.
chocoB i don't really understand ur choice of weps on psyker, why this sword? i mean the psyker sword is the best what psyker can take - let me explain, 1) u can load attack and eliminate elites with 1 hit, 2) u can use R on ur sword, u can't do that on ur regular one. so i dont really understand using any other wep on psyker, i also loves duelling sword as something simmilar to victor sword from V2 but it was really weak here imho. Thank you for ur movies! I'm writing all of this to discus, maby i'm missing something here and my understanding is wrong

Depending on the staff stats, passive quelling on non warp weapons (like the sword) can almost be as fast as active quelling on the staff.
