You can still play this online on PC using direct IP. They got mods with updated courts and jerseys also. You would be amazed by it.
KG was MVP in 2004, i think this is why he has the 97 rating.
KG is also a 97 on NBA Live 2004 and he didn't win MVP during the 2002-03 season. Garnett's NBA Live ratings in his prime were 96-99.

I loved these early to mid 2000’s NBA Live games. The intros ruled. NBA Live 2004 was my favorite. I loved the intros when they did the “EA Sports..... it’s in the game!” And they had different players from the league talking to the camera. That was so great

The dunk contest has always been better than any 2k design. I hate the dunk contest on 2k. I mastered the nba live slam dunk contest at 13. I’m now 26 and struggle with 2k’s lol, unnecessary controls.

You Broke don’t remember playing dunk contest in 2k9. But since we’re throwing out dunk contests from diff basketball games. Then, I would have to say that NBA Street Vol. 2 has the best dunk contest platform out of them all. I wish they would bring back more basketball video games, we had a plethora of options and games to buy and enjoy back then.

Gotta disagree, bro. When live 98 debuted the three point contest, it was pretty awesome. But it was just a modified existing mechanic. It is still the same today as it was then. Live 05's dunk competition was revolutionary. It was an entire new mechanic designed to give the player control in crafting dunks. There were also hidden gems you could find, (double eastbay, behind the back), when you hit the right combination of setup, gather, and style. The ability to practice in this mode was vital, because you could just sit and create-a-dunk all day. It was a blast. If this mode existed in a modern game, dunk competition multiplayer would be a thing.

NBA Live 2005 has the best Slam Dunk Contest and 3pt shooting contest. You can kick the ball to the big screen in arena, do front flip twice, followed by 1080° with double between the legs, and stuck arm in the rim. and so much more

Game was awesome. Brings back memories. Had my Mavs with a starting lineup of Amare Stoudamire, Dirk, Carmelo, Lebron and Devin Harris. All in their 90s lol. Course way over the cap.
i really liked the dunkcontest in this game. Had the best controls. Even the new 2k19 sucks. All you do is tap a button at the right time, i remeber live05 you had to control everything. I loved this game still one of thr best. The a.i was really on point to for game back then. Even today, that same engine with modern graohics would provide a very good game

I had NBA live 95 on snes...crazy to think now
They didn't start calling it Live til 1995, but it really goes back further than that, Showdown '94, Showdown SNES, Bulls Vs Blazers, Bulls Vs Celtics, Lakers Vs Celtics.....I grew up with all of them. Once Live moved to the Playstation though I never felt that it transitioned well. I actually used to like the NBA Shoot Out games better. And then I moved to the Kobe Bryant series on Nintendo 64. As soon as NBA 2K came out on the Dreamcast though, I have been with 2K since day one. 2005 was the only year I bought Live as well. It was a good change from 2K at the time. But by the time 2K7 came out, Live was totally cooked.
This was one of the best of all time, after Wade hit the cover 2k took over. I was 20 in 2005 by the way 😂✌
