    I had the Tube-03, its like 06 without the DAC. I used it as a preamp to my recently bought fx-audio dac-x7 and xDuoo tube amp, and it boost the bass and treble effectively.

      So how is it? Do you think its better than the older fx audio tube-1?

    Thank you for the insight, I wanted to buy a tube preamp and make a semi hybrid amp for my HD650, but I already have a dac, the Topping E30 from your recommendation. In that case, I will buy the FX-audio Tube-03 instead (without dac).

      I have an 03. It's a great piece of kit. Although if you get one, junk the Chinese valves, they're terrible. I picked up a pair of Mullards for £20 that made a huge difference

    Is there sound quality difference if we use input aux 1 or aux 2?

    judging by sound signature alone does this dac produce warm sound compare to dac x6 or other dacs? thanks

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it doesn't. Bass is soft but highs are prominent and bright. It's good as a very budget pre-amp but if you only need DAC than X6 is better sounding.

    Just wanted to say good review ,I have the fx audio tube pre-amp almost similar looking,it does the same but no USB,but I found the sound warm like u said but it also sounds good with all kinds of music ,I hooked it in between my equalizer before it goes to my amp ,as you know not all kinds of music sounds the same some are set too high w/treble and too high on bass that's why I believe everyone should get an equalizer to Taylor the sound ,with this tube amp it compliments the setup making music pop out and come alive ,JRo

    Can I hook this up to my Pioneer SX-10AE receiver? This receiver is direct drive capable. Or would it have too much output voltage? I really want to clean up the signal coming from my laptop to my receiver. Great review BTW!

    Can I wiring, source > smsl m100 > FX-Audio tube > integrated amp > speaker, please advice or recommend

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For integrated amp you should go just with DAC, if you have an power amp (without volume controls) than you should use FX-Audio Tube 06 (with its integrated DAC directly connected to the source). So it would be best to combine like this:
      1. Source > SMSL M100 > Integrated Amp > Speakers
      or
      2. Source > Tube 06 > Power Amp > Speakers
      If you use Tube 06 with integrated amp you stack 2 preamps together (1 from Tube06 and 1 from Integrated amp) and you loose clarity that way.

    would something like this work with a debut carbon Turntable? i would be connecting it to an old yamaha AVR

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really. Turntables produce a phono output signal that is much lower than line-out we usually feed preamps and integrated amps with. So what you need is a preamp with PHONO stage. But that's not my field of interest so I don't really have a good recommendation, need to ask some Turntable savvy.

  • @luisaref1071
    @luisaref1071 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can I use it with my turntable? Sorry I'm new to this. I just want to be able to change the volume with my headphones

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For use with turntables, what you need is a preamp with phono input... And this preamp doesn't have that unfortunately. I'm not using turntables, so can't really give good advice on that.

    I just saw your Modi Multibit review and bcoz of it, I'm gonna order one today. You just got a new subscriber here.
    I wonder how would the FX Tube preamp (without dac) pair with the Modi Multibit?

    Do the tubes glow naturally or are there LED's under them?

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both. Orange glow from the middle of the tube is natural while the white light from below is LED.

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not a headphone amp, it's preamp. So go for Magni 3 no doubt.

  • @ranbymonkeys2384

    If you replace those cheap China tubes with something like Tung-Sol will make it a lot better.

    • @iiWiReviews
      @iiWiReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't tried tube rolling so can't really comment on that. Personally I wouldn't spend much on replacement tubes... Because internal DAC would probably be a limiting factor in that case.
