It’s funny how so many Ethiopians in the comments loudly declare they’re against ethnic politics. Yet, most of them have supported and justified the ethnic cleansing of more than a mio Tigrayans by Amhara militias in western Tigray, on the basis that “the land belongs to them!” You’re not against ethnic politics-you have proven to be the biggest cheerleaders for it when it suits your narrative and you’re just selective about whose crimes you support. Everyone can see through your bullsh*t!
It seems that you are shifting the topic of discussion from ethnic versus pan-Ethiopia system of government or administration to that of the recent war. It would be productive if you stick to the topic you initiated yourself.
I want to honor your view, but one thing I do not see you highlight enough is the fact that TPLF leaders were not motivated by their concern about the Tigray region, people and future of young people there. Once they lost the election, regional politics became a way to attempt an armed return to power. Ethiopia is beautiful, I love the people, so I will say what I will say next carefully. TPLF was in power for a long time, What did they ever do to improve the quality of life of people in Tigray? The community markets in Mekele and other areas, housing etc... were never touched in a way that demonstrates government commitment to improving the region and the life of people. For TPLF, did caring about Tigray only start after leaving central government? It is all self serving narrative
@ Most Leaders in the TPLF are criminals and need to be in jail in my opinion. I never supported them, they never did anything for Tigrayans anyway. My main message in this video is that ALL Ethiopians need to get over the zero-sum game thinking and respect the constitution and people’s will!
@@TAMENE the main topic and message is the importance of accepting dissonance, respecting people’s constitutional rights and get rid of the extreme binary zero sum game logic of either you are with or against us. I explained this problem in the context of the Tigray war and my experience in South Africa.
@planB-BacktoAfrica Today I watched a discussion that was quite interesting: Ethiopia in focus, with the Minister of Finance and the Press Secretary of the Prime Minister office. The first 10 minutes or so were interesting, informative, talking about the different stages in the political life of the country that leads us to today. I am interested in local economic development and believe the future will be based on local manufacturing of products people need and access to essential services. In my view, building a future that allows every person to live a life of peace and dignity is the only way to ensure stability and unity. Without a doubt, behind all conflicts, there is an economic element, which leads to or contain elements of the zero sum game you are talking about. I agree with you on freedom and legal protection for all. Only state commitment to improving people lives, good governance, delivery, inclusive economic development and social equity will lead to people in all regions wanting unity and cooperation with other regions and countries. I have a feeling this is what you want to see in Africa and other countries May be one day we will talk more about what could make things better. Here is a link to that episode, I haven't finished watching the full discussion. Not sure what your view is on listening to governement officials, but I thought these two are intelligent. th-cam.com/video/VEa5XwPZX3s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jTx7cATK6Cy8RBhw 🙏
No, ethnic federalism does not exist in South Africa. The country’s system of governance is based on a unitary state with decentralized features rather than an ethnic federal structure. Key Features of South Africa’s Political System: 1. Constitutional Democracy South Africa operates as a constitutional democracy with a centralized constitution that guarantees rights and freedoms for all citizens. 2. Unitary State with Decentralization While the country is divided into nine provinces, these provinces do not have ethnic or linguistic bases. Each province has a certain degree of autonomy, but they are ultimately subordinate to the central government. 3. Non-Ethnic Provincial Divisions The provincial boundaries are drawn based on geographical, historical, and administrative considerations rather than ethnic or cultural divisions. 4. Non-Racial Governance Framework The post-apartheid South African Constitution (adopted in 1996) rejects governance based on racial or ethnic divisions. Instead, it emphasizes unity and equality among all citizens, regardless of ethnicity. Comparison with Ethnic Federalism Ethnic federalism, as seen in countries like Ethiopia, involves dividing the country into regions or states primarily along ethnic lines, granting each ethnic group significant autonomy, and sometimes the right to secession. South Africa does not follow this model; its system aims to integrate diverse ethnic and cultural groups under a unified national identity. Historical Context South Africa’s history under apartheid involved systemic racial and ethnic segregation. The current governance structure was specifically designed to avoid institutionalizing ethnic or racial divisions and to promote inclusivity and reconciliation. In conclusion, South Africa’s system of governance is non-ethnic and seeks to unify the country’s diverse population rather than dividing it along ethnic lines.
I must applaud you in educating us on such an important topic. I, however, see nothing wrong with an ethnic based federal system, provided that it's foundational values are rooted in humanity and inclusivity. If, for example, Kwazulu Natal was carved out for amazulu based on historical and geographical tenets, it shouldn't imply that other ethnicities are unwelcome to exploit the opportunities in that region and vice versa. Also, to note, ethnicity is a neo colonial construct. In Africa, one's nationality is supposed to be their tribe. I am a Muganda before I am a Ugandan. I reserve my allegiance to my nation(Buganda), before Uganda(the nation).
This girl is talking rubbish, you can just see the hate and evilness she has is beyond this world. She even mentioned Orania's own useless currency. She knows nothing about South Africa and South Africa's. This girl is a joke.
@@zamanikutta Ethnic based federal system is not advisable to me coz that's what causes divisions and prejudice towards a particular ethnicity, I get it when u talk about humanity and inclusivity but that not always a case. Its good to know where u belong and where u come from but also people move around some might not feel comfortable knowing that this a place is for a particular ethnicity especially in KZN, there are Blacks, Indians, Whites and Coloured people there, they should all feel at home hence the idea of centralized government is crucially important to avoid acts against ethnical divisions.
@philad1439 Thanks for your take. Love, respect, tolerance, etc, are all universal virtues or principles. Before the savagery tormentors came on the mother land, mutual respect existed even thou tribal territory was the status quo. Even in Azania(South Africa). Every one else is a visitor and ought to adhere to the norms and laws of the land. The unfortunate thing was the destruction and deconstruction of our balanced systems that have enabled visitors and land grabbers power and privilege under the guise of constitutionalism. Your forefathers had and were connected to tneir land via territorial measures. It was never perfect but, not barbaric and savagery to the extreems of what we've come to learn of the pink skinned ones.
In Ethiopia they divided the country in tribal and language arbitrary boundaries, while the country was already mixed up. Those who do not speak the tribal language suddenly become minorities in their own country with no rights in their local regions. A really sick system, worse than what colonizers did to keep Africa weak. Now, posters like that of this video are heard supporting this crap.
TPLF basically re-introduced the colonial divide and conquer system to Ethiopia. Put laws into place, changed school curriculums, re-zoned the entire country, so that the nation will fall into shambles without their “leadership”. Many warned against it but the villains of TPLF who deliberately laid out this system as a foundation for the current generation. Now we’re reaping what was sowed - corruption, ethnicism, tribalism, hate, distrust, entitlement … you name it. Unless we all wake up and acknowledge it, Ethiopia as we once knew it will be no more. 😔
As someone of Caribbean identity I have always held Ethiopia and it's people in very high regard. It saddens me greatly to see the internal conflict that threatens to destabilise this beautiful ancient land. I hope the path of peace and unity is chosen over division and conflict.

The lasting legacy of Weyane the gang who dominated Ethiopia for 27 years left the country with no sea access it used to have. Talk about home grown enemy. The poster of this video supports them and want us Ethiopians to forget what they have done. It infuriates me to my core
She sounds totally ignorant, and she doesn't even understand what racist apartheid was all about, just to come in and say it's okay for them to have a white only town after damn there putting all black people into a corner and making the whole country white only, she doesn't understand a restartup of the racist South Africa which they're trying to do, she's been around white people too much
South African doesn't use the Federal system.. But the constitution guarantees the preservation of all citizen's language culture and respects traditional leaders from Kings of tribes to chiefs.. that helps to make us all feel equal and be proud of our cultures and embrace our diversity.. We even have an official holiday named *Heritage day *
She stated and explained why we shouldn't use the word "tribe". The word is used demean us Africans We are nations reduced to societies. That's why you have a Lesotho and eSwatini.
I am one black South African who is not a fan of this Constitution but I am glad it is there instead of complete chaos and anarchy.. Thanks for the perspective, for lack of a better word..
I have traveled wide and I appreciate the diversity of people. I particularly loved your clarity of thought and ability to speak out your mind. Keep up, one step at a time we will get there in Africa.

Weyni, This is the second or third episode of yours that I’ve watched, and I want to start by acknowledging the challenges and fears you faced when you left Ethiopia. I’m truly sorry for the difficulties you endured, especially those rooted in ethnic discrimination. When I began watching this video, I expected a deeper understanding of federalism-its purposes and how it functions. However, as I listened, it became clear that your perspective is influenced by a biased sympathy toward the TPLF. The TPLF was, in my view, a group of self-serving individuals connected through familial and marital ties, supported by a few Ethiopians who benefited from the ethnic-based apartheid system they upheld. I regret that your perspective either stems from a lack of awareness of what truly occurred in Ethiopia or perhaps from personal benefits tied to the TPLF’s political and ethnic legacy. While the current system in Ethiopia is indeed problematic, it’s critical to recognize that it was the ethnic federalism introduced by the TPLF that sowed the seeds of division, turning communities against each other and creating a climate of mistrust. The TPLF’s actions, which prioritized their own interests, did little to improve the lives of the average Tigrayan, let alone Ethiopians as a whole. Having lived in the U.S. for over 35 years, I’ve seen firsthand how a unified national identity can foster progress and coexistence, despite underlying divisions and imperfections. Imagine if the U.S. president were to divide the nation into states based on ethnicity-declaring some states as “German,” “Irish,” “African-American,” or “Chinese.” Such an approach would lead to inevitable conflict and the disintegration of the United States as a unified country. The U.S., despite its flaws, strives to bring diverse groups together under the idea of “one nation,” imperfect but continuously working toward a more perfect union. I believe Ethiopia, too, can move toward a system that embraces diversity while fostering unity, love, and mutual respect among its people. I urge you to continue sharing your personal experiences, but I also encourage you to seek a balanced and unbiased understanding of Ethiopia’s challenges. It’s important to critically assess the actions of groups like the TPLF and their role in shaping the issues Ethiopia faces today.
Ironically, ethnic discrimination became a HUGE problem when her political party, TPLF, came to power in 1991and implemented divisive ethnic based political system, a system no other African country wants to touch with a ten foot pole. . Her party, that draws its support from ethnic minority Tigrayans ( they make up just 6% of the population), used ethnic division as a means to stay in power. When it lost power in 2018 after 27 years, it ignited a civil war to separate Tigray region from the rest of Ethiopia. It lost the war, but plunged the country to deeper chaos.
You guys, with these above perspectives and beliefs, you supported the carnage killing of 1 million Tegaru and 100000 Tegaru women rape, 1.2 million Tegaru cleansing from Wolkait, in 2020 Tigrai's war and yet you are not satisfied so you are blaming TPLF. You invited Eriterean savage government, and 25 Eritereans soldiers raped one woman, and they were not satisfied they put plastic and nail into her vagina. (SEE THE DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS REPORT)
So, are you implying that ethno based identity and organisation is inherently bad? What's wrong with, for example, the Oromo - in Ethiopia, self determining based on their historical and geographical background. As long as the very same values that you mention - America has espoused, can be propagated in those autonomous regions, all I see is peace and tranquility prevailing.
@@zamanikutta Yes Ethnic federalism is not only bad, it is backward and distractive especially with globalization and the technological transformation the world is going. To be competitive and survive with the new world economic arrangement, no ethnic based group will make it. Besides, if Ethiopia is fragmented within ethnic lines, no one ethnic federal Kilil will benefit or survive. I say it is backward because most people in Ethiopia are mixed and don’t have one ethnic identity except being one habesha as a group of people.
Weyni. 🌸 With all respect for your overall opinion, you presented the TPLF as peaceful, angelic organization, while the government as revengeful and bloodthirsty. The South African in Orania did not mounted to topple the government by occupying military camps and killing hundreds of military while they were sleep and marching toward Addis to topple the government. I truly respect your position regarding the Federal System for Ethiopia, however you used your platform to sympathize with TPLF under the shield of Tigray people! Half truth is a lie! Respectfully I disagree with your conclusion! 🌹 ❤
Thanks for sharing your perspective in a respectful way. We don’t have to always agree and I disagree with the claim that TPLF wanted to topple the government. I didn’t state them as peaceful and angelic. I clearly said that they have committed many human rights abuses, discriminated other groups, and installed satellite parties to centralize power. I don’t sympathize with them at all. In fact I partially blame them for the violence that was unleashed not just on Tigrayans but on other groups as well. My main message was that the “either you are with or against us logic” which you find in every corner of Ethiopia is self destructive. And that the federal system is not the core issue. We were not born as cats and dogs. I will explain what I believe to be the main issue in ethiopia in more detail in my next episode 🙏🏾
Dear Back to Africa 🌹 In your next episode, try your best to be from another planet, Venus 🌎 to get clear overall views and neutrality. By using English to convey your victimized opinion you are mainly appealing to foreign audiences, do you rationally believe “million people died in Tigray war, about 40,000 per month for 2 years? I hope your next episode focuses on solutions and roadmap for future peaceful coexistence. 🙏
@@user-gd3rq6zh5m Your ‘Venus’ comment was a bold attempt at humor, but sadly, it crash-landed somewhere between Mars and reality 😉 The death toll in Tigray, estimated at up to 600,000 by credible sources like the World Peace Foundation, isn’t a ‘victimized opinion’-it’s a shocking fact. Deflecting with jokes doesn’t change the truth. Let’s focus on facts and solutions instead of trying (and failing) to be funny. 🙏🏾
What breaks my heart about Ethiopia is the fact that it's the only country in the whole continent that wasn't colonized, and for some reason it seems it cannot get past its internal conflicts, Most of us hold Ethiopia in high regard. Hopefully, they'll conquer their differences one day 🙏🏾
What can you do when the people who have controlled and governed have done nothing except dividing the people and brainwashing while they instill ethnic differences more and ethnic federalism
Ethiopia's problem started when the Ethiopian emperor, Haile Selassie I, in his effort to accelerate modernizing his country sent students to western countries for education. Western governments used those student to organize a student movement that helped overthrow the monarchy. The west wanted to dismantle Ethiopia if possible, or weaken it if not, for the benefit of Egypt that desires total control over the Nile river whose biggest source is Ethiopia (86% of the Nile river comes from Ethiopia). They believed the monarchy's and by extension Ethiopia's strongest anchors were ethnic Amharas and the orthodox church. For the last 50 years the west and Egypt have used various internal and external actors (Sudanese, Separatist Eritreans, Tigrayans, Oromos and Somalis) to weaken Ethiopia. At one point in the 1970s, President Jimmy Carter's adviser, Paul Henze (TPLF's godfather), proposed to breakup Ethiopia into 5 countries. His plan was curtailed due to the intervention of the Soviet Union and Cuba. Currently Ethiopia is at its weakest point in its long 3000 history. >>>>>>>> Note how this ethnic Tigrayan lady vilifies Amharas. Mind you, ethnic Amharas have not been in a position of any power since the overthrow of the Emperor in 1974. Ethnic nationalists like this woman hate Amharas because they advocate for a unified Ethiopia. They are nationalist Ethiopians. They don't subscribe to tribal politics. And they have been proven right. No country in Africa has implemented ethnic politics as a constitution because it is a POISON. Uganda's president, Yoweri Museveni, openly denounced the political system in Ethiopia citing it as the source of Ethiopia's woes. Ethiopia has not had peace for the last 50 years. And since 1991, when ethnic politics was introduced to Ethiopia under TPLF, which this lady is a member of (Tigray People's Liberation Front), the country's problem has gone from bad to worse. BTW ethnic Tigrayans make up just 6% of the country's population, but their elite ruled Ethiopia for 27 years... and ruined it. Interestingly, once they lost power in 2018, they wanted to secede the region from Ethiopia. They failed, but they plunged the country into further chaos. The current rulers are ethnic nationalist Oromos. They are like ethnic nationalist Tigrayans ON STEROID. Hence the rapid deterioration of the situation in the country.
It wasn't colonized because they decided to collaborate with YT people and betray their brothers and sisters who were Muslims as they, themselves like YT people, were Christians.
@RamNezamo why don't you mention the majesty were celebrating his 82 years birthday while peoples were dying with hunger, why don't you mention the rases and the peoples around the majesty were getting land all around Ethiopia and the peoples who was born there was working on the land for the landlord for 1/3 of they growth, this is the most common reason that peoples got fed up with and overthrowed the king do not get me wrong it did not get better now ,but please do not write that the time when king Hailesilase was on power there were not peasants on his home land
You can't deny the current chaos and conflicts here and there in the country. Not only armed involvement but also racial tension is rampant in the country. The federal system is not the problem but how it was organised; ethnic based structuring is the root problem.
Geographical or provincial reorganization of the federal system will definitely solve the ethnic tensions which never existed prior to ፲፱፻፹፫ / 1991 ,when citizenship took precedence over ethnicity.

Based on the comments and feedback on your perspective, I hope that if you are honest and unbiased, you’ll acknowledge the reality of the TPLF as a criminal group that dismantled the fabric of Ethiopian unity. With this in mind, I hope you’ll revisit your understanding of Ethiopia’s complex history and current challenges. As many comments have pointed out, your claim that Ethiopia was ruled by Amharas to elevate one ethnic group and impose Amharic as the only national language is not accurate. Having one national language is a common strategy used by many countries to foster nation-building and unity. For your information, it was King Yohannes IV, a Tigrayan leader and a true Ethiopian patriot, who endorsed Amharic as the national language-not out of ethnic favoritism, but as a unifying tool for Ethiopia. Unlike the TPLF, Yohannes embodied Ethiopian identity rather than ethnic division. Throughout Ethiopia’s history, there have never been Amhara or Tigrayan kings-only Ethiopian or Abyssinian emperors who represented the broader nation, the north, the central and the current state of Eritrea. The narrative of ethnic favoritism in leadership overlooks the larger historical truth of a unified Ethiopian identity that transcended individual ethnic groups. I urge you to move past the resentment toward any single ethnic group, particularly the Amharas, who have always identified as Ethiopians first. Personally, I come from a mixed ethnic background, and until the divisive ethnic apartheid system introduced by the TPLF in 1991, I never had to think about which ethnic group I “belonged” to. I encourage you to create another video to reflect on the feedback you’ve received, address the inaccuracies in your assessment, and critically evaluate the harm caused by the corrupt and self-serving policies of the TPLF. Recognizing this will not only deepen your understanding but also contribute to a more constructive conversation about Ethiopia’s future.
Well said! I recently came across this lady's content and initially liked it. However, I was disappointed to see her using her platform to spread hate. It's one thing to appreciate and celebrate your ethnic identity, but it's entirely different to hate others for wanting the same. She is entitled to her opinion, and I wouldn't fault her for that. However, I was disappointed to hear her making up her own facts and attempting to support them by comparing apples to oranges. Like you said, I hope she does more research before making such bold claims.
Is it not ironic that you use English (which is not your native language) to communicate with your world-wide audience but disparage Amharic, spoken by a good % of every region of Ethiopia, as "subjugation!?" Btw, if various groups were "subjugated" and forced to assimmulate a) how come there are still over 80 distinct ethnic groups with their language and culture still intact? b) Do you think the "subjugating" ethnic group has longer life expectancy? Wealth? Health? Education than the rest of the country? In case you are not aware, there is famine in a certain section of your "subjugator" ethnic group as we speak! I have lived through four governments. The time bomb TPLF burried, in the form of ethnic federalism, is THE poison that is now killing the country. May I point out to you that Ethiopia is the ONLY country on planet Earth that has a "federal system" based on language and ethnicity? Please study history on how many Europian and Asian countries were built (instead of cherry picking the one that failed (Yugoslavia)). Are you a historian or a traveling blogger? You are certainly far from being an expert on Ethiopian history and nationhood. So, please stop trying to rewrite history as you try to be an apologist for TPLF!
Eritrea used to be under Ethiopia and it was subjugation. They banned tigrinya and pushed amharic on the people, which is very colonial style. That’s just one of the reasons Eritrea wasnt interested in that mess. I don’t know how amharas can’t See the issue. A common language is good. Acting like white men isnt.
@fruitsarelife7073 Promoting Amharic is not "being a white man." All Ethiopian dynasties promoted the language, religion, and cultural tradition of the ruling class/ethnicity. Before the Amhara, the Axumites promoted their own language, Geez. Remember, Axum started as an independent Geez speaking city state, like the Greek city states. When Axum began to project its power across its neighboring states and territories, it began imposing its Geez language on the conquered people. That was why you now speak Tigrigna, which is basically a dialect of Geez. If it weren't for the Axumite Empire, you would still be speaking your extinct native Eritrean language instead of Tigrigna.
As far as I understand, she doesn't claim expertise on the subject.. It'd be nice for those like you to contribute to the discussion for the purpose of a more balanced take on the issues..
Thank you for introducing me to the issues of ethnicity in Ethiopia. I am of Canadian Caribbean background and observe Ethopians within our communities from the distance. I have had very few personal interactions with your proud people. But those interactions were positive. As Africans, we have much to learn from each other. Again, thank you for your insights.
South Africa is not using a federal government system but a decentralized government system. Before the establishment of a new government in 1994, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) pushed for a federal government, whereas the African National Congress (ANC) pushed for a unitary government system. As a compromise by both the IFP and the ANC, settled for the decentralized government system, with nine provinces who didn't have federal powers, like in the USA system. It was at the same time when the Orania people negotiated their settlement in Orania.
Essence matters over form. Ethiopia is claimed to be federation, but all regions and their leaders are controlled and nominated by one chauvenist party which has strong roots in one region, Oromia. So, I would say South Africa has more of federal features than Ethiopia which is nowhere near.

I think you’re missing the point, people are not against federal system in Ethiopia. They’re against a federal system that is divided along the ethnic lines which makes other Ethiopians in that specific group second citizens in their own country. That’s a huge difference from what you’re saying, you don’t have to be divided along ethnic lines to address the issues of any groups of people. It’s doable without all this chaos that’s happening right now. We’re witnessing horrific killings and displacements all over the country, no parts of Ethiopia are stable right now except the capital Addis Ababa. And stop comparing it to other countries, there’s no one country in the world that has this kind of backward system.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. However, I believe your conclusion is misleading. The conflict primarily stems from political disagreements between the ruling party and the TPLF, which began with the TPLF attacking the Northern Command. It should not be conflated with the people of Tigray. The situation is more complex, involving political factions rather than an ethnic or regional conflict. It is unfortunate that the people of Tigray, Afar, and Amhara have been caught in the middle of this struggle. After all, the TPLF is not the same as the people of Tigray and has been the dominant party in the region for the past 50 years. I hope this feedback helps balance your conclusion.
We black South Africans were made to kill each other by the apartheid military and secret agents at the end of the apartheid rule.. Just as we had our difficulties in the past like the historical "difacane" conflicts of the 1800's.., one thing we can't understand is the ethnic killings that are taking place north of us today.. As an older South African, I still don't get it why Africans are killing each on a mass scale long after the colonists have left..

The war in Tigray did not start because of TPLF disassociation from the central government. The war started because TPLF attacked the national defense forces who had been protecting Tigray people from Eritrean aggression against Tigray. Please tell the truth because the truth set you free.
@planB-BacktoAfrica You are wrong. I know woyanes more than you do. What TPLF did to the national defense forces is exactly what they did to TLF leaders during the armed struggle in the 1970s. Ask your parents.

During the TPLF regime federalism was only in the official name of the country: Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Ethiopia was neither federal nor democratic but rather a unitary government dominated and manipulated by TPLF. TPLF generals were the main decision makers behind the scenes on every issue including the land of indigenous people in other parts of the country. TPLF exploited the country under the pretext of federalism. Some people call it Apartheid because a minority was ruling the country with iron fist. You are too biased towards TPLF. Nobody refused pluralistic Ethiopia. TPLF divided the country into 3 parts: 1. Tigray first class 2. Amhara, Oromo and south second class 3. Partners (Somali, Gambela, Benshangul, Harari and Afar) which cannot even have any kind vote on the issues that affects them. They were just supposed accept whatever TPLF wishes for them. The other important point is that it is TPLF that started the war refusing to surrender power. They slaughtered Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) members while they were in their pajamas You tried to make TPLF an angel, but they were arrogant killers, authoritarian and corrupt. Probably you were one of the beneficiaries of their regime I suppose because you did not understand what other people were going through. While the people of Tigray were under sever poverty TPLF beneficiaries were living lavish life both in the country and abroad. They accumulated billions of dollars in foreign banks in the name EEFORT. Sorry for you distorted outlook about the rest of the country. The current government is not following divide and rule policy like TPLF did. We are exercising real federalism now. Federalism doesn't mean creating a hostile environment among brothers and sisters of the same country. We all like federal and democratic Ethiopia or pluralistic Ethiopia. Don't underestimate the intelligence of Ethiopians. Thank you!!
Thank you. You highlight many essential factors in Ethiopia. The good, the bad, and the ugly. All of us as human race intend to focus on the bad and ugly. But when the hearts are good, I believe it will end good by THE GRACE OF GOD.🙏🏿 Ethiopian people will live with a lasting peace among each other. AMEAN AMEAN AMEAN 💚💛❤️
The toxicity of some of the comments from Ethiopians/Eritreans demonstrats nicely of your point. Thank you for your input. I admire and respect you. Keep it up.
@@Sarahj962 TPLF cheerleaders 🙄🙄 There is a proverb in Amharic እራሱ ገርፎ እራሱ አለቀሰ Complaining about problems created by themselves when it's no longer serving them. Always fingerpointing on others without taking responsibility.
@planB-BacktoAfrica Cheerleaders never cared how society is being affected 😔 We knew this was where we would end up 30 years ago. What did you expect from a TOXIC የገማ የዘር ቆጠራ
It’s fine taking side for Tplf under innocent Tegarus cover but it’s a shame that you are so blinded and blaming all this on the federal government, everyone knows how and why the war started even Tplf confessed about it but you are here telling us they where trying to leave as they want (to keep their TPLF party) and they where denied lol you are so wrong they where asked to join PP and they said no but it was fine if they stayed as it was, instead they started building an army that was even stronger than the national army by the time and the federal government started bagging them even send very influential peoples, mothers elderly people etc multiple times but they pushed them all back and finally they started the war by attacking the northern command. You should be ashamed for saying the federal government said every Tigrayans should be eliminated 😏what a shame. Anyways it’s too late for this kinda narrative now sis you could do better. also one last thing I know Orania and it can’t be an example for this narrative of yours I’m sorry to tell you that 😂unless you are saying TPLF leaders should go to Dedebit Desert and establish their own orania 😉 Tigray and Tegarus are bigger than this rubbish idea of yours.
Ethiopia is an enigma to me. This is one of the oldest empires in the world that has failed to unify the peoples constituting this empire for 4000 years. If Ethiopia has failed where China, Russia, Iran, France have triumphed, it is because of an implicit apartheid that existed in Ethiopia even before the invention of the word in South Africa. The author of this video can practice the ostrich policy in the face of a cruel reality. But the facts are stubborn. As long as Africans do not establish african languages as a language of culture and civilization, Africa will remain divided AND alienated with catastrophic consequences on the psychological, economic and political levels*. *In the conflict between Ethiopia and Somalia over Ethiopia's access to the sea, these two countries found Turkey, this imperialist and slave-owning state, as mediator. This is a clear failure of the African Union...run by alienated elites who want to preserve their cultural identity against other Africans, but who are completely submissive to those outside Africa.
God bless you, my sister, I'm your new subscriber and I'm a Black South African. I read so much about Amharic history and the Beta Israelis as well. I've met Ethiopians who work and own business which they were friendly towards me. You're a true traveler. Take care.
One more time, is there a time in history Amhara government? Is there any time in Ethiopia history Amhara government imposed its language, culture on other ethnic groups in Ethiopia? The previous governments before Derg were all Ethiopians and most of them has mixed identity from Amhara, Oromo.Tigray and others. They lived as proud Ethiopian and passed over the unified and proud country to the newer generations. Just look where you are living right now. You are out from your country and begging others Africa countries to give you shelter and food. You don’t admit it but this is due to the ethnic federalism conflict that is ripping the country apart cause you to run away from Ethiopia. By the way what is the curses on Ethiopian intellectual? The more they think they are educated, the more they become ignorant and illiterate. I thought you said you are expert on Anthropologies. Have you witnessed any ethnic language and culture destroyed due to the previous “ Amhara “ government. Absolutely not. All ethnic groups were enriching their languages and cultures for centuries and you can see now how beautiful they are . They are not created in 1983 EC when TPLF took power. They were there before they will be growing and enriching their culture at the end of the world. Using false narratives just to control power and amass wealth is cheap technic and it will cost. Look why happens to TPLF. Please come out from this false narrative and do a positive contribution to your fellow countrymen. Sad to hear from one intelligent and beautiful woman advocating for ethnic system. Please leave alone other Africans to live in peace. Don’t spread this devilish way of Ethnic federalism to others. It is a path of destruction!
The problem in Ethiopia is most of ethnic groups want and sacrifice to rule the country and control the natural resources and wealth if they are not in power, they start fighting with the gov. That is what is happening in Ethiopia right now
Your strong positive attitude to be a solution in a national complex situation and articulation of these issues is amazing. All of Ethiopia must be so proud of you. I'm also proud of the lessons of reconciliation, tolerance, inclusivity (unity in diversity) and a growing democracy you learned from my dear country, South Africa 🇿🇦. Don't give up the good fight, mobilize like minded people to unify that beautiful uncolonised country. We love and appreciate you. We also pray for the Lord God almighty to bless the noble endeavors of people like you in Ethiopia. 🇧🇴
“Genocidal war against the Tigray people” is crazy talk when the TPLF actually initiated the war. They opened war on Ethiopia. There absolutely would have never been a war on Tigray had it not been for the TPLF attack.
In fact after Mandela was elected president in 1994 in South Africa , he refused to visit Ethiopia which was then led by an Ethnocentric government of the TPLF / EPRDF.
We don't have a federal government system in South Africa. We have a co-operative government system where national government, provincial government and local government play very distinct roles in the governance system.
I think that federal system in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 is very similar to that of Somalia 🇸🇴 where each of the federal state has a ethnic based semi autonomous structure with it’s own ‘president’ and it’s own ethnic security forces which in itself a catalyst for disaster. Nigeria 🇳🇬 on the other hand just like the United States though has a federal system of government, the central government retains powers of the treasury and the military. This system of federalism works in the US, India, Pakistan and in Nigeria because it discourages ethnic sectarianism plus the system also tends to work in developed democracies which is not the case for both Ethiopia and Somalia. In countries where democracy has not taken root, ethnic loyalties tend to be the main interest for the citizens of the federal states as opposed to the citizenry remaining loyal to their country as a whole which breeds the unity of a country. How on earth did Tigray region come to own their own military tanks ? That shouldn’t have been allowed to happen because if all other federal states in Ethiopia were to be allowed to have their own military , that would be courting disaster. In my humble opinion, for a federal state to have its own militia or army, there is always a very high chance that no one will know peace in such a country.
I would like to say a few points: 1. Nigeria is a federal state but the federation is not based on ethnicity. Switzerland, Germany, USA, etc are federal states, but are not language based or ethnic based. 2. I don't know about your upbringing but you seem to have been told wrong information about your own country, Ethiopia. 3. So many of the things you said about Ethiopia are wrong, simplistic, biased, and some times false 4. You are sending a wrong information about Ethiopia to the outside world. 5. If you lie about us, how can we trust you about the authenticity of the information you are telling us about others (other countries)? My advice to you:: Clean your brain from the bias you were told (grew up with), be rational and educate yourself well about your own country. I am your channel's follower from Addis Abeba.
Federal system😂😂. TPLF declared that Ethnic Apartheid and Article 39 to be the laws of the land. Everything and anything in Ethiopia became to be seen through an ethnic prism. The divide and rule policy of the colonialists were applied to divide and rule Ethiopians. The ultimate objective of TPLF’s divide-and-conquer strategy was to gain and maintain power by breaking up ethnic groups into smaller and less powerful groups, which often fought amongst themselves. Using this strategy, TPLF was able to maintain ultimate political, economic, and military power for 27 years in Ethiopia. Racial ideology and superiority were the main reasons that could have contributed to TPLF’s attitudes toward Ethiopian ethnic groups, especially toward the Amhara people. TPLF has successfully created a fictional reality or illusion of Ethiopians by blaming the Amhara ethnic group as an enemy of the other groups.
"Did I just hear you say that ethnic federalism did not create conflicts? Seriously? What about Wolkayit and Raya? What about the countless people who have been evicted and killed in regions like Wolega and Benishangul because they are considered settlers in other ethnic groups' regions or lands? What about Addis Ababa never being run by a mayor elected from the city, but instead being appointed from the Oromia region for the past 30 years? What are you talking about? Nobody opposes people's right to administer themselves, develop their culture, and speak their language. However, when such rights are taken to the extreme-where people are treated as second-class citizens, or worse, evicted and killed because they don't belong to the ethnic group that is the majority in a certain region-you have to wonder if this is the only federal arrangement possible. There is a strawman argument that arises every time a discussion about unity is brought up. Anytime the idea is mentioned, it gets automatically associated with the imperial past and dismissed. There's an aversion even to the term 'unity' and a total disregard for the problems caused by the ethnization of Ethiopia. Unity doesn't mean regressing to a time when ethnic groups lacked rights. No sane person who supports unity thinks that way. Rather, it’s about having a shared identity within our diversity. After all, what are we doing as Ethiopians in Ethiopia if we’re not being Ethiopians? We might as well go our separate ways if there’s nothing to unite us. You can belong to any ethnic group and be Ethiopian at the same time. But if you don’t feel like you have a shared identity or don’t see the need to foster one, then, honestly, you have no business being in the same country."
Let me break it down for you- am a 3rd generation Addis Abebawi decendent of both Amhara & Tigray. My grandparents were FREE to move around, marry anyone based on Love!! Not today!!! And me from mixed parents who never claimed either but Addis Ethiopia wi.....I DON'T BELING TO ONE TRIBE OR Killel....I have no rights or voice on anything, because I DON'T BELONG TO A BOX created by the Apartheid system!!!!!

Thank you again for another insightful informative, videos!! I just L❤VE your transparency, and talking points. Keep these videos coming, as an educator, I've been a teacher in public education for 30 years. I just L❤VE learning about Africa from your vast experience ❤️....
I never herd an Ethiopian speaking English in a German accsent before. Wayne “ich mahe das”😅 Honey ,Ethiopians have their own language, you better use Amharic if you want your message to get to your people.
I am so impressed - it seems as if the lights went on for you! Your previous video on culture shocks experienced in South Africa filled me with anger - you critisising the people of Orania yet admitting to the serious issues experienced in your home country! Thank you - I feel so much better now! Ethiopia always fascinated me and I do hope to visit one day since my grandfather told me so much about it. Incidentally, he was an engineer and one of the 27 000 South Africans fighting to liberate Ethiopia from fascist Italy during WW2. Did you know that the South African government was instrumental in the abolishing of slavery by Haile Selassie?
As a historian and scholar who studied Ethiopian history for years thank you for your analysis. It for the most part accurately depicts the current state of Ethiopia. I will say this and you did touch on this a bit about once the TPLF got into power they kind of lost that ultimate vision that was created and committed human rights violations along with the coalition. This paired with Abi Ahmed's extreme binary visions of "if you are not with us you are against us" mentality created a perfect storm for more anger , hatred, and contempt for normal regular everyday people in the Tigray region. That war should have never happened and its disappointing to see consecutive heads of states make promises to the people of Ethiopia only to disappoint them.
You are right. It’s important to be truthful and acknowledge the crimes that were committed by all political entities in the past and in the present. And it is even more important to not blame the people for the actions of their political leaders. Thanks for sharing your thoughts professor🙏🏾
Excellent video my sista. As an FBA/AA who has had Eritrean and Ethiopian friends and girlfriends, this was quite informative. I've known for sometime about the ethnic & cultural diversity og Ethiopians, but this has ignited more curiousity about the very intricate history and political hisyory of Ethiopia. This was equally informative concerning South Africa, Nigeria and the model of Federalist governments
@spacesandplacesoutthere well almost the whole video is propaganda. Her whole video is based on ethnic and emotional conclusion and not logical at all. She doesn't even know what she was talking about. She said that the Ethiopian government is trying to change change the country from federalist to central governance, she ridiculed it by saying that it's trying to destroy other people's culture and bring forceful assimilation. Then continued to praise South africa calling it a federalist country that preserved its tribes' culture. A simple Google search could have told her that South africa follows a unitary aka central governance system, so to make it clear, she unknowingly praised a governance system she was trying to ridicule. She also tried to paint TPLF (a genocidal and pathetic regime which only benefited her ethnicity) as the good guys.
Thanks for sharing your opinion one such a difficult topic. You have shed light on a concept that seems so obviously wrong on the surface but harbors a very important component of freedom. I enjoyed it immensely
Ethnic based federalism is the most harmful and divisive system imaginable. It was designed to eventually disintegrate Ethiopia. You can respect diverse cultures and ethnicities without encouraging separation. No successful nation would set itself up like that. Not to mention the fact that Ethiopia has over 80 ethnic groups. How is it even feasible. Only the top 5/6 get their federal region? Where’s the fairness in that? The alternative of everyone getting their own region is also an unworkable mess. We must just scrap the whole mess of a system.
My lady, please do not mislead people. South Africa has no federal system. It is a unitary state. We have provinces for the purpose of administration. Although their introduction was a compromise for minorities who feared majorly rule. And for your information, we will never accept or opt for federalism in South Africa. Federalism will only promote tribalism. Orania is not a state. It is a little dusty town in the middle of nowhere. However, our constitution allows for the freedom of association and expression. That is the loophole that enabled an Orania. Orania is a ricist enclave by a white racist minority who cannot reconcile with a multicultural society. But, they are no threat to the South African state in any form whatsoever. The new South Africa does not want to create its new victims. Live and let live.
At the beginning, I disagree with all due respect a country with multiple languages is OK to use their own regional languages but at some point, we all got to communicate, right? So if we are not learning the national language, our own national language, we’re forced to rely on Western English or French for communication, which contradicts the very purpose of promoting our own languages. What is your suggestion? How can we communicate each other if we all speak different languages and refuse to learn Amharic? Or do I need to learn 80 languages?
@ the whole idea doesn’t make sense learning languages as any other normal country. There should be one National language!! Example Tigray schools should teach Tigregna and what ever the National language !! So Tigray people if they choose to live any part of Ethiopia 🇪🇹 they should be able to get a job and communicate with others, fellow Ethiopians. I am not saying Amharic should be the national language we can come up and pick one language all of us it could be Tigragna, Oromo, Gambela any language for national language!!
You have a vested interest in tarnishing the image of Ethiopia. As a member of the former Tigre government, you lost a lot of benefits with their removal from power. Therefore, your opinion is biased and vindictive. Ethiopia has moved on. Your bruhuahua from Kenya won't change our fate. Tplf is defeated. So are you😏
This was an excellent historical opinion of what's been happening in the Countries violence. While developing a Better understanding through what South Africa's Change from the harsh rules to Equality throughout the Land.
Wow your analysis As a South African I always find it ironic that as a so called violent country we somehow dont have civil wars creeping up every second there is a disagreement…our elections are peaceful and we are free to even dress in our party colours etc with no incidents of violence from opposing parties…thank you for this video and your perspective..quite refreshing
I believed you were a person of integrity, honesty, and a strong pan-African mindset. However, in this post, you mislead other African sisters and brothers outside of Ethiopia. It seems you have a tribal mindset and a pro-secession stance. I regret following you, as you are spreading harmful ideas. Your understanding of Ethiopia appears superficial, or you may be deliberately sharing misinformation.
It's a delusional analysis from a tribalist Tigrayan woman. Currently Ethiopia is tearing itself apart due to an alien constitution imposed on its people in 1995 by TPLF and its western backers that created 14 or so Bantustan regions. No other African country has implemented an ethnic based constitution. Rightly so. In fact the Ugandan President, Museveni, strongly denounced the current political system in Ethiopia, faulting it for the civil war that is raging in the country right now.
Even in Tigray where she came from, currently a fault line has been drawn along district line. Tigrayan elite that divided Ethiopia along ethnic line now find themselves divided along district line. The northern districts of Aksum, Shire, Adwa (ASHA) on one side, Temben, Enderta and Raya on the other. While Agame district gives moral support to the latter. That is what happens when you promote division. You will end up divided yourselves.
It is poor study. There was not ethnic war in Ethiopia before 1991 but it started to happen after we implement federal system. You do not have detail information a bout Ethiopia
The way Ethiopian Federalism was being compared with Apartheid was not as you are saying. It was practically marginalizing all Ethiopians except for Tigriyans. The point of conflict was that Tigriyans considered themselves superior to all Ethnic groups in Ethiopia.
You became as bad as TPLF. I can feel your hate towards the Amhara population who is victimized by the situation orchestrated by these group. Ethiopians are at their worst time than ever before. Ethiopia is bleeding for the past more than 35 years: which is the direct consequence of TPLF's existence and hatred to the people of Ethiopia. They are hiding within the tigray people. They are good for no one, including the tigray population (think the Hawzen politics, the sale of foreign aid while ppl were starved to death ). Just try to think out of your race, just like 'human'. Don't try to look correct, live the truth.
Very valuable insights. Thanks. This is coming from someone who is not from Ethiopia but recognizes the problem. "You're either with me or against me". We have yet lot to learn.
I really enjoyed this episode, iam not an Ethiopian by the way iam Somali, but i hope some high level officials in the Ethiopian government are watching your videos on these issues and take a leaf from this, you are not only an Ethiopian asset but an African asset and people should pay attention to you. You are a beauty with brains. Wish you more exposure and progress. Be blessed my dear sister. ❤️
I think as South Africans we never appreciated the Truth and Reconciliation commission enough, while it was not perfect it kind of allowed us a reset. While we still plagued by many issues it cemented a framework for us as a society. It truly discouraged me when I visited Ethiopia how bad the different groups spoke of each other. I am hoping to visit again in 2025.
Appreciate your bold introduction and assertiveness in what you believe is true. The case of Ethiopia or you can call it EUTOPIA is multidimensional and unique. And can’t be compared to South Africa as many folks agree. Botttom line is for all to learn the Hist
It is wonderful to hear from you all the time dear sister.. I agree, the issues you bring up here are complex and seemingly an endless work-in-progress in Ethiopia and other places like here South Africa.. As an older black South African, it'd be nice to discuss this in a person to person deeper discussion.. Still, I appreciate the depth with which you handle your topics.. Wish you blessings and health.. We need you especially, since your perspective is from the continent itself, instead of being a long shot approach we are used to by foreigners..
Lets be clear on this matter; South Africa’s unitary system fosters unity through provincial divisions and reconciliation, while Ethiopia’s ethnic-based federalism, granting self-determination and secession rights, has deepened ethnic divisions and conflicts.
@@BruckA.zerihun Rather, South Africa’s unitary system with provincial divisions and a strong federal structure, which grants minority groups the right to self determination fosters unity because citizens respect the constitution, while in Ethiopia many citizens do NOT respect the constitution and regional borders, and decided to invade and ethically cleanse neighboring regions, which further threatens national cohesion and the Multinational federal system and forces certain regions to eventually make use of their constitutional right to secession! Fixed it for you 😉
Foundationless and false, you are unaware of the nation you assert to be yours, ignorant of Ethiopian history, English proficiency doesn't signify understanding... you lack knowledge of Ethiopian federalism.
Hey, i have a different perspective even though i am Eritrean, i just watched an educational video of how humans created nationalism by a journalist called johnny harris and would suggest you to watch the video and reflect on what you are saying. in my opinion i feel like habeshas would have achieved much more in life if we all spoke one language thats the most useful Amharic or Tigrinya, u can see why it would be useful for people after watching the video.
Well that was very educational, especially for families, normally if there is an argument between two people, that idea applies ,but if you understand that everyone has a particular view that must be respected, we will live happily
My sister Orania is a formation that is permitted by section 235 of the Constitution of SA, its called a self determination area which means a tribe can choose to live together to practice their language and culture. Any tribe in SA can establish this kind of formation in terms of section 235 of the Constitution. The application to be a resident in Orania says nothing about race meaning race is not a requirement in being a resident in Orania. Its for this reason that most South Africans have no problem with Orania which happens to be located on a small private land
Tribes can live side by side in Africa.Hate one another or tribalism equivalent to racism in Europe or Apertheid in former South Africa is unacceptable. In Uganda tribes live side by side in Harmony.over 20 tribes exist in Uganda in peace.
TPLF had a different vision as long as they could rule Ethiopia and exploit it. As they lost the power in Addis- they recalled their heritage and went to Tigray/Mekele.
I want to honor your view, but one thing I do not see you
highlight enough is the fact that TPLF leaders were not motivated
by their concern about the Tigray region, people and future of young people there.
Once they lost the election, regional politics became a way to attempt an armed return to power.
Ethiopia is beautiful, I love the people, so I will say what I will say next carefully.
TPLF was in power for a long time,
What did they ever do to improve the quality of life of people in Tigray?
The community markets in Mekele and other areas, housing etc... were never touched
in a way that demonstrates government commitment to improving the region and the life of people.
@planB-BacktoAfrica
Today I watched a discussion that was quite interesting:
Ethiopia in focus, with the Minister of Finance and the Press Secretary of the Prime Minister office.
The first 10 minutes or so were interesting, informative, talking about the different stages
in the political life of the country that leads us to today.
Only state commitment to improving people lives, good governance, delivery, inclusive economic development and social equity will
lead to people in all regions wanting unity and cooperation with other regions and countries.
I have a feeling this is what you want to see in Africa and other countries
May be one day we will talk more about what could make things better.
Here is a link to that episode, I haven't finished watching the full discussion.
Not sure what your view is on listening to governement officials, but I thought these two are intelligent.

No, ethnic federalism does not exist in South Africa. The country’s system of governance is based on a unitary state with decentralized features rather than an ethnic federal structure.
Key Features of South Africa’s Political System:
1. Constitutional Democracy
South Africa operates as a constitutional democracy with a centralized constitution that guarantees rights and freedoms for all citizens.
2. Unitary State with Decentralization
While the country is divided into nine provinces, these provinces do not have ethnic or linguistic bases. Each province has a certain degree of autonomy, but they are ultimately subordinate to the central government.
3. Non-Ethnic Provincial Divisions
The provincial boundaries are drawn based on geographical, historical, and administrative considerations rather than ethnic or cultural divisions.
4. Non-Racial Governance Framework
The post-apartheid South African Constitution (adopted in 1996) rejects governance based on racial or ethnic divisions. Instead, it emphasizes unity and equality among all citizens, regardless of ethnicity.
Comparison with Ethnic Federalism
Ethnic federalism, as seen in countries like Ethiopia, involves dividing the country into regions or states primarily along ethnic lines, granting each ethnic group significant autonomy, and sometimes the right to secession. South Africa does not follow this model; its system aims to integrate diverse ethnic and cultural groups under a unified national identity.
Historical Context
South Africa’s history under apartheid involved systemic racial and ethnic segregation.
I could not explained it more than that, you explained it perfectly
Let’s be honest. TPLF caused a lot of chaos and destruction.
All sides r funded by the same people
2000%
TPLF basically re-introduced the colonial divide and conquer system to Ethiopia. Put laws into place, changed school curriculums, re-zoned the entire country, so that the nation will fall into shambles without their “leadership”. Many warned against it but the villains of TPLF who deliberately laid out this system as a foundation for the current generation. Now we’re reaping what was sowed - corruption, ethnicism, tribalism, hate, distrust, entitlement … you name it. Unless we all wake up and acknowledge it, Ethiopia as we once knew it will be no more. 😔
They are the definition of evil and chaos! 😔
As someone of Caribbean identity I have always held Ethiopia and it's people in very high regard. It saddens me greatly to see the internal conflict that threatens to destabilise this beautiful ancient land. I hope the path of peace and unity is chosen over division and conflict.
Weyni. I'm Kenyan - Luhya by ethnicity. I love the honesty and objectivity of your content.
How did you know that it is honestly?

South African doesn't use the Federal system.. Weyni,
This is the second or third episode of yours that I’ve watched, and I want to start by acknowledging the challenges and fears you faced when you left Ethiopia.
This is 100% true
@@zamanikutta
Yes Ethnic federalism is not only bad, it is backward and distractive especially with globalization and the technological transformation the world is going.

Correction: I wrote succeed. I meant to write secede. I have corrected it.
It wasn't colonized because they decided to collaborate with YT people and betray their brothers and sisters who were Muslims as they, themselves like YT people, were Christians.

You can't deny the current chaos and conflicts here and there in the country. Not only armed involvement but also racial tension is rampant in the country. The federal system is not the problem but how it was organised; ethnic based structuring is the root problem.
Ethiopia's problem is the same as Sudan's and is called" the Arabs.. yes, the Arabs are the root of all the curses that happen in Africa
Absolutely, the pro ethnic federalists deceive many people as if they are advocating for federalism which is fake.

Well said!!

@@fruitsarelife7073 right
@fruitsarelife7073 Promoting Amharic is not "being a white man." All Ethiopian dynasties promoted the language, religion, and cultural tradition of the ruling class/ethnicity.
Don’t stop. Move forward. You will make a difference. Be courageous to speak your mind and make small but mighty differences!!! Good work!!!

Do you simply mean Africans should unite and work together without conflicts?
Woyane trained new generation. Listen, woman, your ethnic federalism has failed miserably. Mandela himself condemned it.
In fact after Mandela was elected president in 1994 in South Africa , he refused to visit Ethiopia which was then led by an Ethnocentric government of the TPLF / EPRDF.
Thank you for sharing your experience and insight

I would like to say a few points:
1. Nigeria is a federal state but the federation is not based on ethnicity. Switzerland, Germany, USA, etc are federal states, but are not language based or ethnic based.
2. I don't know about your upbringing but you seem to have been told wrong information about your own country, Ethiopia.
3. So many of the things you said about Ethiopia are wrong, simplistic, biased, and some times false
4. You are sending a wrong information about Ethiopia to the outside world.
5. If you lie about us, how can we trust you about the authenticity of the information you are telling us about others (other countries)?
My advice to you::
Clean your brain from the bias you were told (grew up with), be rational and educate yourself well about your own country.
I love this thoughtful and wise analysis from this bright young lady from Africa. I can not agree more.
Thank you for sharing, Weyni. 🙏
Very wonderful explanation and understanding my sister keep it up
"Did I just hear you say that ethnic federalism did not create conflicts?
Stop lying, people from different ethnic groups are luckily still getting married left and right!
@planB-BacktoAfrica They say Race matters in the West- In your poor nation, it's 'Tribe matters' 🙄 in the 21st century, it's ironic to see 'civilized ' folks defending "uncivilized " system which is the root of all sensess wars, destruction, conflict....US against THEM mentality.
@planB-BacktoAfrica Keep Calm and enjoy your dysfunctions.....I know 'a few' fake representatives always benefit from snatching foreign aid $$ and becoming overnight millionaires
@planB-BacktoAfrica The truth hurts....keep defending the toxic system. I thought I heard you saying you left because of hmmmm Can't stand hypocrisy
@planB-BacktoAfrica You mean divorcing left & right 🙄 those married before all the cirus
you are spot on my African Sister, I wish my South African people would remember the miracle we take for granted. But some of us remember
Thank you again for another insightful informative, videos!! I just L❤VE your
transparency, and talking points.
Keep these videos coming, as an educator, I've been a teacher in public education for 30 years. I just L❤VE
learning about Africa from your vast experience ❤️....
@@traceethompson3772 thank you
Great informational video!
Thank you!
Learning so much from your channel. Thank you for all your hard work!
I never herd an Ethiopian speaking English in a German accsent before. Wayne “ich mahe das”😅 Honey ,Ethiopians have their own language, you better use Amharic if you want your message to get to your people.
how can you be sure whether Ethiopians are solely her target audience.🥸
@planB-BacktoAfrica You are quite welcome. I have friends and in-laws who live there and I always worry about them.
@ I hope they are doing well 🙏🏾 how can I contact you professor? I would like to ask you something.
@planB-BacktoAfrica hi sorry I just saw this. I can be reached by email. How can I send it to you?
Yes you are right my sister
Excellent video my sista. As an FBA/AA who has had Eritrean and Ethiopian friends and girlfriends, this was quite informative. I've known for sometime about the ethnic & cultural diversity og Ethiopians, but this has ignited more curiousity about the very intricate history and political hisyory of Ethiopia.
This was equally informative concerning South Africa, Nigeria and the model of Federalist governments
Do your own research, she is pushing for a propaganda
Thank you brother 🙏🏾 I will create more content about Ethiopia to share my perspective and knowledge.
@cheatcoddes Will do. Which proganda/agenda do you think,?
That's the whole idea. Learn as many languages as you can.

As a South African I always find it ironic that as a so called violent country we somehow dont have civil wars creeping up every second there is a disagreement…our elections are peaceful and we are free to even dress in our party colours etc with no incidents of violence from opposing parties…thank you for this video and your perspective..quite refreshing
We are extremely tolerant as a nation. It's especially unusual considering how diverse we are.
I like Ur English accent 😊very clear and easy to understand ❤
The African union needs to hear this
They are EU/west funded, what u expect from them?
I dont think they have time for such bullshit 🙏
It is poor study. There was not ethnic war in Ethiopia before 1991 but it started to happen after we implement federal system. You do not have detail information a bout Ethiopia
The way Ethiopian Federalism was being compared with Apartheid was not as you are saying. It was practically marginalizing all Ethiopians except for Tigriyans.
The point of conflict was that Tigriyans considered themselves superior to all Ethnic groups in Ethiopia.
View, like, subscribe, like, and comment. Share, thank you ❤❤❤❤🎉
You became as bad as TPLF.
Fixed it for you 😉
@planB-BacktoAfricathat’s sad though. All the best to Ethiopia 🇪🇹
Thank you for a deep truthful content that is not seeking to sensational issues but expose the truth
Foundationless and false, you are unaware of the nation you assert to be yours, ignorant of Ethiopian history, English proficiency doesn't signify understanding... you lack knowledge of Ethiopian federalism.
What a perspective. Thank you !!
Swahili is the most spoken language in Africa, and it is African. I feel it is the best option for uniting the many ethnicities in Africa
You are beautiful and intelligent! All Power to the People!
Tribes can live side by side in Africa.Hate one another or tribalism equivalent to racism in Europe or Apertheid in former South Africa is unacceptable. In Uganda tribes live side by side in Harmony.over 20 tribes exist in Uganda in peace.
Excellent explanation well done!
TPLF had a different vision as long as they could rule Ethiopia and exploit it. As they lost the power in Addis- they recalled their heritage and went to Tigray/Mekele.
