My first concert was Kiss at Varsity Stadium, Sept 6, 1976. Artful Dodger opened, followed by Blue Oyster Cult.
General admission: $6. There was a bit of a riot before the show.

Yep Blue Oyster Cult and Artful Dodger. Bob Seger was also on the bill but dropped out at the last minute to record his career making "Live Bullet" at Detroit's Cobo Hall that very night. I've still got the program from this show, and even though it lasted less than an hour, it left me completely drained!

THIS was my very FIRST ROCK CONCERT too! My friends and I were huge KISS fans, and this Varsity Stadium show was all we could think about all Summer leading up to Labour Day! I remember they had to let us in Early, because a guy from my school busted a hole in one of the Garage Doors! I thought THAT was what the Toronto Sun meant when they wrote the headline: KISS KIDS RIOT! I personally do not remember ANY Riot AFTER the show at Varsity Stadium, BUT WE DID RIOT TO GET IN EARLIER THAN 3PM!

I was there…I recall the crowd getting in early. A group of kids started ripping fistfulls of Varsity turf and throwing it in all directions…I don’t think they ever allowed another rock show on that well kept field after that. Kiss ruled that night…never better….

@amaral7777777 Fragments and memories is right! My friends and I were 15 years old when we saw this same show at Varsity Stadium! I was right there when a guy from my high school kicked a hole in one of Varsity's wooden garage doors! They let us all onto the field early after that happened. That's why the Toronto Sun headline said: "KISS kids riot." LOL! Some riot! We just wanted to get in early, and that's what happened! What a great show to end the summer with! School was the next day.

@@amaral7777777 Labour day. Monday. Sept 6, 1976. I had to go to school on Tuesday. This was Monday. I could not heart my teacher for a week.
I am 60 now. I remember every second of that night. In Canada that would be 09/10/76. We are not American and we like things in order. Day month year. Just like minute hour day month year.
Four years later I subbed. I have the entire show on cassette tape.. More footage would be good. I know it is out there.
Sorry for the late reply. TH-cam does not give me alerts or notifications. I have only been here since 2006...

@charliejimmerson wow charlie - you were there? So was I, all of 14 I remember it well because of the riot along Bloor St made City TV news. When I made it home my mother who really didnt know much about this new thing was not impressed. What I recall was literally seeing people on Top of buildings on swingstages hanging off things to see Kiss. Kiss came into Varsity in limos with mounted police escort and it was already a mob scene. We should chat bud, it would be fun to see that program.
