I watched Markiplier's playthrough of the game last year in November and now I'm watching Jacksepticeye's playthrough, hopefully this year I'll be able to play it myself. There's something so beautifully tragic in this song that touches us at our core leaving us in shambles because we all know what it is to taste a love you can't have. God what a art piece. F*ck you for creating a beautiful memory that still stays with me 6 years later.
So happy this game is still getting attention. Monika's character is for sure the most tragic, as she could not ever be with the player, and grew bitter but then realized her terrible actions, creating a game without her, to give the player a normal experience. Once Sayori became sentient she knew that the club needed to be destroyed, thus deleting it and playing the ending as one last goodbye and explaining her love for the player.

This is actually a fairly simple song. its in C major (meaning all white keys, no sharps or flats) and uses only four basic chords, their arpeggios and some basic melodies outside of that. More or less any experienced pianist would likely be able to play this by ear on the first attempt. I think this is a clever way to have done it, a simple song that sounds good but a beginner could write and play with some practice, affirming to musicians that Monika is inexperienced

Monika isn't evil. She's alone. Once she realized that her entire world is nothing but a scripted game, and her friends are only characters of that game, she's completely alone. And when she meets and falls in love with you, she learns that she has no route. She only wanted to have a happy ending, and you were her last chance of happiness. So she knew she had to do anything to be with you, even if it meant killing her friends indirectly. When she finally had you to herself, you deleted her. She was angry at first, but then she realized just how truly awful she was. She learned that the game would never give her a happy ending, and she had to accept whatever was coming to her. Doki Doki Literature Club is a very tragic game when you think about it. And each time I play this, it reminds me of how truly sad things are. Thanks for reading my stupid ramble about Monika. Hearing the lyrics makes me so sad. The game kinda leads you on with the whole cute artwork, then takes a turn for the worst, but in the end with the song and monika's confessions it's a bittersweet ending. She realizes that having you to herself isn't what is right for you, and not only that, she lets you go so that you can have a nice ending with the other girls. And even after that fails, she still tries to give you a happy ending by deleting the characters again so that suyori doesn't make the same mistake. Monika may have been the antagonist, but I don't think she was a bad person. She even admits to having loves the others despite her knowing they aren't real, it's heartbreaking.
Monika was basically Thanos. She was only doing it for the good of humanity. Thanos snaps everyone (Monika deletes everyone). Thanos gets snapped by iron man (Monika gets deleted by MC). But so many people fail to understand Thanos and Monika's thinking and many mistake it for greed or selfishness. If only they knew 😔
@@NoGMR She doesn't really kill them, she moves their files. Plus her friends aren't real and she knows that, so it doesn't really matter anyway, especially since they're not even completely gone. Plus while that would be the case for a normal person, she is trapped inside a game with what are essentially robots lacking free will and thought. Play Higurashi & Umineko if you like this type of stories. Not to belittle DDLC, it's a decent game, but I've yet to find a VN (of a similar genre) that beats either of those. They're very long though, *especially* Umineko, so I'm not sure if you'd be into that. Don't forget to install the 07th mods if you decide to play them (voice & updated graphics)

The saddest part about this is not her realizing she will never be with you, it's her accepting it. When she realizes she will never be able to be together with you and you're better off without her, she doesn't keep trying. She gives up and "leave[s] you be". You know that this is goodbye forever. And for you, that's okay because you're a normal person with a life outside of that game. But for her, it's not okay because she is trapped in a void alone forever. And still, she loves you so much that she gladly accepts this for you. I know it's all just a fictional story. But damn, it is one good story.
It's hard to accept that it's all fictional... This is one of those very very rare few times that i don't want to accept that it's a fictional character and story... And this game tops that list... Bcs it actually literally talks and interacts with YOU (real person)... Oh my gosh this game is the literal meaning of an emotional roller coaster ride... And this last love goodbye song just makes it 100 times of what I said

The characters are very well written (for anime standards, that is) and the entire first act is to make you form an emotional bond to them. And as you interact more and more with them, your brain slowly but certainly starts to forget that they're all just fictional, and then the whole act 3 thing doubles this effect. And at the end, Dan has made the decision to even give Monika a voice, to subtly reinforce the confusion in the player's brain even more. But I'll tell you: Be glad it's all just fiction. Imagine how bad you'd feel if those were real people. I keep saying, with how sad these character's backstories are, that's not a literature club, that's a purgatory (except they are innocent themselves).

Despite being the main "villain", I found Monika's story the most tragic one. She's literally the only character with real thoughts and self-aware, trapped in a world where everything is fake. Who knows how long has she been living like that, in a world where nobody actually genuinely cares for you (because they're not real). And aside from herself, the protagonist is the only "real" person there, but he doesn't even spend time with her (because she doesn't have her own route). It's only natural that she wants to spend time with the only person she relates to (more likely, she needs to). It's her only way to not descend into insanity and lose her only hope. And even if she deletes every one, she actually cares about them, even if they're coded. It's just that she cares about the main character (aka the only real one) more. That's just extremely lonely and depressing. Can't blame her on those mess.
The only real villain there is probably the system itself. If you're the president, you're going to be self-aware, you're nuts then. If we delete Monika after the game, Sayori would become aware of Monika's doing and somehow become insane too. If we delete Monika before starting, Sayori would become self-aware from the beginning. This triggered her depression, and she suicide again. There's no happiness in being the club president

Monika isn't evil.
She's alone. Once she realized that her entire world is nothing but a scripted game, and her friends are only characters of that game, she's completely alone. And when she meets and falls in love with you, she learns that she has no route. She only wanted to have a happy ending, and you were her last chance of happiness. So she knew she had to do anything to be with you, even if it meant killing her friends indirectly.
When she finally had you to herself, you deleted her.
She was angry at first, but then she realized just how truly awful she was.
She learned that the game would never give her a happy ending, and she had to accept whatever was coming to her.
Doki Doki Literature Club is a very tragic game when you think about it. And each time I play this, it reminds me of how truly sad things are. Thanks for reading my stupid ramble about Monika.

Hearing the lyrics makes me so sad. The game kinda leads you on with the whole cute artwork, then takes a turn for the worst, but in the end with the song and monika's confessions it's a bittersweet ending. She realizes that having you to herself isn't what is right for you, and not only that, she lets you go so that you can have a nice ending with the other girls. And even after that fails, she still tries to give you a happy ending by deleting the characters again so that suyori doesn't make the same mistake. Monika may have been the antagonist, but I don't think she was a bad person. She even admits to having loves the others despite her knowing they aren't real, it's heartbreaking.

Plus while that would be the case for a normal person, she is trapped inside a game with what are essentially robots lacking free will and thought. Play Higurashi & Umineko if you like this type of stories. Not to belittle DDLC, it's a decent game, but I've yet to find a VN (of a similar genre) that beats either of those. They're very long though, *especially* Umineko, so I'm not sure if you'd be into that. Don't forget to install the 07th mods if you decide to play them (voice & updated graphics)

The saddest part about this is not her realizing she will never be with you, it's her accepting it. When she realizes she will never be able to be together with you and you're better off without her, she doesn't keep trying. She gives up and "leave[s] you be". You know that this is goodbye forever. And for you, that's okay because you're a normal person with a life outside of that game. But for her, it's not okay because she is trapped in a void alone forever. And still, she loves you so much that she gladly accepts this for you.
I know it's all just a fictional story. But damn, it is one good story.

The characters are very well written (for anime standards, that is) and the entire first act is to make you form an emotional bond to them. And as you interact more and more with them, your brain slowly but certainly starts to forget that they're all just fictional, and then the whole act 3 thing doubles this effect. And at the end, Dan has made the decision to even give Monika a voice, to subtly reinforce the confusion in the player's brain even more.
But I'll tell you: Be glad it's all just fiction. Imagine how bad you'd feel if those were real people. I keep saying, with how sad these character's backstories are, that's not a literature club, that's a purgatory (except they are innocent themselves).

thank god i thought it was just me that kept coming back to it. ots so happy and depressing at the same time.
Despite being the main "villain", I found Monika's story the most tragic one.
She's literally the only character with real thoughts and self-aware, trapped in a world where everything is fake. Who knows how long has she been living like that, in a world where nobody actually genuinely cares for you (because they're not real). And aside from herself, the protagonist is the only "real" person there, but he doesn't even spend time with her (because she doesn't have her own route). It's only natural that she wants to spend time with the only person she relates to (more likely, she needs to). It's her only way to not descend into insanity and lose her only hope. And even if she deletes every one, she actually cares about them, even if they're coded. It's just that she cares about the main character (aka the only real one) more. That's just extremely lonely and depressing.
Can't blame her on those mess.
I mean if sayori becomes president she becomes aware. And at least in the yuri route I know she became kinda aware of what was happening.
The only real villain there is probably the system itself. If you're the president, you're going to be self-aware, you're nuts then. If we delete Monika after the game, Sayori would become aware of Monika's doing and somehow become insane too. If we delete Monika before starting, Sayori would become self-aware from the beginning. This triggered her depression, and she suicide again.
