If I remember correctly Chomp is one of the few bots that has or at least used to have a internal tracking assistance. I remember it doing rather well. So either they had to remove or the tracking assistance is out of touch with the increased power of chomps spikehammer.
Fun fact: Chomp was designed to magnetically latch to the arena floor, but the Battlebox isn't magnetic. The reason why they thought it was magnetic is because the testing areas for Battlebots uses magnetic flooring, and the team were wrongfully told it was the same floor used in the battlebox.

Agreed. The wheel/steering arrangement and super-sharp response makes accurate targeting far too difficult for a single-strike weapon like an axe or hammer. I think either broad, concealed tank tracks or (best of all) a full crab/steer walking arrangement (allowing purely lateral transitions without any rotation) would help with both stability and targeting precision. But then it's always easy to 'improve' someone else's design from an armchair... ;-)
Shrederator: "Our plan is to try to get around to the side and stay away from that hammer." Spend the entire match in front of Chomp usually waiting for counter punches.
Guns are actually kinda bad, the bullets eat into your weight limit and if you run out of bullets and didn't get through the other bot's armor you're dead
it's probably cause it's harder to judge distance when you're on the ground watching from a horizontal angle, that's most of the problems with the hammer bots since if the opponent is on the other side of your bot from your viewpoint, it's rough to judge how close the enemy is to your own bot.
What people forget about axes is that they may not do impressive external damage, but they do have the potential to do devastating internal damage. Sometimes cutting a wire or puncturing a gearbox is all you need to win.
Can't wait until someone rips that robot apart my guess is it will happen next round against the defending champ. She shouldn't even had made it out of qualifying disco inferno dominated it and chomp spent 60% of the match on its side. Captain just isn't a robot that can move well enough to avoid the hammer plus if he isn't spinning fast then he's screwed against anybody. Really wish Nightmare was facing Chomp next would love to see her robot flip over and then for him to just get one clean hit and game over her robot is destroyed since it's so damn complicated not to mention one hit to your underbelly from nightmare and your gonna be in 100 pieces. He's basically taking on Chomps better version in Beta who also has the same problem with if he missed a hit he's gonna have his belly exposed for a few seconds.

Still Chomp is screwed such a over complicated robot. Any robot that basically any time it attacks it flips itself over is doomed against any robot with a solid weapon. Full spin bots are just never known to be good at maneuvering other then Ziggo in the classic Battlebots 10+ years ago. Really all you need in order to beat Chomp is a functioning weapon and be able to move because all Chomp can do is hope to line you up right under her hammer. Not very hard for any solid driver to avoid that hammer and attack her from her sides or rear end. Plus her robot has so many moving parts to it that all its gonna take is one solid hit and it's all over.

It's unbelievable at all the hard work the people put into making that robotic stuff just for them to destroy it , those things are like impressive RC vehicles that are one of a kind.
Shredderator has a consistent problem with the spinner failing as the match goes on, full body spinner needs a hefty motor that fails faster than spinners that just power a little sawblade
Do you guys realize that Chomp's armor was made specifically to withstand attacks? The other builders even said it could easily tank hits from Tombstone. I doubt its getting torn apart like last season.
axe and hammer bots don't need to have their weapon perform a full 180 degree rotation, the "default" position can be raised almost vertically to minimise the effort and time required for the attack and recovery.
Actually, this was a main fight, it was on the tv broadcast, theres only one line of competition in Battlebots, some fights are boring af so they don't show them but recap them instead to save time.
I hate Chomp. For like 8 reasons. The fact it is still in, and Stinger is out, is disheartening. Actually, fuck Megatento as well. Both are terribly designed robots which will get eatten by any functional robot with a working spinner. The fact Disco-Inferno lost that decision, and now this non-fight happened: I hope she goes all the way to Tombstone and gets literally torn apart like NUTS on RobotWars.
She's gonna get torn apart by last years champion forget the name of his robot it's not even one of the more powerful weapons but still the thing can actually move and hit her from your know anywhere but that tiny spot right bellow the hammer. I wanted her to face Nightmare I just want to see my favorite from the classic Battlebots get to tear into one robot this season one hit from his blade to any part of her robot and it's all over where she would need to hit him perfectly on his tail witch is such a skinny part of his robot to have any chance.
Actually I disagree. Mega Tento is a very well designed bot. It is built in the same formula of a very successful Lightweight bot, and UK Middleweight joint champ.
chdreturns It's main weapon a third-rate at best*, and it is a giant shock-absorber which is fine I guess. It's a design, but it's not a design which will ever win against half the competition. If, in later rounds, they make an argument that 'damage on the red part isn't real damage' then I'm just done with those judges. The fact Stinger crushed the red part in half against the wall multiple times, and the arguement is that 'Tento knocked his wheel off' (when it really was the grinders), I don't know what to say about that. I just feel the decisions have been very unequal when it comes to this season.

I REALLY like chomps design. (don't lynch me yet). The idea of a swinging weapon in this meta of all spinners in a breath of fresh air. Since most bots are spinners and flippers, no one is using much top armor as they don't need it verses those. This makes a swinging weapon bot pretty strong if it can actually land a good hit, (as you can see from the holes in the top of Cpt. shrederator). The only reason Chomp sucks is due to its poor aiming system. If its automated aiming system could actually judge distance well, Chomp would be a good bot. Hell, remove the flame thrower and some of its upper armor (both of which seem totally useless) and give it a more stable base and rotation speed, maybe tank treads since they can turn while stationary and have good grip, Chomp would be top tier.
Chomp missed on an immobile target, THREE TIMES! They should've let Capt Shrederator win because she couldn't even hit him and overall played absolutely terrible, with a terrible bot design, with an unskilled team, and us just sad. Capt Shrederator at least knew when to play offense and defense, where as she can't even hit him, IMMOBILE. Unbelievable.
Soviet Aleks there are loads of late hits that dont get called out. And even more during countdown, sometimes people also want to be hit while immobile cause maybe itll fix something. I mean ziggo and snowflake anyone? (Until she started asking for it)
Jay Sheth Women in Battlebots always annoy me... They usually aren't very good pilots and they often have very obnoxious voices. She wasn't even able to hit a stationary target in this match...
chomp seemed to have done a better job at repairing shredarator than actually hurting him. luckily shredarator was kind enough to turn himself off and concede the match

I could understand the floor being ferrous, but that seems like a very strange choice to make the testing floor magnetic.

I think Shrederator was having driving issues. After getting to the side successfully the first time, he was significantly slower.
MunkyDrag0n actually spinners like capt shrederater have trouble steering because you cant see which way the robot is facing

This makes a swinging weapon bot pretty strong if it can actually land a good hit, (as you can see from the holes in the top of Cpt. shrederator). The only reason Chomp sucks is due to its poor aiming system. If its automated aiming system could actually judge distance well, Chomp would be a good bot. Hell, remove the flame thrower and some of its upper armor (both of which seem totally useless) and give it a more stable base and rotation speed, maybe tank treads since they can turn while stationary and have good grip, Chomp would be top tier.

Chomp missed on an immobile target, THREE TIMES! They should've let Capt Shrederator win because she couldn't even hit him and overall played absolutely terrible, with a terrible bot design, with an unskilled team, and us just sad. Capt Shrederator at least knew when to play offense and defense, where as she can't even hit him, IMMOBILE. Unbelievable.
It survived the spinner hits. It can self right, it's not that bad really. Yes they need to work on their aim

It did prolong the match. Chomp hit shrederator in the iddle and the spinner restarted 2x.
what about when Chaos 2 took out almost all of the house robots after flipping his opponent out of the arena?

Soviet Aleks there are loads of late hits that dont get called out. And even more during countdown, sometimes people also want to be hit while immobile cause maybe itll fix something.

This is like MMA. You only stop hitting when the ref tells you to. Because there is always a chance that the opponent may comeback.
