    Thats bad ass, I almost sold my 99 1500 4x4 5.2, couldn't do it, it's my first truck and have had it for 22 yrs. Now I'm fixing her up. Especially with the price of trucks now days.

    Sweeeeet! I enjoy videos of the GEN II. I got rid of my gen 3, I purchased new in 04 and went back to a 97, 12V, 5sp, 2 years ago.
    I'm currently working on my 97 Jeep TJ and I'll start on my gen 2 later this year, I hope🤞.

    “267k miles, I doubt you’d be able to do that without the V10.” … you do know you’re talking about the MAGNUM engines right? My 5.2 has 300k miles without so much as a spec of metal in the oil pan. Fluffing your truck up is fine, but don’t drag the 5.2 or the 5.9 dude.

    Love the truck. I'm slowly working on a 99 V-10 4x4
    The interior or Dashboard was the weakest link . I have a garage full of parts and not much time my plan is to build a show truck. Like the previous owner it's retired.

    I don’t know about the Cummins you drove but mine has no problems getting on down the road it plenty fast enough and the fuel mileage is great around 23 + mpg hwy I usually get around 80 miles before the fuel gauge move’s off full and that’s around town I’ve taken it twice from Houston to Fort Worth on 1/4 tank

    That is a very nice truck. I have one that is like it, only mine is a 2001 model, and i dont have your mods. Dodge made a mighty fine truck in those days. 10 years ago i had a 99 dodge ram, and i traded it in on a newer dodge ram. When the new ram fell apart i specifically went looking for a 2nd generation dodge truck. I wont be selling my 2001 dodge. It is a much better made vehicle, and infinitely cheaper to drive and maintain than any new truck. Good video, i like what you ha e done with your truck.

  • @k0conutk0mando

    Very nice build. Have you considered an upgraded track bar? I am still on my stock suspension but once I upgrade to a BDS/Skyjacker/DoR kit once I've made up my mind I'd be interested to know how that would affect the ride. Did you have any dash problems? I have replaced my dash cover but the core is starting to fail. Socal sun and an outdoor life are a bad mix for these old Dodges.
    V10 haters are everywhere online, nobody knows the background of these engines. In 1996 when my truck was made, the V10 made in the ballpark of 300hp and 400tq. Stock Cummins made around 180hp and 350tq. I got my truck from my dad who was the original owner and he test drove them back to back, this V10 crushed not just a Cummins but all stock diesels. Besides, drive whatever you like. Not everyone has to be in to Cummins. I love gas trucks and would never buy a new diesel. Gas is plenty if you dont tow everyday.

    • @thrillhunter9897
      @thrillhunter9897  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes my dashboard has cracked in a couple places but I' fiberglassed the back side of it and it has stopped any further cracking and made it a lot stronger.. I have a 4 1/2 inch lift kit from skyjacker and it came with a track bar drop bracket. I had to cut a couple inches out of my stock track bar and re welled it together . I would have loved to have had an adjustable track bar.But I did my left about 15 years ago and there was Nothing like that available.

      You need to understand back in 1998 the Cummins was a slow pile of crap, barely made any power whatsoever. sure now they have kits to boost it up but back then there was nothing.. Gas was super cheap. I test drove the Cummins before I bought the V10 and it took forever just to get up to speed on the freeway which is not what I was looking for. It almost felt like I had to open the driver's door and help push it with my foot to get it going.
