  • We need to decide how much performance we are prepared to sacrifice, in order to trust the AI’s decisions. Will Browne is passionate about making machines and computers more intelligent for real-world tasks. His latest research is in how higher-level (abstract) patterns can help people understand the knowledge learned by such intelligent agents. This enables artificial intelligence and robots to be accepted in day-to-day applications varying from automated welding to assistive healthcare. Instead of deep impenetrable networks, his 25-year research journey develops transparent, counter-factual and eXplainable AI. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I understand the importance of human understanding and the role that technology can play in shaping our experiences and perspectives. Artificial Intelligence is rapidly advancing, and its impact on our lives is becoming increasingly significant. By allowing AI to explain its processes and decisions, individuals can gain greater insight into how it operates and how it affects their lives.
I appreciate the speaker's emphasis on the importance of transparency and accountability in AI. By providing an explanation of its processes and decisions, AI can increase public trust and acceptance, and help to mitigate concerns about bias and fairness.
However, it's also important to recognize that AI operates within the parameters set by its creators, and that its decisions and processes may be influenced by biases or limitations in the data it has been trained on. As such, it's crucial to continue to closely monitor and scrutinize the development and use of AI.
Overall, I believe that the ability of AI to explain itself has the potential to greatly enhance our understanding and experience of technology, but it's important to remain vigilant in ensuring that it operates in a fair and transparent manner.

Author Sobers Rodrigues' book Alien From Earth is based on the same topic. But the humanoid in his book is human- friendly. I am waiting for Sobers Rodrigues' Tedx speech to know his views on artificial intelligence.

No, AI systems cannot fully explain themselves. While AI systems can provide information about how they have been programmed and what specific decisions they have made, they do not have the capacity for introspection or self-awareness. They cannot explain their reasoning in a way that a human would understand and cannot provide insight into their own internal workings or thought processes. (by the way this post is AI generated 😀)

Honestly with the backlash of AI generators being misused unethically, I think there will be a movement against AI in general. They're gonna be against a neutral technology, then actual beings.

    • @marcustyrell4315

stammering - is relatively rare and happens in older children and adults as a result of a head injury, stroke or progressive neurological condition
… There are differences the way that the brain processes speech signals, and also some small differences in the structure of some parts of the brain
