    Got my 2022 QX60 Autograph in Dark Blue, in Jan last year... one of the first batch in Canada. Love it, no issues, gets a look over everywhere I go. It was the BEST value for money compared to MDX or RX350.

    We love the exterior and interior design of the QX60. We were deciding between the 4th Gen MDX or the the new QX60 and went ahead and bought the QX60 the moment we test drove it. The materials used in the interior of the QX60 are more luxurious than what they used in the MDX. The infotainment is also better on the QX60 and the technology is more advanced on the QX60. The seats are also more comfortable and ride is much quieter and smoother than MDX. The QX60 has more comfortable 3rd row because you can recline the seats. It also has air ventilation on the 3rd row which is still missing on the MDX. There are materials in the MDX that screams it’s a Honda. The integra also is not worth the price. I think infiniti did a really good job with the design of the QX60. It’s simple yet looks luxurious and the interior is beautiful! It doesn’t matter what the comments say, but someone has to drive both to feel the difference.

    Great review Alex! I really enjoy your content. When you're making the comparisons do you factor in dealership experience when you mention the vehicle's badge? My experience in the premium/luxury dealer office has been much more enjoyable than in mainstream outlets. I don't view myself as being high maintenance, but how I'm treated by their staff makes a difference in my decision. Also, if I'm going to spend between 50 and 90 thousand for an automobile, I need to feel good about the purchase and experience. The last time I went into a Kia and Hyundai dealership I was very disappointed. I do appreciate the value found in the Telluride and the Palisade. They look nice and their warranties are very long, but I don't think that's enough for me to feel good about the total experience of ownership.

    This is the right approach, they went down hill since they started using CVT on their cars, most Infiniti vehicles I've tested in the past had hard suspension like a rock, very heavy steering wheel and fancy exteriors. It seems that such combination did not work, now with the new QX60 the ride is plush, steering is light(not very light but ok), and it doesn't look like a soccer minivan like the outgoing model. I will fight for and die on the “Rear Turn Signals MUST be Amber” Hill.
    I don’t understand why automakers won’t just do it and I really don’t understand foreign automakers who have to use amber rear turn signals in almost all other markets but once the model is brought to the US market, they get rid of them. Why. I could go on about amber rear turn signals for hours.

    • @MIZUNOMP60
      @MIZUNOMP60 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hate red turn signals. It's much easier to differentiate amber turn signals from red brake lights. My guess is in the US is it's more cost effective for manufacturers to just use red turn signals as many autos have them built into the rear brake light housing which already has a red bulb or red housing.

    • @jonathankleinow2073
      @jonathankleinow2073 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Technology Connections had a good video about amber turn signals as well. Odd that NHTSA found a significant safety impact from them, and yet FMVSS won't make them mandatory. We only just got approval for headlamp regulation updates that will allow lighting tech that other nations have had for a decade, so I guess we shouldn't hold our breath.

      I wholeheartedly agree with you. Yet again we have antiquated laws. I also don't understand why some say red turn signals look better, I personally don't agree. Turns signals are for safety, don't care about looks. We should also get a mandatory rear fog light, like the EU. It's right up there with our outdated headlight law. Just give us what the EU has. Their regulations are far superior in vehicle safety.

    To me, logo doesn't matter that much, but when it comes to vehicle ownership and the customer care that comes with that logo, that makes it matter. Having owned both Infinitis and Hyundais, I'd pick the Infiniti offering all day, any day, no matter how good of a deal the Hyundai offering appears to be. Infiniti's customer care is unmatched and Nissan in general is very generous when it comes to warranty work and preventative repairs. I've religiously taken my Nissans and Infinitis in for simple maintenance, both brands have given me courtesy cars and both brands have done preventative repairs beyond what I asked at no cost. I've had them call up once while doing an oil change and tell me "Hey, we noticed one of the back shocks leaked a bit so we wanted to replace both just to be safe. We'll file it as a warranty repair, so it won't cost you anything."
    Hyundai on the other hand is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Good luck getting them to even honor their warranties because they won't, that's all just for marketing. I've gotten to know HyundaiUSA's office pretty well with how many times I've had to call and say "look, I'm being billed for this [repair that is clearly covered by warranty] and would like the repair covered." They've also pulled the "we couldn't replicate the issue" line, meanwhile, I can see my car behind them doing the very thing I said was an issue (in one case the horn was stuck on for no reason with no one in the car). I'd be willing to say maybe it was that one dealer, but it wasn't, I got the runaround from 4 separate Hyundai dealers leading me to believe it's a directive from corporate. One point to their credit I guess, they did eventually agree to buy back one of our cars because the issues on it were getting out of control and very dangerous (every electrical component was malfunctioning, from door locks to transmission and throttle control), so the choice was either buy back our Sonata or face a class action lawsuit.

    I really like the design language of the Infinity inside and out and especially liking that taupe color option of your test car. I like a 'less is more' approach to luxury and I feel Lexus also captures that very well. Other manufactures seem to think that filling the space with 'bling' is best instead of putting the focus on quality and reliability.
    I noticed you spent quite a bit of time talking about the Hyundai Palisade compared to the Infinity but people who are interested in a luxury brand don't generally care about the Hyundai. One might even look at at the least expensive option in the established luxury car segment before getting the Hyundai.

    • @Threxx

      @@Mark-de4hj there are of course always outright cheaper options, but not if you want a third row with plenty of leg room and all the bells and whistles. At that point you are pretty much looking at the vehicles Alex compared here, plus a few more depending on budget and preference.
      In my opinion the average car buyer that wants a roomy third row is going to be less flexible on that requirement than they are on the badge. If they look at a BMW x7 and think it’s too expensive, are they more likely to look at an x5 or a palisade? Compromise on the third row or on the badge?

    • @Mark-de4hj
      @Mark-de4hj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Kyle T Yes, and people are making these compromises every day.
      Think of it like this, buying a home and a car are some of the most expensive purchases we might make. We do it all the time, choosing to give more value to 'designer' merchandise even though there are other choices. I am not saying it's the correct thing to do, but a lot of us do it anyway.

    Alex......My daughter has a 2020 QX-60 and she loves it. BUT.......with 23,800 miles on it she got a check engine light. She took it to the local dealer and they said the engine was full of sludge and they said this was her fault.....she must not have changed her oil often enough. Thus Infiniti said it is not covered under warranty and that she needed a new engine which cost $22,000. Note that she has followed oil change intervals as stated in the owner manual. I had two other mechanics check the car out and they both agree the oil is a bit dirty but far from the worst they have seen in other vehicles. And none of these other vehicles needed new engines. This vehicle is leased and I assume that the dealer she went to logged their findings in some database so I am worried if she changes the oil and filter and takes it to another Infiniti dealer to turn it in and get out of the lease, that they will say no, the engine needs to be replaced first. The car runs and drives perfect. No misses in the engine and no smoke from the exhaust even under for throttle acceleration. I researched the internet and there are a number of people claiming the same problem and being told they needed a new engine which they have been told cost between $22 - 27,000. Have you heard any similar stories? And do you have any advice as to how to get Infiniti to replace the engine under warranty? To be honest, I think the dealer is trying to take advantage of a women who brought her car in for service. But I can't afford to get into an endless legal battle with Infiniti. If you have information to share on this subject, please let me know. Thank you.

      Did they turn off the check engine light? This should be covered under the 4 year warranty , especially if she changed oil per the recommendations. If the second opinions say there’s nothing out of the ordinary and the car drives normally, that sounds like a sleazy dealer problem. Unfortunately no brand can escape this… especially with Infiniti having very limited supply currently due to the parts shortage and dealers are looking for other ways to make money. I would try another Infiniti dealer. While the CVT transmissions have been an issue, the VQ engine Nissan and Infiniti uses is pretty reliable from what I know of, but to say that you found other cases online it may be something going on to not disregard. I’d find all records of oil changes and get an oil change at another dealer or shop and see if it passes at the other dealer. There’s a chance dealers don’t share all information. Makes sense that they would, but it’s worth a shot.

      Something is missing in this story, if she followed the oil change schedule as you said (changed oil and filter at least twice (once every 10K miles) she should have documentation from the dealer service history record stating that she changed oil as per recommended service intervals, she just need to get a printout and submit it to Infiniti which should be sufficient to protect her from any liability! If she changed oil not in dealership, she can still bring documentation from the shop where she changed oil stating intervals, oil type and filter type. If oil type/filter type is not recommended/approved by Infiniti she might have a problem then. Always change oil and filter at dealership to ensure problem free warranty coverage. If you have the money to buy new Infiniti you should have the money to maintain it at the dealership, it's not a Range Rover! Loved it. So I checked out the new one. Also checked out the QX. Ended up going with the QX60. Liked the body lines better then the Pathfinder. It's touch screen larger and nicer then the Pathfinders. The Pathfinders is same one in the Outlander. The Sensorys interior had a much higher quality atmosphere to it. Even much better then the Pathfinder Limited trim. It actually sounded quieter inside on the road then the Pathfinder. The massaging seats great. The "zero gravity" seats nicer. Took a recent long road trip in it and I'm over 6ft and arrived not beat up but relaxed. You felt you were in an upscale vehicle unlike the Pathfinder which was decent but not like the QX. Yes you do have to use premium but you get more hp out of it. Glad I went with it over the Pathfinder. The two Pathfinders I was considering were the Limited and Rockcreek. I might add the QX80 Sensory was on my short list also. So I just went on and on which I just said I don't like doing.

So all that extra money is going for???? That is why I said it should have a hybrid or more power. I test drove both he QX60 and MDX. Ended up with the QX60 since I was able to get all the options I wanted including the 360 Camera and Heads up display for $3K less than the MDX( you have to go up to the Advance package to get those features in MDX), also Infiniti offered better discounts and I ended up leasing it for $200 a month cheaper than the MDX Advance. As for the features and ride quality, the ride is much better for me( Smoother and more luxurious), yes the MDX is more athletic, but not as smooth and quiet as the Infiniti.
    As for the tech features, the MDX infotainment is horrible, very basic maps and nav with no ability to make it full screen, the touchpad is non standard and difficult to get used to, can't compare to the QX60 full screen touch interface(iPad like). The right portion of the screen in the MDX is reserved for Audio, or secondary map content, you can't use it for anything else(wasted space in my opinion).
    As for the HUD, the MDX has a very limited HUD, yes its big but was little blurry for me and it turned out that it doesn't have all the adjustments like other cars including the Infinite! You can only change the brightness and bring it up and down in kind of circular motion (all other cars have up/down, left/right tilting, brightened as well)! If you don't get the MDX advance, you lose the HUD and there is no good way to display the turn by turn nav instructions in cluster, yes its digital but with very tiny fonts and minimal customizations. The turn by turn directions gets displayed inside the tachometer and its very tiny, definably cannot substitute a HUD while on th Infiniti and all Nissan products equipped with the digital gauge cluster, the graphics are extra large, cluster is highly customizable, and the turn by turn directions displayed in the middle of the cluster just like the HUD! The only thing that is better in the MDX is the adaptive suspension and SH AWD, but it comes at an expense of drive comfort, quietness in highway, and lower MPG due to the all time AWD.

Alas, they're at the bottom or near-bottom of the luxury pile with no hope in sight. What they need is to move (and quickly) in the direction of hybrid/electric performance with the past design concepts and introduce new models that will fill in their dying portfolio. Saying infiniti is a Nissan plus or Lexus is a toyota plus is considered an insult. You’re paying over 50-70K and getting an economy car with lipstick
    Acura being Honda plus is not entirely correct. The more expensive acuras use bespoke platforms with unique suspensions and drivetrains not found in lesser Hondas. No mainstream Honda civic or accord or pilot has a double wishbone front suspension or a turbo v6. Sure the integra uses a civic platform but it’s an inexpensive car so that’s totally fine. As you get more expensive vehicles, then sharing mainstream economy car platforms becomes a big problem.
    If you want affordable luxury, mainstream cars in top end trims do well. Not to mention that you can always service a mainstream car at a luxury dealership. Yes you pay more but you get a nicer experience and you still pay less in the grand scheme of things than getting a luxury car on a mainstream platform at the same dealer

      Plenty of room inside. I'm over 6,ft, my son drove it and loved it. Plenty of room for him at almost 6ft 6.

    Nissan/Infiniti used to give a well designed, sporty. fast accelerating, long-lived, low maintenance vehicle at a price 10% below competition.
    Then it's poor UI hit. Then Renault. Then the Jayco CVT
    Then the earthquake.Then the variable displacement motor. Then COVID.
    Too many hits to maintain headway. It floundered. Too bad. I owned a V6 MT in both a Maxima and G35 forms over 20 years. Zero repairs in 500 000 very satisfying miles.
    Even if a Q50 Red Sport could do this, it should be priced at ,, $45.
    Gave up sporty driving, ( CA roads are crowded with young knickleheads and immigrnts with attitude & guns) and am now isolated in a '17 Highlander AWD, that should outlive me.

      While I mostly agree The variable compression motor has been a success, people just overhyped the potential fuel economy.
      In terms of power and fuel economy few motors match the VCT, and it’s been pretty dang reliable.
      As for the VR30 equipped models the inflated MSRP was a mistake, it scared away a lot of potential buyers despite having insane lease deals on the models.

    It has the awful ZF 9 speed. No thanks.

  • @keithf8649

    I don't see what makes this stand out as particularly great for families with kids except the folding feature of the second row, which seems superfluous after seeing how tiny the third row is. Not really surprising though, considering it's missing 10 inches of interior room compared to the much more practical 3 row competition (Telluride/Pallisade and Enclave).
    That piano black touch control panel for the climate control is going to look disgusting with use. Why not just use buttons?
    Carryover 3.5 and the hated ZF 9 speed and this is considered an improvement only because the CVT is so terrible? LOL

    There are a lot better auto companies than the Infiniti. Infiniti has the worst after sales service..they don’t want fix issues and. Build quality is such as bad for a 70k car. Save yourself headaches in after sales service

    • @MGMidget73

      Wrong on all your counts. I've had no issues. Build quality is top shelf. Everything like panel gaps, paint quality, mechanics and electronics are too shelf on my 23 QX Sensory. I'm a Acura and Toyota owner and I have say Infiniti is better.

      I had mine by a new Highlander and they look nothing alike. Mine was much nicer looking and I'm a current long time Tundra owner. If Infiniti did their version of the Titan I'd trade my 07 Tundra for it. Toyota is losing its shine. Hate the new Tundra.

    The fact that Nissan openly admits that the future of Infiniti is Nissan+, it devalues the Infiniti logo. At this point, Nissan should just scrap the Infiniti brand and make Mitsubishi the new luxury Nissan

    • @BigHeadClan

      Infiniti had always been Nissan+… nicer interiors and tech than their Nissan counter parts.
      Been that way for the last 20 years.
