This episode was so intense I literally had to pause throughout the episode to take breaths... Such beautiful acting by Neil and Emmett OMG and story writing! GIIVE THESE GUYS AWARDS.
Neil Newbon is a vey good actor he and Emmett have great chemistry together they play off each other very well.. I don't understand why Neil wasn't voted "New Comer" it's crazy to me he's a far better actor than the actor playing Dr. Browning.
This is acted so well, especially Neil, wow! However, over time I have changed my mind about the "rape" scene. I don't care if the producers/writers say it was not rape. What exactely is the excuse for doing this to someone who is obviously paralized with fear, just because he doesn't say "no" or doesn't scream and initiated the kiss? No matter how you look at it, Brendan doesn't give a fuck that after the kiss Walker just lays there and looks terrified. At this point he should have stopped.
This is so complex. I don't think it was rape. Walker says he tried something meaning them having sex might have been his plan to regain Brendan's trust. His limpness and utter disgust with the act actually happening was because of how much he hated Brendan and would probably rather be dead than have sex with him. Like I said, it's so very complicated because I think it was consensual because in that moment, Walker saw it as the only way to regain his trust so he could carry on with his scheme against Brendan but he hated that he had to do it. However, I do agree Brendan should have taken note of the obvious visual cues and body language to see that Walker wasn't really into it.
"I tried something, I don't know if it work as yet" omgosh this is just genius, he is so desperate to get what he wants he is just as blind and lost as Brendan. please give hollyoaks later all the awards right now. when you have so many brilliant actors on Hollyoaks later this is just genius. I mean the fact im out of words and after a scene with brendan in the barn to his acting in the room. I may be the only one who still loves brendan. I honestly just love what they did brilliantly written.
I'm utterly speechless. The writers, Emmett and Neal have done such an amazing job with these characters and that storyline. It's so captivating and bold - going to places I couldn't imagine a DALY SOAP (!) would ever dare to go. This Hollyoaks Later thing is the best idea ever. Thank you, emmettscanlanfans, for uploading it for us.
wish we had ste and brendan on hollyoaks later, they would've been able to do and say so much more, on normal hollyoaks they were daytime telly limited but still had firey chemistry
Brendan didn't Ever kill anyone. Sure he cut up that body & disposed of it to protect Young Joel who had been abused by that man as a child. Joel thought he killed this man but the cop who is going after Brendan actually finished the man off but only the audience saw that .
Oh my god! This episode just about stopped my heart! The acting is, I can't even describe it it's so amazing! Especially Walker and Brendan. Hollyoaks had been getting boring lately, but they have obviously gotten so much better! I can't wait to see how this all pans out.
Again, Walker's initital motives don't matter and Brendan doesn't know anything about that. The only things he knows is that Walker initiated a kiss and then didn't give him in any way signals that he wanted to have sex with him. Quite the opposite. Stop shifting the responsibility to just one person. Banging someone who reacts like that is just wrong.
"Brady's not like the others. It's not just a matter of trust. He has to love you. That's his Achilles heel. That's his one weakness. Ya see, he'd die for the ones he loved." Very insightful, that Walker. Too bad he's gone... just kidding, it's not bad at all =)
You're right, and his way of finding intimacy has always been a warped one. This just shows how damaged BB really is right now. Wow. I'm still processing all this.
I had to pause the vid at that moment, because it was that powerful. That scene took a few minutes to process before I could move on. Then Brendan's reaction to his little sister seeing him in such a way...God. Just tortuous all around.
Since you watched the whole storyline you know that Brendan didn't get away with any of the crimes he has committed the way it is portrayed was on point I think the writers did a good job it wasn't a typical American soap storyline.
Wow. What got me about the Bralker scene is that, to me, it felt like this way of having sex was somehow taught to him: the licking, the way he turned Walker's head, almost like he was holding it down. Almost like this was learned behavior from his childhood? I'm sure he didn't have sex this way with Ste...unless it was my own imagination?
I know Walker is doing this for his brother but OMG, he looked like he was dying inside and probably was!!!! It's probably a good thing I watch these episodes because on Daytime Hollyoaks, Brendan appears to be this wanna bad/tough guy. Ya we saw him kill Mick yada yada but within the context of daytime soap.....this really lets us see how much of a bad guy he is and how far he will go to protect those he loves. That's cool and all and I'm loving it but Ste.....STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!! LOL
I agree with you i never ever want to see a scene like that again with Brendan/Walker it was too disturbing and it just made me sick looking at i got chills.I too wanted Bralker to happen but not anymore.
My problem with this scene is Brendan's behavior based on the info he had. He doesn't know anything of Walker's motives (and even if that was his initital goal, he clearly couldn't deal with it when it happened), he just sees and feels how he reacts after the kiss, that is what matters.
He gets it now, Brendan cannot fully trust if he doesnt love him (brendan was already suspecting him and you see he uses him as a disposable than anything else) has always said it, his weakness is caring. When he loves somebody he cannot let them go and would do anything them (like you see what he does for Ste) as demented as it is he was willing to do it and made sense to him but he is just as lost.
So you're telling me that you weren't disturbed by the hacking scene you just saw? AND the non-consensual/rape scene with Walker? ANDD the total lack of remorse he feels for what happened, not to mention, the emotional scarring he's left on Joel. I mean come on. He's crossed the line.
This was a really hard episode to watch. I knew the Walker/Brendan hookup was coming but only a sick person could have enjoyed that. THEY certainly didn't. They were just using each other, a means to an end, and knowing that, especially with Walker crying and scrubbing Brendan off his skin in between, just twists my stomach. That being said, it was not rape. If Brendan had been in a better frame of mind, he would have realized that Walker wasn't into it. And the cutaways only show what Brendan is doing and how Walker reacts to it; they conveniently don't show Walker participating at all to make it that much more ambiguous. Cheryl walking in, finally seeing that Bren really is a monster like Teresa said (even tho Teresa is calling him that for all the wrong reasons) was just heart-breaking. I don't know why they made Brendan take it so far. There's absolutely no reason for him to and no reason why wise and intelligent Brendan Brady would. This storyline started out intriguing but it's taken an unnecessarily dark and twisted turn now.
I am not convinced at all, even if Walker was new to gay sex Brendan screwed everything. He only wanted to have Power on Walker, I saw a rape here. Ok Walker didn't Say no, in some frames He seemed like "liking It" but considering how he felt later I think that Walker was raped. The boy was totally terrified, that's not consensual sex. That's rape.
The sex between Brendan & Walker left me speechless. I never thought Walker would go there. And the break between Brendan & Cheryl I wasn't expecting either. Theresa's text to Cheryl and Cheryl's discovery has broken the relationship between her and Brendan. He's also lost Joel & Theresa, although it's only Joel that matters to him. It looks like Bendan now has no one, except his nemesis, Walker.
it's been years but... people saying "it's not rape, he initiated as a plan or something just like he told his mom" bla bla bla and shit like that but guys... being rape or not that sure was messed up... even for my kinky ass that scene triggered me a bit
also nice to see you commenting again. I havent seen you commented in awhile. sounds weird but you are one of the few I remember :) I hope you are alright.
I think the reason it seems like Walker wasn't into the sex was because he wasn't. People seem to be forgetting the point that, to Walker, Brendan represents the loss of his baby brother, so of course he's not going to enjoy having sex with him. But throughout the entirety of his time on Later (and in the previous episodes), Walker has been trying to gain Brendan's trust, so in his mind, he needed to have sex with Brendan, uncomfortable or otherwise. Simple as.
There's a logic to what he's done. He's cutting off the ways to identify the body - the feet, the hands, the teeth - to protect Joel. Then Cheryl walks in and that's it. The last straw. He's very good at compartmentalizing and her seeing him doing that blurs the lines. Crazytime! Then Walker's comment about Cheryl, and an already fragile state gets pushed over the edge. Man, that was terrifying to watch. And Walker's reaction to the sex... Neil was EXCELLENT there. Where to now, Hollyoaks?
@anyusa0030 yeah I could see that..."a nameless somebody", which is why he turned his head. Not to mention his state of mind at the time. It just seemed so, I don't know, familiar, like something learned, but that could be because maybe he does treat all those nameless me he shags that way? It just struck me a how non-loving it was, but he doesn't love Walker so that explains it? Sorry for rambling. Still processing this epi.
And I watched the whole storyline. I agree that it is like real life. The problem is the way it is portrayed that gives certain fans a chance to make excuses for the behavior of their beloved characters.
point blank is this scene was not a rape scene the producers said it wasn't a rape scene and the actors who participated said it wasn't and the fact that walker and brendan had a total wwe fight match before the sex scene is a clear indicator that walker was not afraid to stand up to brendan and defend himself so if he felt threaten he would obviously do something the scene was creepy at best but i know that that wasn't a rape scene
Right. I've been in her shoes, sort of. People telling me left and right what kind of person my brother was (he was addicted to meth), but I KNEW him better than anyone else and didn't see it. Until I finally did. And Bronagh nailed that feeling, I think. My heart broke for her AND for Brendan in those moments.
I think the REAL LOVE can make people want to be better and I honestly believe the REAL LOVE can forgive anything when it comes with a great reason to do it. And if you have already watched Later you know what I mean....
yup exactly. when he did it you can see on his face that he is just trying to resolve this problem given that would be sent to life and joel so young. even the line he said about trying somethign to see if it works. He was trying to keep his composure through the hold thing to till after he realize what he did. he is slowly losing his mind at the same time. you cant get close to someone without understanding that person and it changes u.
When HO said dark, they meant it, can't believe it, BB chopping up a body, cheryl seeing it, the Bralker sex, but Walker doesn't realize sex is not going to make BB care about him, love him....Walker is crazier than BB amd more desperate,,,,
You still don't make sense. You feel sorry for a character who's greatest pleasure is to cause others pain, who's a total psycho, who STARTED this downward spiral of violence and hurting others, but you don't feel sorry for the brother of one of his victims who got into this by reacting to Brendan's evilness and decided to finally got him punished for all the bad stuff he does and always gets away with?
I actually think Walker is much more fucked up than Brendan (not saying Brendan is not fucked up). He would have sex with Brendan even feeling absolutely disgusted, just to get his revenge, my god. I was shocked to see Brendan cutting Micks body so easily, cause I remember him being completely disturbed after killing Danny. Now he seems to be ok with it. I really tought Brendan was going to change for the better, so he could redeem himself and be with Ste, but he obviously changed for the worse.
Aw, thanks :) Yeah, it's been awhile since I've commented, cause I'm not sure if I really trust what HO is doing, and this epi was a complete mindfuck. An expected mindfuck, but still something that's gonna take me a while to wrap my head around.
Okay. What makes Bren redeemable is this. That he was so bothered by Cheryl seeing him. "You don't come back from that...I mean...my baby sister!" He was affected by the entire situation. from Joel shoving Mick off the tower to disposing of the body to protect Joel. But he's a sociopath! He compartmentalizes. Getting rid of the body was a job to be done, just in secret. That Cheryl seeing him affects him so much PROVES he's capable of redemption. The question is simply how to do that.
It's only uncomfortable because Walker was disturbed by the whole act the expressions on his face said it all that was the turn off for me. but despite what some people said about that scene Brendan did not rape Walker.
Well, that was nearly 20 years ago, and he's been clean for about 16 years. How he did it, with the odds against him, I don't know, but there was a time when we thought he was going to end up dead, but he pulled out of it. A fact I'm grateful for everyday. But yeah, at the time? Learning the hard way SUCKED.
I see it the same way. I agree with you. I find it interesting the lines ppl drawn. honestly, this is pretty good writing (imo) from hollyoaks how they kind of concluded this episode with core reason and disturbing as it sound was his reason or rather his weakness. he was thinking of a way to get out of this for him and joel, it isn't his day job.
If anyone scarred Joel emotionally it was Walker-he was the "Cop" who could have saved Joel's Father-but no-he killed him, so he's a Saint, just like he let Lyndsey be killed. Saint Walker. Actually, I think Brendan tried to protect Joel & did. He would "die for the ones he loves" as the blood sucking Vampire said. Brendan has brass balls, but that doesn't mean he enjoyed cutting up the corpse 4 Joel.. 2 me-so he's a Hero 2 do that, I'd want him to protect me 2.
i think that BB was totally bothered by what he was doing to mick's body if you watch his face...he was all teary. he had to make himself go to a different place inorder to do it. but it was what needed to be done in order to protect joel so he did it. which leads to walker being right on the money that BB will do anything to protect those that he loves so walker needs to become one of those that he loves, so that is his new tactic. it wasn't rape, he was just taking a step in that direction
You say the show has a questionable way of portraying domestic violence watch Amy/Ste storyline as for Brendan/Ste relationships like there's happens in real life as for Brendan this character out of any American soap characters is well done because you know what has made him the man he is I think the writers should pat themselves on the back for writing a character so raw and gritty like I said before watch the whole storyline before you judge.
Brenda's lost Cheryl for forever now. I thought Brendan was making progress, yet he didn't seem the least bit bothered about any of what just went down. With Danny at least he had a slight conscience. Walker is in over his head, his plan is sure to backfire. The only thing he will get from his revenge is becoming more screwed up then he already is.
People who say that scene was rape aren't taking into account either character and their mindsets. BB feels he just lost his sister forever, so if Walker gave any signals with his body language that he didn't want to have sex then BB was oblivious. Also people on other sites implied that BB handled Walker rough, hence the bruises and cut lip. Apparently they missed the fight scene that happened before the sex. Walker initiated this, it was HIS plan, not B's. He didn't enjoy it cuz he hates Bren.
Exactly, Walker allowed it all to happen: the fight and sex. He could've easily overpowered Brendan if he wanted. And of course he hated it all afterwards, that much could be seen from his behavior in the bathroom.
exactly this is television, sure in real life these things won't be exceptable. but they aren't a total jump as to what brendan has always been. the thing that truly disturbed me about this whole thing was cherlys vomit reaction. i mean to they really have to show that!
this show just gets better. im glad that Mic is gone just sorry Brendan had to take care of it himself you can see how emotionally hard it was for him so he isnt so bad as he makes out to be. the way ganny talks about how she has to get to the house makes me think she may have a body to get rid of before she dies?
also for the peeps, its not rape in the given circumstances that Walker is demented as Brendan. He gets it now and sadly is losing his mind at the same time.
This episode was so intense I literally had to pause throughout the episode to take breaths...
Such beautiful acting by Neil and Emmett OMG and story writing!

I don't see how this would not be rape.
poor cheryl!!! i cant imagine what she will feel like having a twisted brother like that O_O
oh Walker...how far are you willing to go now. you may be broken but not nearly as fucked up as Brendan is and that will be your demise.
@alwaysuseless which is exactly what Walker wanted. The problem is though that Brendan could never love him, which is why the plan will fail.
Checking.
Yep, still lovin Brendan.
(Poor, poor Cheryl, though. My heart was aching for her the most.)
i think that BB was totally bothered by what he was doing to mick's body if you watch his face...he was all teary. he had to make himself go to a different place inorder to do it. but it was what needed to be done in order to protect joel so he did it. which leads to walker being right on the money that BB will do anything to protect those that he loves so walker needs to become one of those that he loves, so that is his new tactic. it wasn't rape, he was just taking a step in that direction
I think she will forgive him sooner or later. She loves her brother. His lost without her.
Yeah, me too. He now knows his one weelness and will use it to his advantage.
This is sooo disturbing; how does Cheryl forgive him for this?
You say the show has a questionable way of portraying domestic violence watch Amy/Ste storyline as for Brendan/Ste relationships like there's happens in real life as for Brendan this character out of any American soap characters is well done because you know what has made him the man he is I think the writers should pat themselves on the back for writing a character so raw and gritty
like I said before watch the whole storyline before you judge.
Very disturbing part but nobody does it better than Hollyoaks!! Talk about entertainment at it's best!!!
They went Dexter up in Hollyoaks Later!
LOL XD I love this episode too.
WHOA!! That was intense!
hollyoaks later, its only for one whole week. the daytime hollyoaks still continues. HL just focus on one main story tho.
Anybody know that song that Brendan was playing when he was cutting of the guy's limbs?
I would agree but given I understand the whole story now I see why he seem so calm. more details for what ?
No, just no.... I'm speechless.
(And even so, their performances are great)
Bralker-love-hate to the nth degree.
this show just gets better. im glad that Mic is gone just sorry Brendan had to take care of it himself you can see how emotionally hard it was for him so he isnt so bad as he makes out to be. the way ganny talks about how she has to get to the house makes me think she may have a body to get rid of before she dies?
Oh! And huh...why, why, why couldn't they have had a Brendan/Ste sex scene like that without the twistedness of it all?! Urgh not fair. Oh well..
also for the peeps, its not rape in the given circumstances that Walker is demented as Brendan. He gets it now and sadly is losing his mind at the same time.
THAT. would. be. AMAZING
Aw, I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way.
Where are my fellow Astarion fans at? 🧛♂️👄
lol yes XD omgosh that would have been hilarious.
That will be interesting twist but I do not know if Walker will ever forgive Brendan for his brother condition.
He didn't kill the guy a certain vampire finished him off lol
exactly, I have no idea why either lol.
thats how I see it as well.
