What is it a British VC panel is able to do that the American VC finds so difficult to achieve? They don't talk over each other, they listen to each other, and they allow for silent pauses.

I like these guys. I agree, there is a panel called jazz bums. The group of 3 is fine, but they do a larger group that is nearly unlistenabled mainly due to one guest.

I've been saving this video until i had time to fully enjoy it and since its a holiday weekend on my side of the pond I was able to watch it today. Paul was such a great guest to have because he has great stories and loves the music! I enjoyed listening to "Brand New Cadillac", because prior to this I had only known the Clash's sub-par version, which i had never realized was sub-par until today. Cheers!

Wendell Austin's LSD is very much a reworking of the song Cocaine Blues, which was recorded in 1947 by Ray Hogsed as a rather jaunty Western Swing tune. But it's probably best known from the version Johnny Cash performed at the Folsom Prison gig.
Interestingly, Columbia didn't censor the song, unlike the recording of the song he made in 1960 on which they insisted on some rewrites and to change the song title to Transfusion Blues.
So while you might understand the original, "I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down", "I took a transfusion and I shot my woman down" is rather nonsensical.

I believe the follow up, which was partially recorded, was a victim to the international oil shortage in 1973 and wasn't released until after his death in 2003. The two albums he recorded in Italy are worth a listen as well.

Cyn is like the forgotten member of The Cramps who got kicked out of the band before they became famous because Lux and Ivy thought he was just a bit too sleazy for that band.
There’s another version of the Kent-Vicious incident that Vicious did it because Kent was beating up his girlfriend of the time. Who knows the truth of the lives of these unsavoury characters. Paul makes out Nick Kent to be a charming chap, but I think the truth is he was a pretty nasty bloke.
