      Aura Force I'm on a roll with the "easy teases", so it seems (ex: beginning of Memories Returned) >:3 I think you'd struggle with 12-15 more than with 17+ though -- the former you're juggling 4 voices, whereas the climax is just 3.

    aw, this reminded me of what really makes the mystery dungeon great. moments of charictor bonding like those with the amazing music the series is known for makes these games true masterpieces.

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      MrAppleSalad So true! I always liked to picture this song as the embodiment of the Partner's aspirations, rather than just an atmospheric BGM. It gives a glimpse of the inner strength within them (particular at the climax of the piece), something that just needs to be unlocked through the influence of you the Player. It's interesting to note that when this song plays during the Epilogue of the main story (shortly before the Memories Returned scene), only the first 4 measures of this song play. It's as if by losing you, the Partner has lost a piece of themselves (i.e. the rest of the song).

    Damn, you got me to tear up at that last part. It's really amazing how great this piece of art we call PMD2 is. Never in a million years would I think it could still have this kind of impact on me this many years later. Keep being amazing, Bespinben.

      BHawksFan01 Something that can endure the test of time, something that has value extending to later generations -- that's what a Classic is to me. Despite its cutesy exterior, PMD fits this definition all too well.

    I need to make a video of me playing this song. You see, my piano teacher since kindergarten passed away on New Year's Eve in a tragic and fatal car accident. She was eight months away from turning 80. I miss her every day and I'm close friends with one of her granddaughters. :(

    The feels in this one is really strong because this is where your partner meets you for the first time, and this is where we reunite at the "end". End, as in the credits were rolling, and the main story ends.

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I haven't played PMD2 since 2008 (well, doing a full run through that is) -- do you know if this piece plays anytime besides the prologue and epilogue? If it doesn't, that could really enhance the impact of this piece, having a *primacy-recency effect*

    • @Tyler_Kwak
      @Tyler_Kwak 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bespinben I think besides the prologue and epilogue, it plays during the time your partner and Grovyle sees the sun rising up, and then that song plays. That's all I know. So, Mathew Zang, you were somewhat right. We go back to our own timeline after escaping from the future from the Planet's Paralysis.

    • @Tyler_Kwak
      @Tyler_Kwak 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** OH MY GOD! I just had a crashing revelation!!! I knew, I KNEW that you and your partner both saw the sunset rising, but I forgot when it happened, until now! The other time this song is played was when you realize Darkrai is going to get rid of both you and your partner, and cause a huge distortion of the fabric of time and space! Earlier, he disguised himself as Creselia, the pokemon to bring peace and hope, telling you and your partner, IN YOUR DREAM, that traveling through time caused a distortion of the fabric of time and space. BUT, it was way smaller than minor damage, in fact, it didn't affect it at all! Then you realize it was all Darkrai's doing. He failed to cause the planet's paralysis by trying to destroy Temporal Tower, but failed. SO!!! The time the song plays again is when you and your partner saw the sun rising before you, your partner, and Creselia confronts Darkrai. I hope this opens your memory!

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** It would have been interesting to see Darkrai have some character development following his own poetically fitting acquisition of amnesia (yay for fanfics!) He just seemed too one-dimensional as the big-bad, which kinda contradicts one of the big themes of game that there really aren't any *truly* bad Pokémon (c.f. speech by Wigglytuff).

    • @mandl2710
      @mandl2710 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bespinben Honestly, I always compared Darkrai in PMD2 to either Evice or Greevil (but mostly Greevil). He corrupted a Legendary Pokemon as a bid for wreaking havoc in general (among other things), and something almost poetic happens to them at the end of their games' respective storylines (counting the Darkrai battle in PMD2 as the actual final boss).

    Aaah, I have very nostalgic memories...
    All of those happy moments accompanied with a surreal environment and highly emotional yet quiet music always triggered my emotions and made those moments so memorable. Almost as if they were events happening in my own life, and this arrangement was so well done that it gave me those happy emotions despite the lack of a scenario.
    ...and of course, don't forget the bubbles!

    • @Bespinben

      39legends I think part of the brilliance of Explorers was that even though, by nature of the plot, the player character *couldn't* be you, there was still a strong feeling that *you wanted it to be you*... and that's a beautiful thing.

    Wow! I really like this piece! Played on piano is even better than the regular one!
    The Italian caption should be 'tranquillo' (calm), not 'tranquilo' :)

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gabriele Bianchetti DuskPiano did a great job articulating the fine details of the arrangement, and I think that's the deciding factor of a good performance of a song like this that has such very repetitive harmony (Bb, Ebm6 --> etc. etc.).Two "l"s, you got me! I wasn't even trying to be poetic with the Tempo marking, and I still messed up :P

    • @Lewisfan1
      @Lewisfan1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kind of miss the poetic (I'd say: creative!) markings!
      Is 'tranquillo' a standard word in music (like, say, 'presto' or 'diminuendo')?

    Hey, great arrangement! I’m not much of a pianist (more of a woodwind guy, some brass too), so what do those dashed lines mean? The ones that connect the staffs (staves?).

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use dashed lines between staves to indicate how a voice should be divided between the two hands. The cross-stave beams also serve this purpose.

    Bespinben, is this in the same key the original song was in? It may just be me (I say that because I've not yet acquired the ability to Identify any note/key without reference), but it sounds spot on with the original piece.

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      39legends My arrangements technically fall better under the term "transcriptions", so yes, most if not all elements of the original I intend to recreate - (key, harmony, rhythms, texture, etc.). I do tend to get more creative though with heavily percussive pieces though (like GtI Stompstump Peak), which I use more of a liberal arranging approach to adapt to the piano.

    • @Grovyle90
      @Grovyle90 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bespinben
      That's awesome! It's hard for me to recreate pieces so accurately! Like said previously, I haven't yet acquired such skill. The closest thing to that which I can do is Identify intervals without point of reference. Do you reccomend any techniques to learn said skill. For intervals, I use familliar pieces to Identify (For example, Amazing grace for perfect 4th ascending).

    • @Bespinben
      @Bespinben  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      39legends It's always weird when someone poses the "learn by ear or by sheet" question to me, as I fit in neither category. "Learn by ear" seems to imply this superhuman ability to hear a song once or twice and then just ham it out with some liberal interpretation, and learn by sheet seems to imply lack of aural skills whatsoever (also not true). While I do have fairly decent relative and perfect pitch, more often than not, I'm just relying on tonal memory as I create my transcriptions -- I listen to a 3 second clip of the song I'm recreating *many* times to capture all it's component parts (melody, bass, harmony, moving inner voices, countermelodies, etc.), and whatever of these components I've isolated, I hum it back to myself and use a pitch reference to identify the pitches. This is the most efficient way for me to work, rather than waiting 10-20 seconds processing notes through my mental Perfect Pitch Processor (the PPP, I like to call it), by which time I might have already forgotten the passage I was humming.
