@@TheNightowlGaming In DW8 enemies can switch their weapons and you were frozen if they used mosou. The only ways to counter were if you were blocking or using your own mosou (which takes longer to build than in 7). You were pretty much f-ed if Lu Bu does the phantom halberd switch or does a mosou on you.
Bro everytime I get a friend to play DW I always tell them if you see lu bu you do not fight him he will literally fuck you up. I dont fight him so you dont fight him. But they always gotta see like he not that tough than one hit later game over like bro wtf did I just say lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 lu bu is the the best though lol.
Dong Zhuo and Yuan Shu probably shouldn't really be on this list simply because there is a huge difference between simply hating a character because they are a villain, versus hating them because they are a poorly written character.
@@sacredscars5758 Yeah, replace Yuan Shu and Dong Zhou with the honorable mentions and you have a perfect list of hated characters for the correct reasons.
To this day, I still find it funny how Ma Chao says he uses his spear for justice while committing war crimes, but it was common during that era, so I won't say much
They probably tried adding a few female characters every game because of those *cough* "priorities". That being said, its the Three Kingdoms era, none of the women were actually very notable. So the "lottery pool" or whatever decision making process ended up with "why are you even here" characters like Dong Bai and Xiahou Ji. (Even Xing Cai is a combination of multiple women) Which makes things worse for Shu because in actual history, Zhang Fei found out that she was from a good family and married her. (which pretty much means abducted and force a marriage either by rumors or rape. Whichever comes first) We can't have that since the entire "storytelling society of the Three Kingdoms era" in general insist on making Shu out to be the good guys.
@@PuchimonExtreme If they're gonna add female characters, atleast give us some that would bring new perspectives to the story. Duchess Cao Jie & Grand Princess Sun Luban would have been great.
The character actually has storytelling potential... it's just adding her when they have over other, more deserving characters is a bit questionable, and her character design and implementation is downright weird and gross.
@@creamychicken6144 Or the Bandit Sisters Cao Cao had to deal with. Could have easily finagled them into joining Cao Cao after losing to him (As is Cao Cao's way.) or one of the other 2 Kingdoms because fuck Cao Cao.
Nope not going for that! Shu was always my favorite and that punk ruined it! He’s 1 on my shit list🤣🤣 this brain damage is a new nugget of information though
@@gregharper6382 yeah after Zhao Yun rescued him as a baby Liu Bei threw the infant Liu Shan on the ground in anger and yelled at Zhao Yun for risking his life to rescue him

i hate Sun Quan, Cao Pi quote on him describe perfectly why: "It shames me to lose to a flip-flopping turncoat like you". I hate traitors, and Sun Quan is one of them
I hate Lu Meng in DW5 as a fighter, he is quite basic and boring as I hate all the leaders as Cao Cao fighting style for example, but because they just swing a sword and almost they share the same movements. But in story, they are all in between ok to great.
Wu has always been my least favorite. It’s Romance of the 2 kingdoms and here goes Wu switching sides and acting like they’re owed something. Failed at Hefei so many times and didn’t take advantage of Liu giving Cao so much trouble in Jing. They were still recovering from their loss at Han Zhong and were struggling at Fan castle. They probably would’ve been able to win at Hefei, take Shou Chun, and even a chunk of Xu Province.
I actually like Dong Bai, but it would have been better if say she was a antagonist for Lubu trying to avenge her grandfather, but due to her age she's blind to how tyrannical he actually was. And then half way into a Lubu story angle she would join him in the what if. Or possibly join cao cao to fight him. She has alot of potential just due to being Zhuos grand daughter.
For the record, Sima Yi also married Zhang Chunhua when she's like... 12-14. But take a look of how she is in DW. That means they could have done a Chunhua on Xiahouji and make her older, but they did NOT!
@@TheNightowlGaming though i checked and... Yeah, Chunhua is born in 189, the marriage happened at 202. Though it's modtly because of Sima Fang (Yi's father arranged it), so... It's not exactky Sima Yi's fault. Just how it is with arranged marriages.
When louis XVI married Marie Antoinette, they were 15 and 14, respectively. one has to understand people died quite young in the past, so they started to procreate early.
@@deadby15 Not sure when it was but attitudes changed, 18 for adulthood is a very modern way of thinking. It was mostly 12 in the ancient world. Goes for men and women, a 12 year old viking was an adult as long as he had completed the coming of age processes and so on.
@@JohnSmith-wo2fz A girl became a woman traditionally when she had her first period and could thus start to bear children. Usually around 12-14. Understandable when we were monkey people living on the veldt. A little less these days, lol.
In wrestling being hated is better than evoking no emotion from the audience.. we love to hate characters like Dong Zhuo,Zhang Jiao,Yuan Shao etc. it's better than characters like Bao Sanniang, Xiahou Ba, Guan Suo etc. who we just don't care about
I see a pro wrestling comment, I upvote. 😅 Heels (bad guys) are needed to make babyfaces (good guys) look good. That's why DW expanding the roster always (like AEW) doesn't make sense. Not every character has a Cody Rhodes fairytale. There are only these many tropes to recycle. That's why some of these "hated" characters appear. E.g. Lolli girls to hopefully appeal to even more audience. But, if done badly, they will turn loyal fans away instead. P.S. Bump for Liao Hua. His story would be awesome, IF DONE RIGHT. 😅
Xiahou Ba I think gets the award for the most botched character in the series. Even worse than Xu Zhu. In the books he has one of the most developed character arcs in the second half, and was an awesome badass. He should look like a younger Xiahou Dun... instead we get a whiny manlet. wtf... Plus, he should be part of the Shu kingdom and not Jin. It kinda makes zero sense. There's been some really dumb decisions from Koei/Omega Force in regards to Dynasty Warriors in general of late, hence why the series is in the gutter right now...
That is an excellent comparison. As much as I hate Roman as the "Tribal Cheif" character in WWE, it would be silly to deny the draw his dislike brings to the show.
Considering all of the women they’ve added to the game, I’m still puzzled as to why they don’t add in one woman from the actual story - Lady Wu aka Sun Jian’s wife and the mother of the Sun siblings. She actually has some big scenes in the book. 😁
the problem is the latest games pretty much kill Sun Jian off ASAP so they can then kill Sun CE and then have Sun Quan have second child inheriting issues.
Wu Guotai being missing is odd. Same thing with Cao Cao's wife Lady Bian, and Liu Bei's starter wives. Their omissions are kind of baffling, considering they're waifu's who actually existed and had relevance. But adding Wu Guotai would let them have that milf character archetype the series is missing, lol. Though really she should look more grandmotherly... though I suppose gilf's are a thing...
I will never hate xu zhu. Even if its not an accurate depiction i still love this man and for a good reason. The wei roaster is usually filled with stoic or cunning characters, but xu zhu is the least threatening looking of them. To me, that makes him stand out more and helps show that wei isn't all doom and gloom. Also, the club is not so bad. I've played worse weapons in this series.
In defense of Dong Bai. It's amazing and hilarious being bossed around by a goth loli gremlin. Plus, seeing her kill thousands is a blast. Also poor Guan Suo. He just can't find a place to belong
@@ShikiHisashi for sure, but it would be cool, of they kept her to maybe start that way, she escapes chang an after dong z dies and she grows up and goes to get revenge, thats be so much more interesting
DW8 Gan Ning|Also DW5 were best iteration IMO granted I only played a few..I have yet to play 9 since I wanted to platninum 8 first|at 77% currently an I am already dreading every Chaos map an all weaponry.
Liu Shan being hated at all is very pathetic. Instead of portraying him as a coward who just gave up in the first opportunity, Dynasty Warriors actually gives him some nuance by portraying him as someone who didn't want nor was prepared to have powers, as Liu Bei intended for the kingdom to be controlled by Zhuge Liang, but the latter insisted that the heir kept the kingdom, which led to an unprepared young man being forced into a role he couldn't fill.
What I'm getting from this Top 10 is nothing characters being added who doesn't brings anything to the story, characters who are ruined in a sense cause Japan likes to add quirks to characters, AND Japan culture being weird overthere having different laws on what they like so characters like XiahouJi somehow gets into the game. By votes no less
I'm not gonna lie my most hated character in all of the dynasty warriors games are the god damn archers, they are literally the bane of my existence in most of the games they do way to much damage, and they knock you off your horse so damn often when your trying to get somewhere fast, I just wanna burn them all anytime I see them.
This brought back memories of getting killed by archers constantly in DW4 and DW5 while running for your life, desperately looking for a health container.
I feel Dong Bai's design was to capitalize on Gracia's popularity. But Gracia was more likeable and the gothic Lolita look made some sense as she did convert to Christianity and took a western name.
@@TheNightowlGaming not much to her, the games don't go into her Christian conversion and instead treats her as a joke character. SW4 did age her up a bit and gave her a slightly more serious arc but she's still comically beating guys up with her bare fist. Probably one of the few characters to use bare fist before SW5 so she has that going for her.
My main problem with Xiahouji is that she is head over heels for Zhang Fei but historically she was most likely kidnapped by him. Some sources speculate that she might have been SA'ed by him, which makes me wonder why she was picked to be in the roster and depicted as a loving wife. She was the victim (at least of kidnapping). She shouldn't be depicted as this young girl to a guy that looks 40 years older than her. There were plenty of marvelous women from this period that still haven't made an appearance in this game. Why they have been passed up is a mystery to me. Ma Yunlu would have been my choice for a new female Shu character.
Times were different - just because she was kidnapped doesn't mean she can't be a loving wife. Choice of marriage/romance partners wasn't what it is today.
Holy crap I was playing DW4 while watching this and when you played the DW4 cutscene for Yuan Shao it actually lined up PERFECTLY with my game as I just started that cutscene
What they did to Hua Xiong just seems mean 😂 I think Dong Bai as a concept is cool, but I agree with you I’m just so sick of the creepy little girls. No more white haired emo girls either like come on now.
I also hate Dong Zhuo and Yuan Shu. In my opinion, if we put Dong Zhuo and Zhang Jiao in comparison, Dong Zhuo was far worse even though Zhang Jiao was the one that started the three kingdoms conflict. Although Zhang Jiao rebelled to the imperial Han, his rebellion was to replace the corrupt government for the betterment of the people who suffered under it. Unlike Dong Zhuo, who desires power and pleasure all to himself, ruled the government with cruelty and tyranny, brought harm and suffering to the people. He was a literal embodiment of greed. The same goes to Yuan Shu, he declared himself as emperor way too early. Even though the other warlords probably had the same ambition, but they still kept it to themselves because they felt grateful of the Han dynasty and ought to serve it to the very end. His actions only made him branded as traitor by the other warlords and he suffered massive losses because of it
Well sadly that's just how the real people were in real history, and I think that they are portrayed well in the games. Though I do tend to prefer the older designs for Dong Zhuo, the overly hog like design he has in the new games is a little too on the noise IMO.
Xu Zhu's problem isn't his club but his sheer speed. I have ZERO idea why Koei made him soo god damn fat that his speed is soo slow. His swings are slow, combos are slow and yes, the damage is high but it's just not worth it. Mid swing often sees you getting swiped by speedier generals and it's really NOT fun. Now Han Dang is interesting. Koei did take character liberties but for once, it IS actually really portrayed well with Han Dang's actual recorded behavior or, somewhat of a portrayal. Like many other Wu generals of the time with Sun Jian, they were nothing but mercenaries from the Jiangdong region who would serve lords that pays them well, Han Dang included. However unlike other Dongwu generals like Cheng Pu, Huang Gai so on, Han Dang was never officially inducted as a proper Wu officer till real late in his life and only when Sun Quan got into power and also after the whole battle of Chibi happened. It was only after he went with Lu Meng to claim Jingzhou that he got inducted into the official Wu generals group. That's why the portrayal in the game is actually quite good cuz that's how Han Dang is. Courageous but always wanted more so that he can officially be ranked as a proper Wu officer rather than being a mere junior officer despite fighting for the Sun clan for half his life.
thats amazing and a great backstory to the character but because none of the games focus on that (an origin so to speak) we only get the whiny annoying part but not understanding why, theres also ways to make it more grounded, but I do get it now that u explained it, ty!
I understand why Bao Sanniang is hated, one of the reason is she is a new characters in Dynasty Warriors 7 and she's not appear in game as allies or enemies (also Cai Wenji is the same, but not hated tho), there are a lot new Dynasty Warriors 7 characters that not playable but appear as allies or enemies like Lian Shi, Ding Feng, and Ma Dai and many other
I like Guo Huai. Guy gets kind of shafted though in his overly-sickly depiction, and the series lacking his other half in Chen Tai, and attributing a lot of his glory to other people in Jin who had nothing to do with his battles doesn't help either. (Looking at you Sima Shi, quit stealing all of Guo Huai's thunder! and Sima Zhao, quit stealing all of Deng Ai's while you're at it!) Xu Zhu was one of Wei's coolest characters in the book and historically, I have despised what DW did to him ever since his introduction. Dong Bai is just a walking talking trope, and that is her biggest issue. People don't want to see the domineering, hyper-competent 12 year old who looks like a 20 year old anime character in the game. Plus her addition over characters like Gao Shun, Yan Liang, Ji Ling, Wen Chou, or Li Ru is just plain stupid if they wanted a new Other character. Liu Shan's problem _is_ that he's portrayed too accurately. I mean, they have no qualms turning Xiahou Ba into a manlet, Xu Zhu into a joke and Wei Yan into a barbarian, but with Liu Shan they have to keep him historically accurate? Get rid of the nepo baby who just wants to play fortnight with Huang Hao energy and make him someone who wants to live up to his father's legacy, but doesn't know how, as Zhuge Liang too busy with the northern campaigns to help him. Make him at least striving to be great, not striving to be a NEET. "Who thought this was a good idea" Japan... all the weird character additions to DW are always because of Japan. Koei only listens to the Japanese fans for who to add, and the Japanese fans want waifu's, and have very different tastes. They're also the reason why we got Bao Sanniang, Guan Suo, Guan Yinping and Zhou Cang. As all are super popular in Japan.
I mean judging by what we can gather about Dong Bai in History she didn't even make it to her 14th birthday before being executed so while she could be older, just because we don't have anything concrete, it'd be similar to making Sun Ce a middle aged man. With that said I will take an much older version of her if she gets to appear past the 190's, it'd only make sense. EDIT: On a similar note, I understand why Xiahou Ji is here because it completes the Peach garden oath vs Cao/Xiahou triangle in terms of Rivalry and on paper that is awesome. The Issue is as said, she's looks too young for very little reason and it's really only hurting Zhang Fei's fictional portrayal, meanwhile this is doing very Little for Xiahou Yuan who's already beloved, Xiahou Ba also is missing interactions with her for whatever reason, She's really being misused to the point where it's an active detriment to the game. It's the issue with several of the Shu picks on this list but actually effecting things negatively.
For sure, I can understand the Dong Bai thing but still they developed a fictional DLC for her, they could make her a little older than the way she is & xiahouji is just a whole miss and a half
@The Nightowl Han Dang actually first appeared in Dynasty Warriors 2 as a Generic Elite Officer, Hua Xiong also first appeared in Dynasty Warriors 2 as a Generic Elite Officer, and Guan Suo.....same thing.
The hate aside, I have an easy solution to some of the characters mentioned in this list. But before I start, I just wanna say that I could care less about history accuracy and it's not why I got into the DW series. If I cared about history, I'd just go read a history book about the 3 kingdoms. Now with that out of the way let's start with Dong Bai. Dong Bai to me is an easy fix, just age her up to 20+ years old, make her extremely evil, as evil as Dong Zhuo or worse, give her a significant enough role, change her weapon into a whip (or whatever suits her aesthetic) and we have a character. Now for Bao Sanniang, another easy fix. Make her into a Bandit leader who leads her own gang. Let her have nothing to do with Shu until she meets Guan Suo and make her attempt to rob Guan Suo with her gang of bandits. Loses to Guan Suo but doesn't necessarily fall in love with him but instead admire him for being a strong warrior. Guan Suo recruit Bao Sanniang and her gang to Shu. Make her into a slightly smart character when it comes to ambush tactics because of her years of experience as a bandit. Now onto Xiahou Ji, age her up 40+ years old, a caring single mother to Xing Cai and make both of them unrelated to Zhang Fei and any of his children. Make her into a famous local Swordmaster who taught Xing Cai how to fight and be the one to enlist Xing Cai into Shu as an officer. I too am not a fan of removing characters, instead just change every aspect of a character and that'll be just fine. Love my ideas, hate my ideas, not historically accurate? I don't care, it's a video game that's loosely based on history with a bunch of fictional characters.
@@TheNightowlGaming Here's my take on it. It's not that they don't wanna fix it, it's more likely that they don't know how to fix it. The problem stems from them trying to mix in historically accurate elements into a world that's loosely based on the Three Kingdoms with fictional characters. I'm not saying it can't work but let's take Xiahou Ji for example, they want to include a historically accurate character for Zhang Fei and her children, but then they're too afraid to commit to the accurate part of her history (I don't think I have to elaborate further on her actual history) which is why we got this weird halfbaked character. It's like one of those phrases that goes "If you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one". They can't decide if they want to go full fictional or make it accurate and face a potential huge backlash because of you know why. Like I've said, it's not like it can't be done well, it's just the matter of execution and how it's presented to the audience. And if I'm going to be honest, they're not good at writing stories in general. The were some good storytelling here and there sure, but if you look at DW as a whole, most of them are pretty mid to bad to wtf. To me what really carried DW's stories up till now are the characters and the interaction that they have with each other, and some are very meaningful with important life lessons. I hope what I'm saying makes sense as I'm not the best at explaining these types of stuff very well.
yeah just age em up, it doesn‘t have to be historically accurate on ages when it isn‘t on sooo many other things. Can even keep their design philosophies and have them have the same style and weapons, just a reasonable age.
I wish they would do what they did for samurai warriors 5 and spirit of sanada by giving the characters age progression but for all the characters over time. At least an early mid and late life version based on wear they were in history at the time.
For Guan Suo to me it's a mix of how he is not a historical person, his main role is already filled by his brothers and his sister, and lastly just how him being added fits well into something about Shu that is annoying in general. There are a lot of people in Shu who truly should of been added to the games a while back but instead we keep getting people like Guan Suo, Zhou Cang and Bao Sanniang, who were not even real and don't add to the story. Just some people they could add are Wang Ping, Zhang Ni, Ma Zhong, Zhang Yi, Li Yan, Liao Hua, Jiang Wen, Fei Yi, Wu Yi, Wu Ben, Huang Quan and a few more. I don't hate Guan Suo myself, but he is a very good case for a very annoying thing about how Shu is treated in these games. So many characters don't add to the story, are not real in the first place and that last thing is made much more annoying by how their are a lot of important people with impressive records from Shu they could add.
reading this and so many others, I have a theory they went with these characters cause if they added people who actually did significant things it would make more work for them instead of adding someone fake and doing nothing with them
Heavy on Liao Hua. Like- my man is already there on Yellow Turban, uuuppp until Wu Zhang Plains. Yet KT only treats him as NPC for these 9 games?! *cmiiw Like- justice to my daddy~ 😢😢😢❤❤❤
I don't like fake characters being added to the franchise. It makes the Chinese history look bad. Because if you guys do not know this war actually happened a long time ago
Zhang Fei’s wife is the typical Asia video game/anime trope old looking dude with young looking girl that’s apparently 20+ years old but acts like a child
So Dong Bai, Xiahou Ji, Bao Sanniang are added just because they're female and they're trying to balance out the roster (or at least add female characters where they can), with not many more choices left before totally making things up. What's left? Sun Quan's mom/Sun Jian's wife Lady Wu - but are they going to make her an older lady or like a little girly girl. That would be weird, like how Xiahou JI is right now. There's the fictional Ma Yunlu (Ma Chao's sister) - or Lady Trieu (who they did add in RTK14 as a hidden-ish officer), or Lady Jia Nanfeng for Jin. Han Dang they actually reversed personalities, as in history it's recorded that he gave away credits in battle. Zhou Cang is just kind of weird with the speed thing but I did not play 9. Zhuge Dan had a lame weapon in 8 and he's portrayed pretty close to history as far as I can tell.
Cao cao's second wife bian shi would be a decent choice actually. Given how much power she holds even after cao cao' death and how much the wei kingdom respects her. There are many records of her being the mediator of multiple conflicts
Never assume they'll make the old woman an old woman. They had Himiko as a Dynasty Warriors option via her RTK appearances and they ended up making her young and girly in Warriors Orochi.
Me personally I love Yuan Shu, he’s pretty notable to the story, his design is DAZZLING ✨ and he’s great counterpart to his brother, Yuan Shao. (Plus his massive arrogance is funny with the honey water.)
Had to agree that xiahouji should be aged up much much more. She could be the somber female character in the shu roster. A victim of circumstances that accepted her fate and is trying to make best of her situation, trying to look positive but have a melancholy feeling to it. Not this. It's bad enough that us fans in asia openly joked alot that zhang fei is a pedo, but now koei is nailing that concept in to even more people.
Xu chu is a beast if used correctly and essentially was who helped get my sister into the games because she developed a huge crush on him ,why ? Idk but the guy is ok in my book for bringing us together to play dynasty warriors and warriors orochi
Not that I actually like Liu Shan, but I feel like his surrender of Shu was the right thing to do. Shu was majorly on the decline, so continuing to fight is just prolonging suffering for everyone.
For me its Cao Cao him massacuring the population of Xu province not once but twice and when he's questioned about it by his own people he threatens them with death if they dont stop talking about it. He also overworked the farmers in Jing province to the point of rebellion which is why Guan Yu went to Fan Castle when he did. Cao Ren would put down the farmers and kill the families of everyone involved which caused the entire population to go into hiding. Gonsun Zan: He killed honestly the most kindest character in the historical time period in Liu Yu who lead an army consisting of just ordinary people to put down Gonsun Zan as he was doing awful things but gave the people the stipulations that nobody could set fire to anything or loot or pillage anything. Yuan Shao wanted to install Liu Yu as emperior but Liu Yu turned down the offer several times being loyal to the current emperor.
I was expecting to see Zuo Ci and Lianshi in this list, Zuo Ci was added to test the next generation i.e. Sun Ce and Cao Pi but was very ineffective and just a reason to add more stages to fight on. and lianshi is so bland that her whole personality is Sun ShangXiang's bodyguard at first then with no warning turns into Sun Quan's wife, which is historically accurate but in the games she has been in, it always felt like they didn't show any of the romance of it and it felt added on as an afterthought unlike the other Wu couples (Xiao sisters and Sun Ce and Zhou Yu) or ever Cao Pi and Zhenji, even Diaochan and Dong Zhuo gets more screen time as a couple.
still can't accept the fact they chose zhou chang over liao hua, since liao hua have more significant role in later shu, as he's been with shu from the rise of kingdom from 221 and to it's demise in 263 and have a potential role as the narrator for shu kingdom. and yet, they chose zhou cang, unbelievable, simply unbelievable
Ngl. I forgot about Han Dang until his face appeared. He told me to not forget about him so much that I actually straight up forgot about him. Also I actually like Dong Zhuo. Of the like to hate variety.
They did Han Dang very dirty with how they portray the personality that I feel like I preferred him more as the generic officer instead of unique. Honestly I'm not that bothered with the whole fictional character inclusion since as you said, this game is not strictly based on history. But what I'm bothered more is that these characters are shallow, one-dimensional personality. They have much more liberty with the more fictional character, yet they don't expand it.
Mmm I think most of them got better looks wise, maybe gameplay, but story wise besides like DOng and Shan, they didnt improve so they just end up being there to be there which hurt them
Honorable mention: Yuan Shao It feels like he's more annoying than hated. I really love and respected him in DW3-5, before Koei decided to changed him in *WHOLE* new character direction in later games. I know the dude was supposed to be an arrogant overconfident general/commander, but now he's a whiny B&$%# that complains about everything!
With Yuan Shu added imo they should change Yuan Shao back to being similar to his DW3-5 self. Not exactly competent and a bit foolish but also not the overly dumb, arrogant guy he is now since Yuan Shu can fill that role better
Hua Xiong should have been a playable character though, he was meant to be one of the strongest warriors under dong zhuo (along with Lu Bu and Zhang Liao) the only reason he died was because he fought Guan Yu and Guan Yu is much more powerful. the problem was Hua Xiong shoudn't have had a hammer as a weapon...he never did in the other versions of the game. there was even an interview about problems in the later DW games and this was raised as one of them...a lot of people though Hua Xiong's weapon was very innacurate to his play style.
Han Dang: "please don't forget about me" Me: pal, the fact that you are the only one that worry about being forgotten makes you hard to be not remembered. Altho, I will remember you as one of the most annoying, tho"
Nearly Every character I agree, except Liu Shan. People really disrespect him in the novel and the game. He was quite smart, and the fact that people portrait him like he didnt care of his country at all was due to the speech he said when he was captured and held as hostage in the palaced. When he was asked by the king of wei "Dont you feel sad about the loss of shu?" He answered "Love the place here, no need to think back". What do u want him to say? If he says he felt sad, it means he stilm had ambition and most likely be killed
My most hated character in Dynasty warriors are Zhuge Liang and Guan Yu. The reason of my hate is these two are a big reason of why Wu betraying in Fan Castle (yes, there are a lot of reasons, but these 2 are the big ones). This is covered in Dynasty Warriors 7 and 8 (don't play 9) from Wu perspective, cuz in Shu perspective Wu betraying Shu for stupid or no reason. And my other character that i hate is Zhang Bao because his moveset SUCKS (Dynasty Warriors 8 specifically)
I don't get the Xu Zhu and Hua Xiong hate, tbh. Xu Zhu is just an innocent and child-like big tiger and Hua Xiong just fulfilled his role as an obstacle before reaching Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo at Hulao gate Fixable character from this list: - Han Dang: his personality. His weapon choice is already perfect - Zhuge Dan: his personality. I like his DW8 weapon, tbh. - Dong Bai: her age and character background. That's it. - Xiahouji: her character interaction and age. In case they didn't fix her, just delete her from entire existence of DW games. I don't like roster cut just DW6 did to several characters, but for I'm gonna make an exception for Xiahouji. Ma Chao and Zhang Fei should be added to the list, tbh
@@TheNightowlGaming I'll be honest. In my opinion, dynasty warriors has never done a good job of giving their characters a personality beyond a single trait or objective. Lubu is just an unstoppable killer, Dong Zhuo is just a corrupt ass, Nearly all the women only care about their husbands, etc. Dynasty warriors doesn't offer much space for characters to expand, and you only know what the characters straight up say about themselves. Or how the characters react to each other, albeit briefly. Guan Suo is just a more gentle dude, a type well represented in the female population of this game but he's the only one as far as males are considered. As far as what characters are popular, I have no idea why certain ones are beyond how their movesets feel. Like, Lubu is only considered bad ass and scary because he tells us he is, he gets folded every time. Yet he's one of, if not the most popular and iconic character in the franchise. But that is his entire personality. I'm a big guy and I'm scary. Somehow, that's considered more fleshed out than other characters? Idk.
Funny, i thought Jiang Wei would be in the list, i dont hate the character in fact I think he is cool and i like his battle style in 8, but the fact he was supposse to be succesor of Zhuge Liang failing so miserably and that in Jin story he is a real pain in the ass having to battle him in almost every stage make him worthy of being hated
IMO Dong Bai is one of the most 'unique' designs in the recent games, she's a brat goth kid and it felt fresh to see a design like this in DW. She's funny, she gives yas queen slay vibes, she might not be the best personality-wise but her design is iconic af.
Dong Bai chaining up Diao Chan and teasing her definitely showed my corrupt brain... Her weapon is meh. The fictional story mode in DW9 was actually the most enjoyment I got out at the game... Yeah that says it all I guess about that game...
@@TheNightowlGaming it was something different, made a change someone hunting Lu Bu rather than the other way around. Bet all the lolicons loved it.... 😳 I was just got I didn't have to do battle of Chi Bo for the 20th time in DW9... Every damn story mode
I hate Wei Yan. The “me… talk… bad” is just so annoying and what is worse is that it kills a really interesting moveset in so many of the games. Like it’s just such a flat characterisation where they could have made him interesting. And it’s made worse because people seem to like him, so his rebellion at Wu Zhang always gets downplayed as well, which I think is his most interesting plot point. I want a complex character with an interesting ending of being killed by Ma Dai! Maybe he believed in benevolence but after Liu Bei’s death he becomes disillusioned and sees how Zhuge Liang drags on the war, which harms the people. A quick end is what is needed. Then when Zhuge Liang is dying and Jiang Wei refuses to give up at Wu Zhang, that is when Wei Yan finally breaks. That way it is a prelude for Liu Shan’s eventual surrender too!
I actually love Xiahouji. Her character design is adorable, the move set is fun, and that shield with the bunny is the cutest thing ever. I just wish the design was used for an entirely different character. Perhaps I like her because I primarily played DW9E and didn't make it far enough into DW9 to view her icky cut scenes. Just port her design to someone's grandchild and call it a day. The Bao Sanniang hate is WILD to me. Who cares if she's just there and not fully developed. You can't fully develop ~100 characters and have all of them have any real significance. The spinner was enough reason to add her-hands down one of my favorite weapons.
I meannnn you can develop them, if the developers had enough passion to do so! If you add ppl they must be significant otherwise they're just there to play & that does a disservice to other characters who did something in the book/history and are being left out
A first I didn’t like Liu Shan, but (I forget his channel now) a TH-camr said something that changed my mind on him. He saw a chance to bring peace to the land he governed and that if he really wanted to see the land in peace and the people to see an end to a drown out war, the best way to stop a war is to drop your sword first
I was surprised how much I liked Shan. Likely due to being voiced by Steve Staley in 7 & 8 (I find myself liking characters that I shouldn’t because of how well voiced they are haha)
@@NoelJohnCarloI’m not familiar with the Japanese voice cast. Mainly the English voice cast from 6-8. Played 9 with the mandarin dub, because the new VAs were terrible haha
I think I'd like to see how Dynasty Warriors's story getting influence more and more by The Ravages of Time. Hope they will not only added characters but more depth to each of their stories. Because I remember that I love the dialogue when Chen Gong and Lu Bu got executed a lot, it's so similar to that story.
Man, you know historical Dong Zhou was actually pretty cool in his youth, he sure got a lot of negative propaganda from historians (but there has to be Truth to it 😅)
Though I feel KT just can't make Shu have some gray area because they are like Cultural Icons of China. They were always the heroes and the good guys because the Zhuge Liang fanboy writer said so. Thus they tend to whitewash a lot of characters to not have gray sides (for example... Guan Suo had a HUGE Vendetta against Wu in his story to the point of killing Lu Xun and Lu Meng and basically ate them in front of Guan Yu's grave). Fa Zheng was probably the only person who KT allows to be villainous, but he ends up as a weird-ass thirst trap evil sexy man by the time of 9 Mobile and Empires which.... yeah.
@wedakrishna1069 not really biased in favor of Wei but more kind since say DW6 when they redid Cao Cao’s character in some pretty big ways. He was much more of an obvious bad guy before then. Now Wei as a whole is much more complex and easy to like. Seems clear there have been a few changes over the years to how people running Koei want to tell the stories.
@@wedakrishna1069 tbh Wei's is more complex now because KT decided to fuse their historical good sides with the ROTK's bad sides which made Cao Cao and his cret well written by DW6 onwards. It helped that they added Guo Jia God Mode for the Otome fangirls
Jeeez thatd be cool to see that from Guan Suo, not the whole eating thing but that raging vengeance going down a darker path and having moments that consume him, that's an interesting character hopefully they build upon and develop these characters & yeah fa zheng makes no sense to me
@@TheNightowlGaming ngl Yiling would have been a grest turning point for some of the Peachspawns to get angry at Wu and have Guan Suo start his angry vengeful arc since Guan Xing is too calm and Guan Yinping is a waifu so she aint allowed to get angry. Not in the DW games (I think?) But Hu Chi Er gets automatically executed in Romance. Idk what it is about him. The low stats or stupid picture but I automatically execute when I capture him lol I cant explain why either.
Starting to notice most of the characters.you question being in the game happen to be lifted from the closed game Dynasty Warriors Blast including Dong Bai.
Man I was obsessed with Dynasty Warriors 1 , 2 and 3 Xiahou Yuan and Zhang Liao where my dudes. Holy crap though I had no clue we have come this far in Dynasty Warriors I never knew that had more games come out in all this time. Going to have to pick a few of them up any suggestions ?
Kind of same here but I been keeping track and they lost me at 5 with the goofy personalities (Zhang He), weapons that made no sense, and butcher of historical characters. This video only tells me I made the right choice of leaving. The game looks like chaos even outside of the characters he showed. LuBu not using his famous halberd and oh yea more lil girls or just more unnecessary female characters in general 🙄. I switched over to Romance of the three kingdoms for more accuracy and found other historical beat them up that didn’t make history/ancient warfare into a circus show 🤡.
if you havent played dw5 & you loved the first 3, you'll love it, DW8XLCE is great too, a little over the top as the gameplay became more anime esque but a ton of content and new characaters
Honorable mention: Lu Bu
Not because his design is hated. He just brings PTSD in fighting him in every DW game excluding 9
Hes definitely not hated lol, people love him!
fr fr, i played DW6 and that objective of beating Lu Bu at Battle of Hu Lao Gate is a nightmare
@@TheNightowlGaming In DW8 enemies can switch their weapons and you were frozen if they used mosou. The only ways to counter were if you were blocking or using your own mosou (which takes longer to build than in 7). Dong Zhuo and Yuan Shu probably shouldn't really be on this list simply because there is a huge difference between simply hating a character because they are a villain, versus hating them because they are a poorly written character.
For sure! but still with the polls and people knowing they did drop them down there, so I had to include, but I totally get what you mean

Zhang Fei literally don't need romance in his character, he already have good enough dynamics others character like his brothers and Xing Cai
Even still if he does just make it more appropriate..
(Even Xing Cai is a combination of multiple women)
Which makes things worse for Shu because in actual history, Zhang Fei found out that she was from a good family and married her. (which pretty much means abducted and force a marriage either by rumors or rape. Whichever comes first)
We can't have that since the entire "storytelling society of the Three Kingdoms era" in general insist on making Shu out to be the good guys.
@@PuchimonExtreme If they're gonna add female characters, atleast give us some that would bring new perspectives to the story. Duchess Cao Jie & Grand Princess Sun Luban would have been great.

@@cyberrodrigothe leaders got more distinct fighting styles in 8, at least. Lu Meng has always been pretty boring like you said

I actually like Dong Bai, but it would have been better if say she was a antagonist for Lubu trying to avenge her grandfather, but due to her age she's blind to how tyrannical he actually was.
@@planescaped DW needs to make two skins for characters like Xiahou Ba, Sun Quan etc. one young age version and one older age version..

Considering all of the women they’ve added to the game, I’m still puzzled as to why they don’t add in one woman from the actual story - Lady Wu aka Sun Jian’s wife and the mother of the Sun siblings. She actually has some big scenes in the book.

He was peak Gan Ning in 4
I think KOEIs weapons + personalities that they attach towards a character matters so much cuz this list is wild haha
Wild yes, but accurate and makes sense absolutely!
Liu Shan being hated at all is very pathetic. Instead of portraying him as a coward who just gave up in the first opportunity, Dynasty Warriors actually gives him some nuance by portraying him as someone who didn't want nor was prepared to have powers, as Liu Bei intended for the kingdom to be controlled by Zhuge Liang, but the latter insisted that the heir kept the kingdom, which led to an unprepared young man being forced into a role he couldn't fill.
a great POV story could be made from Liu Shan as a kid showing signs of not wanting to grow up and be the emperor, that'd be awesoe
By votes no less
thats what I heard too.. but still KT gets final say and they still think.. yeah thats a good idea..
😅
I think we can all agree on that one 🍻
This brought back memories of getting killed by archers constantly in DW4 and DW5 while running for your life, desperately looking for a health container.
I feel Dong Bai's design was to capitalize on Gracia's popularity. But Gracia was more likeable and the gothic Lolita look made some sense as she did convert to Christianity and took a western name.
Oh yeah, I just got introduced to Gracia, dont know much about her
@@TheNightowlGaming not much to her, the games don't go into her Christian conversion and instead treats her as a joke character.
Ma Yunlu would have been my choice for a new female Shu character.
some many better choices, but if they were gonna go w ji they shouldve made her more appropriate..
LOL Lets go!!
What they did to Hua Xiong just seems mean 😂 I think Dong Bai as a concept is cool, but I agree with you I’m just so sick of the creepy little girls. No more white haired emo girls either like come on now.
100% agree on both, they just need some changes
His actions only made him branded as traitor by the other warlords and he suffered massive losses because of it
100% they serve their parts well and it makes sense they're here
One wanted to cleanse the corruption....the other wanted the corrupted to stay in power because he too was corrupted
Zhang Jiao (and technically Liu Shan) was probably the only "good guy" in the whole war. Everyone else were probably hypocrites or assholes.
Well sadly that's just how the real people were in real history, and I think that they are portrayed well in the games. Though I do tend to prefer the older designs for Dong Zhuo, the overly hog like design he has in the new games is a little too on the noise IMO.
That's hate in a narrative sense, the list is more of hate in a character sense. Either for being crappy or boring characters or weird additions.
Courageous but always wanted more so that he can officially be ranked as a proper Wu officer rather than being a mere junior officer despite fighting for the Sun clan for half his life.
thats amazing and a great backstory to the character but because none of the games focus on that (an origin so to speak) we only get the whiny annoying part but not understanding why, theres also ways to make it more grounded, but I do get it now that u explained it, ty!
i’m sick and tired of the hua xiong disrespect.
I actually really liked his design 😅
Thats rough buddy
I'm tired of the club.
I understand why Bao Sanniang is hated, one of the reason is she is a new characters in Dynasty Warriors 7 and she's not appear in game as allies or enemies (also Cai Wenji is the same, but not hated tho), there are a lot new Dynasty Warriors 7 characters that not playable but appear as allies or enemies like Lian Shi, Ding Feng, and Ma Dai and many other
makes sense, just wish they gave her some depth
I like Guo Huai. Guy gets kind of shafted though in his overly-sickly depiction, and the series lacking his other half in Chen Tai, and attributing a lot of his glory to other people in Jin who had nothing to do with his battles doesn't help either. (Looking at you Sima Shi, quit stealing all of Guo Huai's thunder! and Sima Zhao, quit stealing all of Deng Ai's while you're at it!)
Xu Zhu was one of Wei's coolest characters in the book and historically, I have despised what DW did to him ever since his introduction.
"Who thought this was a good idea"
Japan... all the weird character additions to DW are always because of Japan. Koei only listens to the Japanese fans for who to add, and the Japanese fans want waifu's, and have very different tastes. They're also the reason why we got Bao Sanniang, Guan Suo, Guan Yinping and Zhou Cang. As all are super popular in Japan.
I agree with you on pretty much all points, sad they only consider the interesting choices of the Japanese fans
You could just go "We pretended to Execute her so people wouldn't hound us.", give her a mask, and have her work for Wei.
Bam, problem solved.
@The Nightowl Han Dang actually first appeared in Dynasty Warriors 2 as a Generic Elite Officer, Hua Xiong also first appeared in Dynasty Warriors 2 as a Generic Elite Officer, and Guan Suo.....same thing.
Han Dang was first playable in 4 Empires, and I think Hua Xiong was first playable in 5 Empires. Don't know about Guan Suo.
Well yee, but as playable characters they appeared in their respective games, I think han dang was more respectable as an NPC lol thats the issue
The ideas are pretty cool, defintely an improvement and thats just surface level, so many easy fixes they just dont want to for some reason
At least an early mid and late life version based on wear they were in history at the time.
.....There's already a Female Bandit leader in the Novels though.
She's a Faction Leader in 3 Kingdoms: Total War even.
Now. I will say something that will be unpopular. Liu Shan is one of my top 3 characters in the game.

*cmiiw
Like- justice to my daddy~ 😢😢😢❤❤❤
@@deefraux4012 Yeah it's kinda fucked up a dude who was present for pretty much the whole damn timeline still isn't playable.
Enjoyed the video! Hope we can get a Samurai Warriors version in the future :D
Absolutely, really need to get on learning about them deep enough to make em!
I think some of the characters are added in from Legend of Condor Hero. The story kind of ties with Romance of the Three Kingdoms
I heard they were from DW Blast as well
I don't like fake characters being added to the franchise. It makes the Chinese history look bad. Because if you guys do not know this war actually happened a long time ago
true, but it is a fictional game, so fictional elements arent bad they just need to be done right
Zhang Fei’s wife is the typical Asia video game/anime trope old looking dude with young looking girl that’s apparently 20+ years old but acts like a child
Yeesh don't know if they wanna stick with that trope moving forward
Zhuge Dan had a lame weapon in 8 and he's portrayed pretty close to history as far as I can tell.
the women need more depth thats all, zhenji, zhurong ssx yueying are great
Cao cao's second wife bian shi would be a decent choice actually. Given how much power she holds even after cao cao' death and how much the wei kingdom respects her. There are many records of her being the mediator of multiple conflicts
@@yangyichng5362 Lady Bian would be dope, maybe they're afraid of her taking spotlight from Cao Cao
Never assume they'll make the old woman an old woman. They had Himiko as a Dynasty Warriors option via her RTK appearances and they ended up making her young and girly in Warriors Orochi.
My boie Liu Shan threw his dad's empire into the ground like his dad threw his head into the ground as a baby
lmao revenge? hah
Me personally I love Yuan Shu, he’s pretty notable to the story, his design is DAZZLING ✨ and he’s great counterpart to his brother, Yuan Shao. (Plus his massive arrogance is funny with the honey water.)
Lol and thats totally fine!
Yeah it was a weird move.. hopefully it gets rectified
Xu chu is a beast if used correctly and essentially was who helped get my sister into the games because she developed a huge crush on him ,why ? Idk but the guy is ok in my book for bringing us together to play dynasty warriors and warriors orochi
thats an awesome story, hes great in the novel too
Even though I like Zhou Cang just because he's an exclusive from Warriors All-Stars. I agree with you, should have been Liao Hua.
Exactly!
Not that I actually like Liu Shan, but I feel like his surrender of Shu was the right thing to do. Shu was majorly on the decline, so continuing to fight is just prolonging suffering for everyone.
for sure
The Sima Udder Cameo…😂
👀😁
That makes sense, everyone has their personal hates, and thats totall y fine!
I was expecting to see Zuo Ci and Lianshi in this list, Zuo Ci was added to test the next generation i.e. Sun Ce and Cao Pi but was very ineffective and just a reason to add more stages to fight on. and lianshi is so bland that her whole personality is Sun ShangXiang's bodyguard at first then with no warning turns into Sun Quan's wife, which is historically accurate but in the games she has been in, it always felt like they didn't show any of the romance of it and it felt added on as an afterthought unlike the other Wu couples (Xiao sisters and Sun Ce and Zhou Yu) or ever Cao Pi and Zhenji, even Diaochan and Dong Zhuo gets more screen time as a couple.
interesting takes, they were more liked than you think!
Hua Xiong was someone I was excited to play as, especially after the what if route for Lu bu back in 7 or 8 where he saves the day
he was great in 8, they shouldve just kept him similar to that..
Why do ppl hate Han Dang tho bro was there since yellow turbans
Look at him! Haha in game iteration does not help him
Happy to see my boy Zhong Hui not on here.
(I only realized half way through that I already watched the other full video, so should have known.)
Zhong Hui is that guy💪
LOL yup!
Man I actually like Zhuge Dan, he’s got that strict personality that matches his moveset very well imo
and theres nothing wrong with that! I think he's well built, I personally dont like hiim either haha
still can't accept the fact they chose zhou chang over liao hua, since liao hua have more significant role in later shu, as he's been with shu from the rise of kingdom from 221 and to it's demise in 263 and have a potential role as the narrator for shu kingdom. and yet, they chose zhou cang, unbelievable, simply unbelievable
that would be a dope role for Liao Hua they can do alot with him, but that would also require a lot of work, something they might be avoiding.. 👀
Ngl. I forgot about Han Dang until his face appeared. He told me to not forget about him so much that I actually straight up forgot about him.
Also I actually like Dong Zhuo. Of the like to hate variety.
Yeha that make sense for Dong Zhuo & a lot of people seem to share the sentiment of forgetting the person who doesnt want to be forgotten LOL
It's even so long since I seen anything dynasty worrier related
Well welcome from your hiatus, hope you enjoyed it!
Exactly! They can do whatever they want to add more to them, but just got lazy
can you make a video about the most known characters regardless if they are hated or loved by the community?
Hmmm most known by the communit I think i know what you mean!
Glad jiang wei is not on the least . I fell bad for him what happand later on for shu .
He definitely tried hard Late Shu
Curious if you think there are any character who got better or worse after their initial introduction.
Mmm I think most of them got better looks wise, maybe gameplay, but story wise besides like DOng and Shan, they didnt improve so they just end up being there to be there which hurt them
@@TheNightowlGaming i think origins would be a good time for them to really revamp the more problematic or bad characters. Soft reboot, in some ways.
@@EricDragon08 yeah absolutely
Honorable mention: Yuan Shao
It feels like he's more annoying than hated. I really love and respected him in DW3-5, before Koei decided to changed him in *WHOLE* new character direction in later games. I know the dude was supposed to be an arrogant overconfident general/commander, but now he's a whiny B&$%# that complains about everything!
@@ValorOni can't help but agree
His iteration in 8xl was good he should've been like that
@@TheNightowlGaming and yet the hammer didn;t suit him...he should have had a spear or glaive

Letsss go under 1 minute gang again 😂🎉
LOL I went to sleep right away, so I didnt even see it till now lol
Han Dang: "please don't forget about me"
Me: pal, the fact that you are the only one that worry about being forgotten makes you hard to be not remembered. Altho, I will remember you as one of the most annoying, tho"
thats how he gets us lol
Han dang one of the only not twink looking male and he acts like this ugh lol
LOL right! They could've made em so badass, but nope..
So many bad characters added in 8 & 9. They had so many opportunities to add better characters and chose these.
@@TylerG60 even still, they could add em and still have them be interesting but the problem is they don't do dat
If he says he felt sad, it means he stilm had ambition and most likely be killed
yeah i could see that or he actually meant it, the first step to true peace and unification
Number 7: I’ve never felt so humiliated 😂😂😂
Number 4: Aw this is really bad. ☠️☠️☠️
I like these comments 😂
Haha glad yo uenjoyed it!
i'm agree 100% the level 1 the most characters in dynasty warriors is xiahouji like omg why she is in the game it blow my mind HOW
Yep!
And my other character that i hate is Zhang Bao because his moveset SUCKS (Dynasty Warriors 8 specifically)
that makes sense!
Dong Bai: Somebody watched Kill Bill too many times, but wanted the school girl chick to be blond.
I don't get the Xu Zhu and Hua Xiong hate, tbh. Xu Zhu is just an innocent and child-like big tiger and Hua Xiong just fulfilled his role as an obstacle before reaching Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo at Hulao gate
Fixable character from this list:
- Han Dang: his personality. His weapon choice is already perfect
- Zhuge Dan: his personality.
Chao & Fei are among the most popular & yeah I understand I think their representations hurt them
I love playing Dong Zhuo. Unlike the other warlords, he is transparent about who he is and what he wants. Plus I love irredeemable villains.
He was built to be hated, gotta respec that
Justice for Guan Suo, he's one of my favorite male characters and gives diversity to the male archetypes present in the game.
he needs more development, its cool to see him getting some love though
Idk.
Funny, i thought Jiang Wei would be in the list, i dont hate the character in fact I think he is cool and i like his battle style in 8, but the fact he was supposse to be succesor of Zhuge Liang failing so miserably and that in Jin story he is a real pain in the ass having to battle him in almost every stage make him worthy of being hated
for sure definitely became more passionate in 7 and 8, his moveset is one of my faves
IMO Dong Bai is one of the most 'unique' designs in the recent games, she's a brat goth kid and it felt fresh to see a design like this in DW. She's funny, she gives yas queen slay vibes, she might not be the best personality-wise but her design is iconic af.
she needs more significance
Dong Bai chaining up Diao Chan and teasing her definitely showed my corrupt brain...
Her weapon is meh. The fictional story mode in DW9 was actually the most enjoyment I got out at the game... Yeah that says it all I guess about that game...
Yeah they just to make her more significant and explain whys shes there just made no sense
@@TheNightowlGaming it was something different, made a change someone hunting Lu Bu rather than the other way around.
Bet all the lolicons loved it.... 😳
I was just got I didn't have to do battle of Chi Bo for the 20th time in DW9... Every damn story mode
Personally I liked Bao Sannigan, or as me and my friends would call her, Bao Shenanigans :P
Lol shea aiight needs more depth
Thats be dope for sure, give him a nice backstory and finish up w a clean ending
Did they ever make SHAMOKE the guy who killed Gonening.
Uhh I think in dw7 for sure
... Isn't this an old video? Reuploaded?
Nope! Old video, redone and much more accurate!
If you add ppl they must be significant otherwise they're just there to play & that does a disservice to other characters who did something in the book/history and are being left out
i do not understand why han sui is not an made officer yet
Tru he'd be cool
A first I didn’t like Liu Shan, but (I forget his channel now) a TH-camr said something that changed my mind on him. He saw a chance to bring peace to the land he governed and that if he really wanted to see the land in peace and the people to see an end to a drown out war, the best way to stop a war is to drop your sword first
probably top 10 dynasty warriros characters from fiery jokers channel? I forget his name
actually i don’t really care about han dang, but his speech to sun quan before his death in DW9 hit my heart 😢
it was so great in DW9, then he just flops down...
This Han Dang hate needs to stop 😭 I adore him as he is ❤️
Liu Shan is amazing too 😢💚…
I was surprised how much I liked Shan. Likely due to being voiced by Steve Staley in 7 & 8 (I find myself liking characters that I shouldn’t because of how well voiced they are haha)

I think I'd like to see how Dynasty Warriors's story getting influence more and more by The Ravages of Time.
Hope they will not only added characters but more depth to each of their stories. Because I remember that I love the dialogue when Chen Gong and Lu Bu got executed a lot, it's so similar to that story.
character depth would be amazing
Isn't Guan Suo mentioned in the build up to the Naman campaign in the book...?
Idk about the build up, but in the book he's part of the campaign yes

Man, you know historical Dong Zhou was actually pretty cool in his youth, he sure got a lot of negative propaganda from historians (but there has to be Truth to it 😅)
Lol definitely was probably more evil than good lol
@TheNightowlGaming probably, but I recall he was also quite badass as a cavalry commander or something 🤷
bruh Xiahouji is literally one of my top 3. wtf
and thats ok! she just needs a little adjustment 😁
Bao Sanniang was first introduced in the Kessen 2 series. She was a member of shu and also a childhood friend of Liu Bei .
Thats mei sanniang but i get where u were going😁
Thank God none of my favorite Dynasty Warriors characters cracked this top 10 list.
Nice 😎
I loveeeee Dong Bai
and thats ok!
Picking your guy in Dynasty Warriors isn't about the story or the look of a character as much as it's about how easily you can use their attacks.
can totally agree
Though I feel KT just can't make Shu have some gray area because they are like Cultural Icons of China. They were always the heroes and the good guys because the Zhuge Liang fanboy writer said so. Thus they tend to whitewash a lot of characters to not have gray sides (for example... Guan Suo had a HUGE Vendetta against Wu in his story to the point of killing Lu Xun and Lu Meng and basically ate them in front of Guan Yu's grave). Fa Zheng was probably the only person who KT allows to be villainous, but he ends up as a weird-ass thirst trap evil sexy man by the time of 9 Mobile and Empires which.... yeah.
Hmmmm...KT is Wei biased though iirc
But I guess Liu Bei gave them a lot of Xanax since its his anger and anger alone that is more important
Not in the DW games (I think?) But Hu Chi Er gets automatically executed in Romance. Idk what it is about him. The low stats or stupid picture but I automatically execute when I capture him lol I cant explain why either.
haha nice
Starting to notice most of the characters.you question being in the game happen to be lifted from the closed game Dynasty Warriors Blast including Dong Bai.
some of them shoudl;ve stayed over there lol
Zhang Fei actually kidnapped Xiahouji (Lady Shi) at 13-14. Which makes it more understandable why she was added. But that's just me.
they just need to change everything about her
Man I was obsessed with Dynasty Warriors 1 , 2 and 3 Xiahou Yuan and Zhang Liao where my dudes.
