Hi! Here are some non-fiction recommendations for you: Amphibious Soul by Craig Foster and Vanishing Treasures by Kathrine Rundell (since you love Sy Montgomery I'm sure you'll love these), Soundtrack of Silence by Matt Hey a memoir of his journey dealing with losing his hearing, and the one I am currently reading The Bookshop; History of The American Bookstore which reflects on the history and importance of independent bookshops. There is a whole chapter on Parnassus! Happy Reading!

Love love your channel and know of the cookbook author you mention. Speaking of which, for 2024 I borrowed from the library the cookbook DOLCI!! then immediately bought one for myself and gave them as Christmas gifts to family and friends. This cookbook is magical! Pictures of Italy and a font that is gorgeous and kind to eyes, I made the amaretti cookies as well as the carrot cake with marscapone/heavy whipped cream frosting, both now part of the Vitamin Dessert repertoire. Hugs to you both and Teddie.

I love amaretti cookies. A good cookbook is a wonderful thing, and I hope more people learn that!

My number one most anticipated book for 2025 is Open, Heaven by Seán Hewitt.
His 300,000 Kisses was on my top ten list for 2024 and I really enjoyed “All Down Darkness Wide: A Memoir” from a few years ago.

Happy new year. I'm a new subscriber who is legally blind and a dog/ book enthusiast. Is Teddy a Welsh Terrier? I have a mini schnauzer

Hooray for fellow dog/book enthusiasts! Teddy is indeed a Welsh Terrier. He's the third Welshie that we've had--but only the first one was intentional (the other two were rescues who happened to come our way). I also love schnauzers.

Lots of these sound really good! 😀Non fiction rec for you is: Holding the Line: Women in the Great Arizona Mine Strike, by Barbara Kingsolver- this is wonderful, I'm reading this now - really engaging social history at its most human - endorsement by Ann Patchett on the Uk back cover which is nice

Hi, I love your channel. I recently read The Ride of Her Life by Elizabeth Letts, non-fiction that came out in 2022. It’s a wonderful story that I’d never heard of involving a woman in her 60s who decides to ride horseback from her home in Maine to California. I love stories about animals and one of my favorites is The Eighty Dollar Champion also by Ms Letts.

Some NF recommendations for you, mostly in the nature/animals vein. All three of Robin Wall Kimmerer's books, her first being Braiding Sweetgrass, and I highly recommend the audiobook, since she narrates and her voice is so powerful and moving.
World of Wonders by Aimee Nezhukumatathil, and she has a new release as well called Bite by Bite. Also Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law by Mary Roach! Her writing is well-researched and informative, but she's also so funny it makes all her work very approachable and digestible.
And this one isn't non-fiction, but I think you would enjoy the author Kent Haruf, specifically Our Souls at Night. Happy reading!

Zora’s final novel- The Life of Herod the Great-was released January 7. It’s a historical novel “retelling” of Herod the Great. Zora is quite the historian, anthropologist and spiritualist so I have zero doubt she left any stone unturned. I download a sample but I’m sure I’ll be buying a copy.

I don't read a lot of non fiction, but last year I read Hijab Butch Blues, by Lamya H., the memoir of a queer Muslin organizer living in NY. Listened to it on audio, which is something else I don't do often. The narrator, who is not the author, does a good job.

I am a huge fan of S.A. Cosby too! I just finished a wonderful fiction book by Evison called "The Heart of Winter" that you both might enjoy. As for NF books, model Elle MacPherson's new book Elle was fantastic and next up for me are - Franchise: The Golden Arches in Black America by Chatelain & Whiskey Tender by Jackson Taffa.

I have two biography recommendations coming out this year. I paid attention to these because I have a US history project. Mark Twain by Ron Chernow is coming out in May. I think people who liked James might be interested in it. Joseph Smith by John G. Turner is coming out in June. You might have to be interested in westward expansion to be interested in this one.

So many incredible books to look forward to, super excited for the new Kim Fay!
On Selznick, I can't remember if you've read The Marvels, but if not you must. Also he did a special edition of Walt Whitman's Live Oak With Moss, illustrated and with a lot of commentary that is achingly beautiful and super gaaay! That you should definitely get to if you've not seen it.

I’m waiting for the phone call from my local indie to tell me Isaac’s Song is ready for me to pick up. I just looked up how I read Don’t Cry For Me and it was audio. I thought for sure I read the physical copy, which I definitely have. Anyway, I’ll be reading the physical book this time. Guess that’s ok as Daniel Black isn’t the narrator this time.
I started Ruby Fruit Jungle last night and I’m loving it! Anna Paquin is a perfect narrator for it. So, thanks for that recommendation!!
