This had to be 'the' worst opening ceremony ever, Paris should be shamed of themselves for giving this to the Olympics and the World. In terms of facts. Yes - it was a fact there was mockery. It’s not a fact that it was Shameful as you put it. This is a subjective judgement. I thought it was fantastic - another subjective judgement.
In my case, apart from certain things, I like it. I think a lot of people here forget that the show lasted 4 hours and was not just about liberalism or whatever. There was the Eiffel tower lighting up at night, Assassin's Creed running on the roofs of Paris, Mona Lisa and the Minions, Gojira, a cabaret, the Marseillaise sung on the rooftops of Paris, The French Pianist Alexandre Kantorow performed, There were amazing dancers dancing in the rain, Aya Nakamura performed with La Garde Républicaine, Lady Gaga sang in French, Celine Dion sang "L'hymne à L'amour" from Edith Piaf and I could go on even talking about the little French references that they put in.
All this to say that I think that summarizing this to liberalism while in the show there was much more than that is reductive.
