In India... Himalayan is a dream bike for lots of Indians...it's 2.6 lakhs rupees here.. it's quite expensive for us but still we love to buy it ❤️❤️❤️
I own one myself, but after introducing my daughter to the bike, I may have lost access to it. She loves it as much as I do. Love this bike, more I ride it more I like it.
Hmm. I do speculate a lot about to find a new job. Perhaps I'll just buy a Himalayan and keep my current job and start commuting on a Himalayan. The sooner the better I think.

20 years and before, REs were infamous for parts falling off as you rode them . They've turned a corner since then where Honda just released a bike in India which imitates the RE spec for spec. And the 650 twins have gone on to become the highest selling motorcycles in the UK currently.
RE was based on BSA if I remember and the design never changed from 40s or 50s (Just too lazy to do research). It used to look similar to most bikes built in that era and that is what made it fun when I rode them. I do not remember it being very unreliable but I do remember I used to make many heads turn when I showed up on it to my school.
Well here in brazil there famous for exactly that: parts falling off and engine failure, at least with the himalayan model. Some of the common problems are: water infiltrating in the panel, headlight break due to weak polymer used, superior part of the engine (I dont know the name for that in english) needing to be repaired with 10k km rode (it seams it is either a problem with glue used to tie togheter the engine parts or something to do with our gasoline which contains 27% of ethanol), oil leak in one of the engine screws (apparently it is 10mm short), the luggage support being extremely weak (they make you sign a paper that you know that it can only support 5kg without breaking) and the list goes on. Also altough cheap we have other competitors at the same price (xtz 250 lander from yamaha and xre 300 from honda) and if you dont mind buying a used bike you can buy a 2 years old versys 300x for the same price (and probably have less problems than with a brand new himalayan). I do love the style of the bike. I like bare metal brute bikes. But ironically it is less reliable than other models full of weak plastic.
@@galerinha sorry you had a bad experience. When I used them a long time back it was a 350 bullet. I had some good memories with it. However I will wait for the 650 version and get it. I have a Yamaha maxim 82 with 136k miles on the engine and yes understand Yamahas are probably more reliable. Can't be sure as I need to own a himalayan myself. Sometimes you might get a bad bike. It's just bad luck. Had a honda once which was very unreliable ...so sometimes it's bad luck I guess
@@csrajuse I was speaking about the overall experience here in brazil. I will probably buy a bike this year but it will probably be a used versys 300x tourer. I can't feel comfortable to do long trips with a historically problematic bike. Another reason is himalayan is designed for indian highways, here in brazil is common to have roads with speed limit of 110 or 120 kph, speeds that the himalayan can't cruise at. And I think it is very dangerous to drive considerably slower than bigger vehicles, specially in such small bike.
Being isolated up the coast, I bought mine over the phone after seeing a pic of one in the Himalayas.. what an intersting cool looking bike! Two yrs later, still lovin it. A 2 wheel Jeep indeed, it compliments my 4WD version. Excellent video and a great choice of music. Cheers from the PNW.
Love my Himalayan, actually have done more then a few TH-cam Vids with my Himalayan. Feel free to check them out. Definitely an affordable option. I got mine two years ago, and at 47, opened my eyes to the world of off road riding. I will be forever thankful for my Himalayan for that...
Buying products from a developing country is cheaper than a product made in developed country coz of cost of production..... These motorcycles will get more expensive with time as india develops more
Hello from Bavaria! I rode mine last year 15.000 km, and it is the best counterpart to my Harley. My Himalayan earns the same love. I commute every day 65 km one way to work and evening back. It is really a mule and a 2w Jeep. I have the original boxes, I fill them with tools to fix my van in the garage, I carry trailer highes to the sandblasting company, I bring my son to school on it, I even carried my ebike to service on my Himalayan. Heated grips, a 2 inch handlebar riser, a Scott oiler, and you are ( at least me) ready for every trip, either commuting or world travel. I put this bike above all I had in my past: MZ, Yamaha xs400, Honda ST1100, BMW KS1200R, BMW Boxer. They all have lost my heart and love to this MEDITATION machine. Nice to see you having the same fun I have on my RE.
I purchased a brand new Himalayan here in Thailand in March 2020 and just never fell in love with it. At 60 years old, riding alone, I never really wanted to go off road but preferred riding on the streets. Although the Himalayan was extremely comfortable it was a little underpowered for me and also found it a bit clunky while shifting. Somehow i knew it wasn't eh bike for me. After extensive research I ended up buying a new royal enfield interceptor that I absolutely love. I put about 10,000 kilometers on both bikes and cannot recommend Royal enfield enough. I don't mean to bash your choice and only hope you are as happy with your Himalayan as I am with my Interceptor. Keep up the good work
In my experience this is a very pleasant motorcycle to ride. I ride mine every day - it is my only transport. Great for commuting to work in urban traffic and so much FUN when I go out to play :-) Slightly jealous that your back roads appear to be in better condition than our main roads.

My dad bought a Himalayan for me to practice with. I've out 1,500 miles on it, and I gotta say I love this bike. Just barely fast enough for the highway (this one tops out at 85mph with a few minor mods), but on any road or terrain it's an outstanding bike. Looking forward to buying my own.
I am now 70 and have ridden a plethora of machines during that time, from a Tiger cub to a Road King to a CBR 1100 Super Blackbird; but I think that my happiest memories are those where the ride mattered - relaxed and stress free - and not just how fast you could get there. So thank you for this in-depth review, I will be after another bike soon, don't have a huge amount to spend, like doing my own "mechanics" and definitely do not want nor need gadgetry so your video has just confirmed my thoughts. Another great video as usual !! I think your Himalayan content is what might get you to the 1000 mark. There's a lot of motorcycle related channels on TH-cam, but not so with the Himalayan. ( although it's growing) Being a Himalayan owner myself, I think you've definitely" hit the nail on the head". You're enthusiasm shows just how fun this motorcycle is. Keep up the good work !
Great that you mentioned Noraly “Itchy Boots” and her “Basanti” and “Dhanno”, the two Himalayans witty which she covered almost the entire world with! And now she has a Honda which she named “Ronin”😉 after you and that too because “Dhanno” got stuck due to COVID-19! Here in India 🇮🇳, the so called “THIRD WORLD” country we DO need a tractor like the Himalayan which can gulp up the Third World gas we get, get bashed up in the worst of roads that we have and still stand tall! And because of this the “First World” countries get the best of products at the most affordable prices that is even beyond their dreams! It can handle way more than just the little incline gravel roads and also keep up on the highway at 120 kms/hr all day and still give you a humble 32 kmpl or roughly around 71 mpg. Maintenance, just at $30 for an oil change, spares ranging from $10 to $60, and still we got haters all over the “First World” nations! It’s really fascinating 🤨🤨🤨...!!!

Well for all the comparison though cant you just snag one of these for $2900 bucks ? That is a steal. I grew up in India before immigrating to US and I remember Bullet, Jawa and Yezdi (and Rajdoot, but eh !) were like my fav. I had a bullet for sometime and the fun I had with it was unimaginable . I probably will never do a "world" tour on any bikes... but sure am I waiting for the new 650 version of Himalayan .

@@toy014 It was given by a Dutch dealer/importer not RE, in exchange for her original Himalyan - which I think is why she switched to Honda power as she feels she has not recieved any real acknowledgement/support from the company - you seem very good at not presenting facts as they are my friend.
You explained it well. I own this for the past 4 years and it is fun+comfort. It always glides through all rough patches when we stand up. It will be just like we are riding on a highway standing on the footrest. Happy riding bro.
I'm loving my Himalayan too after the 1st couple of months. Just back from my first decent trip, 750 miles of the twistiest roads TomTom could find in Scotland and northern England over 4 days including some off-road which I've never done before. The bike got me through no problem even loaded up with luggage. :)
I'm from the US, but I've done all my riding in India as I grew up there and used to have a house at 7500ft up in the Himalayas. So riding a Himalayan in the Himalayas was super special. (by the way, its actually pronounced "Him-aal-yen" because it means "abode of snow" in Sanscrit and the other way to pronounce it means "mtns I've never been to" in American :-). I've been riding RE for the past 15 years. Started with old clunky Bullets and then the Classic 500 and then the Himalayan. I had frustrations with the older bikes but they taught me to ride. But the Himalayan was like and old pair of jeans - fit me perfectly. (you won't believe they cost about US$3800 brand new in India! ) Now I'm planning to move to Australia soon and I've got nearly any bike to chose from ..... and I keep thinking I might just buy another Himalayan!! Really fun bike. Especially at 10,000ft in the mtns with a Tata truck coming at you in the wrong lane and a 500ft drop with no guard rail. After cleaning out your pants (!) and getting back in the saddle, its just the most fun ever. Thrilled to see how popular they have become in the rest of the world.

Bike was designed to tackle Himalayan mountains here in India..people used to take all kinds of bikes there.. I took my Ninja 650 this spring to Himalayan mountain ranges and there were some points, when the roads were gnarly, I was thinking it'd been better if I just had an RE..having said that I really had a load of fun on my ninja in the twisties..

I imagine that having a basic, fun bike also means that wherever you take it in the world, if you do need repairs by any of the locals, you've got a much better chance of them getting you moving again, rather than needing to find someone with a computer to plug it in... Looks good.
Also convinced by your sympathic video I've bought a new Himalayan 2021, which I will get on 5.1.2022, when I get 60 years. Over 30 years I didn't drive a bike and I am so excited and full of joy about my decision. I struggled with which RE to get. I went with the INT650 because I’m not touring yet. Both are great bikes. I’m eventually going to have both but I’ll have to scramble the INT for now. 😁
Itchy Boots has a Honda CB500x now. I bought a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650cc on Saturday. Love it! May get a Himalayan someday too. Royal Enfield is taking the World by storm! As Harley cripples along..,.,.

I have just bought a new one, hopefully get it next week. Should be great for North East Scotland. Did two three week tours of the US a few years ago, including a week in Yellowstone which was unbelievable. My wife wouldn’t get on a motorcycle so we had to use 4 wheels but it was still magical. I did try to get my wife on my bike once, we only got about a 100 yards or so, she screamed all the way, didn’t get out of first gear!! Really enjoying your videos.
Yes Yellowstone is amazing. Next time try Glacier National Park or Zion. Amazing. Sorry your wife isn't a rider. Break her into it gently, have her talk to other female riders.
I recently decided to take up riding motorcycles in my 40s. Last time I was on a bike was over 20 years ago. As I researched a good beginner bike, the Himalayan really stood out. Got my endorsement and got my 2021 Himalayan not long ago and I am so happy. Not a real easy bike to get in the states but so worth it. I feel very comfortable on it despite being a new rider. I also appreciate Royal Enfield's improvements over the few years they been making the current model. They really took the input they got to heart and now have an amazing product for a great price.
One of my sons paid £368 for a service on his GSX R1. This bike sounds like a good deal , I'm 70 and still ride an old B M W K75c , it still pulls like a train , starts first time every time , but I could do with a smaller machine , this sounds like the ideal for my needs . Oh man! This is torture. I watched Itchy boots season 1 and fell in love with the himalayan. Then I discovered you when searching info on the bike. Then I hop on my Honda CB500F and think nah... I like this bike it's fine. Then I watch another of your videos and I'm back to MAN I REALLY WANT ONE!!!
I agree with everything that you have said about the Himalayan. I have now done 24,000 miles on mine in just over a 18 months, 14,000 of that total between being done between July and October this year in Europe from Spain to Turkey. I replaced the bald OEM Pirelli tyres with Mitas E07's at 10,000 miles. At 24,000 the Mitas tyres are about half worn and they still perform well in off road conditions. I would recommend these as they wear slowly and work well both on and off road.
I love reason number 1! It took me a lot of years to figure that out. A motorcycle is a toy the only way you can really evaluate its worth is how much fun it creates. Honestly, I bought an Africa Twin and it scares me. It’s brilliant but it’s tall and I’m little and old.
Just gotta say, Thank you for your review of the bike man! I’m in northern Alaska, looking for my first bike and came across the Himalayan by accident actually. Passed it around to a couple buddies who ride up here and said it’s a good choice. And now after watching this and all the other research I’ve done personally, I can say that once riding season starts, I’m getting one of these bikes. Thanks again! I appreciate it!
Great video, I have to live vicariously through youtube since winter seems to have finally hit us in Montana! Those are all the reasons I bought my REH, so glad I bought it as my first bike. I had watched Itchy Boots and Karmakaze Moto before I test rode one and I tried to be impartial (I wasn't going to like the bike just 'cause I watched their channels) but when I started it up and took it out, I just couldn't help it. I've got close to 6k miles and still love it. Another channel I watched with a REH is Riding on Eggshells, the woman was learning to ride off road and on trails with her REH and that bike was dropped and crashed so many times ( I think I counted 11 times in one video) that I thought this has to be a tough bike and figured it would do great with anything I throw at it. Ride safe!

Didnt think i would stay for the whole video, but I did! Great video, it's a great looking bike, and certainly looks like a lot of fun. The smaller/lighter bikes are always more fun, and can't beat the price
O.M.R. agree with all. I'm loving my 21 hima. So now you have to do the cons. My list so far in no order: 1) cold blooded, the bike does have an enricher which I have rarely used. I just let it warm up as you are suppose to. I think the fix is to move the air temp probe so it doesn't get wrong reading from engine heated air. At any rate this is a very minor issue. 2) lack of top speed, for me this is just what is reported, I am still in break in phase, I plan to put a 16T front sprocket which should improve chain and sprocket life. 3) front screen too short-there are many extenders and taller ones to be had--so far not an issue for me, I have been trying to keep highway speeds down for break in. 4) weight, --It is a heavy beast, --bringing it home on the trailer I though I could unload it by myself and undid the front tie downs with me on the wrong side, the fiddling went on longer than I suspected and the bike went down on rail of trailer, --the front fuel guard saved the bike. However I could not lift the bike back to vertical. I had to ratchet it up some from the other side. Let it be said this was on the trailer, I will soon be 68 and don't have the strength I once had. But lesson learned, (about unloading) I will be doing a serious weight reduction effort on the bike. 5) power, and again, top end,... I am still in break in and so far my experience is the bike is fine. I do have a big bore kit to install and will recam it as soon as those are available. These 5 cons are more niggles than deal breakers. I must say that your top five pro reasons is INCOMPLETE and SHOULD be expanded to 6. IMAO number 6 should be seat height. The reason the small ADV class is taking off is because of the INSANITY of taking a bike so heavy you cannot pick it up AND FLAT FOOT on trails. The 6 reason the Himalayan is so great is that when the going gets bad and you drop it, you can get it up (ALWAYS good to be able to do THAT!), and you can use your legs before the bike goes down to PREVENT this from occurring. Are you wanting any company on the TAT?

Enfield has been an Indian company since 1945, acquiring rights from the Royal Enfield UK which shut down. But they never innovated or updated and built a crappy reputation. Then Eicher Motors, another Indian company bought them. Eicher CEO Siddhartha Lal is a biker and he be rebranded the company as RE, completely transformed with new models, innovations and most of all a rider awareness.
I’m recently coming from touring bike to an ADV. Had a KLR650 over 20 years ago. Cool ride and I dug it. This absolutely the type of riding I’m currently interested in. Your well presented review has pushed me ever closer to the precipice of this being my next bike; maybe as soon as tomorrow morning.I just have to ride it before I jump in with both feet. Thanks!
I gave you a subscribe, I hope you grow your channel. I've bought two bikes this year after being out of the game for 20 years. I'm so mad at myself for not riding sooner, but I was stupid when I was younger as far as drinking and what not. I'm a casual person now, so I ride safely to ride another day because I enjoy it so much. My crazy old ass wants to do the trans-America trail, so the Himalayan is on my list. I think it would be a blast. I'm 43, so I think I still have it in me to push myself more than I think that I am capable.

I've only ever had one motorcycle and that was when I was in my 20's and back then the only bikes that could do off road (as far as I knew) were the enduro's and dirt bikes which werent my thing. Then like you I saw Noraly riding her Hymalayins (was really diappointed she couldnt make it to Alaska) ALONE, in sand, dirt, snow, gravel, beaches etc etc and man did my attention antenna kick into high gear! So I will be getting a Hymalayin next year but not sure if it will be the 411 or the new 650 thats supposed to come out then but one or the other I'm buying! Im into 4X4's and tractors too all my life so having a "4X4" motorcycle will be getting me out cheaper to explore where I never been to which makes this old heart of mine tick a might quicker. Very nice video! I'm considering this bike as my first bike. I'm planning to get my licence by the end of this year and to get the bike beginning of next season. I was so happy when you stated fun as the number 1 reason, as everything I've seen about this bike screams fun, good times and relaxed riding on and off road.
I totally agree with your thinking. Less is more, so I’m currently having fun at 125 cc. Years ago, that would not have been possible. And yes, I'm getting old.

This is something that I cannot deny, this Himalayan does a great job. Here in Colombia the road is crappy most of the times, however this bike's answer to it is awesome. Perfect in height for south-american ppl. Awesome videos, and nice editing. Keep on it, cheers!
Great cheap bike brought a brand new ones 2 years ago, rode it everyday to work and it just so reliable the only major repair I did was the head stock bearings , so easy to work on parts really cheap, recently sold it and brought the trail version in silver and red looks great. I do miss it and I'm sure in the future I will purchase another one, great video keep up the good work buddy👍 UK.

I would love to buy a RE Himalayan. I have two things stopping me. 1- I would have to come out of retirement (get a job) to buy one, 2- my wife told me I would have to trade in or sell off my beloved Triumph Bonneville T100. I cannot imagine some other guy sitting/riding MY motorcycle. Thank you for the honest review. Too many people think motorcycles have to be big, expensive, and loaded with electronics. I appreciate simple, reliable, oil tight and affordable.
Its built to be a riding partner in the Himalayas, India isn't like 3rd world level status like you assume :) Just another clarification, Indian roads aren't bad, they are mostly good roads & great highways (especially in south), we have lax to nill enforcement of speed limits on Highways, you will see villagers riding on opposite direction at 40kms/hr to bmv zooming past at 200kms/hr, i would say the normal traffic flows in Indian highways at 80 to 120kms/hr. From first wave lockdown till 2nd wave lockdown clocked 25,000kms.
It wasn't built for just India, but everywhere including the EXTREMELY rough roads here in the Americas and as well other parts of the world. It was designed to be a mule for the world. Hey, even antarctica

I have a Himalayan and what people don't tell you, is the valve clearance needs done every 3000 miles, it's expensive service if you get done twice a year.
Pre ordered mine 3 weeks ago. Itchy boots and the series where he rides from Washington to Alaska were the main reasons. I absolutely can not eat to get it. I’m also in the Cincinnati area. Love to maybe come up after mine arrives and cruise with ya if you’re up for it.
I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I bought my Himalayan new in 2022. I have 22,000 kms on it now. I have enjoyed adding accessories to my bike and riding to ghost towns and back roads; however Canada is a big country and I have found that the bike is a bit of a dog on long days on pavement. I have been looking at other bikes but I am short 5’4” and I’m 70 years old. Most of the bigger displacement bikes are also a lot taller and heavier. I had an Africa Twin for two years. It is a brilliant bike but it was too tall and heavy off road, for me.
Noraly had inspired multitudes of new and old riders alike.

20 years and before, REs were infamous for parts falling off as you rode them . They've turned a corner since then where Honda just released a bike in India which imitates the RE spec for spec. And the 650 twins have gone on to become the highest selling motorcycles in the UK currently.

RE was based on BSA if I remember and the design never changed from 40s or 50s (Just too lazy to do research). It used to look similar to most bikes built in that era and that is what made it fun when I rode them. I do not remember it being very unreliable but I do remember I used to make many heads turn when I showed up on it to my school.
Well here in brazil there famous for exactly that: parts falling off and engine failure, at least with the himalayan model.
Some of the common problems are: water infiltrating in the panel, headlight break due to weak polymer used, superior part of the engine (I dont know the name for that in english) needing to be repaired with 10k km rode (it seams it is either a problem with glue used to tie togheter the engine parts or something to do with our gasoline which contains 27% of ethanol), oil leak in one of the engine screws (apparently it is 10mm short), the luggage support being extremely weak (they make you sign a paper that you know that it can only support 5kg without breaking) and the list goes on. Also altough cheap we have other competitors at the same price (xtz 250 lander from yamaha and xre 300 from honda) and if you dont mind buying a used bike you can buy a 2 years old versys 300x for the same price (and probably have less problems than with a brand new himalayan).
I do love the style of the bike. I like bare metal brute bikes. But ironically it is less reliable than other models full of weak plastic.
@@galerinha sorry you had a bad experience. When I used them a long time back it was a 350 bullet. I had some good memories with it. However I will wait for the 650 version and get it. I have a Yamaha maxim 82 with 136k miles on the engine and yes understand Yamahas are probably more reliable. Can't be sure as I need to own a himalayan myself. Sometimes you might get a bad bike. It's just bad luck. Had a honda once which was very unreliable ...so sometimes it's bad luck I guess
@@csrajuse I was speaking about the overall experience here in brazil. I will probably buy a bike this year but it will probably be a used versys 300x tourer. I can't feel comfortable to do long trips with a historically problematic bike.
Another reason is himalayan is designed for indian highways, here in brazil is common to have roads with speed limit of 110 or 120 kph, speeds that the himalayan can't cruise at. And I think it is very dangerous to drive considerably slower than bigger vehicles, specially in such small bike.
Being isolated up the coast, I bought mine over the phone after seeing a pic of one in the Himalayas.. what an intersting cool looking bike! Two yrs later, still lovin it. A 2 wheel Jeep indeed, it compliments my 4WD version.

Hello from Bavaria! I rode mine last year 15.000 km, and it is the best counterpart to my Harley. My Himalayan earns the same love. I commute every day 65 km one way to work and evening back. It is really a mule and a 2w Jeep. I have the original boxes, I fill them with tools to fix my van in the garage, I carry trailer highes to the sandblasting company, I bring my son to school on it, I even carried my ebike to service on my Himalayan. Heated grips, a 2 inch handlebar riser, a Scott oiler, and you are ( at least me) ready for every trip, either commuting or world travel. I put this bike above all I had in my past: MZ, Yamaha xs400, Honda ST1100, BMW KS1200R, BMW Boxer. They all have lost my heart and love to this MEDITATION machine. Nice to see you having the same fun I have on my RE.

I purchased a brand new Himalayan here in Thailand in March 2020 and just never fell in love with it. At 60 years old, riding alone, I never really wanted to go off road but preferred riding on the streets. Although the Himalayan was extremely comfortable it was a little underpowered for me and also found it a bit clunky while shifting. Somehow i knew it wasn't eh bike for me. After extensive research I ended up buying a new royal enfield interceptor that I absolutely love. I put about 10,000 kilometers on both bikes and cannot recommend Royal enfield enough. I don't mean to bash your choice and only hope you are as happy with your Himalayan as I am with my Interceptor. Keep up the good work

In my experience this is a very pleasant motorcycle to ride. I ride mine every day - it is my only transport. Great for commuting to work in urban traffic and so much FUN when I go out to play :-)

My dad bought a Himalayan for me to practice with. I've out 1,500 miles on it, and I gotta say I love this bike. Just barely fast enough for the highway (this one tops out at 85mph with a few minor mods), but on any road or terrain it's an outstanding bike. Looking forward to buying my own.

I am now 70 and have ridden a plethora of machines during that time, from a Tiger cub to a Road King to a CBR 1100 Super Blackbird; but I think that my happiest memories are those where the ride mattered - relaxed and stress free - and not just how fast you could get there. So thank you for this in-depth review, I will be after another bike soon, don't have a huge amount to spend, like doing my own "mechanics" and definitely do not want nor need gadgetry so your video has just confirmed my thoughts. I think your Himalayan content is what might get you to the 1000 mark. There's a lot of motorcycle related channels on TH-cam, but not so with the Himalayan. Great that you mentioned Noraly “Itchy Boots” and her “Basanti” and “Dhanno”, the two Himalayans witty which she covered almost the entire world with! And now she has a Honda which she named “Ronin”😉 after you and that too because “Dhanno” got stuck due to COVID-19! Here in India 🇮🇳, the so called “THIRD WORLD” country we DO need a tractor like the Himalayan which can gulp up the Third World gas we get, get bashed up in the worst of roads that we have and still stand tall! And because of this the “First World” countries get the best of products at the most affordable prices that is even beyond their dreams! It can handle way more than just the little incline gravel roads and also keep up on the highway at 120 kms/hr all day and still give you a humble 32 kmpl or roughly around 71 mpg. Maintenance, just at $30 for an oil change, spares ranging from $10 to $60, and still we got haters all over the “First World” nations! It’s really fascinating 🤨🤨🤨...!!!

Well for all the comparison though cant you just snag one of these for $2900 bucks ? That is a steal. I grew up in India before immigrating to US and I remember Bullet, Jawa and Yezdi (and Rajdoot, but eh !) were like my fav. I had a bullet for sometime and the fun I had with it was unimaginable . I probably will never do a "world" tour on any bikes... but sure am I waiting for the new 650 version of Himalayan .

@@toy014 It was given by a Dutch dealer/importer not RE, in exchange for her original Himalyan - which I think is why she switched to Honda power as she feels she has not recieved any real acknowledgement/support from the company - you seem very good at not presenting facts as they are my friend.
You explained it well. I own this for the past 4 years and it is fun+comfort. It always glides through all rough patches when we stand up. It will be just like we are riding on a highway standing on the footrest. Happy riding bro.

I'm loving my Himalayan too after the 1st couple of months. Just back from my first decent trip, 750 miles of the twistiest roads TomTom could find in Scotland and northern England over 4 days including some off-road which I've never done before. The bike got me through no problem even loaded up with luggage. :)
I'm from the US, but I've done all my riding in India as I grew up there and used to have a house at 7500ft up in the Himalayas. So riding a Himalayan in the Himalayas was super special. (by the way, its actually pronounced "Him-aal-yen" because it means "abode of snow" in Sanscrit and the other way to pronounce it means "mtns I've never been to" in American :-). I've been riding RE for the past 15 years. Started with old clunky Bullets and then the Classic 500 and then the Himalayan. I had frustrations with the older bikes but they taught me to ride. But the Himalayan was like and old pair of jeans - fit me perfectly. (you won't believe they cost about US$3800 brand new in India! ) Now I'm planning to move to Australia soon and I've got nearly any bike to chose from ..... and I keep thinking I might just buy another Himalayan!! Really fun bike. Especially at 10,000ft in the mtns with a Tata truck coming at you in the wrong lane and a 500ft drop with no guard rail. After cleaning out your pants (!) and getting back in the saddle, its just the most fun ever. Thrilled to see how popular they have become in the rest of the world.

Bike was designed to tackle Himalayan mountains here in India..people used to take all kinds of bikes there..
I took my Ninja 650 this spring to Himalayan mountain ranges and there were some points, when the roads were gnarly, I was thinking it'd been better if I just had an RE..having said that I really had a load of fun on my ninja in the twisties..

I imagine that having a basic, fun bike also means that wherever you take it in the world, if you do need repairs by any of the locals, you've got a much better chance of them getting you moving again, rather than needing to find someone with a computer to plug it in... Looks good.

Both are great bikes. I’m eventually going to have both but I’ll have to scramble the INT for now. 😁
Itchy Boots has a Honda CB500x now. I bought a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650cc on Saturday. Love it! May get a Himalayan someday too. Royal Enfield is taking the World by storm! As Harley cripples along..,.,.

Did two three week tours of the US a few years ago, including a week in Yellowstone which was unbelievable. My wife wouldn’t get on a motorcycle so we had to use 4 wheels but it was still magical.
I did try to get my wife on my bike once, we only got about a 100 yards or so, she screamed all the way, didn’t get out of first gear!!

Yes Yellowstone is amazing. Next time try Glacier National Park or Zion. Amazing. Sorry your wife isn't a rider. Break her into it gently, have her talk to other female riders.
I recently decided to take up riding motorcycles in my 40s. Last time I was on a bike was over 20 years ago. As I researched a good beginner bike, the Himalayan really stood out. Got my endorsement and got my 2021 Himalayan not long ago and I am so happy. Not a real easy bike to get in the states but so worth it. I feel very comfortable on it despite being a new rider. I also appreciate Royal Enfield's improvements over the few years they been making the current model. They really took the input they got to heart and now have an amazing product for a great price.

One of my sons paid £368 for a service on his GSX R1. This bike sounds like a good deal , I'm 70 and still ride an old B M W K75c , it still pulls like a train , starts first time every time , but I could do with a smaller machine , this sounds like the ideal for my needs . I agree with everything that you have said about the Himalayan. I have now done 24,000 miles on mine in just over a 18 months, 14,000 of that total between being done between July and October this year in Europe from Spain to Turkey. I replaced the bald OEM Pirelli tyres with Mitas E07's at 10,000 miles. At 24,000 the Mitas tyres are about half worn and they still perform well in off road conditions. I would recommend these as they wear slowly and work well both on and off road.

I love reason number 1! It took me a lot of years to figure that out. A motorcycle is a toy the only way you can really evaluate its worth is how much fun it creates. Honestly, I bought an Africa Twin and it scares me. It’s brilliant but it’s tall and I’m little and old.
I live int he Philippines half the year. This is the best bike if you're into trail riding and street use.

Just gotta say, Thank you for your review of the bike man! I’m in northern Alaska, looking for my first bike and came across the Himalayan by accident actually. Passed it around to a couple buddies who ride up here and said it’s a good choice. Great video, I have to live vicariously through youtube since winter seems to have finally hit us in Montana! Those are all the reasons I bought my REH, so glad I bought it as my first bike. I had watched Itchy Boots and Karmakaze Moto before I test rode one and I tried to be impartial (I wasn't going to like the bike just 'cause I watched their channels) but when I started it up and took it out, I just couldn't help it. I've got close to 6k miles and still love it. Another channel I watched with a REH is Riding on Eggshells, the woman was learning to ride off road and on trails with her REH and that bike was dropped and crashed so many times ( I think I counted 11 times in one video) that I thought this has to be a tough bike and figured it would do great with anything I throw at it. Riding on Eggshells was fun. I like those guys, they're fun. Last I saw she was selling the Himalayan. I think she didn't appreciate all the damage she had caused and wanted something new and shiny.

O.M.R. agree with all. I'm loving my 21 hima. So now you have to do the cons. My list so far in no order: 1) cold blooded, the bike does have an enricher which I have rarely used. I just let it warm up as you are suppose to. I think the fix is to move the air temp probe so it doesn't get wrong reading from engine heated air. At any rate this is a very minor issue. 2) lack of top speed, for me this is just what is reported, I am still in break in phase, I plan to put a 16T front sprocket which should improve chain and sprocket life. 3) front screen too short-there are many extenders and taller ones to be had--so far not an issue for me, I have been trying to keep highway speeds down for break in. 4) weight, --It is a heavy beast, --bringing it home on the trailer I though I could unload it by myself and undid the front tie downs with me on the wrong side, the fiddling went on longer than I suspected and the bike went down on rail of trailer, --the front fuel guard saved the bike. However I could not lift the bike back to vertical. I had to ratchet it up some from the other side. Let it be said this was on the trailer, I will soon be 68 and don't have the strength I once had. But lesson learned, (about unloading) I will be doing a serious weight reduction effort on the bike. 5) power, and again, top end,... I am still in break in and so far my experience is the bike is fine. I do have a big bore kit to install and will recam it as soon as those are available. These 5 cons are more niggles than deal breakers. I must say that your top five pro reasons is INCOMPLETE and SHOULD be expanded to 6. IMAO number 6 should be seat height. The reason the small ADV class is taking off is because of the INSANITY of taking a bike so heavy you cannot pick it up AND FLAT FOOT on trails. The 6 reason the Himalayan is so great is that when the going gets bad and you drop it, you can get it up (ALWAYS good to be able to do THAT!), and you can use your legs before the bike goes down to PREVENT this from occurring. Are you wanting any company on the TAT?

Yeah I saw it. I was taught if you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say it. You will always find people who hate things right along people who copy everything you do. lol I just try and do me and ignore the haters and copycaters.

Enfield has been an Indian company since 1945, acquiring rights from the Royal Enfield UK which shut down. But they never innovated or updated and built a crappy reputation. Then Eicher Motors, another Indian company bought them. Eicher CEO Siddhartha Lal is a biker and he be rebranded the company as RE, completely transformed with new models, innovations and most of all a rider awareness.

Had a KLR650 over 20 years ago. Cool ride and I dug it.
This absolutely the type of riding I’m currently interested in.

I gave you a subscribe, I hope you grow your channel. I've bought two bikes this year after being out of the game for 20 years. I'm so mad at myself for not riding sooner, but I was stupid when I was younger as far as drinking and what not. I'm a casual person now, so I ride safely to ride another day because I enjoy it so much. My crazy old ass wants to do the trans-America trail, so the Himalayan is on my list. I think it would be a blast. I'm 43, so I think I still have it in me to push myself more than I think that I am capable.

I've only ever had one motorcycle and that was when I was in my 20's and back then the only bikes that could do off road (as far as I knew) were the enduro's and dirt bikes which werent my thing. Then like you I saw Noraly riding her Hymalayins (was really diappointed she couldnt make it to Alaska) ALONE, in sand, dirt, snow, gravel, beaches etc etc and man did my attention antenna kick into high gear!
So I will be getting a Hymalayin next year but not sure if it will be the 411 or the new 650 thats supposed to come out then but one or the other I'm buying! Im into 4X4's and tractors too all my life so having a "4X4" motorcycle will be getting me out cheaper to explore where I never been to which makes this old heart of mine tick a might quicker.

Very nice video! I'm considering this bike as my first bike. I'm planning to get my licence by the end of this year and to get the bike beginning of next season. I was so happy when you stated fun as the number 1 reason, as everything I've seen about this bike screams fun, good times and relaxed riding on and off road.
I totally agree with your thinking. Less is more, so I’m currently having fun at 125 cc. Years ago, that would not have been possible. And yes, I'm getting old.

This is something that I cannot deny, this Himalayan does a great job. Here in Colombia the road is crappy most of the times, however this bike's answer to it is awesome. Perfect in height for south-american ppl.

Great cheap bike brought a brand new ones 2 years ago, rode it everyday to work and it just so reliable the only major repair I did was the head stock bearings , so easy to work on parts really cheap, recently sold it and brought the trail version in silver and red looks great. I do miss it and I'm sure in the future I will purchase another one, great video keep up the good work buddy👍 UK.

Thanks for sharing your views. I've been "following" Noraly since she started and have been very tempted to get one of these. At my age my kids, grand-kids and even their kids would probably try to lock me away, they were suitably aghast when I replaced my Power Wagon with an old Jeep, lol. Thanks.
I would love to buy a RE Himalayan. I have two things stopping me. 1- I would have to come out of retirement (get a job) to buy one, 2- my wife told me I would have to trade in or sell off my beloved Triumph Bonneville T100. I cannot imagine some other guy sitting/riding MY motorcycle. Thank you for the honest review. Too many people think motorcycles have to be big, expensive, and loaded with electronics. I appreciate simple, reliable, oil tight and affordable.
Its built to be a riding partner in the Himalayas, India isn't like 3rd world level status like you assume :)
Just another clarification, Indian roads aren't bad, they are mostly good roads & great highways (especially in south), we have lax to nill enforcement of speed limits on Highways, you will see villagers riding on opposite direction at 40kms/hr to bmv zooming past at 200kms/hr, i would say the normal traffic flows in Indian highways at 80 to 120kms/hr.

I have a Himalayan and what people don't tell you, is the valve clearance needs done every 3000 miles, it's expensive service if you get done twice a year.

Pre ordered mine 3 weeks ago. Itchy boots and the series where he rides from Washington to Alaska were the main reasons. I absolutely can not eat to get it. I’m also in the Cincinnati area. Love to maybe come up after mine arrives and cruise with ya if you’re up for it.

I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I bought my Himalayan new in 2022. I have 22,000 kms on it now. I have enjoyed adding accessories to my bike and riding to ghost towns and back roads; however Canada is a big country and I have found that the bike is a bit of a dog on long days on pavement. I have been looking at other bikes but I am short 5’4” and I’m 70 years old. Most of the bigger displacement bikes are also a lot taller and heavier. I had an Africa Twin for two years. It is a brilliant bike but it was too tall and heavy off road, for me.
