There’s a lot to learn as an aspiring author. But nothing is more important than understanding how to find a great editor.
A good editorial relationship can be the difference between loving your book journey and feeling overwhelmed, under-supported and just plain miserable.
Longtime book editor Kelly Notaras has the inside scoop. She owns and operates an editorial studio, knliterary.com. Everyday she sees how much more success her clients have when they’ve got the right editor on deck.
Turns out there are just four easy steps to take on your way to finding an editor you can rave about. Kelly’s outlining them in this week’s video!
    You’ll learn:
---Which kind of editor you need right now
---The qualifications you’re looking look for
---Where to find experienced, professional editors
---What questions to ask during an interview
Wherever you are in your book journey, having a reliable, experienced editor by your side is the difference that makes the difference. This four-step process will help you find the editor you’ve been looking for!

No one should need to pay for different edits. a good editor can do a copy edit of structure, tone, syntax and everything else in one go (in my experience). I find the separation of developmental, copy and line edit and proofreading (for novels at least) to be very arbitrary.

Thank you so so much, this is really helpful! My budget isn't solid right now but it's okay, I'm focusing on writing and finishing the first draft while I'll try to land a proper job and eventually hire an editor I'll feel connected to! :)

This was very helpful, and I plan to check your services out. One question: when I hired an editor once before, I first asked for sample edits. This seems to be standard practice, recommended by ALLi, yet you didn't mention it.
