I live in Sacramento. I took out my lawn in the summer 2009 and began planting natives in the Fall. As time went by, I started adding non-native drought tolerant plants for color and to attract pollinators. After watching this video and listening to talks by Doug Talamy, I'm going to remove those non-natives and replace with natives. I am so fired up to share on Nextdoor and with the local Climate Change organization. Thanks you Kathy and Jennifer!
Thank You, Jennifer and BBTNGT group! I found your TH-cam channel while searching for native California plant videos a few months ago and have been binging on your series from 2020 going forward. I really appreciate all the volunteer hours involved in producing this annual tour and accompanying videos. Your outreach has extended up to my home in Butte County. Though I’m not able to attend the tour in person, you’ve done a fantastic job of sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm through these presentations - inspiring me to grow more natives in my yard (>70%!). Your shared knowledge makes the task of transforming a yard to a native plant paradise so understandably doable. I’m also encouraged to create an outreach effort for my neighborhood and surrounding areas. Bless you all.
Hi Carolyn - thank you for your kind words! The credit really goes to Kathy Kramer, as the Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour is entirely her creation. She does do an amazing job, though, of building partnerships and inviting people to share their perspectives. I was so honored to be invited to speak and to collaborate on the keystone species signs. And I'm so glad to hear that this talk resonated for you, and that you are inspired to create outreach efforts in your own community. I have found the outreach to be so rewarding and hope you do too! Happy (native) gardening! - Jennifer
