Beautiful babies!! Thanks for your help. I was a sole man band feeding homeless cats here in Canada. The last few years I got help by a many ladies from many organizations who helped me with my colonies. I thank you for all the work you all do, and I ask for God to Bless you always. In their behalf BIG THANKS!

You know, tortoiseshell cats are also 99% female, too, not just calico cats. This was also due to a mutation of the Y chromosome, too. Even male tortoiseshells are rare, too.

Cute little kittens! The first Tuxedo you pulled out is marked a lot like my Opie, black face, but fully white chin. I have an almost 9 week old kitten, and his litter were were all ginger, like there parents, two males, one being almost a fawn color, and three females all ginger tabbies. My little guy is adjusting rather well to my cat colony. Though, he plays a bit rough still, so the big cats give him a good bop of correction.

Best video ever to help discern whether male or female kitten. This was so helpful, a stray kitty I have been feeding, birthed on my patio, one kitten. Immediately brought both inside, nourishing mama canned kitten food and the kitten milk. She will be spayed when proper time. Mine is jet black, male. Thank you!

i really admire what you do.. im having the toughest time finding help with TNR with a stray mom on her 4th litter in my yard..a local rescue took kittens from 2 litters then they said no more..but wouldn't help TNR the mom.. so she just had more kittens! I realize I may have to do this solo and hope it goes well :) watching your videos for advise.. Thx U!

sometimes local shelters will let you borrow a trap. I'm sure there's got to be a fixed program but affordable and takes ferals even if it's an hour away. most places in the country have one. I would ask every rescue and shelter around what they can offer. sometimes volunteers have so many people wanting them to help trap that they aren't able to fit them all in. but most will give you advice or even loan a trap or help you know where the closest clinic is. it's sad to think that they wouldn't help you out if you were able to trap the cat yourself. maybe they just can't come out and do the trapping for you but if you were able to trap her it would work. one thing that works well is trap training. where you get them really used to eating out of a trap that's tied open. and then when you have an appointment at the vet you can trap her ahead of time by actually setting the Trap and she'll be used to going in it so she'll be more likely to get caught.

@@CatvilleTNR Thank you for you time and energy in responding. im grateful, I love the feed in trap idea.. I have a place that will loan a trap, i will do what you suggest. and yes they have a place i can take mom on specific day/times. All I know is we need more TNR people in the community!! Now in 4 weeks, i will need to find a rescue to take 5 kittens! again TY for your advise!!!

Let me know when you're able to catch mom to get her in to fix her and I'll celebrate with you! Usually right when the kittens can first eat on their own is best.

Thank you for this video! I’ve been doing a lot of googling which probably looks weird in my search history about kittens gender since I’m always second guessing myself with the litter my harlequin cat had! This was actually very helpful compared to the other videos, now I can safely say my Peyote is a boy mom! Lol quite a few girly named ones she has.

    • @CatvilleTNR

She has white on her paws and belly and chin. I consider cats with white as well to be calicos. tortoise shells in my opinion are just the black and tan. I feel like going to identifying them for vet or rescue work and gets too confusing to try to quantify the amount of white that they have. So if they have white I call them a calico.

I was told I had a boy & a girl when I got them from the same litter. I believed who I got them from. When I picked them up after being spayed and neutered, the vet tech told me they did two spays. Excuse me!! Instead of having a Lilly and a Pete, I have a Lilly and a Petei!!

Yeah, orange ginger kittens are a lot more likely to be boys, but, two of my best cats had been female gingers and so they do happen (yeah, I think for a female ginger to be born, both mom and dad have to pass on the Ginger Gene. Oh, that was the cutest group picture of the kittens at the end.

If you can get to them when they are just born, or really young, it is easiest to tell the boys because their fur won't have come in yet. But thanks for this. With kitties, it can be really hard to tell unless the testicles are present. And if a male has been neutered, there is almost nothing there!

@@CatvilleTNR Where I come from, balls are called balls. Whether they're being thrown in a baseball field or bouncing along in the nether region of a tomcat. Good job explaining.
