It is really great that Denon provide access to (really great) professional gears to more people, with such of new features. This will force Pioneer, who was nearly alone on this market segment for too many years, to be urgently reactive. This new game, like we can observe with TV screens, will change the rules. The more you have competition, the less historic brands have monopoly. And among multiple others interesting points, this will be good for buyers who will now be able to have acces to more affordable products.

Yes, the SC5000 analyzes media on the hardware on the fly. During analysis the unit generates BPM, Key, Beatgrid and both overview and moving waveform. This process only happens the first time the track is introduced to the system so the next time the track is loaded, all of that data is immediately loaded as it is stored to the removable media.
That's IF it works right, and still doesn't address the fact that the current version of engine is horrible. So maybe on this player it's great, but if they don't make any headway towards supporting the SC3900 again, I will be selling all my denon gear and just buying more pioneer.

Just turned a 4 deck nexus system into a 2 deck system. Dj booths will love that. As will the owners wallets. If engine software works as well as rekordbox then pioneer should be worried.

Can you make a way that SC 5000 prime work with Traktor in HID mode like pioneer do? I really like your player but a won't change software because of the player. Is good to have Engine with selected tracks when I know exactly what I'm gonna play, but it's also good have the entire library to choose depending on public I have. I'm gonna change my gear in next months, and my choice won't be Pioneer or Denon, but the best gear for I play with Traktor or just a USB pendrive.
If that is the case, why won't they publicly say that? It seems that if your intention is to bring it to your flagship controller you will come out the box stating that it will. and why would their tech line say otherwise?

dope...all it needs is a Serato Flip like feature and a way to import rekordbox cues, loops, grids, and other track info if the goal is to give DJ's who live on CDJ's an alternative...without the capability to migrate from rekordbox to Engine Prime. Your asking those users to redo all library management which probably took months and even years for some to tame.
The only negative are the hot cue buttons could be larger and more spaced apart but overall well done let's see how the cue buttons feel and tactical abilities

Why would they put a touchscreen on a club standard device. The amount of sweat in the air has shorted out CDJs before. I imagine touchscreens would be pretty unusable?

While Denon could probably up their industrial design game (I always think Denon kit looks poorly designed and cheap compared to Pioneer gear) it seems Pioneer could really learn a thing or two about interface design from Denon... it looks like Denon have actually had professional app interface designers work on it... CDJ 2000s and onwards are a perfect example of why programmers shouldn't be allowed to design interfaces. Its interesting that Denon are beating Pioneer to the punch with features that people have been wanting on CDJs for a while (dual deck capability and performance pads)... yet Pioneer think adding huge screens to CDJs and mixers, that only the few are going to use, is somehow "progress". This looks like its going to force a bit of a player war! I'm a Pioneer fan but good on you Denon!

The same way they support front CD loading. If you look at the photos of the player, the USB port is in the front, but also under the player! This is a good design decision, because you can't reach the USB stick with hands.
Most standard sized USB sticks will fit and can travel while inserted, however, we're also including a USB extender cable in the box for taller drives that may stick out passed the front recess.
Stupid? As a club DJ, I've lost count the number of times girls have learned over the decks and snapped or knocked out the USB stick (not including the drunk guy who finds it amusing to reach over and pull the thing out!). Having these slots under the deck makes great sense. Nice touch Denon DJ!
DENON is one of my favourite, but somtimes , there are many small things that ruin the great machine. See 5:41 minute.This knob is terrible , bad quality. it is moving, shacking and maybe will last for day or two. I never saw DJ to touch that gentle. The knobs and buttons must be ROBUST, Denon. But unfortunatly all brands make crap products lately. It is a shame.
Not a pioneer killer at that price point. The features are nice but why would a club upgrade it's system. If it was to really make a dent it would have to read rekordbox play lists or have a way of converting them. If they made it spill proof or some amazing warranty for clubs to consider buying it. The end of the day unless clubs take it on board DJs won't use it. It will just be another good product that gets ignored. They also should of made a mixer that blows djm out of the water

Static platter that's too small. No thanks... I'll keep my V7s until something more like my SCS.1ds comes along. These people just can't think outside the box... The waveforms are still moving backward, counter to the platter rotation. Copy, copy, copy... it's all anyone knows, apparently.

Can you record a mix straight from the device?
you would need a mixer to mix between the two tracks and you could record off that. The unit itself has no way of mixing between the two tracks.
can you record live sets in WAV format?
you'd be recording the audio off your mixer so you could record to whatever format you were using to record off that.

no cuz I have the 1000s xs and I have seen them in clubs they work just fine no more or less sweat than using buttons on the 2000s
