I really like the slide on lid you put on the griddle! Great idea. Never tried the vinegar approach but like the concept. I personally use pickled and oiled mild steel since it's usually less expensive in my neck of the woods, and comes without millscale. Super nice.

That's really cool! Thanks for sharing that tip. Try using masking tape to dam the sides and get a deeper pool of vinegar. 👍

I use muriatic acid, it's much faster than vinegar. It also removes galvanized coatings! Spray it on, wait 3mins, hose it off!

Alan, you may want to put paper towels next time around the edges even on top and soak it with the vinegar keep up the good work

Yeah, Allen vinegar is acidic, the acid eats the mill scale off, a dilluted muratic will work much faster, but I don`t know if I would cook on it. Those grills are a work of art Allen, I wish I lived closer, I just can`t justify $1,000 to get it to Michigan, love your work, you and your family, have a very Merry Christmas.

Out of curiosity what model HTP welder do you have? I know you’ve used your for at least two years maybe three. I don’t remember you having trouble with your machine. Have you had any problems you didn’t show on video? I’m asking because I’m eyeballing the hell out of the pro pulse 220. And you running the piss out of your machine has been the best tool review for me. Thanks

The Home Depot sells industrial strength 30% vinegar.

  • @johnnesci4433

You could try mixing the vinegar with some flour and make a paste and put it on the spots that are not level that might work for you

Cleaning vinegar is a stronger 30% solution. You could also try concrete etching solution that uses phosphoric acid. It is a little stronger. You can find it at Home Depot.
