Hi, I am seriously considering the purchase of a contessa 26. I have owned larger yachts and am ‘down sizing’ My one worry is engine access - especially at sea. Can I ask how you found engine access ? For changing impeller, cleaning filters, tensioning belts at sea ? And also shore jobs like oil changes etc ? Thanks
Hi Skipper Wild, the inboard engine was already removed when I got the boat. I used a 4hp outboard to get in and out of port. Worked fine, but an inboard would be better. The engine compartment is small as you say. I would imagine making a watertight removable cockpit floor with heavy duty bolts would help access. It also depends on what engine is fitted. Some engines are more serviceable than others I would think. A fixed oil pump and creating easy access to filters is probably the most importent. I suggest you ask in the Contessa 26 group on Facebook. Many helpful Contessa owners there ready to help. Good luck!
Absolutely beautiful done ,thanks for sharing. Greetings from Hawaii islands 🏝
Love these boats they are amazing.
stunningly tidy
Molto bella, complimenti!
That is a beauty Dude!
Where would I find if any of these are on the market? Of course, only VERY VERY few would be as good as your! Super Job!
lovely sailboat
You dont need that boat.
Could you ship it over to my place?
Please
That second handle at the back of the cockpit - is it a manual bilge pump or a pump to drain the cockpit itself?
The brass one was the bilge pump. The other was the control lever for the engine.

@@DanielNovello Is there any active Contessa 26 group on Facebook? I haven't found any... You have beautiful boat, congrats.
engine access is easy, no problem at all changing belts or pump impellers at sea, you can even get at the anode if you need to! @contessa26-jim
Just wish the canteen was nearer the hatch so much easier to pass nosh and teas up to the crew
Is it for sale? No pun intended. Is it on the market?
Hi, sold her about a year ago.
What's the headroom in the cabin?
Very nice by the way.
Hi, thanks for the comment. The headroom is ca 1.73 at the tall end near the companionway. Read more here:
