Love those outtakes... And Wow!...love that road trip itinerary. I wish I could squeeze a post card or two from that incredible trip for my collection! So glad you get to see more of Europe this time. Makes the trip worth so much more. I'll be catching the livestreams for Worlds and following along with your journey. Wish I could transport myself to Spain... but I will be watching in my cozy office in Alberta, Canada! Your enthusiasm and joy for puzzling makes yours one of the top puzzling channels on TH-cam. Keep up the joy!
I can't remember the last time I sent a postcard but when I travelled a lot for work, I sent one to my nephew and he still has the collection today! Thank you so much for all the support and love! I really appreciate it. You'll have fun watching the livestreams.
Great video Donnalouise! I’m so excited for you and Janette - it’s going to be great! ❤ you were asking what kind of puzzles to practice next? Maybe some vertical ones (not polygon lion - burn that thing!! 😂)
I have 2 vertical ones from Alison to practice and the one from the NZJPA competition to redo as well. Great suggestion! Janette and I will be missing you so much this year. xxxx
Rather than trying to calm my nerves, I've sometimes found that having a mini freak-out helps. Shake out your whole body, make faces, weird sounds...(a bathroom might work best, lol). It feels like the nervous energy is spent and is less likely to bubble up at the wrong time. Also, the silliness can just make you laugh and that's usually a good thing. Glad you're feeling and sounding better! 😄💙🧩
I agree that this might actually help me. But we need to be ready at our tables like 5 mins in advance. Perhaps I can go have a full body shake before then and get to my table. But let's face it, I'll be a shaking mess not matter what I do hehehehe And yes, I am feeling much better thanks!
Great video and love the puzzles you practiced with! The box top holder looks awesome and, like you, it’s such a good idea to create a holder that pivots. I can’t believe we’re all leaving for Worlds in less than a month!! I can’t wait to see everyone!
Having fun and focus on the experience is a good strategy. I would go nuts in an competition. 😅 I wish you and the team to have the best and funniest time of your life. 🎉
Great practice puzzles. I think your times are pretty good. I think a good strategy could be taking a couple of minutes to study the image and soak it all in before starting. I know for speed puzzling purposes is not the best thing to do but, it would give you a good head start on where the main things are and how to search for pieces. An idea of your travel blog, try to do a jigsaw duel Timelapse in every town you stop at. Like a couple of 100 piece puzzles. You and Janette and then put it on your IG page😊❤
That's not bad at all - I'd rather 2 minutes of looking at the image than 2 minutes of fighthing with my hands trying to open the box! Good idea about the duals - just we won't really have any smaller piece count puzzles with us. I'm actually not bringing any with me (apart from the ones that I am gifting to people). I just want to have room to bring back all the puzzles from Worlds and more from Germany.
Hi Donnalouise, I am going to Worlds representing Belgium,. Not in the top class, but hoping to finish in the alloted time. I let Stijn represent Belgium with more class🙂
That looks a great box top holder and does the job that you wanted it to do. That cat alphabet is a little harder than you think for. I did that myself a while ago and it took me 1hr 45mins which I was happy with. I'm sure you will enjoy the Claire Comerford one. I've done a good few of her puzzles. Good luck for Spain, I'll be glued to my computer trying to spot everyone.
I will be there!! Representing Australia 🇦🇺 Also not a speed puzzler (even less of a speed puzzler than you!) but so excited to experience the atmosphere and have fun. I’ll definitely come and say hi to you and Janette!
Nice!!! Take it all in as it is quite the experience - you are going to have so much fun! Definitely make sure to come up and say hi, and sign my book!
Cool box top holder! It's definitely something I've been thinking about lately. As a fellow standing puzzler, I think my ideal angle is around 30 degrees off the table (+/- depending on lighting), which is maybe even further down than that ones goes, but that might require an even more cumbersome structure.
I'm not sure what the angle is on this one but it's been working really well for me. This one could probably tilt even more with some simple modification.
Brilliant idea to recreate the competition conditions. I was shocked to hear the increase in the number of registrations this year! Well, not really - we’ve all known the draw of puzzling; the rest of the world is finally catching on 😎 I hope to make it next year. Also love the box top holder! Maybe they could make it of interlocking pieces, so it’s collapsible.
So many more people this year - it's going to be crazy!!! If they could redesign the box top holder slightly to be able to interlock firmly but also ship flat, that would be genius!
Great video yet again and great times! I am always astonished by the way you are puzzling and how quick you can puzzle like this😃Hope you will have fun in the Worlds and with your whole trip to Europe. Unfortunately I cannot be in the Worlds representing Czech Republic but maybe next time? 🤷♀ What I am sure of is that there are so many more quick speed puzzlers from Czech Republic that I will not be missed there with my slow times🤣 Have a great day👋
CZ represents very well at Worlds with some amazing fast puzzlers!!! If you can get to Worlds one day, I say do it! Just for the experience - it's so much fun!!
Love that box top stand. A suggestion for the maker of it, it will be easier to pack to both take up less space in your suitcase as well as less likely to get crushed and broken would be if it can be disassembled and reassembled. Basically, turn it into a flat pack. That's probably how they mean to ship it to customers, but instead of having the customers glue it together permanently, shape the tabs to come apart and go back together.
They are thinking of how to make it so it can be disassembled and reassembled easily for shipping. They just want to make sure it keeps its sturdiness. 💜🧩
Hey Donnalouise, I've been watching you for years and now I spontaneously decided to go to World's as well.. wishing you lots of luck and hoping to meet you in person!! :)
You're coming to Worlds!! YEAH!!! Definitely please come up and find Janette and I to say hi and a chat. Will you also do pairs and teams?? It's going to be so much fun!
@@fortheloveofpuzzles Yes! I speak fluent Spanish so I'm looking for a Spanish team and partner right now, I'm coming completely on my own and a little hesitant because it looks like a lot of people are coming with friends and family.. seems a bit daunting to be honest! But I'm really excited, have been watching live streams previously (and your videos from last year!) and it'll be exciting to actually be there.. oh and I'm representing Poland btw! :)
@@voopeem Speaking Spanish will be a benefit for you! So many people went alone last year and made so many new friends - our teammates Stijn and Siobhán did and look at them now! You will make friends and make sure to come say hi to Janette and me. We love meeting everyone! And if you want, sign up for the volunteer program, you will meet tons of people that way also.
For the box top holder, if weight is an issue, since the inside is hollow, you could use a bean bag or something else with a bit of weight (heck, even a rock would do the trick) to help weigh it down. ;)
Great video! So many fun puzzles! I love the "A Paris Evening", but it seems like it is from 2015 and no longer available to purchase. Although, maybe "Evening in Paris" is a good substitute.
Yes, those nerves will get in the way, for sure! Hope you can conquer them! Speed puzzling looks like fun, but I can't really do it. My vision is pretty poor closeup, and I can't stand and lean over a table for more than a couple of minutes. I'd have to be more like, oh, I forgot her name, the gal who did so good in individuals a couple years ago, just sitting and puzzling with only one hand!
I have some ravensburger jigsaw puzzles of my own :) . There’s nothing to worry about this competition in Spain, I will be cheering for you as you puzzle whichever what picture you have to assemble. Will they be presenting a 1,500 piece jigsaw puzzle this year? I only have one ravensburger of my own. The picture is hard to explain :( . Good luck and have fun!

We’re happy to support you! Best of luck in the 2024 World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship Competition!💛

Sadly still a long distance from my place. I wish you save and fun travels on your journey to spain.
