I’ve been on a Mint 5G plan for 5 months and am very pleased. I used Visible for about a year and liked it until I traveled to Canada and had no coverage at all. As someone who travels internationally at least once a year, that was an issue. I realize that Mint is not cheap for international data and I use other ESims for travel but at least I have access for international phone calls if needed on Mint. You can preload your Mint plan with International phone credits before you go, so I just put $20 on the account and I am ready for my next trip.
Mint Mobile has been fantastic for me. It's annoying you pay for a lot upfront in 3-6 month increments but at least you're done and don't worry about the bill for a while.
I had a similar experience! I was blown away at how quick and easy it was to switch!! It took me like 8 minutes to transfer everything over by myself! It’s been good coverage for me so far!!!
Been using mint since Feb this year. Switched from ATT after seeing how low the price was in comparison. Was extremely easy to swap over and keep my number. Just got a new samsung flip 5 and it was super easy to deactivate the physical sim in old phone, and set up esim with the new phone.
I've been with Mint mobile since 2017 when they were MintSim, and have had excellent service, and also saved quite a bit when compared to what others were paying the big 3.
If people can get in the habit of paying cash for their phone. Then using using a prepaid service like mint mobile is awesome! I did the math if I kept financing one phone on a phone plan with the remainder of that 22 months versus paying it off and switching to mobile. Over the 22 months we would be saving a lot of money by switching to Mint
Had ATT for years then switched to Google Fi (5+ years) then to Mint (2 years). I like Mint - made the change to save on mobile service costs. It might not be the best if you travel outside the USA often but I buy international credit (as an emergency backup) and then purchase a local sim card in the country I visit to mitigate loss of Mint service.
I tried Mint Mobile for 6 months and it was absolutely fantastic. I would definitely switch over if I ever get kicked off this great grandfathered plan I have on another provider 😂
I’ve had Mint Mobile for three years. It’s fantastic. Not sure why everyone doesn’t at least try it. $15 unlimited? That’s crazy. I can’t even get that price because I’m not a new subscriber. I think you wind up paying $180 for the year, upfront with taxes, etc. It feels like not having a phone bill.
@@TravisMCP miss ur reviews. Especially iOS n android comparisons. Would love a deep dive into native apps: calendar, notes, voice memos etc. not telling you how to live your life, lol
New Mint subscribers can get the first year for only $90 (and pay no fees), at least with the 5GB plan, most don't use more than that anyway and if you do, your speed is just throttled down a bit. After the first year you pay $180 and then also have to pay the fees which like $20.
I'm coming up on three years with Mint and no issues. I don't use my phone that often, sometimes I even forget to take it with me when I leave the house so the 5G plan is fine. Could've went with the bigger companies but when you look at it, it's not worth it. ( 35 a month unlimited but you have to have four lines, so 140.00 a month ) I pay once a year 180,00 plus taxes and fees so about 200.00 a YEAR. There are people out there paying close to that a month for maybe a few extra features they never use/don't know about. Never going back to the big three.
So I fixed the issue I had with them and now the service works. They have to be the number 1 sim in your phone. I was having service with Verizon. I tried them to add a line to my phone. I had the eSim with Mint first on my S22 Ultra, but then I got Google Fi eSim, so I got Mints physical sim inatead. Even my phone can hold multiple eSims, it can only use 1 eSim at a time. Once I figured out my phone and put Mint in my older phone, S8+, now it's working just fine... Thanks for your video Travis!!! You are right. It works very well. I got the $15 for 3 months. With taxes it was like $54 total.
I pay about $10 a month and my unused data rolls over (if I manually enable that each month) with Tello. Sometimes I pay a little more if I'm too close to having 10 GBs socked away and want more buffer just in case. One downside is that 5G doesn't work on my Pixel 7 for some reason. I've considered Mint as an alternative, especially if I start spending closer to $15 a month than $10 a month on a regular basis. Every penny counts these days.
I'm considering switciing from AT&T to Mint Mobile simply for the money I'd save by getting a 3 month plan for cheaper than 1 months bill for AT&T. I've used a one week trial in an unlocked Motorola phone, and to my surprise, it got 5g+ on my data(which I'd never even heard of). Which is mind blowing when you consider that Verizon in my area still doesn't even have regular 5g speeds yet. I am on a tight budget so this is a great option for me. I'm really surprised that this service isn't more well known for the insane value it offers at such low prices.
Yeah I was surprised as well which is why I made this video. Easy way to save money and get good service. Feel free to use my link if you end up signing up so Mint knows partnering with me was a good idea. :P
This was awesome Travis. I know friends and former coworkers who use Mint and love it. The commercials are funny and awesome too. I can’t wait for the Amazon Renewed video
I love Mint Mobile. I see no reason to pay for one of the big plans for a large amount of people. Buying an amazon renewed flagship from a couple years ago and using Mint Mobile is the way to have a mobile setup. You OWN your device, you don't owe anything to anybody, and your device will be more fun to use than a new budget phone.
I have a family plan with T. And a separate phone for my kid because I already have the max phones on my account. I would be interested in finding out how much it would cost for the whole family plan to be switched over with the additional phone.
I just went from Metro to Mint and the coverage is even better than Metro. Definitely Tmobile speeds. I will stay with them for 3 months and then see if I will extend.
I had Google Fi in 2017 and they used T Mobile. I was in the hospital for a week and couldn't get any cell phone reception at all or service and this is a big city. Is T Mobile better now 2024?
I have AT&T and have 5 phones on my plan. The representative blatantly lied to me when I signed up for the 5th line by saying I get a free S21 FE with that line. It wasn't free since I noticed a $10 charge per month charge on my bill. I also upgraded two phones to the S23 Ultra because of the $800 trade in discount if paying for each over 36 months. That is their ploy to lock you into their plan for 3 years. Unfortunately, one of the returns got lost in the mail using their return label. They won't give me the discount on the second phone. I'm stuck with AT&T for now since I'll have to pay close to $3,000 to get out of that contract. I am currently paying $210 per month with all discounts applied. That's not too bad but I'm breaking up my phone plans and signing up for Mint Mobile as soon as those phones are paid up. My sons can sign up for their own plans and I can end up with two phones max on a plan.
I would say it depends .. What I mean by that is Mint mobile is owned by T-Mobile and if T-Mobile is bad in your area then it's not going to magically get better. Same can be said for a MNVO like Visible that is owned by Verizon. In any case, if you want the best overall service and connection and reliability, especially for data, is important than I would skip any MNVO and go directly to the OEM companies themselves.
I too have just saw the mint mobile and I want to switch. I wanted to ask you Travis why did you buy the phone from Amazon? I see that mint has phones. I like they have a 55+ plan too. I want my number to remain the same but I want a new phone from mint so is it 15 a month plus a payment on the phone?
I have had Mint for three years now. I get the unlimited plan for $360/yr and I have no issues. I cannot imagine how much the big three would charge me for the same service. I do not need free HBO, Netflix, etc.
As a small business who built cell towers, for a few years, I was always reminded that a phone would cost 22 dollars to power up, I get more people have phones, these days, but 15 dollars a month, I am looking into that, that sound great !!!
Tmobile is usually trash in my area but I know they have been working on making it better. I'm actually testing out Mint to see if it is. Hopefully 🤞🏼 🍀 💜
I wanted to try their service but my older brother had them and told me he had horrible customer service trying to fix his service not receiving calls and text
I signed up, doesn't work no matter what I have tried and Mint support has auto-hung up on me 9 times now.....10th time 65 minutes waiting ...and live agent promised agent and sent me back to silly virtual bot. Will Mint chat hang up on me a 10th time today? Give it a few minutes. So far no cell service and no support service.
Im confused, So it's $15 a month unlimited erthang for a new customer but you have to pay upfront for 3 months? Also after the 3 months is over how much is it going to be ?
Cool seeing you again, you know I use Mint Mobile for my second line and I love it. I use T-Mo for my main line, I'm paying more money and the speeds are always slower than Mint when I test it. When my MLS Season Pass is over, I'm going to Mint for both lines. Thx
I used a different MVNO for many years. Unfortunately, when I switched to the iPhone 14 (eSim), I discovered that only the major phone providers had the ability to port your existing number over to eSim. MVNOs couldn't do it. You had to get a new number. I'm wondering if that has changed.
Mint mobile really isn’t worth it. I pay $30 a month for 40GB. After that. I get no hotspot (even when I barely use it and pay for it). I live in a major city and get 2 bars at most. I get hung up on when I try to call and talk to support. Mint mobile is great as long as you don’t have any problems that needs addressing.
Great to see you, Travis. (Miss that old intro.."RIGHT AFTER THIS!" lol) I've been considering mint mobile for my cellular iPad mini 6. I'd be curious to find out if I can get an eSim for the iPad even though it has a sim tray. Great video. Can't wait to see your coverage of the Apple line up in the fall.
I went to Vegas the first time in like over 15 years and hated it. So crowed and expensive, resort fees added to the room prices and even charged parking fees at the resort. I'm never going there again.
Hi Travis! I’m so glad you did this review and I’ve heard good things about mint mobile in passing before. Had been considering switching to them. The plan pricing is def attractive & cheaper than my current wireless plan. Two follow up questions though. Family plans? And are those equally impressive cost wise? Apple Watch support for cellular models?? This last one is especially important to me since I use an Apple Watch on cellular whenever I leave my phone behind in specific circumstances. When exercising or biking for example. I had read somewhere once that only the major carriers support Apple Watch but maybe that’s changed.
Yes they do have family plans. Unsure about watch support, that's a good question. I don't see anything on their site about it but it could be a 'hidden' option
We have been thinking of switching but have decided to hold off for a while to see what happens now that T-Mobile owns Mint. So far Mint look promising. We currently have Republic Wireless (now Boost). We chose Republic because they were early supporters of WIFI calling that is a fantastic feature here in terrain challenged NH but that was discontinued when Dish bought them..
I just switched from Metro to Mint unlimited and bought the 3 months plan for 45 dollars. It's the exact same coverage and better than Metro. It's definitely Tmobile speeds. I haven't had any issues in the 6 weeks I've had it. However, it goes up after 3 months.
But.... Will you still use Mint Mobile after 3 months, because then you pay the SAME amount as your current plan that is costing you 3 Times as much? Since it is also on new activations.... well that 15 dollars sounds great, for now....
He did sell. But there probably is a set time that they still get to use him for publicity before he completely exits. He only held a small stake in the company anyway but was great for the ads.
@@Resist4 I feel like 25% is more than a small stake. Still, it wasn't a controlling share so he didn't "own" the company like my friend said he did. But it's a moot point now.
Dear Travis first of all, thanks a bunch for resurfacing on this, Your channel Here in Switzerland where everything, literally everything costs a fortune (for example the gasoline 1 gallon is Swiss francs 6.84 equals 7.77$) we have something similar. I pay 24.95 Swiss Francs (Salt is the carrier) equals 28.35 $ a month. Which doesn’t sound like a good deal, but usually the people pay between 59 and 79 SFr. equals 67 and 89 $ a month. As You‘ve said You‘re from Seattle (Washington) with an average of 300 rainy days in a year, I almost felt sorry for You, since I‘m rider of a motorcycle started in 1984 and CAN‘T IMAGINE 300 rainy days each and every year, although here in Switzerland we‘ve got our share of wet days, which I do NOT REALLY LOVE AS A BIKER. I MORE THAN HOPE, TO SEE YOU FROM NOW ON FORWARD, ON A REGUALAR BASIS. Have a wonderful days Andrej
I tried them two different times on two different phones, both with physical sim and esim, neither one would work. And I was using unlocked S22 and S23 ultras. I just stuck with att prepaid for 30 a month.
I thought about going to Mint Mobile, but it using T-Mobile network. And yes that they have more 5G towers, but in the west part of the U.S and most of the coastline don't work or at least not very good. Verizon's networks better and Viable uses Verizon's network.
@@TravisMCP.. Visible is owned by Verizon and Mint is owned by T-Mobile. The only problem with any MNVO is when you come to the governed data cap limits. My cellular service is directly through Verizon my average business transaction is close to a million dollars, but if I didn't care about a dropped call or difficulty in any way then MNVO's makes sense, especially for people on budgets.
When one does a look up on line for Mint Mobile it shows the company is an independently ran company. It part of T-Mobile USA. Mint Mobile is a virtual company Founded in 2016, Mint Mobile functions as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). It runs on T-Mobile's cellular network, which means it uses T-Mobile's network but isn't owned by the company.
Good to see you Travis!! I am definitely tempted to switch to Mint Mobile. Very tempting price! We are currently paying two lines for $60 with Total Wireless (now Total by Verizon). I have just heard bad things about T Mobile network in Colorado and that is the only thing keeping me from switching providers.
A few years ago I stopped at the phone Kiosk in Costco and I was considering T-Mobile, the worker said it's terrible in this area. Ultimately went home and did more research and went with T-Mobile, I found it was no worse than AT&T was here. So when I learned that Mint used T-Mobile towers I wasn't worried.
I love Mint mobile for years, I'm worried that they're bought. I can't wait for the "exciting new changes" email that means I have to look elsewhere someday.
Btw, watching your Amazon Renewed videos, so I'm getting ready to buy an iPhone 12 Pro. To replace my 13, which is crap. I found Amazon also sells Renewed phones themselves. Plus they give you a one year money back. Unlike the 3rd Party vendors that give you 90 days. I figure you can't go wrong with this. And if the screen has too many micro abrasions, I'll send it back right away. Thanks again.
They will charge whatever the current pricing is (which depends on which plan pick). For example, if you want to keep the unlimited plan, it is $30 a month which is still way cheaper than unlimited plans from most other providers.
It's OK until you need help, then look out. The service people, though they know a lot of English words, don't know how to pronounce any of them. I got zero help.
I had Mint Mobile and was dissapointed so I switched to Visible after 3 months. Visible has better service, customer service, and I don’t have to pay 3-12 months up front, locking me in. Visible is way better than Mint!
Got a mint mobile ad when I clicked on this video 😂

@@exposingliars9824 how much do you pay now ?
I currently am using a refurbished Amazon phone.
This is really tempting me. I’ve been considering switching over to Mint for a few months now.
But.... Will you still use Mint Mobile after 3 months, because then you pay the SAME amount as your current plan that is costing you 3 Times as much? Since it is also on new activations.... well that 15 dollars sounds great, for now....
Not true, even after the promo price it's still WAY cheaper than what I currently pay.
I have enjoyed Visible...the Verizon version but it is $25. If I am not mistaken, mint is based on AT&T.
Owned by T-Mobile.
Before they were owned by T-Mobile they used T-Mobile's towers, so now it made sense the T-Mobile would end up merging with them.
Thought Ryan sold all his shares and isn’t a owner anymore. Curious to see what the data speeds are after 40gb.
Good question. I'll see if I can test it in the future on an Amazon renewed video.
It says 45 dollars for three months though.
Dear Travis
first of all, thanks a bunch for resurfacing on this, Your channel
Here in Switzerland where everything, literally everything costs a fortune (for example the gasoline 1 gallon is Swiss francs 6.84 equals 7.77$) we have something similar.
Have a wonderful days
Andrej
I tried them two different times on two different phones, both with physical sim and esim, neither one would work. And I was using unlocked S22 and S23 ultras. I just stuck with att prepaid for 30 a month.
Interesting. It worked fine with the S23 ultra. I used ESIM and had it up and running in minutes.
I thought about going to Mint Mobile, but it using T-Mobile network. And yes that they have more 5G towers, but in the west part of the U.S and most of the coastline don't work or at least not very good. Verizon's networks better and Viable uses Verizon's network.
Oh yay another rare Travis video!
Definitely plan on trying
Does it work with a phone you already have
So this was a 5 min Mint Mobile ad?
I’m on Visible and coverage is terrible. Been thinking about going back to ATT.
who does the coverage for visible
@@TravisMCP Verizon.
Verizon
I have mint on my s23U which is my second line, I love them!
Missed your takes on things
When one does a look up on line for Mint Mobile it shows the company is an independently ran company. It part of T-Mobile USA. Mint Mobile is a virtual company
Founded in 2016, Mint Mobile functions as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
Eagerly waiting on your take on the S 23 Ultra
This weekend!
Great topic. Let's watch.
Btw I'd suggest a better title:
Mint Mobile: The Truth
or simply
The Truth Behind Mint Mobile
Tech is back
Rip those in the middle of nowhere with no internet connection trying to get a carrier to have internet…
My brother is currently leaving at and t to go with mint mobile sounds like a good deal
Send him the link. See what he thinks. (That rhymes)
Cool video but when a creator says they’ve partnered with the company they’re reviewing it kinda makes me second guess the information I’m getting.
You'll notice that even after this video I still am talking about Mint. And will continue to do so. It's a great value.
I love Mint mobile for years, I'm worried that they're bought. I can't wait for the "exciting new changes" email that means I have to look elsewhere someday.
I wouldn't worry. T-Mobile has done right by MVNO's they have bought before. So far things look fine. We shall see.
The one good thing they did was increased my 4GB plan to 5GB at no extra cost. I'm hopeful T-Mobile doesn't mess up this gem.
I brought it at your prompting, thanks
Let me know how it goes!
Did you use the link I provided? Just want to make sure you get taken care of.
@@TravisMCP I don't remember, it was too long ago
It’s tempting Travis great price 👍
Btw, watching your Amazon Renewed videos, so I'm getting ready to buy an iPhone 12 Pro. To replace my 13, which is crap. I found Amazon also sells Renewed phones themselves. Plus they give you a one year money back. Unlike the 3rd Party vendors that give you 90 days. I figure you can't go wrong with this. And if the screen has too many micro abrasions, I'll send it back right away. Thanks again.
Yup, I'm doing a iPhone 12 renewed review in a week or so.
@@TravisMCP Sweet!
Shout out to " professional tech TH-camr" Travz. Can't wait for the renewed video player
Working on it!
you have the dope mini coke machine, saw a review of one last night but that priceeeee
It's great, but yeah, spendy.
Travis, you better be careful testing that mint mobile on the the S23 Ultra...you just may fall in love again, the phone is sweeeet! ✌️
Review coming soon!
@@TravisMCP great!
AFERT TREE MONTH THEY WILL CHARGE MORE THAT DOBBLE THE PRICE BECAREFULL...................................
They will charge whatever the current pricing is (which depends on which plan pick). For example, if you want to keep the unlimited plan, it is $30 a month which is still way cheaper than unlimited plans from most other providers.
But after 3 months, no more $15 ?
Depends on your plan.
What's the price on an unlimited plan after 3 months???
@@charliepatterson9321 Depends on how you pay: www.mintmobile.com/product/03-month-unlimited-sim-card-plan/
Um Ryan sold it btw
I'm aware.
I hope you realize now that the s23 ultra is better than the 14 pro max and it's no comparison the s23 ultra is the best phone ive ever had
You should be a little more transparent about Mint. It's now owned by T-Mobile US and Ryan is now a spokesperson for Mint.
I was as transparent as I could be. Also being owned by T-Mobile is a good thing so I consider this a positive.
It's OK until you need help, then look out. The service people, though they know a lot of English words, don't know how to pronounce any of them. I got zero help.
Good video
I had Mint Mobile and was dissapointed so I switched to Visible after 3 months. Visible has better service, customer service, and I don’t have to pay 3-12 months up front, locking me in. Visible is way better than Mint!
doo doo info
Now disclose how much they have paid for two video's $50,000? 😂sell out
