If you was after a bigger gun for spot repair give the iwata impact junior a look as well I also have one of these great gun If you want a good review on it have a look at tonys Refinishing he did a review on it 👍
Do you plan to buy/make PS-275 review? It's both - similar and very different beast from what I've seen and would be interesting to hear your opinion on that one.
Just arrived, looking forward to using this to spray primers and clear coats. I haven't used it yet due to the wet weather here, but the quality out of the box in my hands is the same as Iwata.
WOW that is a bit of a beast, you could use that for doing smart repairs on cars 😂 very nice gun though Rob and I think that one might be what I need for painting small parts or as you say alloy wheels. The wheels on my SLK are highly polished then clear coated but they are corroding and the clear is lifting, I'm not sure how to tackle them at home as if I want them polished again then they will need a complete strip and polish before DTM clearcoat. The only other option is to sand them and fill the corroded parts then colour them with a base, any ideas would be appreciated Rob 🤔 thanks mate 👍
Yeah you are right it's the best way but I do love the wheels on my old SLK plus they are quite rare so I've been told but for a DIY job the base and clear is best. I'm in the middle of detailing the car, just stripped all the old wax off and used a fallout remover, next is a clay bar then compound and finish off with a quality ceramic coating.
@@dredfxcustompaint this is going to be my first airbrush upgrade. Glad that I run into your review. just waiting for the item to be ship here. thanks for doing the review! Really appreciate it! 🤙😉
Love my ps-290 for coverage, was hoping to spray the createx uvls clears and lk topcoats but really struggles with them despite reducing. Any chance of a strip down and clean video?
Hello, I really hope you see this message and help me. I have just had two PS290's through my hands in the last few days and both have a bad fan spray pattern. They both give a strong top and bottom line with very little paint in the middle, sprayed at 20 & 30 psi. Is this normal for the PS290? I see your one also has a very uneven pattern. Do you think the Iwata Hi-Line HP-TH would give a better fan pattern? I sprayed lacquer on furniture with a fan gun for many years, so know what a fan should look like. Hoping you can help.
Give the cap a good clean on the air holes for start off then thin the paint down a bit then spray and adjust your pressure see what happens. To get a clean fan you need to be spraying about 3 inch from the panel you should get the pattern to around 2 and a half inch hope this helps 👍
Hi I cannot say I have ever had tip dry with this the only thing you have to keep clean is the caps especially the fan cap The two air holes can get blocked sometimes but I usually soak the caps in thinners
@@dredfxcustompaint Cool but I guess this fit more for people that spray large areas. Maybe people that build a lot of 1/16th scale tanks or 1/32th scale plane kits.
Just ordered one of these to cover larger areas on my backgrounds and also for varnishing 👍
Thanks for the nice review. Your explanations and display of how this brush works are valuable. Thanks again.

Great review and your absolutely correct on how great this works especially if your priming pieces which work effortlessly!

Sand back and paint silver mate when you have the polished rims all it takes is a stone chip and it will do the same again thats what i would do 👍

Great gun , what compressor would you recommend ? I have a 150 litre for my mini guns but looking to get into a few air brushes
@@lockstocky2800 use your big compressor that's what I do for my studio and just turn the regulator down

Does your air compressor have a high CFM? If this is like the Iwata TH airbrush it requires a CFM above 1.2 for the fan pattern I believe.
