Really enjoy your videos! It's cool to watch outside prospectives on tools that are so commonplace in the states.
I am actually gonna go buy the smaller set of these today... I have some larger cable cutters but they are too damn heavy.
I'm in the states, trust me I hate Phillip's tips more then yall do. Everything over here is Phillips.

I would call them...cable shears Dan as they cut with a 'shearing' action, but that is a personal thing.
They are perfect for cables like FP 200 and for use by an electrician for 25mm meter tails.
Also for similar sized cables on vehicle battery leads, battery cables on fire pump sets.
The benefit that you omitted is that unlike using diaganal type cutters (or pliers that don't use a shearing action) is that as they cut with a shearing action, the cable end you have cut does not fly off into the abyss !
Also, the idea is to use the cable shear that is intended to cut in a single action as opposed to two or three attempts , that way, the shearing action gives a clean cut, non shearing action cutters compress the strands and do not give a clear 90 deg cut with strand lengths being the same length.
Try cutting a 25mm flex-tail with non shearing cutters and compare the ends of the cable when cut with 'cable shears'
I had a weak Klein moment myself today...tool tote and insulated staple gun and a few screwdrivers, not tested yet.

Yep shears I'd agree, if I start using words like shear though the Welsh sheep comments start coming in lol. Tell you what oyley I don't think there is a video I make where I don't think after, ah I should have said that, loads of editing goes into each one, always need a balance of keeping git short and getting all th ifonin, but yeah definately a good point

    • @oyleyhands1332

@@danstoolroom7700 You cannot forget the word 'shear' with your accent...I heard that you have to leave areas on the sheep clear of shearing to allow good grip on that woolly stuff, also wear boots with wider tops for the hind legs.
Other than text overlays you are getting really good at video edits..I did not spot any ! they are totally seamless 😉
Although I do buy Klein tools and like them..may even be collecting some today if I get out.
The same tool by Bahco are 12.65 (160mm) and 15,65 (200mm for essentially the same tools ! but in orange as opposed to fire engine red.
Virtually all cable shears have thet 'stop' inside of the handles, klein,CK ,Bahco, Stanley, Knipex, even the cheaper Chinese offerings, not that I would entertain the cheap Chinese offerings.
You could add in the 240mm Bahco shears at 21.75 and still have change and no extra 'chomping' on those larger diameter cables, plus they all get good reviews..I have some Bahco cable shears and there have no complaints....49.95 for all three, delivered , three for the price of two. 😁 still less than two Klein units.
And as my pocket is buying them....I would have a substantial saving to spend on more tool !!
And...they look, apart from the colour just the same, even down to the more pronounced curve of the handles on the 160mm units..who here in the UK would not want that saving for the sake of the' name'..and Bahco do have a 'name' over here.
Don't forget...you cannot just buy one pair from Loadout as they have a minimum spend limit, and even that failed when I tried to spend more that that !
Horses for courses and like yourself..if I only were to carry one pair, it would be the larger pair, multiple 'chomps' do not give a neat cut, having said that, what are the largest cables that you would likely to be cut in your role ? I would say the 160mm units would be more than adequate..fire and alarm cables ? even pyro should you ever use it.
I would suggest a 'back to back' comparison with the Bahco options but you can't really do that anymore, that would be more objective as opposed to subjective 😉

They certainly look up to the job, I do like the built-in stripping function, none of my sets have that, they are just basic shears. I think you had a bit easier time as the larger cables you were cutting were flexible fine multi-strand cables. They may well have struggles with some of the hard drawn copper cables I use, that have larger strands. To be fair, when we get up to much larger cables we use ratchet style shears.

    • @danstoolroom7700
      @danstoolroom7700 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah to be fair my knowledge of different cables is limited as the different types of cables we use are limited in fire and security. I just asked my father in law to get me some different sized cable from work
