The Job Market is in CRISIS MODE! NO ON IS GETTING HIRED!

- Even though on the surface, these red hot jobs reports and relatively low unemployment look good to the fed and our government there's a lot happening beneath the surface that they could care less to look into. As long as these headline figures come out looking OK they'll just keep on saying the economy is great.

The economy is not booming. My jaw dropped to the floor when yesterday I received an email that my Home Insurance will go up from $640 to $1200 ... I literally cried. Sick of this bullshit.
If you had a claim you might expect that your rates would rise. However, insurance company's costs are escalating and like most business will past the costs to the consumer.

They fire a full time worker and hire 3 part time workers. What a scam

That employer loves part timers because they can pay them less AND pay no benefits.
HR should be first on the fire list.
Really, they are mostly undesirables who got their position by knowing someone.

The shutdowns, PPP loans, and printing $8 Trillion did this.

Job market sucks right now!!! Never seen it this bad. They are LYING!
Agreed! Tech is the worst I've ever seen it.
Blame the corporations; they're the ones giving the FED bad data.
It's unemployment insurance fraud. They create ghost jobs so they can pump up their (employment to job vacancy) that they provide to each state.
This allows them to tout 'big job numbers' and get a tax-deduction towards the state unemployment fund.
HR are given directions to perform 'interview' quotas so that the state can't prosecute them for fraud.
On top of that, the economy sucks.
The job market has always been bad for some people.

Retired & worked for Lowe’s: Lowe’s strategy is to keep 98% of all employees part-time, with this they avoid having to provide benefits and laying off people. Instead of layoffs where they would have to pay for unemployment they just reduce your hours to nothing so you leave.

The lady across from me says her husband doesn't like her working, but things with her husband's construction company have been dead. She said they put in 34 estimates, not one phone call. 4 months later and 100's of applications later, I'm down to my last dollars before my rent and all my bills push me on to the street into a car that I won't afford the insurance for. I got hired at another digital studio, two weeks later with $100 in my account I get my first paycheck right at the time the eclipse happened. Still hanging on, but I'll tell you the job market is an empty blizzard right now. For every lead, there's 100 people firing off resumes within an hour. It feels like throwing darts at the wall. Saving as much as I can. I don't take this one for granted, and pray it lasts. Best of luck out there.

My husband is oil field and things are getting rough there too! So many are underemployed in the field and companies aren’t even giving raises anymore. The price of oil isn’t even bad right now so the lack of decent paying jobs or jobs in general in the field is pretty alarming. I totally agree with you. My daughter is a very hard worker and will take the initiative to learn new needed skills on her own time. She was completely taken advantage of in her last job by being required to manage multiple teams and running multiple projects for low pay and no benefits. After, several years of being cheated, the owner bought a Rolls Royce for himself and a private chauffeur to drive him around which was ridiculous. She quit and he still calls her asking her to come back so he can cheat her a bit more! What a selfish turd!
Now she works on a contract in scientific research and development. However, they have had her on a private contract with no benefits for the last two years. She is taking on leaderships roles and has now obtained 2 international patents so she has proved her worth. She is hoping to be hired on next week but nothing is guaranteed any more. I worry a lot about her future. She is a very intelligent, hard working girl, but I worry she will just become discouraged and burned out if this continues.
At some point, who wouldn't? Thank God, I'm retired. I can't imagine what it must feel like to just try to make a living and pay rent. They're all selfish turds.

I have watched several videos over the last week regarding how hard regular and fast food restaurants are struggling right now, and a common reason given for this is a labor shortage. So how can we simultaneously have a countrywide labor shortage and people not being able to find a job?

Or they’re simply postings to harvest resumes or personal data. A friend of mine got a follow email to a job posting he answered where the employer wanted him to fill up some survey where they were asking about SSI benefits. The company had the nerve to ask for his social security number? That’s illegal and he didn’t respond. 4 days later he got an email saying they were not moving forward with his candidacy. They didn’t get the form back. Had zero to do with his experience or any need they claim to have.
They’re also asking for people’s ages, sexual orientation and other illegal questions. Ridiculous.

The Fed has a program that is paying a large part of an immigrant worker's pay. That's why many companies like Tyson fired thousands of American worker's so they can take advantage of taxpayer funded programs. Welcome to the great replacement.
My sister is a psychologist. When she graduated, she couldn’t really find work right away in her field. So she tried getting any job. Even warehouse work and she was repeatedly turned down from being hired for being “over-qualified”. I told her obviously don’t put down her education and she was hired somewhere until she landed a job in her field. In the examples he’s giving, we don’t know the details but it does make sense that the economy is taking a down turn. So if you’re working, now is not the time to quit.
Why can't she open here own practice?
To reject a job candidate for being "overqualified" should be a crime just like rejecting a candidate for being female or being of a certain religion or having the wrong skin color or being trans.

It's unemployment insurance fraud. They create ghost jobs so they can pump up their (employment to job vacancy ratio) that they provide to each state.
This allows them to tout 'big job numbers' and get a tax-deduction towards the state unemployment fund.
HR are given directions to perform 'interview' quotas so that the state can't prosecute them for fraud.

There is no longer a "relationship" between employers and employees. People are just numbers. Minimum wage employers only want to hire people part time and only people that will be happy never moving up in the job market. They don't want people who actually want to better themselves.
Only time you have that relationship are in some very small businesses with a low number of employees...... large corporations...... forget about it .......

The government is in full mode smoke and mirrors for the presidential election. There are no foreclosures yet because they’re in forbearance. Homeowners have not been making mortgage payments in 2 years. Banks have a ton of non-performing commercial loans. Banks are in trouble. Inflation numbers are bogus. And of course, employment numbers are inflated and unreliable. Your gut instinct is most likely true!
You are correct about the job market challenges for applicants. Corporate positions are not plentiful and many companies are not actively hiring. The labor market statistics are skewed by government job openings, so they do not accurately reflect the reality of the situation. Many companies are simply collecting resumes to build their talent databases without actual intentions to hire. Even experienced candidates are often told they are "overqualified," which is just an excuse used by companies. The tech sector is particularly challenging, with over 100 applicants for each open position. I have friends who have been searching for jobs for nearly nine months. Unemployment benefits are not sufficient to cover bills and living expenses in the long term. The data being reported about the job market is misleading and does not paint an accurate picture of the current employment landscape. Gig Work, is not the answer.
the truth is people are dying people are risking so much just to work

Lowe's careers has a chat bot named Luci, if you respond yes to 3 basic questions the store MUST interview you. So for each position there are usually over 25 people interviewed which takes weeks, and sometimes they decide to put the position "on hold," and no one gets hired (full-time), you can barely get a part-time job there. Then the chat bot sends you a survey that asks, "how likely are you to shop at Lowe's after having the interview?" Makes me think its a marketing scheme to drive business, or to make people think their neighbors must be spending lots of money at Lowe's or they wouldn't be constantly hiring.

I have been with them for almost 8 years but there is always the "What if?"

Let Me keep this observation short and simple as I can. The Job Market is indeed in Ciris and will continue to deteriorate for the forseeable future, because there is no intention of fixing it as far as Our Leadership is concerned. There was a time not long ago when trying start and grow a Business that was beneficial and profitable to an Individual and their Community, it was good thing to do. This was one the foundational principles of Our Republic. That is not what drives our Economy Today, Instant profit taking and producing things of very little intrinsic and physical value is what drives Us today. You are now seen as successful by how much You can take from others and how quickly. By the way, this is not unique to U.S. as we All know. To finish up here, this Mighty Stallion of an Economy has been ridden into the ground and taken for all its worth by Greed & Corruption at many levels. I as well as many Others believe that is now Mathematically impossible to pull Us out of the Nosedive We are now in.
God Help Us All!
I'm exactly like the young lady you described, except I'm a >60 year old man who wants to work, and not take SS yet. After 1 year of trying, nobody is hiring. It's been a huge waste of time.

Employers don't want to train people for a job anymore. There are way too many qualified applicants today
I tried to explain this to people and they just don't seem to understand or don't want to understand... When you work you pay into unemployment insurance... When you are laid off or something happens where you have to go on unemployment It only lasts a certain amount of time another words, cash/ credit... Once you deplete your entitlement.. you're dropped from unemployment statistics.. that doesn't mean you got a job That's just means you're not receiving/ eligible for unemployment benefits any longer.. it is a smoke and mirrors illusion... So many people have lost their jobs and gone through (depleted) their unemployment benefits and now have been dropped; B UT they haven't gotten jobs! It's deceiving!!!! You think "oh only so many people are receiving unemployment benefits!" They're not counting the people that have used up their benefits and still don't have jobs.
Yeah, but do you even like nachos?
Exactly 💯
@moebanshee -- Pretty misleading to say the least, to only count unemployed if they're receiving unemployment benefits.
The employee doesn't pay unemployment insurance. Employers are the ones who pay it.
