    Please Ryan continue with your valuable work of promoting music that otherwise we cant find anywhere. Finnissy or you will get zero money but the music gets atention, consideration, respect, even admiration. My students benefit too. We all benefit. Im a composer and thanks to you, here in this early morning in Argentina, I learnt something new not thanks to some archive or foundation or lawyer or gatekeeper but thanks to you and your work you put in scanning, copying the description and uploading, work no one pays tou to do. Thanks! And nevermind the crazy guy. Keep at it.

      Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate that! I will continue to provide these videos for as long as I can, and I'm really glad you can benefit from them. Greetings to you and your students in Argentina!

    He grew whiskers on his chin you see,
    wrote music called New Complexity,

    Nothing to say and fear of simplicity

      this music is pretty simple - i mean listen to it, theres like max two things happening at once, very simlple and easy to get into

    • @DarrylWhiteguitar
      @DarrylWhiteguitar ปีที่แล้ว

      @connorcmusician Of course, an exponent of the 'NEW COMPLEXITY' is "pretty simple." A = -A. Now what?

      @@DarrylWhiteguitar the notation may look a bit forbidding/complex, but the form/ gesture is pretty clear: extensive use of pedal notes and reaching a climax 12 mins in, albeit cut slightly short. Solos for various instruments inc. Oboe, piccolo and viola.

      @@DarrylWhiteguitardo me a favour daryl and listen to the piece again, but look at anything other than the score. The complexity that's upsetting you is all visual, this is not difficult to listen to.

    Is the composer aware that his score has been uploaded and has he given permission for that? Just curious!

      @@GUILLOM Nice to see some meaningless responses here. There is so much of this kind of thing being done and that is why I asked the question; after all, I have witnessed quite enough of it in respect of Sorabji's music, in which The Sorabji Archive holds an interest. If the composer has given his sanction for it in this or any other instance, all well and good but, if not, then all ill and bad.

      Hello there,
      I am genuinely exhausted at the incessant copyright hunting in this community. If the composer or publisher has a problem with this free advertising of this extremely unknown piece, they can contact me themselves and something can be worked out. Quite honestly I'm sick and tired of mine and my fellow score video maker's hard work being completely overlooked for the sake of outdated copyright laws, which I'm sure nobody seriously cares about. Ask the average person if they have heard a work of Finnissy or Sorabji or any other composer of a similar level of obscurity, and the answer will be a resounding no. So personally I do not see the problem with sharing these works to a larger audience, and if you wish to gatekeep the music, feel free to let all of these composer's efforts go to vain!
      Thanks, Ryan Power.

    • @alistairhinton
      @alistairhinton 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RyanPower I am sorry to hear of your exhaustion but it is self-inflicted. What is uploaded here is not "free advertising" and I find that the composer has indeed not permitted it and will request that his publishers have it removed. Whatever your opinion on the "outdatedness" of copyright laws, it is just that - an opinion, no more no less; the laws remain (although they differ from country to country); if few people cared about them, why would most countries have intellectual property lawyers and royalty collecting organisations? Composers are certainly not dependent upon the likes of those who illicitly upload videos of their work but are dependent upon incomes, like most other people; the amounts generated by TH-cam, Amazon, Spotify and the rest are absurdly minuscule in that respect. The extent to which a composer is or is not well known is of no relevance because the laws apply eqully to all irrespective of such considerations.
