Proud to be a Kel Ahaggar Tuareg from Algeria, we survive all odds, and so will our culture! But slavery is not as common of a practice anymore. And in the areas where it is, it involves rich and prestigious Tuaregs and is more so based on wealth.

I wish people understood that there were no borders before colonialism. People were able to travel more freely. Imashaghen are by definition nomads. So they lived all over including in Morocco and Algeria. We are all brothers, we are all mixed. No need to argue about things that don't matter. What matters is our actions and what we do with the opportunity to experience life. Be well, everyone.

    Some information about my people
‏Firstly we’re not tribe,we’ar nation contains many tribes and Non-tribal societies, and yah there is black Touareg put in general we are not black nation
‏and also “kel tmashaq”have been An independent nation that rules its lands in tribal sultans before french colonialism
‏colonial France divided their lands among the nations around them because of their strong resistance to it, without giving them any piece of their land to govern it،The Tuareg found themselves colonized again by other peoples and therefore they revolted
‏especially in Mali and Niger, where they were subjected to more ethnic discrimination
‏Therefore, the Tuareg revolted again and again in these countries, and after every revolution, many of them are displaced because of the difficulty of living for them in their lands there dueto the reprisals against them in sub-Sahara
Thus, the Tuareg Issue continued without any solution

stefano hash‏I am a Tuareg woman, and this is not true that slavery still exists, rather it is a thing from the past. and Many societies in West Africa and outside Africa, including black societies, participated in it. It is wrong to hold the Tuareg alone to be responsible for the history of slavery there. It is also not true that there was sexual enslavement to previously enslaved women, but were mostly nannies or wives of enslaved men
‏and Their children are raised with the children of the tribal families and treated as members of the family, even though slavery remains slavery,In spite of the Islam’s previous legislation for Sexual slavery that is not acceptable in the Touareg culture, as the Tuareg”al fagetn” clergy forbade this legislation and also in our culture the woman does not accept polygamy nor that her husband shares the bed with another woman
Also, the Touareg culture is an equestrian culture that carries a man a lot of moral responsibility towards his actions and sex is a taboo in our society and also if there was this kind of enslavement all the Touareg would become black and this did not happen in the tribal society,Most of the black Tuareg descended from either the strains of the formerly enslaved or the society of the "enhdn” the makers, they specialize in making all the necessities of living and jewelry in the desert. They are also musicians and some of them were teachers.
The tribes were depended on them and paid them for their work, and They were never slaves،

And the film doesn’t say or suggest that there are Tuareg in Morocco - only whoever may have put the film on TH-cam, presumably without having actually looked at the film!

THere are Touaregs in Morocco but a very small number, there used to be a lot but most migrated to Algeria or Mali or they moved to cities, this is because there are issues in the Sahara portion of Morocco so that's why most had to stop living there, but you can still find Touaregs in Morocco living the traditional way. There are also many people in Morocco who live in cities that are decent of touaregs, we call them Twarga
