I’ll be happy if he gets a talented offensive coordinator who is committed to a balanced and physical offense. That’s what I thought we would get with Ben Johnson, and why it was so disappointing to see him decline the opportunity. As long as Quinn gets an OC who can do the job, I’ll be happy.
2 things I find interesting here: 1) The Commanders fired a Defensive Coach who made a Super Bowl with an MVP QB then burnt out, to then hire another another Defensive Coach who made a Super Bowl with an MVP QB then burnt out. What difference are they hoping to find here? 2) Jerry Jones just a few days ago both said that he wants to go “all in” AND that him and Belichick are “Friends and could work well together”. Is there a Dumb and Dumber chance that Bill takes a job as the Cowboys DC to compliment McCarthy’s Offensive play calling, with the idea that if things aren’t up to snuff early, you already have the most decorated interim Coach in NFL history on staff?
As a Commanders fan, I can’t see them keeping EB, especially to develop the QB that they likely draft with the #2 pick. I believe EB basically broke Sam Howell by playing WAY too much pass, allowing him to get sacked WAY too much, and not even really playing to his strengths. There was even a press conference near midseason where the sack number was quoted to EB, and he was like “so?” Would not risk him breaking another QB, especially a prized high draft pick. Personally, I think the Commanders have to get three important pieces - the GM (check), franchise QB (hopefully with the #2 pick), and the coach to develop the QB, either a coordinator or QB coach. When Ben Johnson elected to stay with the Lions, the most important thing became hiring an HC who would have a wide network of coordinators he could get onto his staff. Quinn seems to have such a network, so I’m hoping he can hire a really good OC and QB coach. He has done well in the past, hiring Shanahan as his OC in Atlanta.
We'll see. What will you say when DQ helps end Dak's Cowgirl run. Dak is the main culprit in that travesty of a playoff game. And ironic to think he was supposedly in the running for MVP ..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
@@mythrapi73 if you think Dak is the main reason they lost you didn't watch the game. Ya he had bad picks but the defense let up those touchdown and if they were able to hold up Dak would have been able to play a close game. If your defense giving up over 25+ you can't really blame the offense. It's a culture thing that needs changed.
Rich, really? Who wants to build the foundations of their franchise on 71+ year-old defensive coaches? And putting the name of Eric Bienemy in the same sentence with Belichik, Carroll or Vrabel... what are you thinking?
I mean in all fairness DQ did do a lot for Dallas defense. It’s up to the players to execute the plays and make it count on the field. Let’s not forget regardless of the set backs Dallas had one the best defenses in the league. He also did it with the legion of boom. Let’s give him a shot and stop assuming it won’t work.
I can't speak for the Commanders or any other team that has found a new HC this offseason. But besides the Harbaugh hire there's not been one real blue chip coaching hire that looks like a relatively safe bet to me... Canales in Carolina? McDonald to Seattle? Mayo with the Patriots? Pierce has interim tag removed with Raiders? Callahan the man in Tennessee? And now Quinn in Washington? I don't know. I get it that Bill's name wasn't called since he's advanced in age and is a very special personality but Mike Vrabel without a HC job? Strange. Morris in Atlanta and Harbaugh with the Chargers look the best for me as of right now.
As a Redskins (Commanders) fan, I am disappointed with this hire and am disappointed more time was not spent going after Mike MacDonald or Weaver. The team will probably be better than 2023, but I do not see Quinn leading this team to consistent playoff appearances.
As a fan of Washington not excited about this decision. To be fair, I may be tainted because of the last ownership group. Crossing my fingers this at least breaks the streak of being below average
Washington will forever be looking for OCs with this move. With failure on offense they move on to a new OC and with success the OCs move on too. Long term success feels very unlikely in that setup. But they make the big bucks and I have only watched since high school.
I just don't see the fit here with Dan Quinn at Washington. I could be wrong, but when Dan Quinn was with the Falcons outside of that one Superbowl run, he was a ok coach. Honestly he should just stick with being a DC, I think he will regret taking the Washington job. He pretty much had it made at Dallas. I am so sorry Washington fans that you guys got Dan Quinn. Go Fins!
@@Sky_Blaze I agree. I effing hate it and I usually don't acknowledge it, but this is a national forum and it's just easier here. My hope is, since the Quinn hiring is so unpopular, that they'll pivot to changing the name to something else, to get the fans back in their good graces.
I don’t get the appeal of Quinn to be honest. He made one Super Bowl riding the backs of a great offense. The Cowboys defense gets dominated by good offenses. I would have gone with someone else. Them picking Quinn over Belichick just shows while their new ownership talks about having a great culture, at the same time their own egos won’t let them hire anyone but a yes man, which is what Quinn essentially will be there.
I could never, EVER work in sports broadcasting. I was born with this seemingly rare condition called shame and wouldn't be able to be wrong about everything I say and then come in the next day and do it all again as Rich does. That being said I guess I couldn't be a meteorologist either.
Remember when Dallas let go of Moore and the fans were so happy but the media was like “they’re gonna miss him.” We saw what happened there. Same thing happening here.
I would say keep Eric Bieniemy . Dan Quinn needs to bring this Redskins squad together. Put the right coaches in place to win. Him and Adam Peters need to be on the same page.
I know it has been said that Harris likes the Ravens' "blueprint", but they are not the only ones. I think the DQ hire compares favorably with the Lions. Just as DQ is supposed to be the leader of men, I don't think anyone would argue Dan Campbell is the LoM in the Lions hierarchy. He convinced his OC to return 2 years in a row now. I'm sure he holds his coordinators to task. Now of course next comes the coordinators for us, and they will be critical. I would not expect DQ to air dirty laundry about his OC like RR did, you expect respect in both directions. So I'm cautiously optimistic and we will see who is hired, I would wonder if DQ has carte blanche on hires or needs sign-offs by someone higher up, especially with Peters determining who gets drafted and signed. I would expect some 2-way communication there too. Remember, DQ was the only person that got 3 interviews, I don't think this was the "3rd or 4th" choice.
EB is still on staff. Josh kept him on staff and said as much during the exit presser. I hope Coach decides to keep him around. Would be smart, especially since the pickings are slim.
I can't see anyone wanting him to call plays after finishing near the bottom of the league in almost every offensive category. Plus he must have ripped out all he rushing plays out of his playbook because it was always..pass...pass...pass...punt
Cowboys should hire Zimmer as DC. He talks to Parce's every week. Then I'd hire Belichek as a 'Consultant' all year.. Off season, pre season and the season. An 'in house' deep coaching clinic. ALL your coaches can get better FOREVER. He has the SWAG they'd be THANKFUL not resentful. And we'd be the envy of the league. Jerry's kids would get lifetime knowledge just we did when Parcels came in
their records are very similar as HC, but DQ got a team to the SB and he's well liked in the building, whereas Vrabel has a rep now of being an a__hole. If the choice was between only those two, I'd probably go DQ also, but if given a wider choice, I'd want to go with a young offensive hotshot like Slowik or Johnson.

Well the positive side is Adam Peters... he's in control of talent in the end.. he can scout like the best of them in the NFL
Jerryworld makes all the players soft. Remember, the Cowboys are a brand first, football team second.
As a skins fan I’m super pumped about this! Dan is a leader and players love him! I was also always afraid of his defenses period! HAIL
In hindsight things worked out for everybody and its even more intriguing games this upcoming season as a result
Belichick is done, he's job performance without Brady is horrible.
Thank you
Lol when you scheme so bad that the Seahawks lose your number and Washington ends up saying "Well you can't be as bad as Ron Rivera".
Why does everyone all of a sudden think Dan Quinn is going to be a great head coach? Does everyone forget 28-3?
Congrats for giving DQ the chance to show once again why he should not be a head coach in the NFL
lol agreed. He'll be back looking for that DC gig before you can shake a lambs tail
28 points of upside
I can’t believe anyone would hire Quinn as HC. Upsize? Ha ha
when rich said in a broadcast earlier today that quinn was back with the cowboys i thought, um who says he's not still in the running for washington?
I don't get all the fascination with DQ. Like Lamar, the real results are not there.
2 things I find interesting here:
1) The Commanders fired a Defensive Coach who made a Super Bowl with an MVP QB then burnt out, to then hire another another Defensive Coach who made a Super Bowl with an MVP QB then burnt out.
Redskins fan here - Vrabel would have been a better choice, but Quinn is not a bad pick.
Vrabel wants too much power and washington already stated that the team will run like a traditional football team.
Vrabel was the better pick. He’s a player’s coach. He proved success in Tennessee. Quinn has shown twice now he’s got problems adjusting in big games.
@@treflips2158 did not know that. Thanks.
redskins lol
*Foreskins
enjoy having a coach who cannot make second-half adjustments. That is his biggest Achilles heel. Dan Snyder makes a bonehead decision again.
Damn. Washington going from an aging HC who makes bad decisions and loses games to an aging HC who makes bad decisions and loses games. Rad.
This is a win for the cowboys
Guys complaining saying Eb is too tough is why they're picking 2nd in the draft, maybe they want the ping pong table back?
You pick up Dan Quinn when you want to lose the Super Bowl after 28-3 lead.......
Good move by Washington. Congrats to Dan for leaving a discombobulated, and dysfunctional organization. A true Murphys Law team.
He also has family in MD
No Spags interview we went with the divorced dad look at HC like he’s MCDC or something that’s what they’re going for…
As a Redskins (Commanders) fan, I am disappointed with this hire and am disappointed more time was not spent going after Mike MacDonald or Weaver. The team will probably be better than 2023, but I do not see Quinn leading this team to consistent playoff appearances.
Now the Redskins can give up 48 points in games.
As a fan of Washington not excited about this decision. To be fair, I may be tainted because of the last ownership group. Crossing my fingers this at least breaks the streak of being below average
I've got zero warm and fuzzy feelings about DQ.
"a ton of upside".. which sounds like a euphamistic backhand way of saying "you're starting with low expectations - good luck".
What about Sean McDermott? He's from the Andy Reid coaching tree...
I woke up really late today and just saw Florio talking about how this was the last job open and then the next video has Rich saying it's been filled.
It is like time exists... why does everything not happen at once😢
Quinn over Carroll, Bill B. and Vrabel? If you’re going defense, what’s the rationale?
age
@@TheFergyme for two, but Carroll looks and acts like a 50 year old.
Were all my DC fans that were so hyped about Peters and Ben Johnson?! 😂😂😂 Choice number 1 from the new GM: Dan F* Quinn. 😂😂
Washington will forever be looking for OCs with this move. With failure on offense they move on to a new OC and with success the OCs move on too. Long term success feels very unlikely in that setup. But they make the big bucks and I have only watched since high school.
I'll give Chicago my second overall pick, Jonathan Allen, and Kam Curl for the #1 spot no problem! Welcome to Washington Caleb Williams!
Go Fins!
Commanders fan here. I fuking hate this. HATE IT. You forgot to mention his .500 winning record as head coach in Atlanta.
Real redskins fans dont acknowledge the "commanders" name..time for them to change that crap name..Redwolves,Redhogs, Hogs. Or WFT
Dan Quinn may have been working for the commanders in that playoff game by the way he called that defense.
I would say keep Eric Bieniemy . Dan Quinn needs to bring this Redskins squad together. Put the right coaches in place to win. Him and Adam Peters need to be on the same page.
What about this guy says I'm a good head coach
“He’s a leader of Men”🤡
@@texasclawhammer6578 sarcasm I'm assuming 🙂🙂
im gonna LMAO if Belicheat cant get a job and break Shula's record... DELICIOUS!!
And yes I'm lmao right now, tyvm
Jerry's kids would get lifetime knowledge just we did when Parcels came in
Bill Belichick does not have a gig this year and age has nothing to do with it.
Of course not. Younger coaches who never won anything simply happen to jump Bill or Carroll for the top spots.
Quinn and not Vrabel? Wowowow
their records are very similar as HC, but DQ got a team to the SB and he's well liked in the building, whereas Vrabel has a rep now of being an a__hole. If the choice was between only those two, I'd probably go DQ also, but if given a wider choice, I'd want to go with a young offensive hotshot like Slowik or Johnson.
They had a defensive Super Bowl coach in old riverboat Ron. And I got them nothing.
Dan Quinn’s biggest moments in his career were historic failures. Turn the stupid hat around.
Well, he's bald, so he's allowed to wear is his cap backwards. At least, I think it is how the etiquette works.
I can see the Ravens hiring MIKE VRABEL as their next def coordinator for the 2024 season and bring in Derek Henry as well.
EB comes back to KC
