The people hating on the guy playing a trans character is wild. The fact that they were even able to put a Trans character in a Korean show and give them such a compelling story is a huge victory. I think the actor and writers did a really good job. Honestly, the best character, in my opinion, her and the mother of the gambler had all the most emotional scenes.
Yeah, I'm a trans woman and she's honestly an amazing character I have almost no complaints. They even managed to make her flawed but sympathetic, most portrayals of trans characters are either mocking or make them like this perfect victim, whereas she feels really human. I totally understand them not being able to get a trans actor, my only minor complaint is that I wish they made some brief mention of her not being on hormones yet because it does unintentionally reinforce stereotypes that trans women still look like men and it's all about the surgery, but overall it's a really positive portrayal, ESPECIALLY for Korea
I am so glad that they have her here, I completely agree that they've done her character well, the representation in shows like this compared to cartoons (which they do a more decent job I believe) is starkly different. They've made her real enough to the point where #149 (old lady) had changed her perspective of Hyun-ju because Hyun-ju didn't undermine her, or get offended at 149's questions. She told it as it was, and that's what makes her approachable.
4:07 something I noticed about this scene when I first watched it is that he used his Right hand for the first two attempts, but got it perfectly when using his left hand. Man was throwin'
I agree that it made 0 sense for Gi-Hun’s best friend to pick O instead of X. Like dude, you have a friend that can help you out with money, YOU’RE GOOD!
I said the same thing! Didn’t Gi-Hun even say that he’ll help them out in the end???? Like, bro! They know he’s a previous winner and that he should be flipping-LOADED with cash! But I guess his friend doesn’t want to rely on his own buddy for money when he feels he can get the amount he needs on his own. I get he got a bit too prideful and that’s something I can understand.
@@Jaden_The_CelestialI can see that being the case. More people need to realize that when you’re in debt, you literally cannot afford to be too prideful and could use all the help you can get. Because trying to get the money on your own in a life and death game just isn’t in your favor.
I’m sure even if Gi-Hun’s team lost and the other team won, because they were the last teams to play with no audience to witness their victory, the guards would’ve still killed everyone except for In-Ho since he’s their boss.
@@Jaden_The_Celestial yeah but im talking about the whole team, 001 wanted every one to continue playing so maybe he nodded to the guard to let them all through
I HAVE A THEORY!!!!! Because In-Ho is the Front-Man, at the part where they had to kick that one toy 5 times, the fact the last “kick” was him pulling Gi-Hun’s foot under the toy to have it bounce off his foot was a subtle pass by the guards to let them win. On account that In-Ho is their flipping BOSS they allowed it as a “kick” just so their boss could still be allowed to live. Just like how in Season 1 Oh Ill-Nam had subtle bypasses to let him survive all the games. (Red Light - Green Light, the doll never recognized his presence let alone his movements. Dalgona, he picked the star, which was still a pretty easy shape to cut out. Tug-of-war, his handcuffs weren’t actually chained to the rope.) EDIT: Same goes for the reason why their team were the last to go! If they lost, the guards could’ve easily just killed the other contestants and not shoot In-Ho. There wouldn’t be any witnesses to object. And even if the other team won and Gi-Hun’s team lost, I have no doubt the other team would’ve still been shot just to not see In-Ho spared by the guards.
Holy crap they're really just skipping through the episode just to talk. They didnt show their reaction to Yong-mi begging to end the vote something i thought theyd want to show their reactions too. Is the full reaction of her patreon or something?

@@livingangrycheese2668right? She’s capable, brave, reliable, a great leader, but still a flawed gambler like almost everyone else there.

Hyun-ju is my favorite character. She wins over her allies with actions. Huge respect

Yeah that was intentional. In season one we can see multiple times that he is actually left handed
I agree that it made 0 sense for Gi-Hun’s best friend to pick O instead of X. Like dude, you have a friend that can help you out with money, YOU’RE GOOD!
I agree but it’s not like his votes would have changed the result if he picked X same with the son and the other good characters like number 120

I wonder if 001's nod to the guy overseeing the kicking game was intended as a 'let us through' nod after he stretched out his leg to help
