I actually met Bob Young back in 1976/77 when I was working in the Liverpool Centre Hotel he was promoting his album with Mickey Moody, " Young and Moody ", we had a great chat about Status Quo. Bob invited me to meet Francis, Rick, Alan and John the next time they played Liverpool, he told me to goto a certain hotel and ask for him at reception and then he would meet me and take me up to meet the guys but, unfortunately Status Quo were banned from playing the Liverpool empire theatre on the next tour because of Quo fans wrecking the seats there, or so I believe ? In those days Quo fans would stand on the theatre seats head banging away to the mighty sound of the band but, It may also have had something to do with high insurance fees ? At the time I had just split up from a Quo tribute band myself, I have been a life long fan of Status Quo since the very early 70's. I cannot believe all these years and I still haven't managed to meet Francis Rossi. I met John Coghlan just after he had left the band, he was walking around Liverpool City centre, I had a chat with him and he told me was playing in the Cumberland pub with his band Diesel, he invited me along that night to jam with him but unfortunately I was gigging myself that night ( cabaret shite ). Hopefully one day I will get to meet Francis Rossi ?????
