the problem is that the user still has the stand there and feed every single item to the machine. The person still has to interact with the machine instead of give it a basket of laundry/clothes and then leave for it to be sorted and folded.
I woulnd't pay $50 for this. Next round though, when you can dump the clothes in the top hopper and come back some time later and everything is folded, well for that I would pay quite a bit!
Either a hopper and/or a robot that takes the basket to the machine, puts them into the machine (except for the ones that shouldn't go in), and takes the basket of the folded clothes to the closet.
Laundroid is working on one where you just dump your clean clothes into it, and its sorts and folds them. But it's twice the size of this...and kinda costs 16k. lol
For commercial use this can work, for personal use it’s just a novelty. It doesn’t really free up much time, since you can fold it by hand faster and you still have to stand there feeding it one item at a time. If it could handle a basket of clothes, then it would be a timesaver and people would want it for their homes :) I’m guessing that’s the plan?
yep unfortunately that is a problem with this machine is that can't fold in mass. It's item by item. If one can solve the problem to allow for it to automatically feed the clothing items to the machine and then collect or place the folded items after then this would be a worthy wild investment for a home
So glad that this company not only has developed this product, but that it is still in business 5 years later. Folding laundry is an absolute time waster for so many people. In our 2 people household alone we spend 40 minutes a week folding laundry. That's 17 hours a year per person. Over the US population alone, this represents 5.2 billion hours wasted on this task alone. I know this machine is not perfect, the end goal really is to have the dryer automatically dump clothes into the folder, which then spits them out folded, but it's progress in the right direction, especially considering the price point. Going back to the wasted time, 5.2B hours is close to 600'000 years, or more than _7000 lifetimes_ . Every year. This kind of development is literally saving lives.
people keep saying this is useless cuz you have to stand next to it and feed it clothes . if you don't like the sight of awkwardly folded laundry and you can't seem to do it right yourself the first time this is a godsend. Sometimes I'll spend like 3 whole minutes on one shirt which doesn't sound like a lot but when you consider that a better person can fold a shirt in less than 5 Seconds it's an eternity. . and if the wrinkled throw them in the dryer to get the wrinkles out then immediately put them in the folding machine why would you let your clothes wrinkle before you tried folding them anyway if you did you would have to iron them yourself and then fold them taking up way too much time you could just be responsible and fold them as soon as they get out of dryer.
Perfect machine for *clothing stores and laundry* services. Looks like more and more things are automated to the point, where we can invent very complex and impossible activities to automate.
For a business owner this could be a valuable tool, having the appearance of uniform folded merchandise is a goal for every apparel retail store. Also it has the potential to reduce labor cost, by boosting productivity. I would invest in this company, as most major retail chains are turning to automation to achieve results.
My old job that works with hospital linen they had a machine like this one but the bigger version. those things cost tens and thousands of dollars and they break often, that’s why you need maintenance to call maintenance all the time to fix it.🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Great invention. You solved the hardest part of making a folding machine. Doesn't it defeat the purpose that you have to load each item, then wait for the machine to take it in. I could basically fold the item myself in that time. IMO it'd be better if you could load all the clothes on a clothing rack or something similar which would slowly roll into the receiving belt.
*The real innovation will be the one, where you get back home and before you jump in the bathtub or shower, just chuck your clothes in the machine that will wash, dry, steam iron and fold those clothes while you relax and freshen up*
Bankrupt and closed in 2021. Guess a machine as large as a washing machine couldn't compete against a cheap inexpensive plastic folding board. What is really interesting is that most technologies are developed at the same time by two different people at the same time and unknown to each other. The plastic laundry folding board and this machine both started at about the same time yet while one instantly hit the market the other never even got out the door.

As a work from home mom and kids to take care off, I need anything that can make my work easier. Dishwasher, washer, dryer, cloth folder. I need this in my home
The best product would be one that is not as bulky and fits onto the front or side of the dryer and senses when the dryer is done. Then the dryer has a setting where it will continue to spin and feed clothes to the folder until all the clothes have been folded and basketed. Boom! The consumer never has to touch anything after they load the dryer!
I want a machine that will replace my dresser, closet, washer and dryer. Imagine everyday you wake up and instead of having to sift through the dozens of clothes and socks, you simply select a set of clothes and the machine retrieves the clothes and spits it out for you. Now at the end of the day, instead of throwing your clothes into the hamper, you instead give it back to the machine. Where it takes the dirty clothes, washed and drys it, and then folds it back into its clothes database. The next day, you could even wear the same outfit if you so choose. I expect this type of machine to be able to store 40-100 clothes, plus you can add on extra storage containers if you so choose. This is what I want. And I believe this is all 100% feasible in today’s modern day and age.
I have a high quality folding machine that I made myself. All it takes is a simple command input and the job is done quickly and effectively! I don't have to hand deliver each item of laundry flat and ready to fold either! I just plop them in a chair and call her out of her room & say, "Take care of this, then you can have your phone back." I'm still trying to work out the kinks, the eye roll is a just a small hiccup, but still annoying. But overall I'm happy with my creation.
Because when they didn’t send you more immediately, people were discovering that running a print head clean in the printer settings miraculously restored about half the ink level despite using ink in the process. This was leading to people using the same ink cartridges until they genuinely did run out of ink, rather than when the exposed print heads dried over and the computer tells you it’s “empty”.
I have no problem folding any item the only thing I hate folding are fitted sheets. Martha Stewart has the ideal way to fold them I still can't figure out how she does it
This is awesome! If it can save me over 10 seconds per garment it'll definitely pay for itself over the long run in the amount of time it'll save me. #timeismoney
It’s missing one part. You should be able to just dump the landry basket when it’s dry and walk away. I don’t think it’s worth it if I have to stand in front of the machine and load each shirt. I can fold clothes in the same amount of time.

Frankly, almost all the crowdfunding I've been involved in has been very disappointing and even scams, obviously foldimate has been looking for funds without knowing if what they were announcing had any chance of being achievable.
I own a Laundry wash fold and dry service and I thought this might help ( I even offered to do life testing for these guys but not response) but another problem I see is that button up shirts you have to spend the time buttoning them before you can even put them in. My people use a folding board now and can fold even button up shirts faster. I worked in Engineering many years prior to buying my current business and helped to develop about a dozen products and if it took us as long as it is taking this guys we would have been out of business, I really don't understand the delay's to only get this far. Not saying that they are doing this but I have seen it happen where companies are formed and the guys at the top live off the raised money and never develop a product.
That's why it's called research and development you muppet. "Knowing it was achievable"? It's new technology - there is no "knowing" when you embark on R&D, otherwise it would just be "building". From an engineer's perspective this is an impressive achievement.
Its not an impressive achievement, it is NOT new technology ( you are using a micro controller to run a bunch of motors, I was doing this in the late 80's with automated silk screen printers for pc boards) there are many types of machines that fold your clothes, (how do you think the shirts you get in a package from the store are done ? By hand ? ) its just that they are industrial and cost more money. Just search TH-cam or Google and you will find them. I thought the object of this machine was to make it simple, quick and inexpensive for the home ? I am in the process of making an automated folding board and it will work much faster then this machine.

AL I'd rather do the laborious repetitive task. Anyone can do it faster then the machine. This is not any kind of improvement. (unless maybe you have crippling arthritis or something?)
I’ve had a Siemens washing machine and the Siemens STEAM tumble dryer for over 15 years and NEVER had any trouble. The steam function on the Tumble dryer is SOO GOOD clothes come out of Washer into Tumble full of creases put on the steam function the clothes or bed linen go STRAIGHT TO DRAWS AND Wardrobe ZERO CREASES OR NEED TO FOLD JUST USE HANGERS. If Siemens aren’t making this it’s not worth it .
Does the foldimate machine iron the clothes it folds?. If it irons and folds at the same time then it's a massive game changer and it's taking my laundry game to the next level, super stress free and lots of time saved which can be repurposed to do something more productive or just rest.
This would be good for manufacturers, but they probably already have something like this for mass packaging of mainly mens business shirts in packaging - maybe not but looks prettty expensive for a family usage only. Germany is big on automation & they might already have one.
If it can dry clothes , steam, starch, and make the clothes smell good then it’s worth it. That would replace the dryer and ironing. Also if it’s low to the ground no old lady that can pay for it will get it. It needs a pedestal like washers and dryers have
Bloody hell!!! Well done buddy. That is a fabulous idea but.... Cost? I can't see this being that affordable... I hope it is. Great invention and very good luck with it
It's a great start but doesn't go far enough. I'm disabled and have arthritis in my hands; a machine that only folds clothing, when I have to position the clothes just so then stand up to feed the machine, just isn't worth it. I can operate my front-loading washer and dryer, dumping the clothes into a basket--it's tedious but doable. Disabled people also typically live on a tight budget. So I might buy a machine priced for affordability (or subsidized for qualified [crippled] people), that takes the clothes out of the basket and folds them. This is just a toy for people with extra money. But keep trying.
Great concept, but it wouldn’t work for me bc the worse part of folding is untangling the clothes and getting them to the stage that the foldi need them in before it goes in the machine. By the time I get the pants or shirt to that stage just a couple steps and you’re done. Also I sit down and watch tv while folding. I’d hate standing in front of a machine loading it one by one. That’s even if the machine folds everything perfect which I kinda doubt it does.
If you have your own personal bathroom, it would be cheaper to buy clothes that don't need ironing and have two combo-washer dryers. Alternate between them, from 'clothing draw' to 'bathroom basket' mode lol.
I'm not lazy but I have other things I prefer to do with my time other than fold clothes. Although this is cool it's not quite there yet. But, I would take it.
That's cool and all, but could we make it so I could just throw in the content of my dryer without having to put every piece one by one? Cause at that point, a folding piece of cardboard is just as fast.
Yea... nobody's going to want to buy this because it still takes a lot of your time if you have to stand there sticking shirts and pants one at a time at such a slow pace. You need to: A) develop a way to just put all the laundry in one place that the machine can take it in automatically on its own -- even if the user has to clip shirts and pants on a rack that's going to be a lot more compact and less tedious to use. B) develop a way for the machine to be able to handle garments of any size or type, most likely with sensors and software designed to identify and recognize how to handle the garment in question before it starts folding it.
I'd be more interested in something that hangs the laundry on the clothesline outside. In the fresh air and then brings it in and then puts it away. In the meantime, it can vacuum the house, load/unload the dishwasher etc.,. Oh wait, I think I just described myself.
the problem is that the user still has the stand there and feed every single item to the machine.
It is also a large bulky item that the person needs to have space for. Could be an issue for apartments.

then wait until humanoid robots come out. They will feed the machine.

Bloody hell!!! Well done buddy. That is a fabulous idea but.... Cost? I can't see this being that affordable... I hope it is. Great invention and very good luck with it
Largest press machine of the world and its all free to wear
U can fold clothes by hands much faster than it takes to feed the machine
They should sell this to laundry shops, I'd surely use it.
It's really cool that someone is tackling this problem but it's folding just as fast as I am and requires manual feeding. So what are we gaining
Still we have to put clothes on it. How about the one that can wash, dry, iron and fold in a process? That must be great
I would like to get one of this as long as the price is comparable to the washer or dry or cheaper!
Fantastic. I’m on the wait list.

@asdfasdf You must be new here (Welcome), learn to recognize a joke bud. It's not that serious lol
Well now it's 2020. When are they coming out?
I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to do it yourself with the exact same outcome
This video was 2 years ago and it’s still on preorder ... does anyone know an actual release date?
4 years has passed. havent seen it anywhere around the world. that means there is problem with the machine by now.
It was invented a few years ago. They're called hands. Lol
*Perfect present for Mom!*

Love this because I hate ironing!
Ok can it steam the clothes?
If you have your own personal bathroom, it would be cheaper to buy clothes that don't need ironing and have two combo-washer dryers. Alternate between them, from 'clothing draw' to 'bathroom basket' mode lol.
Its nice invention and saved timing in our fast life. Can u send me video and price.
Where can I buy it? I found a website that sells it and I can't tell if it's legit
I'm not lazy but I have other things I prefer to do with my time other than fold clothes. Although this is cool it's not quite there yet. But, I would take it.
Now that's a printer worth buying !
:-)
Who is here from the heat vid with bam and jimmy and Tyler??
i need this in my life
Does it steam-heat the items to ensure they're ironed🤔
That's cool and all, but could we make it so I could just throw in the content of my dryer without having to put every piece one by one?
Cause at that point, a folding piece of cardboard is just as fast.
I need to invest in this by throwing inshirts, inpants and insweaters
I WAITED ALL 2018 FOR DIS, WHERE IS IT???
ITS BEEN 6 YEARS WHERE ARE YOU!?
Yea... nobody's going to want to buy this because it still takes a lot of your time if you have to stand there sticking shirts and pants one at a time at such a slow pace.
That's fantastic. I'm interested.
A MASSIVE TIME SAVER for me !
I'd be more interested in something that hangs the laundry on the clothesline outside. In the fresh air and then brings it in and then puts it away. In the meantime, it can vacuum the house, load/unload the dishwasher etc.,. Oh wait, I think I just described myself.
Can we make pressing or iron to cloth on this machine
